r/baseball was so concerned about the old guys breaking down when true Mets fans know all the young guys are gonna get hurt this season while the 35+ yr olds play a full season
Yeah for injuries but the signings/Correa was what makes it uniquely weird. Even for the Mets standards.
Edit: Giants fans had a confusing off-season as well.
Speak for yourself. I don't subscribe to the self-loathing crap. The late great Tug Mcgraw created our motto "Ya gotta believe". So that's what I'm going to do. Because that's what being a Mets fan is. This whole "woe is me" crap is a recent phenomena to farm sympathy points with other fanbases. I say fuck that.
Better news than the initial report of it being a knee injury at least.
Knee, you're worried about ligaments. Ankle could hopefully be some low-grade sprain that doesn't keep him out long
For a group of people pushing a "the WBC is good for baseball" narrative (which I agree with), there sure were a lot of people in the other Nimmo thread seemingly rooting hard for a baseball player to have a serious injury just to have an "I told you so" moment.
This is what I tried to tell all the casuals. It doesn’t matter if it’s the WBC or Spring Training, you can still get injured. Should we cancel Spring Training now??
Oooo yes, pile on the downvotes! Doesn’t change the many ridiculous complaints I’ve seen from the anti-WBC crowd lol
It’s actually really unfortunate that this happened and I like Nimmo a lot, but this event simply proves to the “cancel WBC” crowd that injuries can happen anywhere.
Who fucking said players can’t get injured in spring training? Nobody. That’s why some sit out of the WBC, it’s more intense and they want to mitigate injury risk. Who the fuck honestly doesn’t understand that concept? It should be easy.

Yoenis is still a free agent.
What's the wild boar situation in New York City?
Rampant
This has got to be one of the strangest off-season ever for a franchise.
This is the Mets, strange is in their vocabulary
Honestly, this is a pretty typical off-season for the Mets.

All we know is pain.
The perks of being a Mets fan

True. Just think of all the world series trophies you guys have won since the fall of the berlin wall and the invention of email.
Right ankle soreness doesn't sound too scary, hopefully he's ready for opening day.
Breaking: Nimmo has failed his physical, and is now in contract talks with the Twins
wait a minute… this sounds familiar…
Ankle soreness is probably way better than a knee injury at the very least
Agreed. This sounds like a typical spring training injury – body just makes some movement it hasn’t in a few months. Hoping we’re right!
This tweet seems mild than what the video suggests but at least he was able to walk off the field
That sucks, hope he's okay
world series back on
Cancel spring training, can't have players getting injured in meaningless games
There’s no way someone actually posted this again lmao
This is pretty much going to be posted for any and every spring training injury.
There's a rotation, it just happened to be my turn
It’s time to end this
Wow real original take man you're so funny
Thank you
It’s just a little ironic you gotta admit
What a cool new post
Thank you
Can't wait for the robo players
Poor Mets fans, man. Absolutely shit spring for you guys.
i crave death!
Older Mets fans will get this - this season is already giving off strong 1987 vibes
Yeah without the whole ‘86 part coming first unfortunately
Was Citi Field built on a god damn Indian Burial Grounds or something? I mean….damn

It’ll fester and be problematic all season fingers crossed
Sorry to burst your bubble r/Baseball, looks like his ACL is fine

1) Despair levels: uncertain 2) How bout y'all vultures back the fuck off for like *an hour*
Opening Day...Here's the first pitch....and the seasons over.
Keith Olbermann in shambles. Didn’t look too bad to me. Hopefully nothing more than a sprain.
Ankle sounds better. Looked like a non contact one injury at first which would be bad normally
**WE CAN'T BE HAVING THIS IN MEANINGLESS BASEBALL SKIP THE SEASON AND GO STRAIGHT TO PLAYOFFS ALREADY, SINGLE ELIMINATION PLAYOFFS BETWEEN 30 TEAMS**
Isn’t that basically how the WBC handles it’s format though lol
Cancel spring games, cancel regular season games, determine WS winner by computer simulation
Ban ST

You're really obsessed with posting this in every thread possible, huh?
Dudes just been toxic the last 20 minutes it's embarrassing
You can tell he and a lot of other non-Mets fans are absolutely giddy a Met was injured in a spring training game.
It’s actually really unfortunate that this happened and I like Nimmo a lot, but this event simply proves to the “cancel WBC” crowd that injuries can happen anywhere.

The number of people I see vigorously attacking straw men in these threads is ridiculous.
Ohh come on, a lot of Mets fans have been calling to cancel the WBC for the last 24 hours. It was driving me crazy lol
First time ?

We're going 10-152 this year...
you’re not dooming enough. 0-162, hell 0-163!
I want to know where Olbermann stands on this.

Alright. Someone clearly poisoned the water supply of NY baseball teams.
