So boring…. With the new regulations there is no spot of good news in further GP
I don't remember a race that ended in sudden rain having so much stuff going on but at the same time everything staying the same. The last 3/4 were a rollercoaster of emotions with an average wrap up.
Everyone enjoyed qualifying. Now imagine a race day time trail. It would be just like that. That would make Monaco fun and exciting.
The race wasnt bad.
Can we reset and change regulations to make F1 interesting again? Oh wait..
Current F1 cars are way way too big for Monaco. And way too big in general...
>And way too big in general They are 5.5 meters long. That is a full meter longer than say a Civic. They are way too long now.
Almost the same footprint as a transit van, insane
>Almost the same footprint as a transit van, insane When I first read this I was like no fucking way. Turns out the shortest Ford Transit Van is a bit over 5.5 meters. That is insane, why are the cars so long?
Why wait so long to pit Kevin? Cmon man.
They did this a lot with mick last year and he was fucked over a lot for his hard work. This team is a fucking joke
Imagine if he had slid one corner later, missing the pit entrance! Would he have made it around again, or would he have caused a safety car?
[удалено]
True but it is currently more interesting to watch. Except for the wet period today
Missed the race, can someone explain what happened to Sainz?
Ferrari pitted him before Ocon (despite Sainz being on hards and Ocon on mediums) and then shortly after the rain came and everyone pitted for intermediates. So he got fucked twice in a row. Plus he had a spin off and dropped behind leclerc and Gasly as the slicks obviously were terrible when the rain began.
Stop inventing. If Sainz stays out, he loses the position to Hamilton and we would not have been able to overtake Ocon. It was the right call.
Nah, he would've lucked out with pitting straight into intermediates in the same way Russell lucked out super hard. It's not inventing. It's just the truth. At the very least he would've held 4th rather than tumbling down
The truth is that he complained because he wanted to over-cut Ocon by race pace which wasn't possible and that's also what you've indicated by saying: "despite Sainz being on hards". Stop trying the always fault Ferrari even when they do the right thing which was pitting him.
Agree to disagree. I think it was a bad call.
He hit the back of Ocon which broke his front wing, his engineer was Yo-Yo-ing on whether to come in or not for basically the whole and when the rain came he was still on Mediums and slid into the slip road dropping a few positions.
I'm fairly new to following F1, is the circuit lap record only counting race lap times, not qualifying?
Yes. Track Record is in any session, Lap Record in the Race
Correct, fastest Qualifying lap is a separate record.
can anyone tell me how Lance Stroll has a job.. i'm canadian and would gladly root for him but he's just a liability out there the majority of the time.
People defending stroll replying to this.. wow. He is absolute shit who couldn’t drive a go cart at boomers without daddy’s money. With Alonso as a teammate.. it shows how bad he is.
The owner of the team is Lawrence Stroll. His son is Lance Stroll.
His dad is worth several billion dollars and owns the team. Look him up. His dad's business skills are better than his sons driving skills although he's competing in a tough crowd. He has his moments but they're too far apart.
Would have made it to F1 without his father, maybe. Would he race on a team with the caliper of where Aston Martin is now without it? No, no, he would not.
Stroll is a good driver. He struggles in tight quarters racing though. In races like monza where it’s high speed and good for overtaking, he’s pretty impressive. I’ve always thought he would be a legit Indy car driver.
Same I think he would be a really good Indy driver , if his seat is given to felipe, he could do pretty well
>can anyone tell me how Lance Stroll has a job His father is Lawrence Stroll.
He isn't a bad driver, even though he makes a lot of mistakes. And in his defense, he is probably still recovering from two broken wrists (and a broken toe). Obviously these guys are super fit and get the best medical treatment, and we are talking about something that happened over three months ago, but I do think he is now paying the price for not waiting a bit until he started racing again. Sure, if his father didn't own the team... But then again, talented newcomers like Piastri, Sargeant, and experienced rookie De Vries haven't exactly made a great impression. And Mick Schumacher wasn't great either. So it's not that easy to replace Stroll with somebody who is closer to Alonso.
