I can relate so much with the water part... i am always thinking omg what if it went into the bottle and it dissolved, so immediately after taking it i always look into the bottle in case it fell in it 😂
My pill has a little sticker with the weekdays to put on the upper part of the "pill card" (idk what to call it, english is not my first language but the paper-card where the pills are). When I take my first pill I glue this sticker with the weekdays on the upper part of the card according to the weekday. So when idk if I took the pill already or not I just see what day of the week I am, and if I took the pill under that weekday.
**If your pill doesn't come with the sticker you could download one of those cycle apps** and put your cycle with the number of pills you take before your break and then just sign in the app that you took it. Some apps have specifically the pill option and you can see in the calendar if you took the pill or not in x day. You just have to remember to open the app the check that you took the pill just as you swallowed it.
**There are also especialized apps for pill takers** that remind you to take it and you must confirm you just took it, and you can use that later to check if you indeed already took the pill that day.
ETA the one I used before was called Calendario Menstrual (or mentrual/period calendar for English speakers) it is available at the Play Store but idk about iOS.
My pill pack has the days of the week so if it is open, it means that I took it but this stickers idea is amazing! I didn't know about this.
I use a app too, I'm just paranoid!
Then you're good! Try not to stress too much
But I used to be paranoid like that too when I first started lmao. nowadays I guess I just got used to it.
So true!! I check the bottle after to see if it's not there! I mental check the pill on my tongue and then I get worried after I swallow it. I feel so desperate but I laugh so much after. I really feel like I am going nuts
Everyone has been telling me to check for ocd as I do stuff because my brain is like "do that or your going to have a bad day" or I keep counting the steps in specific walks and it drives me nuts but I can't avoid it!
You’re not alone! Lol Sometimes after I take it I think, “well what if it actually fell into the water bottle?” Because it’s so small I can’t feel it go down my throat, I constantly think it didn’t make it down.
Haha, I was the same when I just started the pill, was so paranoid about somehow not taking it. I literally kept making mental notes like "It's 10am, I have my pill, I have it in my mouth, I can feel it in my mouth, I took it etc."
Now that I think back I feel stupid for doing so, but hey, whatever makes you less anxious. :D
Same here! Once I took the pill and when I swallow it with water I doubt myself if the pill went down my throat with the water as I can't feel the pill in my mouth when the water went in. LOL.
Therefore everytime I put the water in my mouth, I will search for the pill thats its alr in my mouth and swallow it with concentration.
Alot of other scenarios scares me as well.
I do this with my daily meds lol. I have to read the letters or numbers or logo printed on the pill outloud to myself before taking it. Then check for it in my mouth before and after I swallow it. All while making mental notes that will (hopfully) help me remember that I took it. Idk what makes me feel crazier.. forgetting if I took it or the ways I try to make myself remember taking it! I've even dumped out about 2 weeks worth from the bottle and counted them to see if there was enough left for the month.. ugh
Same!! I usually take it in front of a mirror so I can see it physically on my tongue. Then I put the packet in a certain position in my medicine cabinet so I know that when it’s facing a certain way, I‘ve taken it! Not crazy I swear Lmaoo
There’s an app called Round Health that I use as a reminder to take medicine. It’s free and you literally check it off and it says “all taken” with a big check mark. I don’t take bc pills anymore but I’m on heart medicine. I would constantly freak out if not for this app!
When I took BC, I used an app to track whether I took it. The alarm on the app went off a minute before I needed to so I could stop whatever I was doing and go grab the pill. The second I swallowed it, I’d tap the app and it would mark it as taken. This way I had visible proof I did.
I do the same thing sometimes. Have to check the blister pack and make sure I took it. I just had a baby in February, so another pregnancy is the last thing I need!
I was lazy about reading responses so I’m case no one suggested yet, you could film yourself on your phone when you swallow it and have some visual proof to refer to with the exact time you took it on there! Which will make sure your taking it at the proper time too.
you’re not crazy! i totally do this too! every single time I take my pill, I look into my water bottle to make sure its not in there and I also check my surroundings to see if it fell on the floor 🤦♀️
I broke down in tears with my GP years ago about this.
We opted to try the shot temporarily. I had a few things going on at the time. I legit said “if I were to get accidentally pregnant now I would drive myself off the escarpment”
I am now on my second IUD.
You are not alone.
I love my IUD. I would probably still want to drive off a cliff if I got pregnant, but not it’s not as anxiety-inducing from forgetting if I took my pill or not. It’s just an I-don’t-want-kids thing.
I used to take it with a glass with only 1 sip of water. So it can't go anywhere but in me. When I took it, i drew a cross on my calendar. This helped me a lot.
I feel this with all my medicines. It really helped to get a weekly pill separator bc then I could see if I took it that day. And then refill the pills the same day each week with a reminder on my phone.
I do this too! I have to feel it in my mouth before swallowing. I also use an app My Pill that tracks the time you take each one, and sets a reminder. In addition, having an extra pack just in case always makes me feel better. Taking a picture of your pack after taking it (and seeing the empty pouch) might also be helpful. You’re not alone!
Me too - and I have on MORE than one occasion, which isn’t great and made me realized I needed to ~relax~
The stats make me feel better. I think the efficacy rate is how many women would get pregnant if they had sex every day for a year. I do NOT do that LMAO! also in the worst case I feel a bit better knowing it wouldn’t be un-fixable, if that makes sense.
Also - tell your partner!! It sucks that men can’t really share any of the responsibilities so I tell my BF any time I’m nervous or if I’ve been taking antibiotics etc. so that it doesn’t feel like all the responsibility is on me (even tho it mostly still is RIP)
I have anxiety too, and while i’m on the mini-pill, what I do is after I take it (and have truly felt it go down my throat and everything) I color in a little square on a sheet I have next to my pills. So that way I have a physical reminder. I think it’s the only thing that’s stopped me from totally losing it.
When I was on the pill for like 13 yrs, they give you little plastic packs that have individual pills you pop out, and it's formatted like a monthly calendar. That way if you're worried if you took it, you can just look, and if the Fri pill isn't there you know you took it.
I can relate so much with the water part... i am always thinking omg what if it went into the bottle and it dissolved, so immediately after taking it i always look into the bottle in case it fell in it 😂
Omg me!!! I only use clear bottles now because of that!
I put water in my mouth before popping a pill in lol!

