I want more sorcerers who got their powers from beings who consider the sorcerers they make as their children
By - Killer-Of-Spades
I second this notion.
Goes for warlocks, too!
My Archfey lock was that way. Matron tricked his parents into the pact in order to conceive, so she's now a flighty, jealous, overbearing Archfey who claims to be his mother. Doesn't usually end well for any romantic interests he develops.
You’d love part of my campaign then. Blue Draconic Sorceror NPC but now he’s constantly followed by an adult Silver Dragon that’s become the ‘friend of your parents’ non-blood related aunt since he was adopted by a famous silver dragonborn Wizard.
My aberrant mind sorcerer is the host of an aboleths spawn that she will become, so she both is and isn't the child.
And Aberrant Mind is dope as fuck to play. That spell list and 6th level ability feel like hitting a 4th gear as a Sorcerer.
There's a Protector Aasimar Cleric Fighter in my game whose Goddess actually gave birth to the PC via Athena-section, and she wastes absolutely no time being a wonderfully affectionate mom who happily gives her kid and their friends trail snacks and travelling ale, as well as blessing any steeds with a Boon of Protection (I bribe the DM with pizza so none of our steeds die, they just run away from combat and danger.)
What accent does the DM use for the goddess? I'm imagining a Minnesota accent!
Nah, pure New Orleans Southern Belle.
The trail snacks are usually bread bowls heaped high with spicy gumbo and jambalaya.
The trail ale is usually sweat tea halved with lemon moonshine.
Is your Cleric/Fighter's spells flavored to be like New Orleans stuff? Like, cold damage are made to be like daiquiris? When using religion related spells, they sound like a Southern reverend?
Not really, but the PC is from a New Orleans of the world, so like, they do throw daiquiris and preach like they're a brimstone and fire evangelist when they're talking to a crowd.
Don't piss her off and you won't have a random drink thrown at your face and crotch.
I'm from New Orleans too, and this sounds so fun!
It's really fun. So long as you aren't on the receiving end.
What Domain are they?
War Cleric and Champion Fighter.
I'm trying to imagine a War god as a Southern Belle mom and I LOVE IT!
May I suggest adding to her backstory that she is a former Light cleric, but the temple was actually ruining her life!
([Definitely not my inspiration](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS90B4sZf7U))
Idea: Abberant bloodline sorcerer who's ancestor is a Beholder. The child is pretty much the sole exception to their omnidirectional bigotry, and they're a constantly first time parent who is trying really hard to be a positive presence in their life.
Are beholders really bigots if its towards everyone that isn't themselves?
I'm pretty sure it just falls under the highest form of narcissism mixed with paranoia
Those are two of the most important ingredients for bigotry. I'd argue that all of those things describe a "typical" beholder.
Bigotry has to do with one group versus others. Beholders value themselves over literally everything, including other Beholders.
"Anyone else" is a group. You can absolutely be bigoted against everyone who's not yourself. I get that it's not specific to race or anything like that, but I don't think that precludes it from being described as bigotry.
Have you read [Katalepsis](https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/28023/katalepsis)?
Fuck yes, my favorite web serial right now
Huh, hello there, that's the first time I've met someone who have read it.
Same here lol
No? Should I have?
Main character there could be described as an aberrant mind sorcerer.
If you like fiction with eldritch horrors, great characters, character development, humor and magic system that doesn't contradict itself every five minutes you can give it a read.
Why thank you good sir. Don't mind if I do then. I wish you pleasant day.
Well, my tiefling warlock turned sorcerer/wizard old patron turned out to be her father lol. Joked about him being the bad influence parent during her upbringing and that turned out to he absolutely true I guess
I have an idea of an aborrant mind sorlock whose patron is literally also his estranged father.
Isn't that warlock with more steps?
