I love the dynamics of the Maple / Mii / Payne trio. The serious competitive with a grind robot side, the charismatic one with a cute side, and the whatever Maple is.
Man, that was amazing. It's easily one of my top Maple moments thus far, and that's saying something with all of the crazy stuff she's managed. I loved how Payne and Mii saw it too and were just absolutely perplexed.
And her just being able to control it was hilarious too. Absolutely no one would've managed that but her
Same, I burst out laughing when Maple came with that alligator in the middle of the fight between Mii and Payne. Good thing I was alone in the room at the time, I must've looked like an idiot grinning lol
Remember how last episode the devs specifically said to be careful about giving monsters insides, because Maple will jump right in? Someone didn't listen, so Maple jumped right in.
Payne and Mii having their usual PVP bout and in comes the entity of chaos Maple in a huge alligator's mouth shooting lasers.

I can confidently say that was something I did not see coming at all. I mean I know Maple gets a little wild and things can get pretty absurd and silly, but that was like a whole other level lol. Love that goofball!
I remember a comment in season 1's discussions that said that Maple is uncounterable because you can't counter something you didn't think of. Payne hits like a dark souls boss is predictable, Miicovers everything in fire is predictable, but Maple's fuck you, I turned a monster into my vehicle so I can do drive by shootings is so out of left field you don't even know what's happening before you die.
In other news, turns out taunt traps are terrible against maple because she just farms it for points. whoops.
Seriously. You take your eyes off of her for five minutes and she either has just gotten five new abilities that are insanely overpowered through some absurd means, or she found some way to take advantage of the system that absolutely no one but her would've managed. In this case, they took their eyes off of her and she managed to turn the alligator into a vehicle and she was able to shoot lasers out of its mouth. It's insane what she does, and barely any of it is even on purpose.

That was probably intended. Unlimited spawn points in an event where you have to defeat a lot of monsters are going to be a critical gameplay aspect. However, for most people, past a certain point they will be revealed on the map and become a target for people who want to capture the spawner, as we saw everyone mention that it was strange to see Maple not moving.
Except when it comes to Maple, no one is crazy enough to try to take her spot.

If we're gonna see Chrom transform into Ceruledge, we need that transformation sequence with that montage music.
I can't decide what Pokémon Iz's is supposed to be. They laid down a shit ton of entry hazards that practically killed anybody that simply enters the battlefield. Like Stealth Rock + Spikes + Poison Spikes. Foretress maybe?
The devs didn't put a stomach on the crocodile but they forget Maple is now a tentacle alien monster so she can possibly possess and control a monster. The funniest part about it is Mii and Payne were having an epic battle but Maple's random appearance just totally killed the mood.

Also, combine it with a "debuff" that lets everything on the map see her. She was literally aggroing the entire god damn map.
I love how no player dared to try and approach her, like she showed up on the map for everyone to see, yet no one decided that fighting her was worth it
I can imagine some players walking in the direction that Maple's in, then they suddenly see her pop up on their map, and they instantly start running the other way. You'd need to make sure you're super far away to avoid any of Maple's shenanigans, and even then, Mii and Payne were still interrupted by her.
The developers should have seen that one coming. When the task is to kill as many monsters as possible, just the trap that draws in monsters is a huge advantage.
Did I catch it right that *not dying* also gave a bonus?
Might as well just seed Maple into the second round at that point. This was clearly a battle for #2.
They were on the right track with giving Maple the debuff that made monsters run away. Even if you don't die, you can't rank high if you are too slow to catch anything.
But they F'd up with the pollen trap. Even if it was made to overwhelm players like Payne or Mii, they should've figured Maple would just abuse it.
Yeah, that was actually a smart debuff. She could've still easily get a ride with Sally though in order to help catch them, though. But it was still a step in the right direction, but then they immediately reverse it by leading every monster right to her.
Guess they didn't intend on her getting both, but at this point, there's absolutely nothing that's impossible for Maple to pull off
If I were to guess, maybe that cloud that taunts monsters is also poisonous (because it's purple?), and since Maple had poison resist she could use this cloud?
My sympathies to the game devs, game balance is hard, especially when the game is that big.
I can't get over the damned tentacles, more than that I can't get over that Maple LIKES them. She constantly has them out and treats it like the best thing ever, I want a fraction of her ability to be entertained by EVERYTHING.
It’s also hard when you have someone like Maple just wrecking shit. She’s so damn OP, she’s throwing off the balance of the whole game and nothing these devs do seems to work lol.
Maple’s exploration luck is just too impeccable, you can’t really design a counter to that
what seems to work are the pets, which is probably the devs passively buffing everyone’s power level
and the “no-stomach” monsters. Goddamn they nerfed the shit out of Maple
Only to have Maple take their nerfs and somehow use it to her advantage. Getting carried around as a fluff ball inside a giant alligators mouth while firing death star lasers was not on the list of things they thought would happen.
And since Maple's unbalance isn't actually that harmful (presumably Maple Tree is still at the level of Flame Emperors and Holy Swords, although the new event will update that leaderboard), they don't have many reasons to adjust their designs for her.
In fact, I'm starting to believe that they're having fun. They seem to design encounters that are balanced but also have that one gimmick that Maple will be to find a way to overcome, and they love watching her do that.
Plus, at this point, Maple has so many different abilities that it is hard to nerf her. Taking away 1 of her numerous OP abilities won't diminish her that much. But, the nerfing process might cripple another player's build.

