This is amazing! I love the insights and that makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing. It must feel good for all that hard work to keep paying off. :) as someone with adhd, I’m just totally impressed by your output as well.
A question on the mega bundles: did you bundle your shorts and then bundle them again as a mega bundles, or only once?
Thank you :)
A bit of both. Most of them were in smaller bundles, and then I also put them together for the megabundle, but there were a few exceptions.
I never bundled a story more than twice - I've seen advice to only bundle stories once, but my logic was that small bundles and megabundles would have different audiences.
That's awesome! I've gone through periods of a few months where I've not published and my royalties have remained at similar numbers to yours, although to be fair not a whole year away. Like you, my sales are largely due to a couple of megabundles. One in particular is a year old and still pulls in $150-200 a month.
Not detract from your achievements (or mine) but as a fellow Aussie I think we're benefiting greatly from how weak the Aussie dollar is atm compared to the greenback. I noticed I'm getting more per short sold than I used to just by virtue of still selling them at $2.99USD.
I'm looking to start another pen name and it gives me confidence knowing the sales won't totally tank while I take a bit of a risk on that.
Congratulations on your megabundles too :)
Oh yeah, the weak dollar is definitely working to our advantage. We're probably some of the only people in Australia who get happy when our dollar tanks :D
Thank you!
They’re coming along very, very slowly. I’m writing them around another job and I’ve had a few mental health glitches this year. But I’m still making progress :)
That is amazing. Well done. I am only just starting. Still learning how to publish and book covers etc which is more overwhelming than writing!! So congrats on moving to the passive income stage!
I charge $9.99 for megabundles. But that’s consistent with what’s selling in my niche - you’ll need to do your own research to find what works for your audience.
All my stories are 5000-8000 words, but it’s likely to be different in your niche (so my advice would be to study what authors in your niche do and copy them instead of me).
This is fantastic! Hard work pays off. And I feel silly for not realising that the weak Aussie dollar means more profits from the US dollar. So we should welcome it. I thought it was the opposite. *facepalm*

Congrats on your success. How are the romances novels coming along?

This is super interesting and encouraging, thank you for sharing!

What is a megabundle?
For me, it’s 20+ stories bundled together, but sometimes you’ll see many more than that (like 50 or 100).
Thanks. Are you charging more for that?

Are your bundles themed or set in the same story universe?
They’re standalones in the same niche
Can you tell me the usual length of stories in the mega bundle? How long is one story usually?
All my stories are 5000-8000 words, but it’s likely to be different in your niche (so my advice would be to study what authors in your niche do and copy them instead of me).
I think my biggest roadblock is “where to start”. I have a few stories that I’ve written but so much info.
It’s like eating an elephant: start with one bite. Publish something and see what happens. Then learn from it.
I meant more like “where”. I did set up a smashwords account that I need to look more into
