Good. Would rather get the moves over with and somewhat set the market than sit around for a couple months of rumors just to finally sign someone. I’ve done that too much the past 4 offseasons
Depends. He was solid enough in high leverage situations for us, but also could crumble from time to time. You guys have Alvarado too so you should be fine since you have two lefties you can use.
To be fair, losing your players combined with the Red Sox striking out on multiple of their top list FA would give that feeling.
And I'm not being a dick. I'm legitimately questioning the front office strategy taking this many "L's".
We signed Chris Martin, who was better than Strahm last season, to a very similar deal. We also signed Joely Rodriguez, who’s [baseball savant page](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/joely-rodriguez-570257?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb) looks really good.
There are A LOT of FA left, and us missing on Heaney and Efflin isn’t the end of the world.
I haven’t watched much of him, admittedly, but can you elaborate on that? His platoon splits last season were actually better against righties (.625 OPS) than lefties (.645 OPS). There could be something I’m missing that the numbers just don’t show.
Keep that baseball savant page close with Joely.
Add in that you missed on Haniger, too. And Kahnle. That is to say nothing about possibly losing X and pinching pennies with Devers. Looking to save your argument with Chris Martin and Joely is certainly a choice--there's A LOT of copium here from a comment that, while accurate, was not meant nearly as seriously as you're forcing it to be.
Lots of FA left or not, my comment stands.
> Looking to save your argument with Chris Martin and Joely is certainly a choice
Your whole argument is around Heaney, Eflin, Haniger and Kahle. Those four guys combined for a total of 3.2 WAR last season, and will get paid a combined $42.5M next season. How is anything that you’re doing, different than me?
Phillies speed running their off-season during the winter meetings.

Middleton got one taste of winning and said fuck this, did a line of crack, and turned Dombrowski into AJ Preller
> line of crack Now that would be something
Yeah it would fucking hurt and accomplish nothing... Dombrowski rich enough to afford that disco shit
One drugs, please.
Are we sure John Middleton isn’t Steinbrenner’s real son?
Yankees fans: “So that’s George’s real son!”
Prellers more known for his trades rather than free agent signings tbf
fwiw crack is smoked, not inhaled
you’ll cowards don’t even smoke crack, obviously
Now that's a memory that took a solid 30 seconds to dust off. Simpler times, those were.
How do you smoke and not inhale?
Ask Bill Clinton
Maybe you’re thinking about crystal
Damn, the Phillies are getting it
I absolutely hate it
Money is just, like, a concept maaaan
Better to spend it on something now rather than later, what with inflation and all that.
Strahm is a solid lefty pick up even if he could be a bit inconsistent for us last year. He throws strikes though which is really nice.
That’s all we want. Does he throw strikes? COME ON DOWN
Can he pitch in high leverage situations or he just a lefty arm from the pen when you up 4?
Depends. He was solid enough in high leverage situations for us, but also could crumble from time to time. You guys have Alvarado too so you should be fine since you have two lefties you can use.
I was hoping we’d get Chafin? Do you think he can be as good?
Music to my ears
What, exactly, do the Red Sox expect to have going into next season at this point?
TIL there are no more FA left.

Do yourself a favor and ignore Joely’s Baseball savant page, he fucking sucks against righties and there are a lot of them

I don’t know about the splits, but Joely never looked very good despite stellar peripherals.

The phillies are trying to make that a reality.
In dombrowski we trust
He and Howie Roseman have secret GM dinners don’t they?
Damn save some for all of us
Your allowed to sign relievers? Who knew
I thought free agency was *only* for signing relievers?
You'd think that but no
You're yes
Phillies and Rangers just out here scorching the place