I don't know man Piastri isn't doing too bad. I definitely wouldn't include him in the same sentence as Sargeant and De Vries.
“makes a lot of mistakes” so a bad driver
Max Verstappen made a lot of mistakes but was never a bad driver. Lewis Hamilton made a lot of mistakes, but was never a bad driver. Now, those two drivers really cleaned up their driving style, but Michael Schumacher kept making the occasional weird mistake throughout his career. In F1 being fast is more important than not making mistakes. Stroll is nowhere as good as the best, but he is 24 and has three championship titles in racing, a pole position in F1 and three podium finishes.
He straight up sucks. His dad is the only reason. I wonder if they would ever dream of letting him go for a better driver even if it’s Lawrence’s son. If they had a competent driver they would be locked in in second in the drivers championship, instead they might lose out to merc. Alonso carrying to team.
Yeah man that's unfair I mean he does make some pretty big mistakes and more often than The top guys but he doesn't suck. He's not that bad. But do I think he belongs in a top team as Aston Martin has been proving to become.... maybe not but obviously given the circumstance it's a no-brainer with Lawrence being his dad.
No, his driving record over the years says he doesn't suck. He's a decent driver - not going to be winning (ever) - but he's not a back marker by any means.
Daddy Alonso is clutching it this season.
Lance had a bad race. He isn't as bad as the meme makes him out to be. Quali his floor was damaged so he didn't do well. He probably thought there's not point just following since passing is so difficult; so he over tried.
Alonso - 93 points Stroll - 27
Doesn't mean stroll is as bad as ppl make him out to be.
I mean the numbers don't lie. When was the last time he beat a teammate?
That’s an insane comment. Stroll picked himself up by his dads ownership bootstraps. Give him some credit.
He is at least better than latifi was. He just makes too many mistakes, but his pace can be midfield. He's got a new Spanish daddy to take care of him now 😉
Kills me that he retains a spot after sucking since 2017 while Schumacher was given a HAAS in 2021 and 1.5 seasons later was lined up to be booted. Glad Merc had the sense to grab Mick and keep him involved.
Not defending Lance but Mick was terrible
Mick had the pressure of knowing he was screwed before even completing two seasons though. Lance is on season 6 IIRC and still drives like he is a first year rookie way too often. But yes Mick had a lot of work to do. Only meant to highlight the amount of extra tolerance Lance has managed to get.
Stroll is literally the exception to the rule. Any other youngster has about the same pressure as Schumacher had.
Pretty sure only Mick had the legacy of the name Schumacher as an additional pressure.
Wow, amazing pressure. On the other hand, he never had to worry about money, got into Ferrari‘s academy programm because of that, therefore drove for Prema and used their simulator. Vettel and his uncle were there for him. Even now, his name is enough to be a Mercedes test driver.
Not a whole lot of drivers out there that grew up having to worry about money. Still doesn't change that being given a HAAS and not even two full seasons while trying to live up to the name is a lot of pressure.
This, thanks
His dad owns the team
This lol. He's talented but probably wouldn't have a seat for as long as he's had without daddy Lawrence at the helm
Summary: Nothing happened and yet everything happened.
A very eventful Monaco GP with a whelming result.
Perfectly summed up

Every race you dont watch is boring.
For one time that the Monaco GP isn't boring...
lol you forgot that it rained in the last 20 minutes?
Dumbass, don't talk if you don't know what you're talking about. That was a great Monaco GP with rain falling mid race and two laps of all out desperation from the drivers.
When it takes a bit of rain to make a race even vaguely interesting, you know you have an issue. That was a complete snore-fest until the rain. Time to drop Monaco from F1 - cars are too big and too fast for the track.
Monaco is a qualifying track and that is where it shines. We have enough races to have one unique track to show F1's history and provide the best qualifying of the year.
So it’s not really about the race but the quali ? Just reinforces the point. Time to scrap Monaco before the increasing tedium of the race starts to degrade the genuine good history.
