Yo Jake got taken to town by that rook on that play. Damn.
Pay R. Smith whatever he wants
Chase Lucas gonna be solid
SOL mental mistakes I like this team though I see 6-8 wins
It's preseason LOL
So what??? Lmaooo it’s still the same old lions shit I don’t care if it was 4th string they always find a way to lose
-17 and still goin... lol
-19* it’s okay I didn’t expect anything less lol I seen a lot of good in this first preseason game like the rookies. But those back up QBs are atrocious. If our defense stops over-pursuing so much but it was fun to watch disappointing ending all I’m saying
Damn dude you should be on the coaching staff deadass on God my guy..... LOL
Maybe I should I’m gritty
6-8 wins, sure. SOL, stfu
First team offense looks great - OL, passing, running, everything. They are picking up where they left off from the end of last year, when Goff and the Sun God developed a chemistry.
Defensive play (both first team and reserves) concerned me - missed tackles, overpursuit, and (like last year, highlighted in our 44-6 home lost to philly) a lack of awareness as to the possibility of bootlegs and scrambles by a running qb.
Blough looked very good, Boyle looked similar to last year. WR depth is great. Jefferson (really the only back to get significant opportunities) ran rather tepidly.
It is just preseason, but Kennedy going for over 100 yards will raise eyebrows. Trinity Benson better bring his A-game in the next two games if he does not want Kennedy taking his roster spot.
To all the influx of new fans…this is nothing compared to what we will experience during the regular season.
It ended like a typical Lions game, but I thought starting offense looked good.
First team defense is looking very troubling. I'm kinda glad we lost this one because I want pissed off Campbell to address this.
At least Hutch is looking like the beast he was advertised to be. Everybody else? Not so much.
Reminder, this is just the preseason.
Tough luck. It's obviously too soon to tell, and there is like a million variables during a season. but I liked our starting offense. our starting D is better, but not great. We might be a bit Fd if our starters go down. Hopefully we trim some of the fat sooner than later, and these backups can step up.
It’s wild how even in the preseason all our games come down to the last play
I called it that TK85 was the player to watch in one of the prediction threads and he played out of his mind. TK85 GOAT
WR6 & QB2
Highlights: I love our starting offense, I love Hutch, & I can’t wait to see some more Funches…
Cons: Defense, backup QBs are a mess, and defense.
Howd Saint brown do? (If he played? )
He did amazing. But he’s already a proven player
I get that. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a sophomore slump.
He had 2 receptions, first one was a 8 yard out (nothing to special) the second one was a deep over that he went up for (great play.) Overall solid day for Amon seems to be trending in the right direction.
He played the first series and he was excellent. The whole first team offense was.
Jack Fox backup QB.
Disappointimg, but getting through the next 2 games injury free is more important
I know there is a ton of hate for Boyle but I feel Blough can only get away with some of his moves against 2nd and 3rd strings as well. Both had some very good plays and both had some very bad plays.
There is a chance one is cut to create depth for another position but I think it will be close on who that is.
Lost the game on a fumble by the 3rd string QB. Not going to complain too hard about that.
Preseason chip outta reach. Dang
It may be preseason but losing to the rebuilding, matt ryan-less falcons is unacceptable. Lions sure are back!
pssst: Lions are also rebuilding. (Pass it on)
It’s not that deep
Kennedy would have had a very viable shot at that if Webb had not "blocked" him (without touching him), good coverage tbh.
Oh well. Four days to Hard Knocks.
What are our takeaways for the rookies.
Most of what I've seen from them was good. They have some stuff to work on, especially run defense.
Up on hutch, Kerby Joseph, Rodriguez and chase Lucas.
I'll take those. Any real unexpecteds?
Jarrad Davis didnt look terrible. Okudah was a tackling machine \*had a bad play on man to man though, The run game looked... not great. Amani got burned a few times.
As long as it's buildable. I have faith
No shame in this loss, we were 1 fumble away and mostly playing pretty good.
If this was a real game, I have no doubt we would have won with ease. The back up QBs sold 100%
Big fat L folks good to watch you all fall apart, see ya next week
So many downvotes Lmfaoo https://c.tenor.com/7FwsF8f4OJoAAAAM/first-time-really.gif
How do I post gifs fuck
Big fat L
Call me a Lion
In all seriousness I’m pretty disappointed in how the defense played today
Particularly the 1st team
Well, until next time, gentlemen
I still think blough way outplayed boyle , the hell was with that anemic run game though?
