You know what? I loved and watched all the tv shows you mentioned except PLL and Riverdal. Although I didn't watched those tv shows because of the romance. they are pretty good and have a decent a lesson about friendship and family relationships
I haven't seen PLL either, and only the first season of Riverdale. In the comic, Jughead is aro-ace, but the producers changed him to het allo, so I haven't watched past season 1.
The fact that they straight-washed Jughead isn’t talked about nearly enough. One of the few canon aroace characters to ever exist, and definitely one of the most famous- but no, they had to just completely ignore his orientation.
I honestly don't know if teen horror is what I would describe Riverdale as, there is such a tonal whiplash between, and even within a season, that nobody can perfectly pin down what it is. Well except for a bad show.
as an aroace, i’m so sad that i’ve seen at least a bit of all of these. especially tvd i don’t think i could rewatch it (it’s just So het allo and i watched it before i realized i was queer)
kinda reminds me of a quote i read somewhere:
"whenever i hear about a love triangle in a show, I've found that its usually actually a love corner, which the girl is backed into"
or something like that
And especially since she literally didn't even do anything to get them to like her???? She literally was mean to them if anything. It's like they just like her because she's a girl and that's it lol
Agreed, If they wanted to someone close to betray wednesday they could've given her like an evil Watson (Sherlock) I mean THEY WERE LITERALLY SOLVING MULTIPLE MURDERS!!!
That’s the thing, Jenna was constantly changing the script to fit more of the Wednesday style. They’d constantly have to stop scenes cause she was fixing them. She even said that she thought the love triangle didn’t make any sort of sense. Love her <3 and I will forever be angry she had to choreograph her own dance, where was the dance instructor?
Yes! The dance was wonderful, and actually based on old goth dance moves! I’m just upset that she had to do that, she had to make her own dance. She shouldn’t, as the actor, have to make the choreography
I don't want fell Burton and the writers in the back but I feel that they wanted to create a teen drama in Wednesday style but Wednesday doesn't work in that kind of genre. I know Tim Burton loves to sometimes combine love relationships with the grotesque but it's doesn't fit on Wednesday. Gomez and Morticia yeah but not Wednesday and two boys.
‼️I AGREE‼️
dude I hated that love triangle so much, I feel as if it was so unnecessary. They practically forced her to fall in love with one of the guys at the end. I don’t think she showed any romantic interest towards them at all (could be misremembering though, I watched it a while ago). They were just all over her for seemingly no reason. Or just because she’s a “quirky mysterious girl, who’s so different from everyone else.” SMH
"i thought you liked me, wednesday!", Boy, she has acted like a wall towards you, like she has with *everyone* else. Sit the fuck down tyler. The only one she had some kind of chemistry with was enid, and even that's stretching it
No but why did they have her fall for the most basic plain white bread of a boy
I'll never get over that part where she had the choice of going to a spooky forest in the middle of the night to hunt for a monster with her bee friend or go to a dance with some guy and she chose the dance
There was no romance. If anyone can see any romance, they were not paying attention. It looked to me like a person trying to solve a crime and making some connections as they go. But not necessarily romantic. The kiss was met with "this is a terrible idea". And everything else had the purpose to discover the truth. Yes, she connects, but it looks like romance neutral/platonic to me.
I agree, there was never any desire or attraction from her that was significant from what I can remember. She is still very aro, not sure about ace though.
I personally never seen it but i do watch videos on youtube and i did see a video on it but it wasnt much. And im sorry if my comment before was a bit rude. I just dont like seeing other people getting insulted. And based on the downvote on your comment it seems to have insulted people

YES. I made a post recently saying how dissatisfied I was with the end of seasons 1 because of the weird random romance. I loved every other aspects of the series tho. Literally everything I love in one series and she's so careless and badass too. So I hope there's more horror in season 2
They didn't even address the statement that wednesday said at the start about "not falling in love and not becoming a housewife" or something (>-\_-)>? and whenever a romantic scene is about to happen it feels so forced like wednesday is a different character entirely
Okay, hear me out. When we were first introduced to the possibility of Wednesday having a love interest, I can't even describe how pissed off I was because I have never been able to find a series where the main character doesn't have a love interest. The same happened to me when I read/watched The Hunger Games.
All I want is a series where a protagonist doesn't end up having a love interest that literally messes up Athena plot and the stuff that the protagonist could've originally done. I get if it's supposed to be a love movie, but when they unexpectedly throw a love interest at us, it just angers me so much.
Anyone who prefers romance in their teen horror show can go watch Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars...
You know what? I loved and watched all the tv shows you mentioned except PLL and Riverdal. Although I didn't watched those tv shows because of the romance. they are pretty good and have a decent a lesson about friendship and family relationships

