Trade Value Tuesday | So It Begins Edition...
By - wheresderek
Got rejected when I offered Joe Mixon for Jonathan Taylor straight up.
Holy shit lol
I mean I think if you were to re-draft right now, knowing the Mack injury and seeing that Rivers will still be checking down 10-15 times a game, I think Taylor and Mixon would probably get drafted pretty close to each other. The big knocks on Taylor were that he was going to start behind Mack and also that rookies are generally unknown commodities. But I tend to think in a redraft now Taylor and Mixon would be drafted in similar tiers.
So with that in mind I don't think it's crazy for either side to decline Taylor for Mixon. It seems like a pretty lateral move in either direction.
Also, if I'm the Taylor owner in your league I see your offer and think that you must think Taylor is more valuable than Mixon, which is why you're trying to swap. So why would I do that. Generally swapping players of the same position have this same problem. Clearly one team just likes the other player more so why should the other team accept? Maybe if they were a big Bengals fan or you think more risk-adverse and don't want a rookie. But generally, if you're offering me a RB for a RB the trade is not meant to fill a hole on my team, I know it's because you want my RB more. So I usually would come back with your RB + more for my RB.
A better way to approach that trade, IMO: Let's say for argument you are weak at WR and this other team is stronger at WR. You offer Mixon + WR3 for Taylor + WR2. This actually makes it seem like you are offering this trade because you believe Mixon is more valuable than Taylor. You can try to make a case that they're upgrading from Taylor to Mixon and downgrading at their strong WR position from a WR2 to WR3. Maybe they bite, maybe not. But I think it's a better starting point because it does not make it clear that you actually do value Taylor above Mixon. And at the same time maybe you can upgrade at WR if they bite. It also let's you feel out how they value Mixon vs. Taylor.
Offered exactly this but pulled it, may start a negotiation. After the Mack injury, i don't think its far fetched. Rewatched the Jags/Colts game on gamepass and JT looks explosive, he has the athleticism/o-line/opportunity to be a top back. Rewatching the Bengals game too, I like Mixon still but I think his draft capital was high enough still (IMO some people will still take that capital into consideration) to get Taylor out of it. Its a gamble, but I like the upside.
Was this before or after Sunday’s games lol
After the games, including after Taylor declared week 2 starter.
Mixon isn’t really some hot commodity especially after his week 1...
The 10th overall pick isn’t a hot commodity after 1 game?? Really?
I just threw out a Mixon and Ingram for Hockenson (lost Jarwin) and Taylor feeler.
Might try to add on it a little and get Kelce and JT for Mixon, Ingram, Dobbins but that'd leave me a little thin at RB
His value is fringe rb1 but I dont think anyone will actually pay that price
I was able to trade Chubb for Taylor and Waller right after the news broke. Hoping it doesn’t come back to haunt me but I liked the potential I’m buying into.
nice i do like that trade.
Would you do my Carson for Jonathan Taylor?
Owning Taylor I would not just cuz you’ve heard of the potential but I think this is a fair trade.
Taylor owner and he is a strong hold right now.
Kenyan Drake for Jonathan Taylor?
I'd prefer Drake, but similar ballpark. SF was a rough week 1 matchup, and he still had a solid line. I get vibes that Arizona is going put up some serious points this year.
Also have taylor, was offered Slayton/Hollywood + Carson for him.
hmm tempting, I think Slayton will be great all year and Carson will be ok to decent this year
its tough getting back a WR cause I also have DJ more, cooper and evans
Yeah if you don't need it, then not worth trading
If Mack opted out, Taylor would have had a rush of hype pre-draft settling him around Chubb/Mixon/Drake, its gonna take just as much to get him as any of those guys. Don't think "i'll trade the guy I took in the 3rd round for JT, who was a 4th rounder" is going to get you even in the trading door.
I put out a feeler to the Taylor owner offering Godwin and was rebuffed.
This deal all depends on roster construction here.
His WR are Lamb, Raegor, Edwards, Renfrow, and Pittman and has Chubb, Taylor, Hines, Lindsay, Robinson and Snell at RB. Start 2 RB, 2 WR and 2 FLEX. He also drafted two TE in the first 3 rounds and finishes at the bottom every year.
That is a seemingly very bad team
I sent Ekeler and Gallup for him in .5PPR
Came here to see if someone did this too. I traded Ekeler for JT straight up in full PPR
Had to include Gallup cuz he was weak at WR and I don't like doing 1:1 trades in the same position. Got accepted in minutes
Let us know how it goes
I'd say it's hard to determine an appropriate value because we haven't seen a full game of him without Mack.
