Nahhhh man just when I think this series can’t get better it does. First of all wtf, the twist with mystvearn being vearn/vearn shadow was really a shock, but given how easily “vearn” went down to dai i knew there had to be something bigger. Avan and Kill’s end was so satisfying tho. Kill been talking so much shit for the entire series and I loved seeing Avan just thoroughly outsmart him lol. Him even admitting that he was scared was also cool. We also have to talk about hadlar’s ashes protecting Avan. The character development in this series is among the best in the medium. From hyunckel, Hadlar, Popp, Lon Beruk etc etc just so many people growing immensely over the course of these 90 episodes. Hadlar going from this evil diabolical being to even helping the heroes down the stretch is reminiscent of Vegeta/piccolo. Looks like the real final battle starts next week, can’t wait.

sneaky_squirrel

That was certainly a double whammy. Killvearn's name is meant to imply he was to "Kill Vearn" under certain circumstances. WHO IS HIS MASTER?! I have always been suspicious of the tiny cyclops familiar. That thing has been screaming "big baddie hiding under our noses" ever since we first saw Killvearn, so it would be rad to see him to be revealed as Killvearn's master in disguise. And Mystvearn is the actual demon lord. So what is the old version of Vearn supposed to be I wonder. XD Shapeshifting Sensei was awesome. I did not see that one coming.

philltastic1

The familiar thing you brought up sounds too cliche and too much like a 90s troppe. I hope it doesn't go in that direction.

Burning Cremation=Incinerating Inferno

emeraldwolf34

Well, next week is the last ten episodes folks. And with Killvearn’s fight ending this week, and as we see in the preview, only 2 fights left in the show. God this is gonna be insane.

dragonzord555

To those who speculated that Killvearn's true identity could be Avan. Congratulations, you were partially right. To be fair, Avan shouldn't have saved Killvearn from the flames if he really didn't trust the reaper, but I suppose it's more ironic for the trap-geek reaper to be killed by a trap himself. Hadlar may be gone, but he's still helping the team out against Vearn, one being him and another being his ash. So he is technically still fighting alongside the heroes, which is what we wanted to see.

dinliner08

> Avan shouldn't have saved Killvearn from the flames if he really didn't trust the reaper its more like Avan can't really confirm whether Kill is going to 100% die from the blaze, that's why he save him just to cut his head off

il-Palazzo_K

PSA: If you hadn't read the manga, skip next episode preview.

dinliner08

Hadlar keeps being a bro even after death

sneaky_squirrel

We see more character development even after he dies. We see even MORE character development, because he also clones himself unto a metal version. Character-Development-sama! I really like this character. Talk about zero to hero.

Yuxkta

At first, I was disappointed in Avan's survivals, but seeing Hadlar give a thumbs up while smirking made it all go away. Really loved this episode, but I feel like they're edging us with all the stuff about Myst's/Vearn's backstory. Can't wait for the next episode, preview looked interesting.

sneaky_squirrel

It was pretty funny to hear him say he survived two Megante explosions. I can't take Avan's mortality seriously, but I am loving the story as well regardless. Hadlar is carrying this anime.

GyroGOGOZeppeli

When this show started, my guess was that Killvearn and Mystvearn was two sides of Vearn. But someone told me I was wrong, then I wondered if Avan was Killvearn resurrected, because he started appearing after Avan "died" (since Myst was already in the army at the start). Guess I was wrong but partly correct on both guesses lol, since Avan dressed up as Kill for a bit.

Imaginary-End-08

That's hilarious lol.

AmauriEdson

>But someone told me I was wrong, then I wondered if Avan was Killvearn resurrected, because he started appearing after Avan "died" (since Myst was already in the army at the start). That's funny because, in the old adaptation, Avan and Killvearn had the same voice actor (Hideyuki Tanaka, who was also the narrator) Sidenote: Pop and Mystvearn also shared the VA (Keiichi Nanba)

ivanm_10

Killvearn vs Avan is probably my favorite fight of the series so far. What a crazy turnout

Scopper_gabon

Damn, so we don't get to see Kill's face? (does he even have one?) Was looking forward to seeing what he really looked like since he was introduced.

Yaakuntik

Don't worry, you might still get to. Avan might be smarter than all the characters on this anime, accept for Killvearn perhaps...

