I hate to say it, but I hate the new female pit lane commentator (I don’t have her name; I think she was the former head of strategy at Aston Martin.) Her voice was so monotone; she made such an exciting sport sound so boring. I will say though I appreciated her detail-oriented comments (like the exact number of fresh softs a team had) which makes sense given her previous role, but Paul Di Resta at least had more energy.
Anyone else notice this?
Ted monotone? Ted’s voice is pretty wacky lol. Guy usually sounds like he’s hopped up on a case of Red Bulls, really energetic and sometimes all over the place.
A lot of people complain about him though and call him weird, awkward, cringy, or combination of all 3.
For all the ish Checo gets as a #2, he did exactly what he was supposed to do: Take the pole, put himself in best position to control the race on Sunday.
… still did his job? What do you guys seriously expect Checo to do besides get pole? Guy did exactly what was asked of him.
Spin his car 3 times before setting pole? Drive backwards and cross the finish line to grab pole? Drive with no hands down the straights?
No way, he only needs to fear one or two safety car situation at the wrong moment when Max has already climbed in the top 7. If that doesn’t happen then I don’t see any problem for him. You basically can only overtake on the start/finish straight. So if he can hold of Alonso at the start he will create a comfortable gap in five laps.
The odds were never zero but this year, yeah the front better watch out. We will see how hard Alonzo comes at Perez and how much max gets held up in the field.
This is what I most look forward to. Charles and Max fighting it out to see who can go through the field and actually make it close to the podium. Depending on tire deg, it might not be as cut and dry to pass Charles with the Ferrari top speed and only really being able to pass on the straights. But then again, it’s Max.
Other than the Bahrain fuel pump hiccup they had an almost flawless season last year, so comparing that to Perez barely not finishing Bahrain this year, both already being on their 2nd gearbox before the 2nd race, and Max' second gearbox already having exploded 1 session later...yea it's looking a bit bleak
And sure that's not guaranteed the rest of the season will look like this, but it's not a good start at all
Even if they have to take a penalty every race they still have so much pace they would be the most likely to win the championship. You are being awfully pessimistic when you consider just how fast they are.
Yeah well last weekend wasn’t a cakewalk behind the scenes and this doesn’t seem like a normal situation either. So everyone can get off their highest of horses and enjoy the racing instead of turning off their tv after race 1
Quoting Checo: "you really feel the formula 1 cars come alive in this place"
wtf, how can you say that about a street track, when there are purpose-built race tracks designed with this intention as their main thing?
I have all kinds of qualms about racing in jeddah, but the track is fun as all hell to drive in a sim and I assume it's the same for in the actual cars and that's obviously what he's referring to.
It's pretty reductive to refer to all street tracks in a negative context compared to any purpose built race track. There are shit race tracks and good street tracks
I can see it. Tracks like Jeddah are place where you can literally find and feel the limit of the car being so close to the wall.
Other tracks would promote better racing sure but I doubt there many tracks that provide the thrill and suspense Jeddah gives
transmission Issue I guess. Car started going slow middle of the lap, he had to limp home. Then they quickly realized 5 min not enough to fix, so he got out
if checo can't pull away from alonso with a comfortable gap, max will embarrass him. another side quest - glad the race will be more interesting tomorrow.
Well, if it must be one of those two, Oscar. But I still think Mercedes will be inclined to go in house if the simulator/testing results are good enough.
Honestly I’d be more comfortable with Alonso starting P3 on the clean side and behind George, than P2 on the dirty side in front of him. George can be a bit dodgy on the first corner
Checo doesn't get a Pole people shit on him, He gets the pole people still shit on him because the second best driver of the grid got to close to him.... Ffs🤣
He needs to beat Max on performance to not get shit on, probably.
His pole is good, but Max probably had more in hand, had he been able to participate in Q3 without the gearbox gremlin.
It’s not hate it’s the overestimation of his capabilities which get highlighted a lot around here so the truth (he’s a nr2 driver no wdc material) also gets exaggerated in how often we have to say it.

