This is the view I would shell out a grand for, unlike Miami where you'll be baking in high heat and humidity in an ashphalted parking lot to see half a chicane.
Visiting Spa has always been a bucket list item for me, this makes it an absolute must do.
I paid $300 for 3rd row grandstand (turn 18) on Saturday… Thought that was pretty reasonable tbh. If you live down here you acclimate to the heat and humidity if you spend time outside.
It’s pretty good. You can even see a small stretch of track just before the bus stop chicane. If only getting to the grandstand didn’t include the incredibly steep road leading up…
I have a weekend tickets for this stand that I bought for my dad’s 60th birthday (it’ll be our first GP). Tickets were less than all but one stand at Silverstone.
I can understand why an American might be annoyed. Sure it sold out, but a lot of the people going seem to be uninterested in the sport, its a just a social event for posers.
I'm annoyed because I got into the sport too late to be able to afford to go to a GP in my country anytime soon. I'll have to settle for Indycar and Nascar where weekend passes are still dirt cheap.
COTA's sold out this year, and I'd be surprised if it's any cheaper than Miami next year.
Meanwhile I can get a 3-day ticket for Nashville for $141, weekend passes for Watkins Glen for $140, etc.
If you're looking for elevation alone, T1 at COTA is actually higher in elevation than Radillion. Of course Spa is much more iconic.
The North grandstand at Red Bull Ring also offers quite a vantage point - https://youtu.be/mKERsoIvSWQ
[COTA Turn 9 grandstand you can also see the entire back half of the track](https://i.imgur.com/8WO58AX.jpg), which is spectacular considering it was \~$280 for the weekend last year (cheapest grandstand at the track).
Only problem with COTA is that you have to deal with COTA parking.
I feel like it's a general problem for racing circuits. If the track is in a bum fuck nowhere (which is where most of the true circuits are) transportation will be a pain. I've never been, but read horror stories about getting to and from tracks like Spa and Silverstone.
For an ease of getting around, pick a street track (Montreal, Mexico, Melbourne, Monaco, etc) and take public transportation.
You can see like 70% of the track from [Brazil Grandstand A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RD9vwEcWXk&ab_channel=EduwardGriesdoorn)
Only missing the back straight.
I'm sure Miami will get some upgrades in the future. Apparently they were running tight on schedule so they probably had to rush things...
I do like the little kiosks around the track...
I cant think of a better place to watch F1 than this honestly. Maybe Monaco in the right spot, just because its so iconic, but the speed and the history on view here is hard to beat.
The corner is slightly on camber and the uphill is pretty neutral. You can see it better [here](https://www.racefans.net/2021/08/29/2021-belgian-grand-prix-in-pictures/motor-racing-formula-one-world-championship-belgian-grand-prix-preparation-day-spa-francorchamps-belgium-257/).
It's obviously demolished on the picture. Lol. I've read they are going to build a new one before the 2023 season.
[This](https://i.imgur.com/aRjXr0S.png) is what it looked like before.
All those stands on the right side are demolished and not replaced (yet)
I love the way they handeled the modernisation of the track. Improved safety, accommodations for different types of motorsports, better views from new grandstands all while keeping the iconic characteristics of the track itself.
How can anyone say this is a downgrade, sure general admission is reduced but this grandstand is much better for the circuit. More aesthetically pleasing imo too, I already forgot about the white building previously situated there that was only built in the 80’s
Hubert & Correa (among others) accident was up off the top of the hill, so further along & to the left of what we can see.
Also, with regards to accidents here another part of what has been done with these changes is to move the barriers on the left of the track there back so there is more run-off should control be lost coming though Eau Rouge which is the corner you can see here & I think they’ve also added gravel on the outside. Both these changes should hopefully reduce the possibility of cars coming back on to the track in the manner that Hubert did.
Doubtful. The run from La Source to Radillon was already entirely repurposed for the track decades ago (last time it was a public road was 1993, I think), all they did was improve it. If you want the country feel you can still go sit on the hill between Stavelot and the last chicane and watch the cars run by through the trees which is actually a great, really unique experience.
I'd say that's the most dangerous part the track, even with modern downforce levels.
Lando wouldn't have survived his crash last year if it was on F2 or F3...
Makes me wanna go there now tbh. Not that I didn't before but that view is gorgeous.
It truly is. That was what saved it for me going there last year.
