Godwin owners should be happy sitting him considering he should've been drafted for the long con.
Right? Long term invest
Sweet. Still not starting him tho. Gonna take the wait and see approach.
How is this sweet? I would've preferred he rested this game
This is basically a preseason game for Godwin. You can’t just “rest” and show up and play 90% of the snaps in an NFL game. He’s 100% recovered from his injury. This is about getting into game shape.
It’s at least a little sweet that he’s this far along that he feels good to go at some percent. If he can get however many snaps this week, it’ll just be even more next week hopefully
Better to see him get reps and decide if you want to start him for week 2.
rather than watch him week 2 then decide week 3.
Disagree - he’s not nursing a nagging injury, he’s coming back from offseason surgery. I’d rather see how he looks W1 to decide if I play him W2.
It's a sign that he's basically healthy enough to play. No way I'd start him until we see him perform, but this potentially puts him in play for week 2. It would be hard to start him week 2 if he sits this week.
It's sweet cause if we're all gonna wait and see with him he needs to be on the field for the see part. Not gonna randomly start him because he waited until week 3 or something vs getting in game action early.
don’t have godwin but they wouldn’t rush him back if he wasn’t ready. if i did have him i’d rather him use this game to shake off rust and definitely wouldn’t play him
The reason for not starting him is because we want to see him on the field to make sure he's back to himself before we start him. If he rests, we don't see that and then don't start him if he comes back next week either.
The Bucs wouldn’t let him play if they had any doubt.
this sub is hilariously dumb. Imagine thinking this is bad news.
Who’s starting him? 👀
my opponent is.
so expect him to have an absurdly big day
Not if me starting him has anything to say about it…
your sacrifice would be appreciated 👉🏻👈🏻
Me, either I bench him for Nico Collins & Treylon Burks or roll the dice. I’m gonna risk it, deep leagues be like that sometimes
In this case you absolutely go with Godwin. The most experienced and proven of the unknown factors here :) on a side note - TITAN UP. Hope Burks crushes it.
Me. It was either Godwin or Julio if Godwin sat. This is the worst outcome lol
Same. This is stressing me out lol
I might slot in Godwin over Aiyuk this morning and if shit hits the fan, Julio is my alt lol.
With heavy rain forecast in Chicago, I think that's a fine strategy. I have Julio backing up Godwin as well, but I'm itching to start Godwin if positive news breaks
Let’s do it man. r/ff is all zigging, might just zag here and see if it pays off.
(Worst case scenario Godwin gets a donut and evens it out w/ my opponents Akers haha)
Somewhat desperate people / gamblers
My other option is Jakobi Meyers (14-team), tough call but I’m leaning Meyers
I already started Henderson over him, I’m happy enough eight 12 on Thursday
I’m sitting him still. I have Devonta Smith against a terrible Lions secondary so I’ll take my chances with that
If he played in the early games I would. Can't risk him not playing Sunday night and being forced to stream Scotty miller.
Entirely depends on how the earlier games go and what I need. CGod will be on a snap count which will limit his upside. So I'm going with Julio if I need the big game. Both are complete dart throws though.
I’m gonna. If I get cold feet I’m benching him for Jalen Tolbert… SNF GTDs already 🤷🏽♂️
If I start him, he'll see one or two targets and take it easy the rest of the game.
If I bench him, he'll have 8 catches and a touchdown.
And if my opponent starts him, he'll go for 10/120/2TD
I’m benching him regardless. I’ll take the hit for the team so all of you can get the 20 points 💪
Well keep us updated on what you roll with!
Let us know what you decide tomorrow lol
That’s usually how it works
My opponent is going to start Gage or Julio. Please bench Godwin to eat into their target share.
The beauty of auction drafts where I spent virtually 100% of my budget on too cheap JT, Swift, Allen, Brady is that I basically have to start him. So I don't have to worry. I might start him expecting 2 targets. It's either him or a questionable rookie like Doubs, Alec Pierce or Dotson.
Why spend up on 2qbs?
Ahhh gotcha, nice QBs
I suppose, but the rest of my roster is Godwin, Metcalf, Woods, MVS, Knox haha.
Those two targets could be TDs lol
Bench him please
In that case, I have Mike Evans so go ahead and start him for me
Anyone else starting him with me, so when he goes 2/19 we can be sad together?
There are dozens of us! Dozens!!
I am in two leagues. Starting him over Nico Collins in one and Ramondre in another.
It’s either this or starting Aiyuk with immense expectations like everyone else on r/ff and being let down as well.
I’m going Godwin (+Julio as my alt) and hoping for the best haha
"That said, Tampa could remain cautious and slightly limit his reps in the game due to the injury, a source told Schefter."
tbh that doesn't sound as bad as I thought it would be
Slightly limiting his reps probably means sitting him if we take a big lead by the 4th lol
After he goes 10/150/2 of course
I’m gonna bench for Bateman and Cooks. This is great news though. Will fire him up week 2.
