Ki-Mono2030

Maybe we could get some new shows instead of constantly rebooting old shows? Especially shows that *just* ended. Reboots I always felt like were meant for shows that are really old and barely anyone remembers. That's at least how it used to be.

Katviar

YES! Exactly. I'm all or remakes/reboots when it's something real old. She-ra did this, for example. It took a very old series and revamped it decades later!. But FOP is something that's been on air continuously over the past two or three decades. With shows like TMNT and Scooby-doo, that do get new versions every few years, at least (most) of those are just building on comic storylines or building on the past shows ideas (like the refreshing differences between What's New Scooby Doo, A pup named Scooby Doo, and Scooby Doo and the 13 Ghosts; Or Rise of the TMNT versus 1987 TMNT)

Ki-Mono2030

I agree on TMNT and Scooby Doo. There are certain franchises where being continuously soft-rebooted is just part of what the franchise *is*. It's important to note that not many franchises do this or do them well. I dont think FoP is a good candidate for this type of formula considering just how long it ran for.

king_marquez15

Fr even someone who work on the fairy odd parents animation agreed https://twitter.com/fountaincartoon/status/1638850925405011969?s=46&t=yi27Hx-dxXyJwIPUEOfYVA

Ki-Mono2030

That's the thing! FoP ran and ran and ran until it ran itself into the ground. It doesn't seem like a good candidate for a reboot due to this! If a franchise ran until the well dried up, will an immediate reboot "save the franchise?" I don't think so. It's best to let the beast die like it wants to.

king_marquez15

Fr let this shit die already

dannyhogan200

I mean, Animaniacs and Duck Tales did well as reboots

Ki-Mono2030

Reboots *can* do well when created by people who care. Plus, this follows my previous statement about making reboots on old franchises that a lot of people don't even remember. Animaniacs aired from 1993 and ended in 1998. Duck Tales aired from 1987 to 1990. Fairly Odd Parents may have aired in 2001 but only ended in 2017. What also makes it different is that FoP ran until it crashed. It physically dried up its own well. I think creating a reboot at this point in time, or at all, seems like a poor financial decision. Only time will tell, though.

TvManiac5

That's the hell streaming services put as in. Nothing is allowed to just end anymore.

Ki-Mono2030

Idk if that's necessarily the fault of streaming services specifically, although they recently have been creating a lot of issues for themselves. I think it's more that companies know that nostalgia sells. It's *easier* to make and sell a show that technically already exists and has an avid fanbase. It's just a shame that we know they do it because it's easy and cheap. Not to make a good product or get people on the team who actually care about the material. It's just something to pump out for a quick buck.

TvManiac5

It definately is. The vast majority of revivals and reboots nowadays happen because streaming services want to take advantage of IPs that are already in the popular sphere of discussion to advertise themselves. And there are many examples. Peacock revived criminal minds only about a couple years after its finale. Disney+ basically did revivals of all their popular cartoons like phineas and ferb, the proud family, X men, etc. as well as many of their 2010s movies. Paramount is doing the same with nick properties. We live in a reality where Spongebob spin offs with the same comedic tone are airing alongside the main show. And the worst part is, because they operate with the same pace youtube does were relevancy dies quickly, they do it with IPs that end extremely recently. Back in the pre streaming days revivals and reboots still happened, but it's usually from shows that ended years ago, either because the network wanted to try and capitalize on their popularity, or because fans of the original got in the industry and wanted to put their own spin on it (see Ducktales 2017, Thundercats 2011) Nowadays it's just a race to keep people in a constant consumption rate with no end nor enough time to properly resonate with anything. And streaming makes this kind of IP exploitation exponentially easier. Don't get me wrong, it can lead to good things. For instance I think the Icarly revival is leagues better than the original and it isn't directed by a pedophile so it's easier to enjoy. But for every success like that, come like 5 noisy cash grabs that compromise the dignity of great stories.

LeonardMoney2020

*Another* Fairly OddParents reboot? We already got Fairly Odder.

king_marquez15

Yes

Common-Complaint2315

Also can I just say, I like that ur pfp is of Dokkan

8avian6

Ugh that show is so bad it's genuinely unwatchable

SayNo2Nazis999

I'm not finding anything about this on Google. Can anyone help with sources and stuff?

