So, turn 4 incident, Ocon pushes Alonso a bit wide which causes Alonso's car to lose traction for a moment, hitting the side of Ocon and causing a hole, which fucked Ocon's pace.
Then, Alonso drives into the back of Ocon, destroying his own front wing.
Perfectly executed sprint for Alpine, can't wait for more.
Yeah I dont get why anyone is that mad at that incident, same as with Silverstone. Sometimes shit just happens while racing, and the FIA should give out penalties according to that. Somehow this seems to be a controversial take and Hamilton/Verstappen tried to kill each other in 2021.
Based.
The biggest issue last year was the whole monza debacle, with Max yoloing it and nearly injuring Hamilton, and then Hamilton trying to back out when Max was getting out.
Max sent it, but made the corner. Lewis pushed him off on the exit of turn 1 and forced him over the sausage kerbs.
You’d think Hamilton would have learned from Valencia 2012 - but then, the stewards decided that the car that got pushed off should have just ceased to exist…
I watched Ocons first 2 laps.he said his rear brakes didn´t work correctly. I think that was maybe the bigger issue. The floor and front of the sidepod seems fine here
If the car catched fire, probably this hole damaged some kind of cooling solution for the PU. Unless the fire originated from the rear brakes, but I don't think we have images from the start of the fire.
> The floor and front of the sidepod seems fine here
That hole will cause:
* hindered cooling = overheating of components = less power
* air blowing out of the sidepod = disrupted airflow around the sidepod and in the rear end of the car = less downforce, more drag
Yeah true, but he was complaining about the brakes, so i guess that was the bigger issue for him. Did the team ask him to cool the car/engine?
I am amazed the car did finish tbh
Sounds like a perfect day for Alpine.
Surprisingly no DNFs after all this for both cars. Wasn't best day for Fernarndo to say the least. The best part is, we gonna get more tomorrow.
Would have been better with a double DNF after lap 1 tbh. Would have saved mileage and mechanic work.
They did probably manage to take out Albon though (his puncture likely was from some of their debris)
They deserve to lose to McLaren
At least it didn't catch fire wait...
Alonso just activated the good old Alpine explosive sidepods
Delayed reactive armor
Well atleast the sidepod didn´t rip itself into pieces like in Bahrain. Progess Alpine, progress..
Didn't it catch on fire after the race? Lmao
Yeah. But it didn't rip itself to pieces. Always look on the bright side of life.
gotta tackle one small problem at a time
I thought it was sarcasm.

It gets even better: Ocon's engine went up in flames meaning they have to change it, resulting in Ocon starting from the pit lane
a bit wide
To be fair, we saw Max push someone much wider last year and they said it was ok
yeah that was one of the most ridiculous defences in recent times lol
To be fair, that should have been a 5 second penalty.
tbf thats racing
Not on lap 1, unless people want to watch car crash pile ups.
Some people definitely do want to watch that.
But only if it involves certain drivers and allows others to escape through it.

This was costing him between 1.5-2 seconds per lap. And with that weird stuff from Alonso on the straight…both their races ruined

can we get a picture of the fire damage?
Surprised this didn't get a black n orange flag
The Alonso Army is out in force today
The Alonso Army is nothing compared to this one guy spamming the threads today
Who?
thanks friend \- ocon, probably
Non Twitter link anyone?
Any hole’s a goal. *unzips pants*