I liked her.
no just your misogyny. ted kravitz has a pretty monotonous voice too. but i don’t see any complaints there
Yikes on all 3 of your sentences.
Ted monotone? Ted’s voice is pretty wacky lol. Guy usually sounds like he’s hopped up on a case of Red Bulls, really energetic and sometimes all over the place. A lot of people complain about him though and call him weird, awkward, cringy, or combination of all 3.
In what universe is Ted Kravitz monotone
For all the ish Checo gets as a #2, he did exactly what he was supposed to do: Take the pole, put himself in best position to control the race on Sunday.
the car is 1s quicker in quali than others. let that sink in.
… still did his job? What do you guys seriously expect Checo to do besides get pole? Guy did exactly what was asked of him. Spin his car 3 times before setting pole? Drive backwards and cross the finish line to grab pole? Drive with no hands down the straights?
Chances that stroll wins a race this year?
Need to stop Verstappen first. A DNF would suffice. Once he's out, anyone can win.
Pretty good when Alonso takes out Verstappen. Could happen tomorrow
He's in the 2nd best race car. If Danny Ric and Gasly can win so can he
I won’t stand for this Danny Ric slander
Very low, but, I'll give him a punchers chance at Baku and Mexico.
Zero
is it possible to get Crofty/sky on roku app, f1tvpro ? quali was with Jollyon, i dont see any setting to switch feed on roku app
Click on the directional buttons and a menu will come up
arrow bumps fwd back only. its a stick but the remote is same as most
Yes, if it's the same as my roku TV, just hit the OK center button and the options should come up in the upper right hand corner
This is the answer, also have a TCL Roku tv. Select international in the window that appears after clicking OK.
What are the odds now for a Verstappen win?
Perez +120 Verstappen +160 Alo +600 Russ +3300 Etc etc
High Edit: Provided they fully fix issue and there are no other car problems
80% IMO. Checo needs to build the gap ASAP and hope for the best

Honestly Max having issues in qualifying is going to make this race really fun to watch tomorrow
inb4 other cars move apart like pu**ies to create way for the great verstappen and he's P2 by end of lap 3.
Max and Charles will both be on the charge
Red bull’s sponsors are finally getting the spotlights they paid for.
Charles n Max slicing and dicing the field will be amazing to watch.
George: "Back when I was in Williams and Fernando was in Alpine we had a couple of tussles" common Alpine L
Horner looks almost happy in this interview with Sky Sports... maybe he's also looking forward to Max going through the grid tomorrow
So it’s effectively a grid penalty for Mac as well
Bet Sargent crash highly
Goatifi vibes?
Max going P15 because he can’t bear being without emotional rival Sharl

Clean T1 is all I ask for tomorrow.
As a team chaos member, I propose Checo and Nando get through t1 and then it turns into wreckfest

Auld Lonzo.
The last time someone won from 15th was Alonso in 2008, when Nelson Piquet Jr deliberately crashed to give Alonso an advantage
So Gasly is gonna start 9th tomorrow, right?
Anyone think one of the rookies might crash tomorrow?
All of em, no way we don’t get at least 1 safety car
charles it’s time to go into evil mode now
Max will take it easy. RB straightline speed is ridiculous and he’s half a second a lap or more quicker than sergio
I do think Max is going to lose a lot of time in the first few laps. But lets see what happens!
All these truthtellers saying the season was over forgot about reliability. Clowns
They said the same after the first race or two last year
tbf the red bulls were incredibly reliable last year, it's pretty surprising to see the state they're in this time around
Red Bull had plenty of car issues last year. 2021 was the year RB were solid
Red bull had 3 DNFs in all of 2022, and 66% of that happened the first race due to a quickly resolved issue
>it's pretty surprising to see the state they're in this time around You mean between the first and the second race of the season?
