The most important thing is to always have a way to take out overlevelled phantoms. Most low level players don’t stand a chance against a properly prepared invader, even 2v1. But overlevelled phantoms almost constantly spell death below level 50. A few recommendations: Storm Assault (easily accessible unbreakable poise reversal), Stormhawk Axe, Ruptured Tear flask. Consumables are also brutally broken at low level. Pots, poison clumps and throwing knives do ridiculous damage. I usually use Volcano Pots because they function as zoning as well as damage in close quarters, but fire pots and Redmane pots work too. Perfumes are strong as well.

hey man, tagging on here a bit, I was trying to avoid going str on my stormveil guy but dex/int splits my stats too much to be super effective i had some cheeky ideas that just don't seem to work at 30. is it basically pick-one and then that and vigor? the only thing that's been working is unsheathe and double cold estocs but unsheathe would be better if i went full dex and the estocs simply aren't giving me enough burst on phantoms like you say

TheGreatZephyrical

Yeah, it’s usually best to either stick with one stat+vigor, *or* to use stat-boosting gear. If I need a small dex boost, I usually use Millicent’s Prosthesis, as that gives a continuous attack bonus as well as +5 dex. The Soreseals also provide decent enough health boost at this level to generally justify the resistance debuff, but that can be personal choice as well. Estoc are a little awkward, their staggered hits while dualstanced aren’t ideal. I used a Cleanrot knight sword and estoc for a while, and found *some* success with Millicent’s Prosthesis and the Rotten Winged Insignia. Unsheathe, on the other hand, is an absolute monster, as I’m sure you’ve worked out. Sometimes it’s just too hard to get a build to work at a certain level. I wanted to make a Str/Int Gravity build and tried at every level up to 130, and it wasn’t until I reached 130 that I felt strong and comfortable enough with the build to actually have any decent success. What were your other ideas?

Makomako_mako

I was indeed soresealing it, I was trying to make a moonveil setup work but 30's just too low to abuse it really, you do loads less damage than an uchi unsheathe even split between dex and int. Then I tried meteorite staff/rock sling and closing the gap while the rocks landed with spinning slash, too cutesy Uchi/offhand estoc was going alright but definitely felt suboptimal to like, halberd or something in main hand My last gimmick before I ran out of patience was rushing the silver tear mask to bump arcane so i could use oracle bubbles and great oracular bubble lmao it was a HUGE bust I'm probably just gonna go full dex or str and make a mage for 80 or 125 instead tbh

TheGreatZephyrical

Yeah, Moonveil’s scaling really prefers higher levels, unfortunately. Oh God, don’t even talk to me about the bubble spells. I tried *so* hard to get those to work, even made a brand new build for them. They’re so abysmally bad. Catastrophically the worst spells in the arsenal. Which was a major pity as the theme of that character rocked. Honestly, at RL25, I make do with more or less the minimum required stats for my primary weapons. I use a cold Banished Knight Halberd with Storm Assault, dual lightning Warhawk talons and the Stormhawk Axe, mostly. I also have a Stormstomp Claymore and a Vacuum Slice Uchi but they’re more flashy side pieces than anything else. Fair warning, very few people have decent lightning resistance. I highly recommend trying that out, and lightning scales with Dex. It’s a great choice.

Makomako_mako

Damnit, I guess there goes the bubble plan entirely hahahah Good looks dude, thanks for the suggestions, I actually looked at warhawk talons so I might explore that avenue next after I larval tear

Figure out which level range you want to target. Ultra low level is like 1-15 +3, which I've never done but is apparently fun. Usually I aim for around 25 +3 f for my low level guys, which usually gets you most of limgrave, stormveil, and weeping peninsula. Anything higher and you will start struggling to find activity, as most players will have finished stormveil and received rogiers rapier or Edgar's halberd, pushing them into the +8 bracket. If you want to target liurnia and caelid, you'll want to level your weapons up to at least +8, +12 at the highest, and go up to 30-40. As for routes, just rush Margit and godrick, theyre easy fights, especially if you went vagabond, return to roundtable and talk to enia. Go to first step and read Varre's message to get clap emote (missable if you don't), then go to rose church to get Varre's quest and do what he asks. Go north from rose church to four belfries, get key from top belfry and go to chapel of anticipation, kill boss and soak the favor in blood and there you go, bloody finger. Edit: forgot to mention, if you're doing a low level +3 bracket it's imperative that you do not tell Roger you beat godrick, or you will receive his rapier and be forced to level up. Additionally, if you meet ranni (not renna) rogier dies, and interacting with his corpse gives the rapier.

Augur_of_Moonlight

Also don't kill Edgar in Castle Morne because that gives you a +8 Banished Knight Halberd. Edit: Oh you mentioned that.... derp

hmmstillclosed

Thanks for letting me know about rogier, I 100% would’ve talked to him

Crogus9000

You can still talk to him and buy things from him, you just have to avoid the dialogue option "I defeated godrick" Also avoid defeating Edgar at the revenger's shack in Liurnia, or killing him in weeping peninsula, as his death forces you to receive his +8 halberd. Also also don't kill patches for the same reason.

Secure-Iron1531

The recusant finger is easiest and quickest to get a low levels, just ride straight to each pieces of the medallion for the greatlift and run past everything Then go see Rya in Lirunia, get and give her necklace then take the greatlift and she’s right there ready to take you to the manor and boom recusant finger

SleepyJackdaw

Beat Godrick and do the Varre questline, I'd say. It's trivial at Base level +0 as long as you have soreseal and a strong ash like stance or unsheathe.

CursedEternia

If I may make a suggestion, you could always make a proper mule out of him. Go grab all the major areas and graces by playing through as a level 1, and get someone to do a full drop (+0) for you. It takes some time for sure, probably multiple days unless you’re dialed, but quite worth it. When you’re done, you can start a session, level up/change builds to whatever you want to throughout the session, and then revert the save when you’re done for the day. I streamed this process not too long ago and had a blast. Fun with friends and when you’re done you have quite the Swiss Army knife to play with.

Thanks for everyone’s help, I have a level 30 build now and I’m having a lot of fun with it

marshwizard

Where are you invading at level 30?

hmmstillclosed

I’m using the invade everywhere option but it’s taking me to limgrave, liurnia, caelid, and random dungeons in those places

marshwizard

I'm on holiday so I haven't had chance yet to experience the "invade anywhere" option but it seems pretty cool from what I've read.

SnooObjections488

Anyone try a lvl 30-50 full int build using the sword spells? Miscorde for parries with a shield breaking weapon art as the main hand possibly 🤷 Might split stats up too much and im not sure if milicents prosthesis works for the sword spells (and to cover the dex requirements for a weapon?) Might have to mess with it but it could be solid

Crogus9000

Doubt you'd have enough mind to make this work. On my mid-level Spellblade I usually run out of blue juice after a few minutes. I doubt this kind of setup would work outside of duels tbh

SnooObjections488

Probably right, maybe using the boosting talismans 🤷‍♂️ may give it a try anyways. Worst comes to worse I summon and kill Rennala to respec