Traded mahomes for taylor and rodgers
This is dirty
If I had Carson I would be trying to trade him for Taylor
I'm on the fence of offering Julio for him in hppr. Probably an over pay week 1, but it might be the only time to snag him.
That was my logic in offering my WR 1 in Godwin. With Taylor's talent, Indy's O-line and Rivers penchant for peppering RBs with targets I think he'd go top 10 in drafts today.
Traded Fuller + Bell + Crowder for Taylor + Parker + Jeudy
Offering Carson and Slayton for JT and a bench WR, guy has Michael Thomas
I have JT and I now see him locked in as an RB1. He has it all going for him now: talent, opportunity, great o-line, and he’s being targeted in the passing game. I have him ranked as the RB9 behind CMac, Zeke, Saquon, Kamara, Cook, Henry, CEH, and Jacobs.
Edit: forgot to include Josh Jacobs. My post has been edited to include him.
what do you guys think of taylor + kupp for henry
Perfect post week one trade haha
Wouldn't accept as Adams owner in .5 PPR. I think Adams will be MT level this season, so take it with a grain of salt.
I actually agree with this take if he stays healthy. I think it would take a ridiculous overpay for me to deal him
As a Josh Jacobs **TRUTHER** (I took him 7th overall) I would not trade him for Adams
Im sending Drake and Evans, Im loaded at rb and he needs help there.
Jesus christ I would take that in an instant.
I’m assuming after the injury? I would decline as the Mostert owner. Conners health is just not worth it at all to me. I feel like even if he does play Steelers can’t give him any more than half the touches just to keep him from breaking (my own speculation).
Hard no imo
12 team, half ppr: a wet fart in a paper bag
I own wet fart in a paper bag, I'd say no personally.
Adam Gase's thong.
But seriously, nothing more than a WR2 or low end RB2/high end RB3. Maybe TY, Diggs, or Gallup. Nyheim Hines or Dobbins maybe.
Ya'll sleeping on Bell just a bit. We get he's not an RB1 anymore, that doesn't make him garbage. Dude averaged like 15 ppg in PPR last year outside the 2 weeks he was hurting, and there's no way that he or the Jets could be any worse than they were last year.
He’s also hurt...
>there's no way that he or the Jets could be any worse than they were last year.
They were 7-9 last year. Trust me, it can get way worse.
I got offered Bell for Dobbins and said hell no. Idk who would want to deal with Bell on their team at this point
i just had one of the more hilarious trades that i've seen.
bell for ingram. maybe im the only one who found it hilarious but its such a sideways trade. the ingram owner drafted him in the 2nd round.... and was willing to trade him away after that 1st game. the bell owner ...i dont know what he was thinking.
it just seems like a lose lose trade imo.
I don't think you're getting what you invested so it would have to be for pieces you believe will emerge.
He is a very polarizing player. You either think he's a top 5 guy or you think he's capped at RB2 with Hunt there.
Just traded away carson for A Jones
wowwwww, good on you
Strongly considering Juju for Carson. Haven't decided yet, but I'm strong at RB and worried about WR.
Juju looked pretty good with Big Ben back. May be worth pivoting for you if you're weak at WR.
Agreed-- and I think the range is about right. Juju clearly outperformed his ADP and Carson was a bit better than expected.
Edit: pulled the trigger. As long as one of Kelley, RoJo, Robinson work out I'm golden.
if you're the owner of Mixon, you're going to get trash offers for him based on his week 1 performance. IMO, it's not worth trading him unless you're on the receiving end and can fleece the Mixon owner.
For sure I agree, I just wanted to see roughly where Mixon is valued this week.
I offered Amari Cooper for him personally, guy is considering it
Just sent Carson + Hunt for Mixon if you want a data point
Just traded Carson to get Mixon. Feel like a bandit.
Just got him and chase edmonds for Jamison Crowder in a 14 team .5 ppr
This is a great trade for you and why depth is so important in deep leagues
Got rejected when I offered Joe Mixon for David Johnson in 2 leagues.
Also got rejected when I offered Austin Ekeler for David Johnson.
would much rather have mixon
This is unbelievable lol. That guy is a huge DJ homer but DJ Should have a huge role all season long until injury
Funny, I offered our Mixon owner DJ and got rejected. 12 Team, Superflex, .5 PPR.
Did you fuck his wife too?
I know aj brown underperformed but its crazy to me that dobbins has a higher value than him...
Think this is a decent gauge of his value. You got people on both sides saying yes/no.
Gurley owner. Love Ridley but no way.
I just traded away Kittle for Calvin Ridley and Cam Akers
Not a fan of that trade for you.