I only became this paranoid after a toxic ex traumatized me and now that I'm being active with my bf
I am sorry you went through that. Just give it a little time for yourself to fully heal and get used to it then! Best of luck! ❤
Thank you! 😊❤️

That's why I get paranoid! It's so small you don't feel it

I've been taking it for years but now that I'm more active and had a trauma with an ex a year and some months ago, I feel paranoid with this! 🤦🏻♀️😂

That's so me!! It happens the same to me
Ah i do this for vitamins! Definitely getting an app for the pill when i get it lol!
Yes!! It helps so much! It even helps remind you when you took the last pill so you can start it on time always

I think everybody here understands you! I though I was alone 😂
I do the same!! I open my mouth before I drink the water just to be sure it’s still in my mouth 😂
There’s an app called Round Health that I use as a reminder to take medicine. It’s free and you literally check it off and it says “all taken” with a big check mark. I don’t take bc pills anymore but I’m on heart medicine. I would constantly freak out if not for this app!

This made me laugh more than it should have. Cause same 🤣

Congrats!!! And so true 😂

Thank you so much!! Great advice actually
Honestly, you should take a video of yourself taking it every day to look back on if you get nervous!! Not a long term fix but it could help!
Thank you!
you’re not crazy! i totally do this too! every single time I take my pill, I look into my water bottle to make sure its not in there and I also check my surroundings to see if it fell on the floor 🤦♀️
That's so me, for real!
I broke down in tears with my GP years ago about this. We opted to try the shot temporarily. I had a few things going on at the time. I legit said “if I were to get accidentally pregnant now I would drive myself off the escarpment” I am now on my second IUD. You are not alone.

I do that sometimes actually
We girls are all so paranoia :p
Seriously, me too. That's why I went for the implant.
This is me but with my antidepressants lol :(( Also have you tried looking into IUDs?
I can't get one right now so maybe in the future 😁
I had the "fuck, did I forget the pill?" panic every so often for MONTHS (or even years) after stopping it, lol.
Omg I'm terrified of missing a pill 😂
I feel this with all my medicines. It really helped to get a weekly pill separator bc then I could see if I took it that day. And then refill the pills the same day each week with a reminder on my phone.

This makes me thankful for blister packs. They just give them to you in a bottle? Wtf?
Wait what?

Ohhh that's what I have! The days of the week are written on the thing were you take the pill out so if it's open, I took it