Lions do not have a second team QB.
Said it before, say it again, Just fire boyle and blough and let jack fox do it.
1,900 yards and 18 touchdowns at quarterback in highschool. He's a Jack Fox of all trades.
TK85 can do it all too
Fr. If Goff gets hurt, we might as well just go with Fox/Kennedy and accept the tank.
Kennedy makes that play and it’s an automatic roster spot
He’s already automatic from game 17 last year
Y’all that are crying about a preseason game are legit pathetic lmao
We've been bad so long sometimes pre season is like playoffs for us
tbf, preseason or not, its not like the players arent trying to win.
Why does this happen in preseason too? lmao
Didn't realize Tom Kennedy was cosplaying as Amendola
Tom Kennedy stock 📈?
At this point I’m mostly worried that he doesn’t clear waivers if they waive him to sign him to the PS
Rams were 0-3 last preseason so clearly losing these games means you’re going to lose a lot in the regular season too
Like going 5-0 in a preseason....
Lions won all 4 preseason games the year we went 0-16
And they were 4-0 in 2011 as well, which was a pretty damn good year. The overall record is meaningless. For the most part, you just want to keep it close as a way to measure your depth against other teams
10 secs. That 1.5 mins flew by
Kennedy is making Blough look good.
Tom Kennedy having a great fantasy week
There's really not a better undrafted QB or FA other than Blough and Boyle?
This. There's not some mega athlete type psuedo QB we could be working with as a wildcat type of guy instead of two carbon copy nothing burgers who throw late on the majority of their attempts?
When blough squatted and stuck his arms out for the ball at the snap, it reminded me of Chris Farley doing his van by the river bit.
Was rooting for Eze but he's looked bad on the last couple drives
what do you expect from a guy who went to memphis, lol
I’m pretty certain he got offers from most of the SEC
Does anyone want to be the backup QB?
Sure. But he is not on this Lions roster.
they should just have Fox do it
GG. fun for a preseason game.
Did anyone else just get a commercial in the middle of a play?
Announcer: A redemption opportunity for David Blough
Me: Oh god we’re fucked.
NFL+ won’t even let me sign in to listen to the radio broadcast
I have + premium and they cut the game at the end of the third for the packers gae, I think I get to see replays though but still , FTP
97.1 should have a website
I’m listening to lions radio on SiriusXM now which is working fine
Total BS I can’t believe they switched the damn game
Put in Boyle to clean up this mess!
Did anyone else just get switched to fucking Green Bay? They just said “nah” and switched the shit
TV broadcast still works. Idk if you'd want to watch anyways
I can live with that kind of TD pass, a great play by QB and WR.
What I am irritated by is all the ridiculous bootlegs and scrambles this rookie has had. I assume we will be scheming a lot better to handle Jalon Hurts.
On a positive note Aidan will play the whole game against Hurts so we got that to look forward to
Thank god this is only preseason otherwise I'd be losing my shit right now.
Zach Wilson might have a torn acl :(
I hope he gets better, after december 18th
Holy fuck, really!?
His mom's friends going to be nursing him...back to health
I saw the play on a scramble I pray that’s not the case
No!!!! My Breece Hall fantasy football dream just imploded if that's true.
may not be dead. who do you think they are feeding on checkdowns with a backup in?
If you draft before the first preseason game that’s on you bruh
Nah, we haven't drafted yet but every season there's a player I convince myself is going to be the steal of the league. I am never correct about this but Hall was my guy this year.
PUT THE FIRST STRING BACK IN GO WIN THIS THING
Edit: I knew I’d bait some people lol
Yea a preseason W isn’t worth possible injuries to the starters
This is something we’ve seen happen a lot in the regular season but preseason almost makes it seem worse
I hate that it's more ammo for Packer fans to give us shit.
I know it’s not the exact same, but that gave me Rodgers Hail Mary flashbacks.
1:30 left. Plenty of time to score a TD 👀
My parlay is so close to hitting. Wtf.
What’d you bet
Lions Browns Cardinals ML
Oof sorry to hear
Ahh It happens. No biggie. Thanks though man
Next time bro you got this
Tell me you didn’t watch a Lions game last year without telling me you didn’t watch a Lions game last year.