This weekend is €50, so sad I can't go
How do I get that spa survivor thing you got?
Was from a thread just after
Shortly after it happened there was a thread where people who were there could request it.
I never got anything. They just ran a raffle
They're talking about the user flair
Yes the user flair
How? General admission ticket?
Yeah this weekends is 6h of spa WEC race
Most race series aren't as ridiculously expensive as F1. For example, DTM is usually around 60€ for grandstand tickets including paddock access
It really is. Looks awful from the outside on TV, but amazing sitting there. Surly the best seats on the track?
I mean those would for sure be the seats I wanted if I were to attend.
Me too. I've never really understood the attraction to the finish line, compared to a view like this its so much better.
Talk about an incredible view it really does give a new perspective to Radillion and Eau Rouge
Damn the view from those seats is probably magnificent.
This is the view I would shell out a grand for, unlike Miami where you'll be baking in high heat and humidity in an ashphalted parking lot to see half a chicane. Visiting Spa has always been a bucket list item for me, this makes it an absolute must do.
> high heat and humidity Humidity is basically guaranted in Spa lol
Yeah, but it's a dry humidity
It's also hot; in a cold way
it's only cold in terms of temperature
Humidity by definition is not dry lol
Sarcasm by definition is not literal... they were making a joke mate.
Yeah I guess humidity is worse than a monsoon forming a mudslide engulfing the track every other year... plus humidity.
Probably because it's mostly temporary.
>This is the view I would shell out a grand for Oh these seats are much cheaper. My mom just bought tickets for us for like 400€.
I paid $300 for 3rd row grandstand (turn 18) on Saturday… Thought that was pretty reasonable tbh. If you live down here you acclimate to the heat and humidity if you spend time outside.
Man I’m here and outside of a few things it’s great, I don’t know what to tell you lol
It’s pretty good. You can even see a small stretch of track just before the bus stop chicane. If only getting to the grandstand didn’t include the incredibly steep road leading up…
Magnificently expensive
Spa is one of the cheaper venues to attend isn't it?
Might explain their financial problems and difficulties paying one of the cheapest race hosting fees.
I have a weekend tickets for this stand that I bought for my dad’s 60th birthday (it’ll be our first GP). Tickets were less than all but one stand at Silverstone.
Do I dare to ask what a ticket would cost for this grandstand?
[удалено]
You can get in to practice today for $87 USD rn. $200 for Quali. Still up over $500 for Sunday but that will continue to come down.
[удалено]
Plus it’s a legendary racetrack
Oh nice!
The Miami race sold out in like a day and you guys still can’t figure out why it costs more.
We know why it costs more, we're just annoyed.
There’s literally no reason to be annoyed. Just watch the race like you watch all the other races
There's also IMSA, those events are always a blast. Love some good old multi class racing
go to COTA or Mexico
COTA's sold out this year, and I'd be surprised if it's any cheaper than Miami next year. Meanwhile I can get a 3-day ticket for Nashville for $141, weekend passes for Watkins Glen for $140, etc.
I checked last week there were still some tickets available.
Austin tickets are already sold out, the cheapest GA tickets I could find were over $500. I got priced out real quick, I just went 5 years ago.
Actually? Where can I get those tickets lol. I’ll buy some and be there tomorrow if I can even get quali tickets for $200
I saw it on SeatGeek but I’m sure it’s fairly consistent across the third-party sellers
I got gold tickets for that grandstand for the entire weekend for 480 euros!
How?
Ours were 500 euros for the whole weekend (bought like 3 weeks before the gp)
I paid £375 for Friday - Sunday from the official Spa site.
Bought 5 Gold 8 LaSouce grandstand weekend tickets for 2.6k EUR, so about 520 a pop. A lot cheaper than i saw some of the tickets in Miami going for.
This is a racing track ❤
We went racetrack building
Best seats in motorsport. Fantastic view.
Will be hard to beat these for sure
I mean must be fun watching rain for 3 hours....
It's a covered grandstand tho
They look amazing. Is there anywhere else where you get as long of a view of the cars, other than the tower in Texas?
If you're looking for elevation alone, T1 at COTA is actually higher in elevation than Radillion. Of course Spa is much more iconic. The North grandstand at Red Bull Ring also offers quite a vantage point - https://youtu.be/mKERsoIvSWQ

Doesn’t hungering have a hill that allows you to overview the whole track or was that Imola?
