No! They actually grow out of plant growth that looks like the top of a pineapple. The way that you would expect a kid who doesn't understand plants would tell you it would grow. Just a single fruit in a little spikey bush. It's neat, would definitely recommend checking out a picture. I'm definitely not doing it justice.
If you eat too much pineapple your mouth will sting, burn and hurt for the next 20 minutes because pineapple contains enzymes that try to digest your mouth in the same way you are digesting the pineapple in your stomach except the HCl.
So yeah its much more appropriate to call it painapple.
Also pineapple is neither a pine nor an apple. It's a cluster of berries that grew together and happened to fuse into one another. Each "spine/spike" on the pineapple is one berry. If you cut it in half, you can see the stem (hard part) and the eyes, which are individual berries.
Also only one pineapple grows from one plant at a time, which explains why they can get very expensive.
Also banana is a berry but modern bananas have been inbred a lot to have maximum edible matter and minimum seeds. Search wild bananas to see a much more 'berry-like' banana. They also grow in clumps but don't fuse together.
Well it is true in my case, i forgot the english name for it but i have an allergy to something inside lemons, kiwi fruit and pineapples and when i eat them my tongue literally gets cuts and starts bleeding for hours. I heard that it was a quite common allergy too. So yea it is a pain apple for me
**[Manchineel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchineel)**
>The manchineel tree (Hippomane mancinella) is a species of flowering plant in the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae). Its native range stretches from tropical southern North America to northern South America. The name "manchineel" (sometimes spelled "manchioneel" or "manchineal"), as well as the specific epithet mancinella, is from Spanish manzanilla ("little apple"), from the superficial resemblance of its fruit and leaves to those of an apple tree. It is also known as the beach apple.

I can see the logic. Pineapple? That cannot be right as Pine Trees do not have apples. It hurts when you touch it so it must be Painapple.
Genius logic.
Hurts even more if you eat it whole.
Do pineapple grow on tree (tho?)

Yeah my grandma grew pineapples before. I was asking in a sarcastic way

The word is an accurate description of a pineapple plant. They are stiff serrated, and pointy tipped shrubs that only seem to want to hurt you.
Anything is a dildo if you're brave enough.
