Everytime new eps comes out i ask myself "Where's everybody ?" It's hidden gem right here and you guys missing it ! Series have been solid so far. You got cool guy, cute girls what more to ask ? Come on give this show a chance ! I never get enough with Niyodo fans, these girls always crack me up, they're so unpredictable.. also do these girls always drunk or what ? I mean look at them, always in bar or something like that. 3 eps left, can we get more eps ? Or S2 already ?

dagreenman18

We are the Niyodo Fan Club, but for the show. How meta

cyberscythe

Yeah, I was saying in the last discussion thread that I can relate to the Niyodo fans a lot because of how little the rest of the subreddit seems to care about this series.

TakenRedditName

If Kami Kuzu Idol has a million fans then I am one of them. If Kami Kuzu Idol has no fans, it means I am dead. [](#teekyuuhype) My favourite show of the season is unfortunately the one that has shorter than usual amount of episodes. [](#hajimepout)

Septaluna

This is comedy of the season. The humour is really on point, it doesn't get boring, fans' reactions are precious.. Show of the season?

cyberscythe

Honestly this series is the one I'm having the most fun with this season. The banter between the characters is on-point, the fans are funny, and I like this "love/hate" triangle between Asahi, Yuya, and Hikaru. On top of that, the stakes in this series are pretty low, so it's a comfy comedy that I can chill with. If only the animation was better, though. It's not just the CG performances, but there's a lot of "cheating" going on, especially in the last episode when they kept cutting away from the action (I assume so that they don't have to animate stuff like the cavalry battle).

Septaluna

Yeah, if it had more budget it surely would uplift the whole material, tho this simplicity is kinda cute. I just love when opening comes on and it has this kinda disco western, not at slighest serious vibes, it just fits with this simple animation. Ŕeally hoping it would do well in sales for another season.

DecentlySizedPotato

fwiw this is one of my favourite anime this season but I rarely visit these posts.

> Everytime new eps comes out i ask myself "Where's everybody ?" It's hidden gem right here and you guys missing it ! Series have been solid so far. You got cool guy, cute girls what more to ask ? Come on give this show a chance ! It's such a shame really, because it's an extremely accessible show. Perhaps the only caveats are that the performances are a bit rough, but it's not that type of Idol show anyway.

dakkumauji

You hate someone so much you watched all his past performances, go to all his current ones, analyze all his moves in said performances, complied them (with sources!) into a super functional and fan friendly website and release it to the world. Yep, that's hate. Unrelated to that, I really liked Mogami's talk with Niyodo. It was really sweet and it really seemed like it opened his eyes to his fans. There was a lot of fun moments too, like Yoshino saying there's some big ZINGS news and his first followup to that is they weren't disbanding and Niyodo showing some emotion and then physically dying cause that was too much for him. Why is this series so much fun

SYZekrom

Niyodo is okaying the threesome

cyberscythe

I have to say, I was not expecting this series to become a harem. [](#rengethink)

alotmorealots

From Niyodo's perspective, this is yet another thing he can outsource!

Pikagreg

I love the Zing fangirls so much.

the_swizzler

They're easily the best part of the show.

ObvsThrowaway5120

Setouchi and his obsession with Niyodo, man. The super fan should be using those web design skills for good, not attacking and hate watching Niyodo lol. Seems like the guy went through a period of burn out when he was in middle school or something. I guess I can see why he’s such a super fan. Dude practically lives 24/7 thinking WWAD (What Would Asahi Do) lol. I’m glad Yoshino is getting more opportunities. Now he can make more money for Niyodo by promoting ZINGS lol. But really, I’m glad Niyodo is kind of realizing the effect he has on those around him. Setouchi and his fans and Yoshino all support him because they care about him. That last song was so good, Setouchi finally let go of his Asahi obsession and hopped aboard the Niyodo train haha. Him running away all embarrassed at the end was pretty hilarious.

ngedown

At this point he's not only joining the hype train, he became the train operator himself, lol