Polibiux

Apparently it was leaked on 4chan and was quickly removed due to copyright violations. But that’s not much to go off of

Zaptain_America

The fact that this came from 4chan, with the diversity of it should make it obvious that it's fake...

4Fourside

Pretty sure this is real actually. There's test footage and everything

ThatGuy86349

I’m honestly tired of Cartoon Remakes, just make new episodes to the old series, like what Phineas And Ferb did. I’m hoping other cartoons go that route, like Kim Possible, American Dragon Jake Long, Jackie Chan Adventures, Xoalin Showdown and many others

king_marquez15

Fr

Farted69times

They gotta leave this series alone I hope it won’t do the SpongeBob phase

regretfulposts

The show went on after channel chaser, and frankly it became worse than SpongeBob season rots. Like I don't mind Poof, the inclusion of Sparky and Cloe really showed how writers are losing a lot of steam. They also stop using older characters like AJ and Chester in the later seasons despite being important secondary characters. Also the later seasons had ignore some important rules like how Timmy's dad can see fairies and even be bullied by Vicky despite the main rule to the show is to never have the parents seeing fairies and a sadistic babysitter. At least SpongeBob has better animation and some really imaginative plots to keep it slightly fresh. Fairy Odd before being cancelled just became vinegar as the series progressed.

king_marquez15

It already did that this show went on for too long already

king_marquez15

It has a live action reboot show spin off

kurokitsune91

Xiaolin Showdown already did. It was Xiaolin Chronicles and it was not great.

ThatGuy86349

All I know is that Jack Spicer looks like he’s from that MLP teenager show

Brickinatorium

Tbf some of the things you listed literally have the characters names as the title. If they didn't return it wouldn't really be Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible, or American Dragon Jake Long. On the other hand the Fairly Odd Parents don't necessarily need Timmy. Honestly after how long Timmy was used on the show, I don't mind seeing a new kid as long as it's good. We already had years with him anyways.

Zaptain_America

Ain't no way this is real. Legit reads like it's just bait for the "anti woke" crowd...

Awestruck-Sigh

Especially since it was found on 4chan

4Fourside

Looks to be real though

4Fourside

There's test footage. Seems to be real

Stellartraveler11

Honestly I think it could be good if they actually stuck to what was established at the start of the original series. A Godchild has to be miserable to get their Fairy Godparents and not just for a few days but for a while. Have it be that Hazel is still relatively new in town but didn't just move in. Have her brother go to college right before she starts at her new school so she can't just go to him for comfort. Have her be bullied because of being short and have her parents be super busy with their studies, which is likely why they moved, so she has a babysitter that just doesn't care. This would be a great set up for Hazel to actually need Godparents and it would be similar, but not exactly the same, to why Timmy needed fairies in the first place. Also don't have one of Hazel's friends be the coolest kid in school as that just down plays Hazel struggling to be respected at school. Also have Poof become her Fairy Godparent. Wanda and Cosmo where what Timmy needed because he needed some good adults in his life while with this story Hazel needs a big brother figure which Poof could provide. Hazel is his first actual Godchild so it would be a new experience for both of them. They could even have Poof call Wanda and Cosmo for advice every once in a while. If the rich kid is going to get a Fairy have it be a new character like Jorgan and the Tooth Fairy's kid or just a entirely new Fairy. This stuff definitely isn't going to happen but a girl can dream.

king_marquez15

This sounds better

Stellartraveler11

Thanks! I just read through all the pictures and like seriously what are they thinking with half these ideas especially the ASMR kid? Why is that necessary and is so important to be included in what I'm assuming is a pitch book/Bible? Just let the show rest or at the very least stay consistent with what has been established. Also is it gonna be super techy or just slightly better Dimmesdale since it's been 10,000 years but the characters still dress in like fashion you'd find when Timmy was alive? Barely anything makes sense.