And btw I’m not attacking you at all but as fans we need to buy in and get behind this team. Players play different when the fans support.
Bro we need a identity. Only identity we’ve EVER had was fucking losers.
Football is a VIOLENT sport. You NEED toughness you NEED grit. And to change a culture takes time and we’ve seen It on the field. Our team is tough and they have grit. Come on are you a Lions fan or what?
ItS jUsT pReSeAsOn
Edit: you guys are dumb. You think the coaches and players are going into the locker room after the game shrugging their shoulders saying “welp, no big deal! Its just preseason guys!”
Of course I know the win or loss doesnt matter. Its about the play on the field. Doing dumb shit in critical moments is Lions MO, so wanting to see changes — even if its JUST PRESEASON — is kind of important.
Lions literally had a 4-0 preseason prior to going 0-16. Preseason means absolutely positively nothing.
It’s okay. You can cry all you want if we lose.
I only laugh these days.
It is tho
Doesnt mean you want your players looking like dummies.
Guy isn't even going to sniff the roster lmao
That guy is probably a practice squad dude lol
Throw in starters again I just want to see what happens
It’s just the preseason guys they’ll do good during the season *dies of blue koolaid overdose*
I don't think a preseason mistake by a 3rd stringer is an predictor for the regular season.
This is r/detroitlions we don’t do reasonable takes here silly
ALL OR NOTHING BABY!!! 23-0 INCLUDING PRESEASON OR THE SEASON IS A BUST
It's preseason dudes.
Love Barnhardt from his time at Ferris. He was the QB last year and just mossed some no-name DB who definitely isn't making the roster after that
Really get sick of all you losers watching our guys get out worked and outplayed and then just say “iTs pReSeAsON iT dOESnT mAtTeR.”
It fucking matters. The score doesn’t matter. The fact that they are out there making fools of themselves matters. Stop pretending it’s meaningless.
This! My God. This shit matters man. We start getting national media attention and we look dumb af making stupid ass mistakes
“tHeY aRe jUsT bAcKuPs!!!”
Yep. And they’re getting their shit kicked in by the Falcons backups.
It’s the fact that we want to see improvement and not the same ol shit no matter is on the field in Honolulu blue and silver
National media literally switched to a different game already lmao
Que up the “I wanna Die” meme photo? Lol
There’s still time
Jesus Christ why is it like this every game?
Oh honey you have no idea lol
What's funny is everyone freaking out on here. Like any of this makes a difference.
Yeah this shit is getting too emotional
Nice lead you have there….
Time to pull some Stafford shit
Hopefully this just means that we are getting the heartbreak games out of the way in the preseason this year lmao
Imagine we still win
I thought the 47.5 live under was easy money. 😭😭😭
Those lines are always so close
Lions r always going to be the lions. 35 years old. Hasn’t changed. Just heartbreaking, even in preseason.
Sir this is a Wendy’s
the Detroit Lions are my favorite team…
the Detroit Lions are my favorite team…
the Detroit Lions are my favorite team…
I need a drink.
I need to get the taste of that out of my mouth.
I need to wash that stench away.
"This is the preseason," he repeats to himself. "It's the preseason. It matters not. Just the preseason." \**veins pop*\* "Just the preseason."
Next Hard Knocks episode gonna go crazy 🤣🤣😭😭😭
Good thing we're getting this out of the way during the preseason. Campbell is about to have a stroke.
Oh no! This meaningless game!
That's not good film to put on tape for Boswell
Feel bad for Lucas, that dude came up big that drive. He's beating himself up for that drop right now though.
I had that feeling as soon as it was a drop and not a catch. I just knew it.
Yup... But Blough is about to bail him out.
Edit: or not...
If Blough saves this. I'll get a t-shirt with his number and name on it.
This shit bringing back nightmares
If you don’t like that then you dont like Detroit Lions football
Lions football baby. Nothing has changed!
Nice lead you got there
Fucking aye right.
Wow Ferris kid that’s pretty cool
Next couple episodes of Hard Knocks are going to be spicy
lmao people immediately start leaving
Oh no……. Anyway
Okay but that’s actually pretty funny
Can’t wait to see the secondary getting their shit wrecked next episode
Boswell is getting cut. We had the game won there.
