[Rome] Carlos Correa crossed the six-win threshold yesterday, according to Baseball References's WAR metrics. Correa is worth 6.1 bWAR. Among position players, only Marcus Semien — a fellow free agent to be — is worth more at 6.4.

Their both going to get paid. Semien probably less since he’s slightly older
Semien is still looking at atleast $100M. Probably closer to $120M+
Dude bet on himself and is going to get absolutely paid.
Good for him. I love whenever that ends up working out for players. It will be interesting to see if the Blue Jays pay him. They have two big decisions with him and Ray being free agents. I don’t know how much their willing to spend, but that’s huge for them if they bring back both of them and pick up a good bullpen piece
It sounds like Semien wants to play short
Bring him and ray to Houston. Yes please
I don't want anyone to tell me people don't just downvote Astros flair ever again after this. Wtf are y'all doing? The dude just wants those guys on his favorite team.
This sub is still bad about that. It’s pretty funny though
I wonder how him and George get along..... hmmm
Never heard of him
Here comes the money
Although our fan base leans Correa as a free agent shortstop, which we need, I've always preferred Semien. I wanted us to snatch him up at 5/125 or something. Vs. Correa wanting 10/300+.
But now Semien's gone and overachieved.
Correa is gonna be an interesting case for FA. His status among fanbases means he's *probably* not going to LAD or NYY which are two huge potential offers totally off the table. Also his production when healthy is as good as it gets... but the issue is he's got a spotty health record coming into this season... I have no idea what he'll get compared to the other big name FAs... he's probably the best of any on a rate basis but there's so many complications I don't think I'll be surprised at whatever contract he gets.
Dodgers have two premium shortstops already anyway
Seager is a free agent after this season
Gavin Lux /s
It's likely the Dodgers wouldn't have been big bidders on Correa anyway. I think the Dodgers will test the water with Seager, but besides that I think they will sit out the SS frenzy this offseason.
Yankee fans had no problem rooting for cole
Cole wasn’t on the 2017 squad and he’s also a pitcher so would be an observer at most of the scandal anyway. Right or wrong, none of the pitchers have or will carry the same stigma that the position players do.
> Cole wasn’t on the 2017 squad
Oh ya huh lol. Whoops
Also, didn't Cole sign before the scandal broke?
i don't think so. it broke like the week after the season ended.
I think people need to stop thinking that the cheating will have any impact on where the Astros players sign and who’s willing to sign them. Teams do not really care about that and will sign Carlos cause he’s a good player. Carlos is gonna sign wherever he gets offered the most money and if that’s the Yankees or Dodgers then he’ll sign there.
> Carlos is gonna sign wherever he gets offered the most money
I think the Yankees probably won't be that team. Obviously every team will test the waters and do it if it makes sense, I just don't think that the Dodgers or Yankees will be the biggest bidders on players that they know the fanbase hates.
I definitely see the Yankees more likely than the Dodgers but in the end I think it’ll be someone like the Tigers. They got money to spend, he can reconnect with Aj and be the key piece of that young team. Just makes too much sense imo
Yeah, a rebuilding team like the Tigers seems like the most likely option.
Correa as a Yankee is still revolting to me, but it would be funny to have the most hateable and douchiest player in the league on the Yankees. It’s been too long since we’ve had a true heel.
ARod was on the Yankees less than a decade ago
>it would be funny to have the most hateable and douchiest player in the league on the Yankees.

Forgot that Semien only has a 1 year deal
fWAR says otherwise
