When I lived in the Mid East they were demonized to me.
When I came to the USA I met many Jews and was careful around them. As I was taught.
But they weren’t careful around me. They showed me hospitality. They helped me when I needed it. They offered me their friendship. Not all of them of course, some weren’t friendly, but the ones who were changed my mind.
I’m happy I’m not longer prejudiced against them.
I am azerbaijani so i like the jews, ig. We never had that hate other muslims have for jewish people or israeli in general. There were even a few jewish people in my school, both teachers and students.
oh, if you don't mind me asking, how do you feel about Armenians?
I am neutral about them. If i met an armenian person, let’s say in a more neutral country, I’d have prejudice but i’d still talk to them normally. But i still think karabakh is azerbaijan and armenia had no right to do what they did. There are a lot of political conflicts between the two nations so i wouldn’t ever like marry an armenian or become close friends but i would not be absolutely rude to an armenian if i ever see one.
My dad always makes sure to say EVERY bad things he can about Jews.
I just think they're people.
I like them better than Muslims and Christians, that's for sure.
I grew in Iraq where anti-semitism is pretty widespread and genocidal. I remember how in high school the boys would talk about enslaving and raping Israeli women when the arabs would finally destroy Israel, which made me laugh on the inside because even then I knew Arabs and Muslims are the most loser-y loser group of people in the entire world (as if they could even take an inch from Israel lol), but at home my mom always praised Jews because her dad used to work with them back in the day before they were ethnically cleansed and he only had positive experiences.Nowadays, I get along very well them and I don't give a crap about Palestine so there is no chance of any arguments lol
That's pretty much my experience as well. My Iraqi parents would praise them because of their good micromanagement skills but everyone else hated them. When I met them in the us they were extremely kind and I understood their point of view more
Oh btw did you know amba was an Iraqi Jewish invention? They made the greatest sauce of all time
I'm pretty sure amba is originally India (the fruit it made of is definitely India at least). I'm not surprised Jews brought it to Iraq though; they were probably the most creative community in the country (classical Iraqi music owns them so much!)
They definitely popularized outside of Iraq; all the Israeli falafel places in Montreal (where I live now) have it!
You're right all the ingredients are indian but, from what I read, the recipe is Iraqi Jewish. I think the story I heard was that it was created when Indians started to trade with Iraq so much that their spices were readily available. I'm guessing the Jews just wanted to use mangos so they came up with it
I wish I had good falafel places here. The only place here puts like 3 on a plate with a ton of bulgur all over
I am completely opposed to their Abrahamic cult but overall, they’re people that I admire as an ethno-religious group, and unlike Muhammedans, they have reached at least the basic essence of decency and humanity.
But all in all, nothing special. Most are decent, a minority are assholes, and an even smaller minority are saints. Exactly like all other groups.
Even when I was a Muslim child I was baffled by how antisemitic all the adults in my community were
Same, I didn’t understand why
They are some of my favorite people, especially if reform or secular
I literally HATED Israel and the Jews so much as a muslim and I couldn’t tell you why, they’d engrave it in your head as a young child. The way the Jews are so demonized in the Middle East is so scary.
My family and I have never hated jews. I have always respected them and I’ve never hated someone for being apart of another religion.
I love em, I know they get a bad rap but in my experience they're the nicest and most intelligent people you can meet.
islamic teachers always talk about the jews and why they're so successful, they're out to dominate the world by making muslims play pokemon go, etc
but I've never met one, and never knew how they looked liked until one day when I was 15, I googled jewish people and looked at images. All I see is bearded black haired white men with hats and suits. Living in southeast asia, I have never seen anyone with those characteristics or even heard them talk, yet the damn islamic teachers talk about them like they sabotaged the economy for the 15th time this year
Aku ingatkan 'yahoodi' ni nama setan, tapi rupannya agama ni ajarkan engkau macam mana nak jadi racis 101 (abang hitler sedang mingikut torturial ini)
>what are your thoughts on Jewish people?