king_marquez15

LittleJoLion

I’m just glad we have it written that Timmy’s parents checked out. I don’t think I ever remember it being acknowledged growing up, it was just the underlying joke that his parents didn’t really care. “*how* *old* *are* *you* *again*”

itsnotbritneybitch

Is there even an artist render of Peri, Dev, and Dale? I like the concept: a canon timeline with Timmy aging out of the “Fairy Program”, Hazel being a literal opposite to Timmy, a fairy family kinda torn because Cosmo and Wanda have to contend with their son helping the bad guy. It just seems so … unnecessary. Like how fans reacted to anything after “Channel Chaser”.

metalflygon08

The 10K years seems a bit much though. If they want to reuse Cosmo and Wanda have the show take place somewhere between Timmy gorwing out of his fairies (roughly 16-18 years old IIRC from Channel Chasers) and his kids getting assigned Cosmo and Wanda (they look 10-12ish). There's a rough 5-10 year gap Cosmo and Wanda could be working with Hazel before she doesn't need them and then Timmy's kids show up in need.

cky5019

Everyone here laments the prevalence of reboots but never actually watches new IP when it’s released. Networks only care about what gets the most viewership, you vote with your eyeballs

Ancient_Talk9935

Lol. Now suddenly capitalism is a bad thing, because it's producing something you don't like.

king_marquez15

What’s are talking about 💀

Pm_wholesome_nude

>messing with history are they going to destroy all evidence of the show existing before this incarnation? the old episodes are still there, go watch those. this is a weird take, like if they are going to make a show about sad kids getting a green and pink haired fairy that grants wishes but within a specified rule set, why not tie it into the show they own thats about sad kids getting a green and pink haired fairy that grants wishes but within a specified rule set?

MediocreJedi32

Why can't they create new characters. They're doing it with everything. Use new ideas don't go back and change what's already been made.

Pm_wholesome_nude

they are creating a new character. this is literally a new character. also its not changing whats been made cuz whats been made already exist and therefore cannot be change.

MediocreJedi32

I'm sure you understand what I'm stating. You just refuse to look at the way it truly is. You have your own perception, so I'll just agree to disagree with your statement

Another reboot??? Everywhere I go, a reboot’s always being announced. I loved Fairly OddParents back then (not counting its final season; hot take, I liked the seasons before that), but honestly, it should be put to rest. Not all reboots are bad, but at this point, I’m getting tired of them.

TrecherousBeast01

From what I'm reading, I actually really like this concept. I still don't really like the characterization that Timmy's wishes were PURELY for his own gain, but beyond that, I like the notion that with how different things are nowadays that it might affect the type of wishes a child makes. I like the idea of a more "character driven" show.

king_marquez15

QuothTheRaven713

Considering he was descended from that Aldan Bitterroot witch guy I could see Crocker's ancestry plus his past involvement with magic essentially making him immortal. Heck, the "Timmy's Secret Wish" special had him looking the exact same at 103, he might be *canonically* immortal at this point.

AleksasKoval

Obviously i didn't read the whole thing, but it *looks* fun. I'm mainly hooked on the name "Dimmadelphia"

Katviar

Timmy hasn't been their kid in awhile -- Have you not seen that stupid ass live-action show they did? It's his kids who have the godparents...

grandfamine

Mostly in the last... how many seasons? Honestly the series would be otherwise dead, and sure, that might be acceptable, but I also don't necessarily mind them playing around with new ideas? Worst case scenario is it's bad and I won't watch it.

king_marquez15

This is a time skip .. unfortunately

Farted69times

Eh, though it was arledy a dead franchise but Fairy Odd Parents was never the best show, the first few seasons were ok, the rest was just a gradual trainwrek, if this serie does a good character development like it says it would it could be a cute show, not a fan of the asmr kid and the concept art style.

silverwolf2222

Hopfully its good if it aint welp what can you do? Please dont be as bad as Velma

king_marquez15

king_marquez15

? I’m not racist 🤦🏾‍♂️ the Velma show is bad this show looks bad

Jumanji-Joestar

Has this show come out yet? Any trailers? You can’t really claim it’s bad just based of some concept art. At least with Velma, we could tell it would be bad with that one cringy trailer

king_marquez15

Reading terrible description made me not want to watch the show

Jumanji-Joestar

Fair enough, that just means it’s not for you.

Jeidd234

Guessing it’s either a troll or maybe just early concepts. But we all know it’s a reboot of the show so it can fall in the category of the W word.

