Not to mention using our individual weaknesses against us

Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer! As is a lack of long rests.
I see Darkest Dungeon, I upvote.
A very good game, yes. Currently trying a full playthrough of it, since i have had a bad habbit of starting new games. It is safe to say that i yesterday went a bit too deep over my head... I was as close to a tpk as the videos party
Through sheer luck, i somehow survived with no casualties
My first game of Darkest Dungeon ended quickly. "Hm. Place a light here? Well, don't mind if I do."
As victories mount, so too will resistance.
I run a middle earth campaign and quickly got my players to level 5 because I realized most of the monster stat blocks are not intended for level 1s. Even a couple of warg riders could wipe a party at level 1, now they are level 7 and while they can take on most fights it’s not without needing some serious healing afterwards or everyone needing some healing as they have the party and some companions
Are you playing a modified version of 5E? Or an actual Middle Earth RPG?
Adventures in Middle Earth 5E. Where most orcs have multi attack, a ‘+7 hit and poison on their blades. Quick way to wipe a level 1 party. Oh and trolls have an ability with a 5 turn cool down that allows them to auto crit if they want.
But even that’s modified because I set it for the 1st Age in Beleriand and made some new lieutenant bosses and a campaign that mimics a Shadow of Mordor/Ghost Recon Wildlands boss system so the players have an excuse to travel and fight different people and raise an army. They just hit level 7 and this is where the fun begins.
They had a tpk back in Nargothrond (almost tpk all wiped except one person since someone else held off the enemy and is assumed dead but Morgoth being Morgoth is going to corrupt the hero and make them a future boss fight).
That's pretty badass! Thanks for the info, I hope it works well for you!
This went over similar with a part of level 4s and we nearly got completely mauled by an invisible stalker and pitfall traps trying to escape it
Was the centaur out front at least fun to talk to?
we did not properly listen in on the warning what the centaur had said and My elf bard “failed succeeded” pointing out an entrance and had the led the fighter dwarf and herself to fall into the very traps those so called wisps would’ve led us to immediately instead of gradually. So I suppose it was fun
That tomb is damn dangerous, especially at level 4! Good job making it out alive.
Back in 3.5 my party was getting super cocky and too big for their britches. So I decided it was time the BBEG made an appearance.
The party managed to fight her off, but not without the help of their group patron, a golden dragon. By the end of it, one player was turned to stone, one was blinded, another died and got reincarnated by the druid, and most everyone else was in very rough shape. Their patron also took some hefty damage and her wounds wouldn't recover.
Having fought the party, she's actively taking measures to make her next fight against them a decisive one. She's setting up countermeasures to address each character. I look forward to the day the party encounters her and gets their chance for a rematch.
Now, I know some people here might call that being an adversarial DM. Know then that my objective is not to "Win" but to challenge my players. This is the final boss, the last hurdle, the epic conclusion of their adventure. She's a lich. She's intelligent and powerful and has lived for centuries and is actively trying to tear down the dragon marked houses of Eberron. If she just flops over dead the moment a fighter waves his weapon at her, the emotional payoff will be a let down. When they fight her and try to overcome her, I want them to feel accomplished at how far they've come. So naturally she's not going to make things easy on them..like any smart enemy, she's taking their strengths and weaknesses into account so she can better address them as the legit threats they are to her and her plans. My goal is to challenge the party. HER goal is to win.
Don’t forget encumbrance
Encumbrance is the bane of my Pathfinder party.
I get it.
My DM hand waived encumberance for anything that isn't major gear. I'm a no magic fighter/assassin. Guess how many times ball bearings, caltrops, and other tools like those are used in combat so far?
Now guess how often Kalam has slipped on his own ball bearings he forgot about? Yes.....yesssss. We use wagons for loot, though :)
That's not one of the Arkham games, is it?
One of the best multiplayers I've seen in games in a while. Horrible matchmaking but amazing multiplayer.
I *completely* missed that one.
Yeah haha... I totaly dont do all these from the very start of the game
Very very good
As a first time DM I feel so embarrassed about how much this is me.
Well if you have lingering injuries all the time then underconfidence is never in short supply

Yeah... hopefully in ours we get to leave the place from where we are. Cause apperantly. We werent suppose to be there
This feels like a meme format waiting to happen.
You think he just does to every elevator he goes into just in case?
Ouchie, good luck with the rest of your game!