ObvsThrowaway5120

Lmao true true

There's something I like about Niyodo as the "honestly lazy idol". One thing that makes me uncomfortable about idol groups is this sort of cheesy/fake facade that they put up to build up this parasocial relationship, but Niyodo just doesn't feel like putting in the effort to do that, and I feel like that makes his personality feel more sincere. Like, how he rolls up to performances and meet-ups with this open attitude of "it's kind of weird y'all are into this, but a paycheck's a paycheck; now watch me half-ass this" is funny, sort of like a professional wrestler who's breaking the rules of kayfabe. I think [this ending line from Asahi](https://i.imgur.com/Urt5FZs.png) wraps up the sort of feeling I get with Niyodo, that he sort of breaks the rules in a way that are antithetical to the idol industrial complex, and that makes him unique and his fans love him for that. I hope that he keeps his streak of "oh god, i hope i can get away with doing as little work as possible to earn a living" because if this turns into a story about the value of hard work and how being a typical idol is great, then I think it loses a lot of its charm.

alotmorealots

The writing for his character has been really good. He's never been outright unlikeable before you get to know him, and the more that the audience spends with him the more he grows on you. He both makes progress forwards as a character, developing more heart, empathy and putting in real unforced effort - yet at the same time he never loses that innate lazy ass nature either, and the whole thing fits together perfectly naturally. > I think this ending line from Asahi She's 16/7/8 going on 6/7/80 in terms of wisdom. I find her really quite inspiring despite the fact that her wisdom is condensed around idols and idol fans lol

dagreenman18

I love the miscalculation on Setouchi’s part. He underestimated Niyodo’s fanbase and now there’s a convenient, well researched site for them to bask in his “glory”. Also in the process turning himself into a fan. I hope he meets out Fangirls in his stalker getup. Niyodo putting in actual effort is having a positive effect on others and it might feed back into his career with that drama spot for Yoshino. Even if he is a dirtbag, he’s the best dirtbag. He’s even encouraging a PolyIdolry for Setouchi!

BrownSugarSandwich

Oh my gaaaawwwwwd my heart. I can't take these feeeeeeeels. How can they pack this much story into one episode. And it doesn't even feel rushed. I just can't T_T So goooood.

alotmorealots

I don't know why I have all these feels either, but I'm glad I'm not the only one!!!

LunchReport

Niyodo has acquired a tsundere super fan. Asahi explaining why fans support idols was a charming moment. Niyodo's internal monologue where he was thinking up believable lies to ensure Asahi keeps doing half his work was hilarious. I love the dynamic between him and the fans during the concert. They were cheering just so that he would have enough energy to show some emotions again.

BusouDrago

Setouchi is now Niyodo biggest fan

SlipperyRasputin

That performance cgi was rough. Either way still enjoying this show immensely. The Setouchi flashback got me at first. I’m all for his backstory and when Asahi died I was like “oh no!” Before I realized the whole concept of the show starts with her being dead.

cyberscythe

Yeah, the CGI is not great; I was reminded about how bad the CG was in the first season of *Zombie Land Saga*. In general though, much like a ZINGS fan, I've already adjusted my expectations for this series' animation to be pretty low, so I'm not disappointed.

SlipperyRasputin

From what I’ve seen of this show is they’ve managed to hide it pretty well. S1 of ZLS had a lot of performances that were very focused. It looks like they’ve balanced it out here with using the stage lights and zoom outs to help make it a little less noticeable. I get why they do it. This is just the first time I’ve sat back like “oh that one’s pretty rough”. But if it took this long into the series for me to say that I’d say it’s pretty good.

alotmorealots

> That performance cgi was rough. Feels a bit like they're reinventing the dance animation wheel a bit, their motion sequences are uncomfortably stiff. The action model and render technology itself seems not too bad though, I think it just tends to look terrible because of the awful costumes they wear, which would not look great hand animated either. I also think that the original character face designs might not help - they're easy enough to model, but they already can look a bit goofy even when hand animated unlike the more moe rounder faces, so it stands out a bit whenever they look a bit odd. Direction was a bit better today, using the backlighting well, but still not able to fully capitalise on the strength/weaknesses of the CGI at their disposal. > Before I realized the whole concept of the show starts with her being dead. I'm always saddened whenever she "dies" again in the narrative. I think it's trauma bonding me to her character lol

sKyBlazer08

ZINGS fans are just built different, of course that includes Setouchi lmao. Their first reaction to ZINGS big announcement is them disbanding, I love the fans. Now I have this urge to see Setouchi interact with Niyodo's fangirls lmao.

alotmorealots

> of course that includes Setouchi Born to be a ZINGS fan, only he didn't realise it.