Other than the Bahrain fuel pump hiccup they had an almost flawless season last year, so comparing that to Perez barely not finishing Bahrain this year, both already being on their 2nd gearbox before the 2nd race, and Max' second gearbox already having exploded 1 session later...yea it's looking a bit bleak And sure that's not guaranteed the rest of the season will look like this, but it's not a good start at all

I'm only talking about reliability here, have said nothing about championships
Yeah well last weekend wasn’t a cakewalk behind the scenes and this doesn’t seem like a normal situation either. So everyone can get off their highest of horses and enjoy the racing instead of turning off their tv after race 1
you're overreacting a smidge lol
Did Patrice Evra also autograph the tire?
He did yeah haha. They don't normally do they?
I think they always do.
I don't think so but I'm not 100% sure! I definitely thought it was funny/egotistical maybe?
Question: can RB take a penalty here by introducing new components instead of later in the year?
Only if they can demonstrate they absolutely have to to FIA. No strategic changes after quali.
not really, rules are mostly designed to prevent just that
No because they need to firstly use their allocated componets before taking a new(illegal) ones
Why are the pole position award ceremonies always so awkward lmao
Im happy that Nando starts second, but we all know Max will be up there around lap 18/20, Its going to be an interesting race nonetheless
Alonso send it T1 🙏
Alonso on a mission!!!
God I would love it if he won the DC this season!
Quoting Checo: "you really feel the formula 1 cars come alive in this place" wtf, how can you say that about a street track, when there are purpose-built race tracks designed with this intention as their main thing?

Yeah, it has many real life issues but its fun as hell to play on.
I can see it. Tracks like Jeddah are place where you can literally find and feel the limit of the car being so close to the wall. Other tracks would promote better racing sure but I doubt there many tracks that provide the thrill and suspense Jeddah gives
That's not a street track mate. No cars drive that 'road'
I guess he meant fast swiping corners but i feel you
What is Patrick Evra doing there?
Random af
I'm gonna be disappointed if Charles doesn't fully embrace his dark side and roll out next season with an all black Ferrari
I hope it happens, a flat black with red accents Ferrari can only get me so hard.
That would be hot
Leclerc looks a little defeated
Charles vs Max in the midfield lmao
wha happen to max, i missed q2
transmission Issue I guess. Car started going slow middle of the lap, he had to limp home. Then they quickly realized 5 min not enough to fix, so he got out
thanks, i just saw a replay. Christian said it was actually the right driveshaft
Gear box issue. Wasn’t able to set a time.
Engine issues in q2
Gearshift failure
Driveshaft broke or something
Driveshaft problems i think
driveshaft issues
Transmission blew
Transmission blew
for sureeee
if checo can't pull away from alonso with a comfortable gap, max will embarrass him. another side quest - glad the race will be more interesting tomorrow.
He had a real bad start last race too.
alonzo intends to embarrass somebody. if it's possible to jump checo he will
alonzo intends to embarrass somebody. if it's possible to jump
Charles is so, so good. Shame we can't say the same about Ferrari
Calling it now Alonso, Verstappen, Pérez tomorrow
Alonso, give us a show tomorrow.
Max trying to get past LeClerc, George, and Alonso is going to be fun
George wont be a problem. Leclerc and Alonso will put up more then a fight i reckon.
Charles desperately trying to dig out his sponsored watches and bracelets(?) while the guy was waiting to interview him hahahaha
Would love to watch that. Any link?
I can’t find any link for now, but if you can find somewhere to watch the end of quali P1-3 interview it’s right after Checo.
Would love to watch that. Any link?
and then just deciding, "it's probably fine if I just hold the bracelets instead of struggling to put them on"
what are these interviews even…
Useless and too many
Yesterday I said that we would get top 3 today and now tomorrow top 2 maybe a win. LFG
Alonso could have done better
One lap has never been his strongest quality. First sector could have been better but he picked up the pace in the other two
my biggest question for 2024 season is whether Norris or Piastri is going to replace Hamilton or Sainz ?
Give me Piastri in Mercedes in my VEINS
Well, if it must be one of those two, Oscar. But I still think Mercedes will be inclined to go in house if the simulator/testing results are good enough.