Legacies is the boom
fr? i think legacies is the worst if the three
as an aroace, i’m so sad that i’ve seen at least a bit of all of these. especially tvd i don’t think i could rewatch it (it’s just So het allo and i watched it before i realized i was queer)
The love triangle in Wednesday as a whole was stupid and unnecessary. The one thing I hated most about the show
I felt like Wednesday thought it was unnecessary too. It was interesting her having to navigate thirsty boys.
Fr, how do you get caught in a love triangle you don't even want to be a part of
I mean...... post the question in this group. You will probably have multiple stories
Nah... We can have tons of stories cause aros are kinda bad in recognising romance (mostly)
kinda reminds me of a quote i read somewhere: "whenever i hear about a love triangle in a show, I've found that its usually actually a love corner, which the girl is backed into" or something like that

love corner* didnt see the two guys liking eachother so its not a triangle
Fr, wish we could take back the love triangle title but at this point I just call it polyamory and let them have it
honestly that would be much more bearable for me
Yes exactly. Totally agree. Couldn't even keep watching because it was so cringe and weird
Agreed, If they wanted to someone close to betray wednesday they could've given her like an evil Watson (Sherlock) I mean THEY WERE LITERALLY SOLVING MULTIPLE MURDERS!!!

wait but I liked the dance though, it was fun and a mood (also inspired by the OG Addams Family stuff)
Yes! The dance was wonderful, and actually based on old goth dance moves! I’m just upset that she had to do that, she had to make her own dance. She shouldn’t, as the actor, have to make the choreography

I was excited for it, but sad when it just felt like any other CWish type show. Lots of drama and hot bods.
Plus she did it while she had Covid on set 3
YES
Queen behaviour
She really seemed aromantic to me. Maybe allosexual or ace.
I got aroallo vibes. Not against kissing but not needing it either. Zero romance, but potential for friendship.
Wednesday is incredibly ace/aro coded imo. Give me my a-spec Queen dammit

Literally LOL
Seems like I may look into watching this show after all.
First season was rlly good, the romantic stuff is there but it's pretty easy to ignore imo
Even as someone that loves romance I completely agree, the love triangle in this show has been unnecessary.
thank you queen
Agreed!
Thank god
I haven't seen it, but I would gladly watch it over an romantic comedy or drama any day if I had the chance.
As much as I love weclair FUCKING FINALLY A GOOD SHOW WITHOUT ADDED UNNECESSARY ROMANCE OMFG
No but why did they have her fall for the most basic plain white bread of a boy I'll never get over that part where she had the choice of going to a spooky forest in the middle of the night to hunt for a monster with her bee friend or go to a dance with some guy and she chose the dance
She knows better than the writers, there for it she is aromantic as fuck
I can't blame her.
wednesday gives SUCH aspec vibes. i was sad to see how much romance there was, hoping there is in fact less next season!
Yes please :)
I mean, she also wants Wednesday to eventually end up with Enid, and so does Enid's actor, so...
Shame. I read that as friendship goals.
Maybe, but I'm okay with it. We need more representation in the community, and if that includes a bi Enid and a bi Wednesday, then I'm okay with that.
That would be cool too. I would watch a bi Wednesday. But I just do not see her falling in love with anyone of any gender.
Fucking same!!!
Good, shut down those annoying ass shippers

I happen to be autistic as well.
Glad to know So does common not-understanding of ASD by society frustrate you? Or have you experienced better environment?
Im a female so i was diagnosed later in my life. I was diagnosed at 15. Girls can hide the signs easier without even trying to
Yes i know. I was diagnosed at 20, despite the severity of my symptoms. I’m quite traumatised from it.
Im able to function better than others. But not enough to hold a job.

as we all do
I hated that romance subplot, though hopefully it'll solidify her dislike of getting into relationships.
A true Wednesday
