Serious, serious performance issues have been S/V's biggest problem (and it looking graphically mediocre for a 2022 release). There's a whole list that people are really mad about. I loved the game but it has its flaws.
I wonder if McLaren higher ups are scared of losing Lando. It's no secret he's unhappy with where the car is relative to the others, and he's spent a good amount of time there already. I think one reason they seem so intent on bringing in this many drivers is to have a backup plan in case Lando leaves.
Not a good idea. You tell them to play football, you’re gonna see a wide range of responses between Oscar (Australian), palou (spanish), and Ugo (American)
Between Lando, Pato, and now Palou I think Mclaren might have a look guide for their drivers. Danny Ric, while a decent looking guy, never stood a chance with the baby face requirements on the books.
I feel most people on earth would disagree with you but looks are somewhat subjective so neither of us can really know without putting in way more effort than either of us are willing to.
I could be wrong but it might also have something to do with how they can dance on the pedals and less to do with their looks ;)
But yeah it's a funny coincidence might be one thing stipulated by Ron Dennis?
That was my thought until I remembered who might be the Mercedes reserve next year. Better Palou who can be trusted not to crash but even if he did, he’s on the McLaren payroll.
Is Pato also reserve or yet to be announced? Iirc he's definitely McLaren development driver. Not sure about test and reserve.
But this is definitely massive for Palou. The man **dominates** Indycar races when he hooks up with the grip, like it's not even close. He'd pull 20+ second gap on you without even trying.
Truly an amazing talent. His COTA FP1 was amazing as well.
It’s unrelated sort of, but Palou is fantastic on a sim as well. I was in a race on iRacing with him earlier this year when I was practicing for the virtual Bathurst 12H and he was crazy fast driving the McLaren.
That's unfortunate. FIA has to revamp SL points for Indy man...
These drivers need to be able to start finding their footing in F1, we're missing out on so much talent because of these arbitrary rules that massively overvalue F1 feeder series compared to other series.
I mean, he's only really done that at one race. Granted its ridiculously rare when a driver pulls 20 seconds on the field in IndyCar like he did at Laguna Seca
They'll get their other reserve driver. Or get someone on loan from other team. Teams usually have 2-3 reserve Drivers to keep flexibility. And ofc other teams are always eager and willing to let their reserves drive for other teams to get them much necessary experience in current cars in race trim.
There is not a chance he drives an official session for mclaren next year- whether he’s available or not. Hes already been to court and lost about this.
He did an FP1 for McLaren this year though?
I'm pretty sure part of the settlement between McLaren and CGR was that Palou would be allowed to test for McLaren while racing for CGR.
He did an FP1 session in COTA. Part of the settlement of the court case was that CGR would allow him to still pursue F1 opportunities with McLaren this year, it was actually written in as a condition.
Mclaren is just collecting drivers like they are Pokémon
For every 10 sponsorships Zac slaps on the car, he gets a driver free.
Don't give him any ideas, he's already trying to place screens in the car so he can cram more sponsors per sponsor into that thing
Their cars have been running like scarlet and violet the last few years anyway
Oof💀
Let's hope the patches are good...
McLaren: “Have you seen the e-ink patch we put on the car that can run extra ads?!”
Is it that bad? Last one I played was Yellow on GB

Well, tbf Pokémon was always graphically mediocre, and it's on Switch, what can you expect?
It compares unfavorably to PS2 graphics. r/gaming was having a field day with the comparisons last week. The Switch is not the excuse.
Yeah you can compare witcher 3s switch port to SV and its night and day. Gamefreak are just lazy and have been since XnY
Lmaoo
Banger
I wouldn't be surprised if they half of the IndyCar grid reserve drivers lol