Monaco's qualifying alone puts it on the top half of race weekends. People like you who only care about constant overtaking need.to realize that overtaking isn't everything.
It was a boring audience-repelling race until the rain came. Such races cannot be allowed to continue, they put people off.
Then get rid of the dozen other bore fest races that don't have the benefit of being historically significant. As I said Monaco's qualifying is better action than many whole GP weekends, which gives it enough reason to stay on the calendar.
You realise they'll just fill with another shit American Street track that pays more? Also, even before the race there were some good overtakes, some good strategies playing out, and a bit of unpredictability with driver contact/penalties.
Go away
He is correct
no, he’s not. he didn’t even watch it lmao there was more action than the past two races
Lando was so fast in the last twenty laps
If he didn’t have to pit twice he would’ve had an extra 19 seconds in hand over Sainz…
And he wouldnt have had to overtake oscar and yuki… he was in the fight for p7…
P6 is a touch extreme I think
I meant p7 oop
If only they didn't pit for hard and went straight to inters. Missed chance.
Yeah lando was also told it wasnt going to rain hard or long so ye, missjudgement ig.
It's happened to him before.
Yepp…😃😃😃
If Alonso had gone on inters it may have been a different story, but other than the fantastic car control in the wet, it was yet another Monaco snoozefest.
>had gone on inters Just before he went in one of the teams predicted no rain. Then moments later it was raining on part of the track. Did he go to full wets? It will be nice to see him win again.
They literally had the perfect strategy pushing max on the mediums to the limit. Then for no reason really decided to pit…. And then put on the wrong tyres. How the hell did they screw it up so bad.
were they trying to do an undercut? I'm trying to think what logic they were going for there, as Max is clearly going to be hurting more on the mediums, than Alonso is hurting on the hards. Also if they forced max to pit first, they can then just copy his tyre choice no? I think Alonso was approx 10s behind Max when they pitted? Maybe they thought they are so far behind, they need to take a gamble, and be on the better tyre sooner - and hope to make the right choice.
Yea that’s probably what it was. Take a chance and see what happens. But still. Seems like letting max make the first move made more sense to me.
It was a gamble. Had they just waited another lap...
Yeah Alonso could have had that one if they did no screw up the tyrechange. The rain saved it from being completely unwatchable.
I fell asleep 3 times
It's Barcelona next :'( A real car circuit which means more Max dominance
It would be a lot more fun to attend it seems lol this race is never leaving
You mean it’s a lot of fun to have money?
Pretty much
The rain at the end definitely made it more interesting, but overall, such a boring race
Like a slot car race with just one slot.
If it weren’t for the rain, this could have been the first time ever with no cars retired.
The fact they did 2 or 3 laps without crashing in the wet sector with slicks on was pretty impressive.
I felt bad for Yuki, he was in 9th all race til the rain, then Sainz with that dramatic drift
We haven't seen this level of Dutch oppression since the Dutch East India Company
haven't seen this much overinflated optimism since the tulip crisis
I haven't seen this level of division and spite since the Dutch Revolt
I haven’t seen this level of knowledge about Dutch history since… well… ever…
now for the real racing to start. Indy 500 and then Coke 600 tonight
Indy 500 is also only for the last 50 laps or so interesting
Wait, are you trying to say Indycar and Nascar is real racing compared to F1?
yes
Think he’s comparing it to Monaco as a whole, given it isn’t the most exciting “racing” so to speak.
Very much so, stock cars are way harder to drive, and both are way more competitive.
You have driven both a nascar and a F1 car? Wow
I really hope the 600 gets rained out. I have to go and I'm dreading it
Race was fantastic last year why would you dread going
Because it's pouring out and the race last year took like 8 hours lol
Good luck....really
Eh, fair
How its possible that Mclaren were 2-5sec faster than Verstappen with intermediates
Same way Max put up a 1:12 at the beginning of Q3 on Saturday and finished it on pole. He knows when to drive and when to *drive*.
