When they did this to the FSCE class we went to AFSA and most of us that started within the previous 2 years got an admin promotion to the new starting grade .
u/Aranikus_17 How do you know that new hires (anyone on the register but not starting orientation yet) would be brought in under the new starting salary guidelines? Is that just from precedent or were you able to confirm w/ an official source?
u/Islandlife2011 In addition to Aranikus confirming...the registrar confirmed for me that folks who haven't started A-100 yet are eligible to come in at FP-04 (provided you still meet the requirements) even if they applied under a previous announcement that had FP-05 starting.
This is fantastic news! Had heard in some internal calls that a grade increase was not being discussed, so this is a welcome surprise. When OMSs had this happen last year I believe untenured OMSs already working got a grade bump too. Curious if this will happen for IMSs as well.
I found the ALDAC in question. Have your friend review 20 STATE 90430. They outline admin promotion timeline for all OMSs at the 07 and 06 level as of last September. If she hasn't had an admin promotion, she should reach out to someone ASAP.
Good to hear! It sounds like I'm in the same boat as some of the others, experience-wise. I'm on pins & needles - waiting for security and suitability to wrap up, and hoping I don't linger on the Register too long.
Question about the Information Technology (IT) Specialist's application process. Does the submission of 6 Personal Narratives and the Statement of Interest essays conclude the application for us? Are there any additional requirements to qualify for taking the real exam?
How does Information Management Specialist test (IMST) differ from the standard FSOT?
[Step 2 in the IT Specialists application process seems clear](https://careers.state.gov/work/foreign-service/specialist/information-management-specialist-selection-process/), but just want to confirm details.
Please help me understand what is the next step after completing the 6 Personal Narrative and Statement of Interest essays. From an aspiring IT Specialist applicant in New York City. Thank you.
Is it common for applicants that have recently graduated with an AS in IT to get hired? I'm currently studying for an AS in IT and I hope to work as an FSIMS at an embassy abroad after graduation.
Thank you to anyone who replies.

I would've come in as a 4 when I joined... 3 months ago.

My husband is in suitability for IMS, he has a Masters degree and 20+ years IT experience, would he enter at 4-14 in your opinion?
Yes

It’s already happened.

In a similar situation as your husband. I asked the registrar for confirmation, I'll let you know what they say.
Just passed the OA this week, so that salary bump is nice to see.
Awesome! Good luck with your medical and security clearances. The bump is long overdue imo.
Thank you!

I think they stopped onboarding grade 7 and promoted any existing 7s to 6.
Awesome!
I just passed the IMS QEP, would I be able to qualify for FP-04?
Read the announcement for what you need to qualify for FP-04. You can still qualify for it even if you applied under an earlier announcement.
Nice! I think I'll get FP-04 step 7 or 8 with where I am at in my GS job

Remember when we came in as an 06? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Now if they'd only let us old-school 25 years experience, no degree, guys apply.

Reread that. May apply now.

I just submitted my personal narratives and statement of interest (limited to 300 words). Taking the IMST this week.