TakenRedditName

A wonderful episode. The comedy took a back seat this weak to focus on the emotional aspect. Niyodo’s charm of being true to himself on stage is his charm and I am just like the audience seeing him smile earnestly. The ending with Setouchi and Niyodo (and Asahi) was very nice. [](#seasonalapproval) Something that keeps surprising me is how young all of these characters are. Setouchi was only in middle school 3 years ago. If I remember right, Yoshino (and/or Niyodo) showed up in a school uniform too for ZINGS’ creation. [](#mindmelt)

mekerpan

It seems that, at least on this sub-reddit, being an "idol show" or even just sort of "idol-adjacent" (looking at you, *CUE!* and *Teppen*) is sort of a kiss of death. Even having an interesting story (with a different slant) and great characters (including the supporting ones) just doesn't seem to be enough. Ironically, ***I'm*** watching a record number of these this season. It's a good thing I enjoy the story and the characters -- because the CGI "performance" in this episode was horrifyingly dire. I had to try to mostly look away and just listen. The traditionally-animated parts of this may not be especially "fancy" -- but they are more than adequate (for me). But that CGI .... I wonder how they will wrap this up in just 3 more episodes (and I wonder why it was shorter than average in the first place)? I have to assume we will have to bid Asahi "adieu" -- but we shall see.

alotmorealots

> I have to assume we will have to bid Asahi "adieu" A completely UNACCEPTABLE outcome. https://i.imgflip.com/6ptvyd.jpg

Kartoffelkamm

Anyone else hoping Nyodo eventually slips up and says something incredibly incriminating that then forces him to reveal he has been talking to Asahi's ghost for the past few months, or is it just me? I don't know, I just think it'd be fun. Like, Yoshino and their manager immediately buy it, because him being possessed by an idol who's been dead for over a year is the most plausible explanation for him actually being such a good idol. But also, after the latest episode, I kinda want to see Setouchi finally tell Asahi how much she inspired him. Not just that Setouchi tells Nyodo, and Asahi overhears it, but that Setouchi actually knows he's talking to Asahi.

Fluid-Veterinarian61

> Like, Yoshino and their manager immediately buy it, because him being possessed by an idol who's been dead for over a year is the most plausible explanation for him actually being such a good idol. "Yeah, that explains everything. So what's for lunch?"

JustAGuyNamedSteven

For anyone curious: the QR code on the idol recruitment poster takes you to [kami-kuzu.com](https://kami-kuzu.com).

bro refuses to cheat on his oshi

testthrowawayzz

Ok. We BL now - just look at the lyrics of the ending theme (jk) The Niyodo fans are like no publicity is bad publicity

cyberscythe

This series went from zero to gay pretty quickly. Maybe not quite *Machikado Mazoku* levels, but then again, that ending ballad with Yuuya and Hikaru is something, right? [](#forbiddenlove)

testthrowawayzz

> This series went from zero to gay pretty quickly. Lol. This is getting more fun! Honestly I don’t mind this going gay as I loved *Given* and this initially went on my PTW because Hiiragi’s VA is voicing the MC (edit to add: as a preview of what his band will sound like if/when the story get to the point that his band will sing)

alotmorealots

> This series went from zero to gay pretty quickly. Hmm. If there's a girl inside you when there's a guy inside you but he think's he's inside a guy... is that gay, just really confusing or the natural consequence of division of labour?

Elitealice

Such a sweet episode. Lovely convo between Niyodo and Asahi. The last two eps have had some really sweet heart to hearts and have been slightly more serious in nature. Setouchi is such a kind soul on the inside too, nothing wrong with supporting multiple idols! Looking forward to next week, looks really fun from the preview!

alotmorealots

I am getting proto-Setouchi levels of attachment to Asahi at times. What fantastic ghost she is. If she was an idol in our world, I'd have been fully converted into idol fandom and have been converted to idol zealotry lol I'm not really sure why she inspires quite this sort of reaction. Maybe that's just what happens when you find Your Idol! (Didn't realise you're only meant to have one)

cam_and_mum

you can check Asahi's VA Toyama Nao, I'd say is pretty close
