This is called Broomstick Lace. You crochet around something (like a broomstick, a thick knitting needle, or I guess a ruler) then twist a certain number of loops on the next round and crochet through them together the same number of times as you have loops.

Thank you for this link! I've always been intimated by this stitch, but it doesn't look difficult, just maybe time consuming. But, isn't that why we crochet? 🤷🏼♀️😂 Happy hooking! ☺️🧶🪝
Did a. Bedspread with that decades ago. Black over bright blue sheet. Watched a mini series while I did it. Turned out nice but if I tried it now I would go nuts counting stitches and such and DEF no tv, kids, dogs, etc.!!

Broomstick lace. I used a wooden doll. Super easy and works up fast.

As others have said, its broomstick lace crochet traditionally worked on a broom handle that had been polished, but any similarly sized tool can be used #mhhsbd
Aww. I have never seen broomstick lace done, but my 98 yr old grandma was a lifelong crocheter up until about 3 yrs ago. She cannot crochet anymore but still loves yarn. Our house is a stockpile. I can crochet and have made one afghan, but I don’t quite have the patience for it. Grandma always talks about how she got her start by doing broomstick lace, but then she stuck to regular dc afghans. My great-aunt, her sister, taught her how to do both. They both made dozens of blankets (grandma probably 100+), and my aunt probably a few hundred - counting baby blankets and lapghans. My aunt was amazing at it and could read and follow any pattern, no matter how complex. My grandma (and I) could not read patterns but her dc afghans had some variability in the rows.
My mom made some for the house when I was a baby and they are still in use on the couch, 30 something years later. Hold up great. Granted her color choices were... Inspired...
Agree with broomstick lace! I personally really enjoyed doing this stitch (or I guess it was a modified version) in knitting and haven’t actually crocheted it myself.
As others have said the newly dubbed tortellini stitch is broomstick lace.
I *love* the look of broomstick lace. It's not as difficult as it appears like it would be to do, as far as the mechanics of the stitch itself.
For me, I love it so much but hate doing it because I'm pretty clunky with my process, making it extremely time consuming. Lots of muttering to myself and cursing and struggling to find a good place to rest the the rod I'm looping onto. I then vow to never do broomstick lace again.... but forget within 6 months and wind up making another thing in it that I curse my way through and vow again never again lol.
Looks similar to broomstick lace to me
Definitely broomstick lace. You can also use a large knitting needle, or dowel. I have attempted it many times, but don’t have the patience.
I have seen broomstick lace done on many different objects
I use large gauge knitting needles myself.
I tend to use drumsticks, dowels, or larger knitting needles.
Idk but they look like small tortellini’s
Came here to say this. Motion to rename this stitch 'the tortellini stitch'. All in favour?

Broomstick lace is the beginner class I took when I leaned to crochet so definitely don't be intimidated.
It isn’t hard at all. Time consuming and yarn consuming though. It’s quite beautiful
Definitely broomstick lace. Or ruler lace in this case!
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I get the name now. Thank you!
You bet! It's a beautiful stitch and really so much easier than it appears.
I believe that’s called “Mom’s Spaghetti”
She's making that sweater already?
Palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy with all the yarn its going to take to make a sweater in this stich.
An Eminem and crochet reference?! I need more awards, this needs one ❤️
🤣 it just seemed to flow.
I love Eminem so here is your award.
Thank you for providing what I could not!
Thankful for one free award a day. They deserved it!
For whatever reason (I'm not that active on reddit anymore), I don't see/get them as often as I used to 🤷♀️
It's tortellini obvs
Broomstick lace. … or I guess ruler lace in this instance? :)
Lol broomstick lace. Perhaps ruler lace haha. Good job that stitch is super tedious.
Did a. Bedspread with that decades ago. Black over bright blue sheet. Watched a mini series while I did it. Turned out nice but if I tried it now I would go nuts counting stitches and such and DEF no tv, kids, dogs, etc.!!
But I remember it being easy to do...
That is wild. I was thinking, why is someone putting their pasta maker on a crochet subreddit?
I would fuck this up so badly.
You seem like my kind of people

That's tortellini.
It is broomstick but done with a ruler
I am in the internet too much.... I saw knitted Ramen in a bowl with broth on Facebook and thought this was actual spaghetti

Mamma mia
Buitoni stitch
Broomstick lace - also known as raw San loss.
Excuse me what are you doing bringing this forbidden pasta to this sub
i have no help to add but that stitch looks like little tortellini’s
Not sure but it does look like a bunch of tortellini
Broomstick lace.
Tortellini!
Cheese tortellini..due to the yarn color (:
Broomstick stitch. First stitch I ever learned. Works up insanely quickly but it is a yarn eater. One of my go to stitches for a quick blanket.
How does it hold up?
My mom made some for the house when I was a baby and they are still in use on the couch, 30 something years later. Hold up great. Granted her color choices were... Inspired...

broomstick lace.. you can do it along anything.. ruler is a new one i had a giant plastic knitting needle i use
Broomstick lace
This looks like a failed typewriter design.
I did a headband using gcotton thread and a pen... it looks beautiful
Broomstick lace stitch variant.
Peacock, Peacock eye, stitch. [Link](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JeK2NrbLrCY) to YouTube video
Idk but that is sooo pretty
Idk but can this really be crochet?
It definitely IS crochet. It's broomstick lace. Check some of the YouTube links others have provided here.
That's crazy. Crochet is so diverse
It really is --one of the many things I love about it. 😄
Broomstick Lace. I made one years ago. There is needle for this. I have one.
Broomstick lace!
Broomstick lace! Also often done over a size 50 knitting needle.
Definitely broomstick lace! It was the first stitch I ever learned when I was 8! Instead of a ruler I learned with a huge plastic knitting needle.
I thought the thumbnail was someones freshly baked buns.
looks like tortellini
It’s broomstick lace
I thought it was ravioli until I saw what subreddit it was!

Broomstick lace
I’ve actually never seen this stitch before so unfortunately I can’t really help