Fuckkk, this is going to definitely be messing up my mental tomorrow
Rule of thumb I usually have is to not play a guy immediately coming from injury or who has big injury questions going into the game. I went against that rule with Keenan Allen a couple years ago and I'm never doing it again.
Was that the TNF game where Keenan Allen went to the camera and yelled START ME?
Yeah that's the one
God this just gave me PTSD. Burned me big time that day
I have to either start godwin or Kendrick Bourne in an 18 man guillotine league. I’m stressing, clearly more upside for Godwin but with my luck he’ll just run routes to get back into the swing of things and drop a dud getting me eliminated week 1.
12 man 3 wr 2 flex league it’s either start godwin or pick from my scrap pile of gage/doubs/garretWilson/sterling Shepard for my last spot. I’m playing godwin and gage will go off
I'm in the same situation. Rolling with Doubs I think. I need the upside since my opponent had Kupp
I can’t play doubs confidently YET but huge on him, the coach the surgeon the team doctors and Godwin all said they wouldn’t play him until they feel he’s 100% and a 75% snap Godwin is better than any of my other options
I should have mentioned that it's a dynasty league in rebuild year for me. Mostly excited to see if Doubs has the talent with Lazard out.
Doubs Deff does I went back and scouted him heavily when he was making his name in camp. Guy huge and faster than he seems deceptive in a way, also every single person who’s scouted him mentions his release and his route running in general. Also high iq when it comes to finding openings
Appreciate the fuel for my confirmation bias haha. I'm a Vikings fan so I hope he has a good game, just not too good
Wtf I drafted this guy thinking he'd be rdy by like week 6
I drafted Russell gage thinking the same.
Starting Renfrow over him would still be the right decision here, right? (Yes, in PPR).
Without a doubt
Don’t even think about it for the rest of the day. Even if Godwin magically pops off, you made the right choice
I'm not going to chance it. I'm going with Christian "moneybags" Kirk this week at least.
Have to decide between Kirk and Godwin. Leaving Godwin but it’s tough
Nah go Kirk
Gosh, Godwin or Toney? PPR.
Go with Gosh
Same boat for me.
I’m penciling in Toney. So you should go Godwin.
In the same boat. I don't think we can start Godwin though
Same for me - starting Godwin
Leaning Toney but reallllly close call for me
Have you folks seen the videos of him working out on youtube? Start him with confidence.
I’m a diehard Bucs fan and have been a huge Godwin Stan since the day he entered the league. You will legitimately not find a harder worker in the nfl than him. It’s probably the main reason he went from 2nd round pick to one of the best wr in the league. I totally agree, if he’s playing he’s probably gonna go off
Godwin was a 3rd round pick, and a lot of the best WRs are drafted that late or later
I'm tentatively starting Thielen over Godwin this week.
Even with Godwin playing, there's no way he sees a high percentage of snaps. Especially with the stacked Bucs receiving core. Look at what just happened to Cam Akers, only on the field for like 12% of offensive plays.
If Godwin goes off, I guess he's good to start next week. But I think the play here is to keep him on your bench and assume he's going to only see limited action.
It's really just Mike Evans and the shell of Julio out there. Gage is on the wrong side of questionable
I had a dream where thielen's stat line was 4/25/2 so that sounds like the right move.
Now do Dobbins
I’m a tad weak at WR should I start him or Sammy Watkins
In for this answer lol
Watkins. He’s always good week one and Lazard is out right?
Chris Godwin or Jahan Dotson?
Same question here. Who u going with?
I got Godwin, Pickens, Burks, or Dotson. Tough call
I’m starting Boyd over him. I’m afraid he’ll be used as a decoy.
I'm between Boyd and Zach Ertz.
Based on this should I pick up Pickens over Julio ?
Based on pickens being way younger you should pickup pickens over julio. But julio could go off tomorrow. But pickens will be better if you include weeks 1-14
eh ill go with renfrow/moore in my wr2/flex
I'm starting him.
Making my injured MT vs injured Godwin decision harder now
Yep. Same boat. Im playing MT.
I’m leaning that way. It seems like the safer play
MT is safer
Thought I was the only one in this predicament 😂
Cordarelle Patterson, godwin, or chase Edmonds in my flex? PPR
I’m legitimately struggling here lol
Godwin to cause more chaos
Hes back already? Mike evans was gonna eat.
Mike evans still going to eat.
He has diggs trying to see if he can catch more balls than evans. So there will be some big plays to be made tomorrow. If you have an all day slate that include the night game.....evans is a near must start
Look up his week 1 stats last year.