[I can vouch for my handler Moshe, what a mensch he is! Always on time.](https://www.reddit.com/r/exmuslim/comments/5216cd/proof_that_you_get_paid_to_leave_islam/)
Lmfao bro y'all getting paid for this shit? And I'm over here going to hell for free?
Can confirm, I visited Zion GmbH on my stroll through Zurich last month.
Now that I have you here. Can you confirm if I'm correct about the street in the picture:
You don't speak French so maybe you're not familiar with the French speaking part of Switzerland. Worth a try none the less. 🤷♂️
Difficult to tell for sure, but it [does look very much like it](https://email@example.com,6.149342,3a,75y,63.33h,91.03t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sU9oGDDfQEB9S8PpSTnoU5Q!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) based on the store, the pavement and the railing. No vertical sign, but that might be more of an indicator that the photos are out of sync. I haven't been there myself, still too much to do on this side of the Röstigraben.
I might cross over if you've got some recommendation that don't include buying lingerie.
Some are nice, some are assholes.
I have no special view on them.
Are you talking about ethnic Jews or religious Jews?
Both actually. I've had experience with only ethnic Jews but when I was in the middle east I was always told to hate both
I thought it was just religious Jews Muslims and the anti semites hated
Oh no I'd say ethnic Jews are hated even more. Islam believes they evolved from monkeys and pigs
Yeah it’s strange that they hate Jews but get exited when one converts to Islam
Yet somehow don't believe in evolution
I actually asked a Muslim guy about that. He said the theory of evolution and the big bang make God look weak
Why not say that God made the big bang I feel like that would make someone look powerful but ok
That's what I thought too. Like what's more impressive a god who can create beings out of mud or a god who can create an explosion and see that in trillions of years it'd lead to the creation of humans?
No, I never hated the Jews. When we did talk about other religions in masjid, it was usually Christian slander, not Jewish, probably because where I am at, there’s a Christian majority as opposed to a Jewish one. So they didn’t really indoctrinate me into hating Jews but I did have a slight dislike for Christians, although not too much because of the many similarities that I saw between Islam and Christianity that made me feel like I had to respect the Christian scriptures
I have no problems with Jews as long as they are not Zionists. To be fair though, that mostly applies to European Ashkenazi Jews. All of the ones I know are super friendly and theg mostly don't care about politics, religion, and the Middle East.
same as muslims, no problem with them themselves but their religion's content, and what it demands their followers to do, is problematic
I never hated Jews but I did think Israeli Jews had a victim complex culture problem and was heavily pro-Palestinian after learning about the history through Ilan Pappé. But it wasn't any special kind of hatred reserved for Jews. I hated Russia for similar reasons (i.e Syria)
I'm still pro-Palestinian but I have shifted more towards a neutral stance after seeing what some Palestinian ex-muslims had to say about it.
I don’t know much about Judaism. I heard it has elements of sexism and isn’t very LGBTQ+ friendly. However, I always resort to treating people based on the content of their character. Jewish people are no exception to this rule for me.
Politically don’t like them. Regular people uninvolved in politics are just like everyone else.
Jewish is not a political orientation, they vote in all different directions. Are you thinking about orthodox Jews who often vote as a block for very conservative bills/candidates?
Sorry, I was referring to the state of Israel and its defendants with that sweeping reference.
Then you'll be happy to hear that plenty of Jews in Israel vote against Israeli politics :-)
😎 that’s what I like to hear
Oh, we’re terrible. /s
They're just as bad if not worse. In fact, Judaism is an example of religious extremism finally getting their right of way... If you know you know...
I don’t like that they are stealing all my data but other than that they are okay I guess
The non political ones are some of the nicest people i met
The Jews are a wonderful people. Now, I wish more would change their minds about Jesus Christ, but I love them all as one would love a distant cousin.
I'm confused what do you mean change their minds about Jesus? What do they think of him?
I'm talking about their rejection of him as Mashiach.
Oh obviously they'd reject him when half of Christianity goes against Judaism's teachings
Muslims get mad when Christians don't accept Mohammed as a prophet. Same thing really