He's a hold. No one is touching him outside of a RB3 (Nyheim Hines) or something.
The two others are way off base. More likely a WR3 like Slayton/Marvin Jones/Gallup
As a slayton owner I'd probably accept a trade for malcolm brown if I needed a RB
Was offered Slayton and I’m going to accept. Was originally going to offer him to the Mack owner for his Tyler Boyd but I’d be shocked if he accepts
JuJu smith schuster
Bag of chips
Just got Jonathan Taylor for him
These responses had better be joking, he’s still #2 behind Julio. Maybe by week 8 he’ll be worth an RB1 but not after 1 game.
Not at all, when Ridley gets 7+ targets he’s almost always performed as a wr1. That falcons defense looks just as terrible as advertised. And there’s no Austin hooper now to take targets away.
I watched the whole game and as a ridley owner, I'm looking to sell him high. A lot of people here says there's no Austin hooper to take away targets but I think russel gage will take away some of it instead.
Any thoughts on Hursts usage? couldn't catch the game
He made an incredible full extension diving catch. I think he will be a big part of the passing game. He played a very high % of snaps and he's super talented. Matty Ice loves his TEs. I'm a Falcons homer so take it with a grain of salt.
Hold on ekeler his value is way too low after last week. He’ll touch the ball more once tyrod Taylor gets benched for Herbert (which he should)
Maybe thielan/godwin/moore? Its gonna be hard to get good value out of him after his week 1 usage
No way theilen or Godwin would get offered for ekeler imo. Maybe djm
As a thielan owner, no way. Not after week 1 stat line.
No way would I trade Thielen for Ekeler
He got 19 carries, just saying. That's great volume and volume leads to production. Ekeler owners should probably hold steady for now, spend a waiver on Kelley for insurance, but no reason to panic at an RB getting 19 carries.
Absolute hold. Broncos offense looks good and he should be the clear #1 after yesterday's performances. Sutton --- > Fant --- > Jeudy / Gordon
Hold. He's another big performance away from kicking down the door into the kittle/kelce tier
Was traded for Malcom Brown and Tevin Coleman in my 14 team PPR
I think you're best bet is to hold. Baltimore has elite corners and his value is likely as low as it's going to be all season right now. With that being said, if you must trade him, I'd aim for someone like A-Rob, DK, or Moore.
I had woods over obj in my draft. No way I'd ever trade for him.
Was offered AJ Brown. Didnt need another wr, but couldnt say no either.
Got offered Fuller + moss for him in ppr (which I'm taking). Dont think the value is that bad yet, just cause of his name value
One week away from waiver wire fodder
I think a lot of people are being a little quick to dismiss Ingram. He didn’t look great but aside from falling into the endzone twice it wasn’t like Dobbins went off. I see this being a messy situation where some weeks Ingram is getting in the end zone and some will be Dobbins. Both flex options but neither necessarily pulling away and Gustaf Edwards still getting some work.
Dobbins was good, even laid down a nice block for Jackson on a run but Ingram will have his games.
im trying desperately to trade him lol
Will Fuller V
Gonna try and move him while he still has name value - I think goedert is the guy moving forward.
I’m trying like hell to package ertz + woods for an upgrade at wr or ertz + carson for an upgrade at rb.
Carson had a monster game, so selling makes sense however I don't think it'll be worth it. Carson seems to be the guy in the backfield and 6 targets doesn't hurt either.
Lockett in PPR
I have a hard time parting with him. He's valuable and will skyrocket if Chubb's hurt.
You think he has a safe enough floor to be a weekly flex play?
Don't believe the week 1 Sammy hype. lol I got caught with it last year
Sell high right now he does this every year.
I got offered Aaron Jones, Swift and Julian Edelman for him. My Rb 2 is LeVeon. My WRs are Sutton, Diggs, Lamb, Reagor.
I’m on the fence. I haven’t pulled the trigger.
Who else do you have at RB? I’d be tempted for sure.
Pretty large beneficiary if Michael Thomas has a lingering injury.
With that said, Cook doesn't really have any trade value yet.
He was traded for Josh Allen in my 0.5PPR league this morning
His value is tanked right now due to his still “undisclosed” ankle injury.
People will lowball for him but until something conclusive comes out he’s still a WR1 in my eyes.
Would Mixon be a fair deal?
I say it’s decent, but these may be two of the players with the farthest difference of opinion from person to person.
Don't sell. You're not gonna get enough back for him now... and that's after 25/138/1.
You have an opportunity to own a fantasy cheat code. If I'm thinking about value, it's gonna *hurt* to buy. I'm *expecting* an overpay.
Jonathan taylor or Chris Carson ppr