They were pushing, Max was cruising. Once you get to a certain point in the race and you are sure of your position then the only thing you want to do is get home as slow as you can. A minimum speed is usually required to keep tires in temp window or you lose grip. It's very common for the leaders to be slower than some people in the final third of a race as they are all cruising while others still see the potential to gain a place or have someone right behind them making them keep their pace up.
Yeah absolutely, but they were 5sec faster than anybody else. I took Max as an example because he was on God's mode during this weekend, but they were on 1:27 while every other driver was on 1:33
You don't have to drive as fast as you possibly can to win a GP. You just need to cross the finish line before anyone else. If you can do that while cruising, that's ideal. You limit the wear on the engine and gearbox which might save penalties later in the season, and you reduce the risk of crashing.
Because why push when you have a free pit stop to P2. Why push harder and risk a crash in tricky conditions when going 5 seconds slower than the faster car will still give you a win.
Or maybe Mclaren is a good car in the wets
i love your optimism
Oooh. Fastest Lap for Lewis! Nice. Hadn’t noticed.
Alonso wasn't winning the race without a gamble like the choice of mediums there. Had the track evolved differently or the rain being less than expected, he would have been hailed as a genius. It was worth the shot, he still finished in the same position anyways.
Those Monaco trophy girls 🤤
I noticed one of them eyeing fernando
Can't blame em 😏

He wants a PlayStation.... Lol
Mans still got the game ... dare i say he has upped his game
Ocon calling himself estie bestie lmaooo
I had a good chuckle over that. I had to replay that
Yeah i noticed that too estie bestie
I’m so pissed right now. YouTube TV in America DID NOT AIR THE ENTIRE RACE!!!! It’s gone. No race.
I had no issues watching it on YTV
It wasnt even on TV in atlanta. Thankfully it recorded on the local affiliate where i live so i can go back and see the start of the race
Mine recorded fully, but it is on ABC. I’ve had local broadcast cut the race in the past. It’s possible is only your local station that cut the race.
Not true. That's how I watched the race
[удалено]
Drops two f bombs and calls me a weirdo Nice man
Mine just ended after the podium ceremony.
It did for me. The slot was 6:30 to 10am unlike most race broadcasts which are exactly 2 hours.
Chris Cronin (Alonso's race engineer) manifesting for Spain
You can kinda tell ocon didn’t grow up with many friends
I think that's why his best friends are Lance and Mick, they're also much more introverted than most of the other drivers.
Well, most of them stopped being friends with him.
It's hard to make friends when you're constantly trying to beat the people around you growing up. Being a racing kid doesn't lend itself well to popularity.
it's a question of personality, not profession.
Why
Maybe cause he tends to drive a bit aggressive for no reason other than proving he's better. You could see that with alonso last year and also with nearly all his other teammates
He’s just awkward when he gets excited, kinda weird like your cousin who’s an only child.
None of my cousins are an only child. I am tho... oh...
Lol
Imagine Nando pulling an El Plan in Spain, what a sight it would be.
The crowd would actually go insane. We may get track invasion again if it happens.
Tbf the start and end of the race was typical Monaco , but that middle part with rain was just pure chaos
Next up Indiana
Where do you watch that? Internationally
I sent you a dm
Thanks! I am watching it. This is the first Indy race I’ve watched and man! I’m liking it. Plus I’m Mexican so watching Pato’s potential win on merit is being great!
Pato is an American fave. We all love him.
Pretty sure you can also find a stream.
I'm in the United States. But I know from travel sky plays it
LH seemed to be pushing Ocon very hard in the rain and then backed off completely. What happened?
Once a dry line started to form, overtaking became even more impossible
Ate up his tyres
he was the only one choosing to protect his tires more. He backed off a few seconds then a few laps later Russell had gone from being under a second behind to 5+ seconds behind Ham. Ham went back at Ocon. In the last few laps you just give up when you know the guy ahead isn't running out of tires enough to matter in the final couple laps.
onto CSK vs GT now
Id rather watch Indy 500 lmao
Yeah the one thing where rain wasn’t needed
It rain all over again