Honestly I’d be more comfortable with Alonso starting P3 on the clean side and behind George, than P2 on the dirty side in front of him. George can be a bit dodgy on the first corner
George has always battled very cleanly with Alonso, he has a lot of respect for him. I wouldn't be too worried.
George's racecraft Is lacklustre there is reason to be worried
that note underneath... Leclerc: First start from the front row of 2023. Ehm nope!
Charles said there wasn’t much more he could’ve done
Will be interesting to see Charles and Max cutting through the field together tomorrow!
Charles never did much cutting through the field comparatively when both started in the back
Max will run through it but Leclerc's tyres will disappear after 8 laps
How many times everyone should remind everyone that RB are on a league of their own? we get it by now.
México killing it this weekend in sports! VIVA MÉXICO CABRONESSSS
haha I’m Puerto Rican so still in pain but I said the same thing. VAMOS MÉXICO!!!
What else is going for MEX?
World Baseball Classic! first time the team passes to semis
San Juan Gabriel nos esta bendiciendo del cielo QEPD nuestro Divo
Good luck against Japan! I want a rematch of our group stage game in the finals. If anyone can shut down Japan’s lineup it’s Sandoval.
Sergio just wandering back and forth behind Charles lol
Hear me out guys... Verstappen is going to win.
If he doesn't get damage at turn 1 that's a given.
Obviously
Nope
With each new race, the light in Charles' eyes grows dimmer
Tomorrow is gonna be lit seeing how Max will pass Perez, probably gonna happen in pitstops
Tomorrow is gonna be lit how Perez wins the race. Will happen with pure pace because he’s a talented driver that everyone loves to hate on.
What do you mean? I thought that everyone likes Checo.
Waiting to hear that the RB is setup for race pace
Charles: "Yeah I think I was pretty much perfect there, it's just a shame that my team fucking sucks" (Mildly paraphrased)
I mean pretty much true
Pretty spot on actually
Checo doesn't get a Pole people shit on him, He gets the pole people still shit on him because the second best driver of the grid got to close to him.... Ffs🤣
Bro, his car is nuts. You can guarantee that if Max was in there, he‘d have been well into the 27‘s.
He needs to beat Max on performance to not get shit on, probably. His pole is good, but Max probably had more in hand, had he been able to participate in Q3 without the gearbox gremlin.
Lmao right? Just say you hate Perez 😂
People hate him for no reason, he delivers podiums and points
It’s not hate it’s the overestimation of his capabilities which get highlighted a lot around here so the truth (he’s a nr2 driver no wdc material) also gets exaggerated in how often we have to say it.
They prob hate him for not being closer to Max and challenging him. I think he's doing a fine job
Hamilton had a pretty terrible run. Man looks like he's checked out right now.
Maybe Angela’s been the secret to his success all these years.
Checo at street circuit is just something else.
How can you do this only here lol. Sounds unintentionally insulting
who the fuck is this interviewer?
A bum
A pundit for the Arab F1 broadcast and a former racing driver
Checo coming after Arozarena for Mexican sportsman of the week
lol
Checo with that little bit of pettiness in his soul: LOL "Yeah, no I'm glad it was only the driveshaft and nothing else."
Ferrari doesn't deserve Leclerc
I agree.
McLaren’s stop gap car is still hugely competitive and that’s absolutely frickin hilarious.
*Pole position, how do you do this only here?* Bit of an underhanded compliment to open the interview...
Now it's 5 am off the sleep for 3 hours before getting up for work
Aussie Aussie Aussie!
George being up there all through quali (esp over Lewis)! Impressive
what was carlos doing that gap is crazy
This interview is not it
why does leclerc have a penalty
He changed his 3rd internal electronics I think
New power unit and 3rd control electronics
3rd engine electronics replacement
New ECU
Interviewer didn’t do Checo good with that “Only here”
Checo Pole Pog. Mighty first lap on Q3, got lucky there in the last lap. He braked too late into T1.
Is that… ‘Gentleman, a short view back to the past’ guy?