Katviar

I definitely agree the Velma show is bad. There's a way to remake and diversify a show without doing it like Velma did, which was honestly the weirdest thing ever. It was like trying to be both far-left AND far-right at the same time. Compared to say, a show like She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, that actually diversified and branched off from the OG in a great way (tho tbf old She-ra was a really bland cartoon that was just a toy promotion). I don't think this show will be bad, I think we should at least watch before judging (I thought Velma was gonna be good! And then I watched episode one and couldn't even finish it -- That could happen here, but I'd rather watch it and judge before assuming based on pre-production plans). I mean it can't be any worse than Fairly Odder. I wish they wouldn't remake it at all tbh, but if they're going to do a remake it's cool to at least go opposite of Timmy. Like I don't want another Timmy, only Timmy can be Timmy, so if it's not Timmy, it feels like going as different from Timmy is the best scenario? THO tbh just don't remake it period. Like let FOP die already, the quality of the show dropped off hard in later seasons and Fairly Odder is just weird and dumb (tho I will say that the chick playing Vicky is a great actress, but the whole plot was weird and cringe). Just make new shows, stop remaking things and beating a dead horse, yknow?

king_marquez15

Accusing my black a$$ of being racist because the choice the studio makes stupid

Katviar

Internalized racism exists. Sincerely, a queer demiwoman who grew up with internalized homophobia and misogyny when I was a teenager, before I matured. What exactly is the 'problems' with the characters? We both agree in the comment section that they should just leave the show alone and that remakes are overdone in general. But I just think remakes are overdone because I want to see new media and new content; I feel like it's not like they took Timmy and changed his character, they just made a new character, which is better than revamping Timmy entirely. (Plus because of the movies and fairly odder, it wouldn't make sense to be new episodes with Timmy because he grew up and had kids). But a lot of the people in the comments, even if it's not you feeling this way, are clearly complaining because things are 'too woke' now, which is just thinly veiled bigotry. "Oh no, a female black character. Oh no, a nonbinary character." etc. So even if not your intention or thoughts, it's giving platform to bigots in the comments who are only mad about the diversity in the show, and not the fact there's a pointless remake/reboot/etc.

king_marquez15

The mc doesn’t need fairies - I find asmr to be cringe - Cosmo is just wiser ewww- and she won’t make goofy wish for herself

Silent_Start_7036

Samooshi17

"Ah dam our reboot kinda floped (I think?). What should we do n-" "AIGHT LETS TRY AGAIN"

king_marquez15

Lol

CrazyaboutSpongebob

This doesn't feel like FOP 1) Hazel doesn't seem miserable enough to have fairy Godparents 2) They got rid of all the characters except for Cosmo, Wanda, Poof and Jorgen. 3) I know Cosmo and Wanda had other Godkids but I think fans will miss Timmy. It's like doing a Rugrats reboot and getting rid of Tommy. 4) The story arc sounds lame. When American cartoons with the exception of Kid Cosmic have story arcs they always take forever to get to the point. I wish more stuff happened faster. You need to wait 20 episodes for anything to happen. Also it just says that they are going to take over fairy world but doesn't explain how. It has happened dozens of times in the original.

SayNo2Nazis999

I think your first point is the main problem I have with it: miserable. The whole point was that Timmy had a lousy life and he needed Cosmo and Wanda to help him through it. Other than being a bit short, Hazel's story seems relatively positive. She even has a supportive big brother, so I doubt Hazel will have an abusive babysitter to deal with. Idk if Crocker is still a teacher (I didn't read all the images), but I'm struggling to see conflict.

CrazyaboutSpongebob

This feels like Chloe was in charge of the reboot. LOL She would do this.

My thoughts 1. The original show went on for too long, bringing it back seems unnecessary 2. BUT, they are taking the show in a different direction. It's focused on a different main character, which means Timmy grew up (FINALLY HE'S BEEN 10 FOR LIKE 50 YEARS) 3. It's in a different style and it is serialized 4. It's in a different style

Sonic_Shredder

Garbage.

Brief-Outcome-2371

Why isn't there a consistent art style? Also another reboot is ridiculous. FOP is nowhere near as popular as Spider-Man or Batman to warrant soo many reboots.