3 of 6 for 24. I'm not saying that'll be his stats this year but that was when he was shadowed by Diggs
If They hold Mike evans to 3 of 6 for 24 - then tom brady will have 4 TD passes - likely one each to julio, russ gage and 2 for fournette.
By week 6-7 offensive coordinators figured out that diggs is a ball hawk only corner. I think brady will throw 3 TDs or more today, but i cant predict if that would be to evans.
But I have been wrong before (like once along time ago)
Mike Evans is a hall of famer and great player. He was over drafted this season though. His adp went up mostly due to Gronk retirement and Godwin injury. Then Julio signed to fill the Gronk spot and Godwin injury news got really positive. Evans’ adp never came back down.
Evans should have been in with the 4th round WRs, not the 2nd.
I think you have undervalued him.
I like him alot better than almost all of the guys who went in the 3rd round. (DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Michael Pittman, AJ Brown others)
Stuck between Dillon, Hunt, Pierce or Godwin and no idea who to start
Roll out Pierce.
I had Godwin in my Flex with Pierce on the bench. Was about to swap Pierce in then i got this news. Still not sure how to handle it.
Dammit I was hoping for him to IR, but now I gotta drop my fliers
Still starting Lamb and Pittman over him in one league. The other league, I’ll flex him because my options are limited. I’m hoping for the best.
Now this is something I wasn't expecting
I’m ready to be hurt
Now I gotta decide if I should start him in 3 leagues
Should I fade Julio and grab a different lottery ticket? Like Watkins or Dotson?
Watkins is week 1 king. Then he’s crap the rest of the season.
I'm benching him. I just can't stomach the risk.
I'm playing against him, opponent has nobody else worthy
DK over Godwin? Damn..
Can’t place him on IR for an extra week seeing if my late round fliers were hits, and likely can’t start him either in confidence.
Not even going to risk it
Jacobs or Godwin for my flex (PPR)?
I’ve got Jacobs in Flex and I’ll start Godwin week 2
I have Brandon Cooks, should I start him over Godwin?
I think I would.
If he plays it’ll probably be in a part time role. Snap count type of thing just to get the jitters out. Having a 0 from Akers and 1 pt from Knox it’s too risky.
I’ll be starting Devonta Smith over Godwin 🙃 can’t do this may or may not play BS with an 8pm game
How is this just coming forward at 1:00 a.m. I’m very skeptical.
I heard this on sirius xm 4 hours ago.
Oh, well that’s much better!
Not starting him but I'm so happy I got my guy as an Arob insurance policy.
That's good, but I'll start Bateman anyways.
It's good to see godwin start week 1, so I can watch and decide for week 2.
Better than watch him week 2 and decide for week 3.
Godwin Or Elliot
glad i took him out for arob :)... :(
Let’s go! I’m playing him
Agonizing between Mooney (weather), Godwin, and Toney. Full PPR.
Oh man. Check the weather before kickoff. But I might still go Godwin... I like Mooney a lot this season but that game (sf/chi) is projected to be low scoring with Chicago betting 6.5 point underdogs even before the weather. Not a great choice to have to make but it is what it is.
I have to pick Godwin or Julio… no matter who I choose, the other one will score a lot
Godwin or Watkins? Ppr
Godwin or Pierce
JRob or Godwin?
Godwin or Pickens? I'm so torn lol. Godwin is the smart play but I think Pickens will be Chase 2.0
Godwin or Chase Claypool or Drake London?
I'd start Godwin or London
Godwin or devante Parker?
No better option available? If not then I would probably roll the dice with Godwin.
Michael Carter is the only other one
My Mike Evan’s stock slightly dislikes this
Godwin or toney??
Godwin or Olave?
I own him. I hope he plays and has a good, healthy game so I can start him with confidence next week.
Should i start Toney > Godwin?
I need to start Godwin or Woods. Maybe I'll just flip a coin?
Godwin or Devante Parker?
Love Godwin but starting Robert Woods this week. I drafted Godwin not expecting to start him week 1 and I’m gonna stick to that.
Well crap.. Do I start DeVante Parker or Godwin now..
In a 12 team 2 flex league should I start Hines or Carter ahead of him? Yuck
I need a boom . Is Godwin the play ? Maybe I just leave Kareem Hunt in my flex for today 🤷🏻♂️
Hmmm. My other best flex options are Tony Pollard or Robert Woods.
Hopefully he's used as a decoy, allowing Evans to go off for something like 10/100/2 (or at least better than last season's 3/24/0 bullshit).
I drafted Godwin in every league I’m in. I didn’t do it for week 1. Take it easy out there sweet prince and carry me to the playoffs in the second half like last year.
With Godwin expected to play, do we have faith in Julio as a flex? Or should we be pivoting to other options?
Wrong thread but fwiw I'm between him and Pierce.
Godwin or Breece Hall no PPR ?
Sad Mike Evans noises
Do I start AJ Green over Godwin this week?