You can see like 70% of the track from [Brazil Grandstand A](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RD9vwEcWXk&ab_channel=EduwardGriesdoorn) Only missing the back straight.
Turn one at Austria. You can see about 2/3 or more of the track.
Interlagos
The view is good, much better than before, amazing!
I want to go to there
They built this with all the money they didn’t refund.
So tempted to hit up the Spa 24 this year along with F1, this stand is absolutely glorious.
Yeah, I don't think you'd get bored of different classes of car roaring up there. Even if you sat there the full 24 hours.
Spa 24 is just GT3 though
Well then I guess I'll just go fuck myself. GT3s sound pretty nice though. So what's the WEC thing I've seen today with prototypes at Spa?
That one's just 6 hours ;)
That or the sand chairs in Miami? Time will tell which one is the best!
I'm sure Miami will get some upgrades in the future. Apparently they were running tight on schedule so they probably had to rush things... I do like the little kiosks around the track...
This is bucket list material. Awesome track.
now that's a seat worth a serious price tag. unlike the ones for the US grand prix' lol
Orgasmic
What a view!, now I really wanna go next year , gotta save up
God damn what a view
Man that's an incredible view.
Beautiful! Best spot to be during the race for sure
I cant think of a better place to watch F1 than this honestly. Maybe Monaco in the right spot, just because its so iconic, but the speed and the history on view here is hard to beat.
Is Radillon off camber? Looks like it leans outside from this angle.
Amazing view, can’t ever lose Spa.
Was there not a permanent grand stand between la source and eau rouge? Did they demolish it without plans to replace it?
Still there I think, the only big change I can think of the replacement of the old chalet with this grandstand...
It's obviously demolished on the picture. Lol. I've read they are going to build a new one before the 2023 season. [This](https://i.imgur.com/aRjXr0S.png) is what it looked like before. All those stands on the right side are demolished and not replaced (yet)
I'm hoping they get replaced because that's where I've got tickets to!
For the 22 race?
Yeah, I bought the tickets for '19 but have had them delayed for 2 years due to COVID
Welp. Not sure if they are going to be be replaced before the race tbh. From what I've read 2023..
Hmm, the stands are there on official the map for the 2022 GP, will have to wait and see I guess!
Could be that they place temporary stands on that spot this year and make permanent ones next year. But yeah. Wait and see.
which section is this? i have tickets at gold 6 chicane
Eau Rouge-Raidillon
So cool. I wonder how it looks from the bottom of the track
Now this is a race track.
Love it. I want to sit here next year
I love the way they handeled the modernisation of the track. Improved safety, accommodations for different types of motorsports, better views from new grandstands all while keeping the iconic characteristics of the track itself.
They didn't alter the corner just added more runoff for safety, right?
Yes, everything in between the white lines stayed the same. They resurfaced it, but didn't alter it.
How can anyone say this is a downgrade, sure general admission is reduced but this grandstand is much better for the circuit. More aesthetically pleasing imo too, I already forgot about the white building previously situated there that was only built in the 80’s
Who said this is a downgrade
Isn't this uphill straight the exact spot where Antoine Hubert died?
Hubert & Correa (among others) accident was up off the top of the hill, so further along & to the left of what we can see. Also, with regards to accidents here another part of what has been done with these changes is to move the barriers on the left of the track there back so there is more run-off should control be lost coming though Eau Rouge which is the corner you can see here & I think they’ve also added gravel on the outside. Yes :(
Will this take away from the countryside feeling of it?
Love Spa. Is there a place in general motorsport where more crashes happen?
Don't know why someone would want that, but if you like crashes then Jeddah might be your place
I don't want crashes, I was just curious because I've seen many videos of major crashes at EauRouge
I'd say that's the most dangerous part the track, even with modern downforce levels. Lando wouldn't have survived his crash last year if it was on F2 or F3...
Yesus, this could trigger acrophobia. What a astonishing view ♥
If going to spend money on F1 race it will be this grand stand.
that is a magnificent view for all the wrecks!
Is there still a stream under there or is that all gone now?
Wow that's nice!
I'm semi chubbed.
Now that's a gorgeous view of a track from a fan perspective. Seems like it would be fun to attend a race there.
Now give everyone who stood in the rain last year free tickets to the new grandstand this year.
This grandstand alone is making me reconsider if I want my first ever GP to be Monza.