Tabrith900

So after his death, Hadlar has, in order: possessed his pawn, resurrecting him and turning him into a human/chess piece hybrid, turned into magical ashes and saved Avan, and made Killvearn selfcombust with those same ashes. Seems like this guy really had more achievements after his death that during his lifetime... i love this series but i think the author really tries too hard sometimes...

TwoSpaceJunkies

I started watching this anime two years ago with my wife, I told her this was a remake of a series from my childhood. I warned her that it has almost every fantasy cliche you could imagine...we have been enjoying it immensely and also it's been a recurring joke of ours to make fun of Hadlar's plot armour. Yesterday she was like "oh my god why, Hadlar again?!"

SogePrinceSama

How can your wife not see that Hadlar 'killing' Avan was just a long-setup towards eventually redeeming himself as a chaotic neutral anti-hero that would create the opportunity for Avan to defeat a major End Boss

Demolosse001

Avan's plot armour is as thick as Hyunckel's I see. He may as well defeat Mystvearn when he's at it. Surely he has another ~~deus ex machina~~ extremely convenient technique for that. The Avan fight was enjoyable but disappointed we didn't get Killvearn Vs Popp. I still think Avan should have died after the Hadlar fight.. Overall, I appreciate the many twists in the series so far and it is constantly getting better. I have honestly no idea what to expect with the Vearn situation. And who is the mysterious master of Killvearn ?

Darkestagin

Actually he already said that he invented the lili lunar sand to escape the trial cave before this. He even use the sand to catch up to heroes party after he temporary stop killvearn before this. It's no deus ex machina.

Imaginary-End-08

Hadlar from beyond the grave lol. I really wished that Avan had survived, but I didn't want his reveal to happen until after Popp met Killvearn again. I honestly thought he'd survive by using time stop or Kaclang. But I mean..... more Hadlar is always good: from protecting Dai and Popp in the fire trap, to imbuling Hym with his power..... CHadlar was a boss. I got to say... Killvearn's backstory raises more questions than answers now. His name was actually his mission lol. That follows his usual antics. But.... just who the hell does he work for. My money's on the God of the Underworld/Darklings. We've already seen the Dragon Mother and I'm still banking on Avan being the God of Humans lol..... he has too much forethought and plot armor lol. (I really wanted to see Kill's true face). Now, I don't believe Popp or Brokeena are dead........ but I can think of no way for them to have survived a spell they didn't even know was coming (unless Popp never casted Medroa)..... but it incinerated the rocks so....... Finally with Myst. I'm so confused. I initially thought he was Vearn's son by a human when he tried but failed to live on the surface. But now it's revealed that he's the true Dark Lord Vearn..... but it doesn't seem like that's all. Idk what his true secret is but I can't wait to hear it because I really can't figure this one out. Don't know if this needs a spoiler but the preview seemed to show an evil Maam going to town on poor Hym. This leads me with only one guess of Myst's true identity. Myst is actually a shadow. The real Vearn died somehow and Mysty is a spell of a falsely revived Vearn. I believe evil Maam is Myst with some kind of Morph ability because he's a shadow..... And I think that Vearn wanted Myst's face covered because it reminds him of a time where he once lost.

Piats99

>I don't believe Popp or Brokeena are dead Well, the rule is "no body no death". I won't take the bait. Maybe Brokeena is dead, but Popp is 100% safe and sound. My guess is that Mist is some sort of vessel where Vearn stored his magic power and when he would have died, he could have come back to life in a new body. Like Orochimaru in Naruto, where he trained and prepared Sasuke for years to be his new body. Considering DQ has influenced the majority of shonen out there and created many tropes used even these days, the vessel theory might be true. I'm looking forward to it. Hope Maam is good, safe and sound.

philltastic1

I feel like I have may been close to figuring it out 2 weeks ago https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonquest/comments/wbm3l2/comment/ii9gj6z/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Imaginary-End-08

Lol. I see. Kudos for that. I can't wait until they spell it out for me next week.

whyktor

Kind of disapointed by Avan's plot armor to be honest, the why he survived didn't felt earned.

helsaabiart

Myst identity is revealed. Avan is a great tactical fighter