ErichScheidle

No offence, but Hazel sounds like every other modern female protagonist. Way to perfect. Actually, from the description, she sounds very similar to Chloe.

king_marquez15

She just Chloe 2.0

DrDragonsss

I didn't even know they were making a new one. I think it looks cool! And if you font like it you can always go back and watch the original. No show will ever be liked by absolutely everyone, and that's fine.

grandfamine

What about this information translates as "bad" to you?

king_marquez15

She’s basically Chloe 2.0 she has 0 reason to get the fairies- her wishes will be boring

Katviar

Eh, they say her reason for fairy's is because her family moves and she's lost all her friends and connections and is starting over. That makes sense to suddenly get fairies. Honestly, some of the other kids in the OG show didn't deserve fairies and others really did (like the trailer park friend omg why didn't that poor guy have a fairy? yeah his dad loved him but everyone was mean to them and they lived in a really rundown place and struggled with food...)

king_marquez15

The trailer park kid had a terrible life hence y Timmy gave his fairies to them…. compare Timmy life to her - Timmy was bullied, had Vicky, and parents was dumb

Katviar

I know but why didn't no fairies get assigned to him TT\_\_\_TT dude needed them and didn't get no help except from Timmy and Wanda and Cosmo.

king_marquez15

Cheaster should have gotten fairies … but that would be too much work for the animators

sakurablitz

i think it was because despite it all, chester was happy unlike timmy and remy buxaplenty

Katviar

Y'know what, that makes a lot of sense. He did tend to keep his head up about everything no matter what.

xesaie

I suspect it's like whatshername in the Hunger Games movie adaption.

Katviar

Rue? Who is literally from the district of agriculture which is coded to be the district of black slaves... People love to get up in arms over non-white characters. Almost as if they get mad they aren't being represented... Shucks, no one has ever had to deal with underrepresentation before.

xesaie

A softer version is "Hell hath no fury like a headcanon denied", but yeah that's what I was getting at.

Katviar

Very true. It was wild to see people get upset over Rue when it came out. Like she's clearly coded as black in the books. She's described as having dark skin and dark eyes (as is Thresh). It felt like everyone clung to the 'reminds me of Prim' thing as 'she must be blond and blue-eyed like Prim' when it was clearly more about their size, stature, demeanor, personality, and some aspects like their facial features (big, innocent eyes, etc).

aSaltyQueen

Not the biggest fan of the art style tbh but so happy there’s a non-binary character!!

Katviar

same!

TvManiac5

king_marquez15

Fr

MetalUkulele

It looks okay. I think more diversity is fine as long as they don't make too big of a deal out of it. Having a non-binary main character will be pretty good for representation. But the thing I'm mostly worried about is that the characters don't seem to have enough flaws. All the words in these character descriptions seem too positive so the reboot looks boring.

Its_D_youtube

Am I the only one who finds it more insulting than "inclusive" when they just change a character or a characters race in an already popular series just to add diversity? I'm all for including people of color and such but like... You really couldn't think of an original show to include them? You needed to lazily change the color of a character and say "look we are diverse now" when it would be so much better and so much loved if you created an original diverse character and added them or gave the their own show! Look at this, Velma, the little mermaid remake (like you couldnt make an original movie you need to remake a beloved story and just change everyone's race!?) I dunno. I'd like to restate I'm fine with all races and inclusion but it feels lazy and insulting to just change race.

king_marquez15

novakane27

i love that race is the first descriptor in each character. id like to say, the "reboot" they had in sitcom style was awful, didnt watch. and this, too, seems like they miss the point of the original show entirely. timmy did not have "unlimited wishes." he had an overactive imagination and parents who were never around. cosmo and wanda are the parents he wanted. "doom and gloom up in his room." such a beautifully insightful cartoon that will never be replicated today because people only seem to latch onto the outer ideas of cartoons and constantly package them for kids. if your parents watched that show with you, then it was supposed to also make them think about their decisions as parents. it was a deep show that ran too long and lost its heart because of Nickelodeon wanting to be like Disney and just merchandise things and sell them instead of pushing the art. edit: ive read a bit more of this post and i can see some things like what i said being part of the story. but if you want to do this, get new fairy godparents too. thats a big part of what i was saying. Cosmo and Wanda are TIMMYS IMAGINATION, they should not be part of Hazels imagination. i understand the cartoon built a world into the Fairies and made it as though they are real in the cartoon, but that was never the starting premise. But they know they cant get rid of cosmo and wanda because who would care? you know who? new kids! new experience! new idea! new show!