My First thought as Well, Palou is a high caliber driver. You dont get him just for some simwork imo
If this driving thing doesn't work out, McLaren can always just make a soccer team with all their juniors and reserve drivers.
Not a good idea. You tell them to play football, you’re gonna see a wide range of responses between Oscar (Australian), palou (spanish), and Ugo (American)
Hang on a second, wasnt he the one who drove the wheels off the McLaren in FP1 at COTA?
2021 Indycar champion as well. He was great in this year's Laguna Seca Indycar race. I'd highly recommend watching it if you haven't.
yes
Yep that’s him.
Are we being literal or metaphorical here?
2 tenths off Norris
Yes, I was very impressed with his performance that day.
What do you mean 'drove the wheels off'? I am out of the loop on this one..
Something [like this.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uqfYxPSbY6g)
I thought it was gonna be Sebastian Buememe
The wheels fell off the car.
That's not very typical
How is it untypical?
Well, there are a lot of cars like this going around the world all the time, and very seldom does something like that happen.
It's a turn of phrase that simply means he drove it well and was quite fast.
This photo makes him look so much like Lando 😂 I had to double take.
Between Lando, Pato, and now Palou I think Mclaren might have a look guide for their drivers. Danny Ric, while a decent looking guy, never stood a chance with the baby face requirements on the books.
Piastri sure fits the mold......you might be on to something here
Zak Brown’s just a massive fan of Chet Baker.
Somewhere in a very symmetrical and meticulously organized lair, Ron Dennis displays a measured amount of smugness.
Lol they all look similar 😂 baby faced racers
Danny Ric is not a good looking guy. You're blinded by his celebrity and personality.
I feel most people on earth would disagree with you but looks are somewhat subjective so neither of us can really know without putting in way more effort than either of us are willing to.
He's a skinny guy with a long face and a big nose. He's not a looker. But everyone in this subredddit thinks every F1 driver is handsome.
Did you somehow forget that attraction and looks are subjective? Or are you just convinced that only your opinion counts as fact? Lmao
Just add Piastri's hair
what is it with Mclaren and young 20-somethings with babyfaces?
They are all good drivers
Brown has a type 😳
I could be wrong but it might also have something to do with how they can dance on the pedals and less to do with their looks ;) But yeah it's a funny coincidence might be one thing stipulated by Ron Dennis?
Wouldn’t be surprised if they are setting Palou up to take the seat in the case Lando leaves to another team in the future
Or if Piastri doesn't deliver.
That was my thought until I remembered who might be the Mercedes reserve next year. Better Palou who can be trusted not to crash but even if he did, he’s on the McLaren payroll.

Pato can’t be a reserve because he doesn’t have a super licence. Palou does.
It’s unrelated sort of, but Palou is fantastic on a sim as well. I was in a race on iRacing with him earlier this year when I was practicing for the virtual Bathurst 12H and he was crazy fast driving the McLaren.
Pato doesn't have a full superlicence, therefore can't really fulfil the requirements of a reserve driver.
That's unfortunate. FIA has to revamp SL points for Indy man... These drivers need to be able to start finding their footing in F1, we're missing out on so much talent because of these arbitrary rules that massively overvalue F1 feeder series compared to other series.
Top 10 in Indy are all f1 caliber with talent
I mean, he's only really done that at one race. Granted its ridiculously rare when a driver pulls 20 seconds on the field in IndyCar like he did at Laguna Seca
Yay, Alex!!! I am excited for him to join McLaren. He’s been fun to watch in IndyCar and I hope this is a positive step for him.
So what’s to do when he has an Indy race and Mclaren need him instead ?
McLaren can call on Mercedes reserves. They never do, but they can.
They had De Vries on standby this year when Lando had food poisoning. It's looking like it might be Mick Schumacher next year.
They'll get their other reserve driver. Or get someone on loan from other team. Teams usually have 2-3 reserve Drivers to keep flexibility. And ofc other teams are always eager and willing to let their reserves drive for other teams to get them much necessary experience in current cars in race trim.

No he didn’t, because AFAIK, it was settled out of court in the end.

Piastri Palou Pato
Great news.
Alex Palou, F3 legend
Zak already set to replace Oscar 😂