king_marquez15

CrazyaboutSpongebob

I don't understand why they don't just make a sequel series in the Channel Chasers time line. Fans seem to like that episode.

king_marquez15

Because that will be something og fans would watch they want to pander to younger audiences … company’s would rather reboot old ip instead something good

CrazyaboutSpongebob

They can still pander to younger audiences while doing that. I don't recall kids demanding all these changes. They can have Tammy and Tommy have Cosmo and Wanda. The twins can go on random adventures every week. Sometimes we can see older characters cameo and find out about their whereabouts. Example: Chloe could be mayor of Dimsdale, Trixie Tang could run her parents business, AJ becomes Steve Jobs, etc.

Woke = I see people who don't look like the cishet white able-bodied people we've had on television for the past century

Crazy-toons

I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to be this harsh. You know I’m not crazy about modern medias and reboots showing their social agendas.

Zaptain_America

Did you know minorities exist in real life? They weren't just made up by the Liberal media, and they don't just exist to push an agenda. Grow up.

Crazy-toons

Sorry about that!

Best-Faithlessness-5

What’s the problem with this? Looks pretty good to me😊

king_marquez15

Glad ur enjoying it it just looks soooo bad

Best-Faithlessness-5

Again, why?

Honestly I don’t see anything wrong with this. Its good that they fixed the problems with the old fairly odd parents, mainly being that after a while all the characters just kind of lost their individuality and became the same loud, obnoxious, and quirky character similar to what happened to SpongeBob or more recently teen titans go. The only critique I could think of is that the new protagonist doesn’t seem doesn’t seem like she has a bad enough life to qualify for fairly odd parents since the only problems she has is being short and lonely.

king_marquez15

Mc feels like more of a Chloe 2.0

JordanT_0

honestly i just finished reading it and it doesn't sound that bad!!! I like that theyre taking the concept and doing something new with it! I just hope the writing team does the concept justice

LeaveMeAloneLorenzo

I genuinely think this show sounds amazing. Some serialization and actual character development? Sign me up.

kringgie

Hey, I was the shortest in class and my name is Anthony so I can relate to this show. Won't care if they still have cosmo and wanda but they are already off the deep end cuz didn't they have 2 kids now ? Poof isn't an only child anymore please correct if not

king_marquez15

This is time skip Timmy is an adult - poof has also grown up

Panikkrazy

I know a lot of people have already mentioned that this sho needs to die, but is just me or does that girl’s picture look like….REALLY racist?

Komosho

Man honestly reading through the bible this looks like it could be pretty sweet, especially compared too the previous reboot. I imagine it'll skew younger but the new designs look cute and they def seem like they're putting an effort in to make Hazel different from Timmy without being a Chloe situation where she's too perfect. Plus having the cast be a bit more evenly balanced can lead to different feeling stories. The last paragraph does an honestly good job explaining why doing more is reasonable: it's a fun setting and there's a lot of you can play with.

I’m tell u why this is getting hate The new mc is just a Chloe 2.0 They should have gotten her new fairies Unesscery reboot of a show that was dragging out for years Cosmo is more wiser and Wanda will be cautious with her wishes the wishes will be boring She don’t deserve the fairies when she isn’t even miserable kid She’s maybe 🤔 miserable but ….. she befriends the popular kid If u like this show it’s fine but stop throwing around the word racism or “ppl are hating 4 no reason” cuz it’s stupid 🤦🏾‍♂️

Get a life my bro

TheLoyalPotato

It’s clear as day that the inclusion of other races as major characters is just for political correctness instead of actually building the new world. All of these characters look like the creators just picked names, races, genders, and body styles out of a hat.

cocoforcocopuffsyo

**weird nerds:** "race swapping is woke and political, they should make new and original characters" Ok, creates new and original characters **weird nerds:** "creating new and original characters is woke and political! " ???