Honestly I think this is why this series works so well. Watching Maple have fun and be entertained by whatever she's doing that episode is just so entertaining in of itself.
Agreed. Maple is truly one with the moment and grateful for all the good in her life. She reminds me of Gol D. Roger.
That being said, it's honestly not that hard to train yourself to do. If ya get too caught up in thoughts you can't see how damn amusing everything really is. LSD in my 20s opened my eyes to enjoying the utter absurdity that goes into each moment.
Knowing her, Maple probably just thinks those tentacles are cute. Although from a practical point of view, having six arms/appendages instead of just two is quite useful.
Not super relevant, but I wish we had some more IRL stuff. But I did really love the scenes where Maple was accidentally doing game stuff in her classes, so it'd be cool to get some more of that

Ehh. Yeah, balancing is hard, but are they even trying? Usually devs just balance already existing skills, instead of introduce 50 more OP skills and hope that somehow balance things out.
The problem is that the devs are hidding rare stuff as an exploration reward and characters have unlimited skill slots. IRL that would get everyone to a wiki and within 5 minutes having every single ability.
the biggest "fantasy" in this anime is not how magical and amazing the immersion is, is how there arent 20 wikis that detail how to get every item and tables for drop chance and interactions
There was a quick mention in the past that Maple's build is not possible anymore since a couple small abilities she got right at the start were patched to have different acquisition triggers.
Honestly this is all that is holding my suspension of disbelief right now. I don't get how the entire Maple tree doesn't have both atrocity and machine god in their arsenal.
Might be wrong but I remember reading a comment about how machine god actually sacrifices your gear, being stronger depending on how good the gear was but since Maple gear auto repairs and gets stronger whenever it does it's just means machine god and her unique gear are a perfect match
That's not specific to Maple, I think. All "unique series" type armor have that attribute if I remember correctly. I don't think the bonk twins and kanade have them, but I'm fairy sure the rest does. Chrome's is even indestructable.
Ya, maple is the only one thus far that we know of whose gear get destroyed and reform to be stronger each time which synergize really well with machine god and cause that to scale up.
Other wise, Atrocity and Machine god are kinda shit skill that is more of a desperation move, Atrocity turns you big and now u get to be a bigger target while Machine god just sacrifices your gear, imagine u have a Unique or Legendary or even a Myth gear and u sacrifice that ? God damn, that would be months of effort gone away unless u somehow have a dupe.
All unique gears are indestructible but maple has another passive which strengthens the gear Everytime it gets destroyed...
Indestructible here more refers to how the item(s) don't just vanish into nothingness if reduced to 0 health
Well truth be told we aren't sure what other gear has that attribute. So it is possible that Maple just got really really lucky in getting the perfect matching gear and talent.
I think the devs are more focused on creating an interesting world, with lots of unique interactions and experiences. They are clearly really good at that part, so it's understandable that they wouldn't be so great at creating a tightly balanced combat system, but I don't think that was ever their intention.

I mean, as soon as they turned on PvP for the event, they should have known whats going to happen...
Bofuri COMBINED with credible therapy has been a godsend....not saying it cures depression but it sure as hell armors you and gives you bonuses to resist it on bad days(this and D4DJ have been just so fun and enjoyably soothing and makes me like myself for enjoying them)

This feels like a pretty good summary of the anime in one picture. Maple doing something ludicrous and people reacting with disbelief.

Dread was actually quite competent there. I don't know how he realized that it wasn't Kanade, before dismissing the thoughts, but he was close to the truth. Not surprising coming from one of the top players.

And similar to the above, Sally was focusing on watching Mii and Payne's duel while hiding, at least until Maple joined and she just showed herself. Those swashbucklers are scary.
They should just make an event where whoever does the most damage to Maple wins.
\[edit\] I think people are misunderstanding my idea. My idea is that people compete to see who can do the most damage to her, not beat her. Also, each person's damage would be count separately. Mii and Payne teaming up would each only count as the damage they specifically did.
But according to the description of that kind of Event. It would be the type of event where the Boss monster has Practically Infinite HP, to test the waters of the damage threshold everyone is capable of reaching.
Realistically speaking, if both Mii's and Payne's clans join together in an all out assault against Maple alone, without any assistance from the rest of the Maple Tree members, I don't think she stand a chance.
Remember that they have to basically kill her twice, dealing at least a thousand damage (atrocity form) through her absolutely insane defense stat of 10k+. For reference, Mai and Yui have STR of less than 1000, despite only putting points into STR.
Payne probably has more STR than them, but it cant be that much higher.
And Payne lost last time when he had an environment advantage, because Maple couldn't fly around using Machine God inside the cave.
Machine God Maple has *already* has soloed Flame Emperors, and Atrocity Maple already beat Payne's guild. Sure, theyve gotten stronger, but so has Maple.
I was rewatching the last episode and realized just how obviously the evolution event was tailored specifically to Maple and Sally.
So, the event was unlocked by Maple activating wooly and playing with some sheep. Sheep which took her directly to the event. Something that she obviously would do, and only she would do.
The second clue to the event was a diving/swimming section, which is Sally's specialty.
It involved knowledge from the library which only Kanade could solve, and could solve easily. Again, geared toward Maple's Tree.
The second key was guarded by a variation of the exact same monster Sally & Maple fought to unlock Oboro & Syrup in the first place. Again, mimicing their previous battle.
The final key was guarded by a knockback monster which, again, is kind of tailored to fighting Maple.
All on top of the fact that no one else could evolve their monsters any time soon anyways. The entire event was basically built for Maple & Sally. Likely to thank them for play testing the monsters in the first place, and also to make up for the fact that they couldn't get any new monsters of their own on the new level.
It could also be that evolution key guardians and events are tailored according to you and your pet.
Maybe we would see the twins fighting that tree again, or Chrom fighting those pirates to evolve their pets.
That part where the player complained about imbalance, when it turns out it's because Maple guild's after all lol!
- Maple with her death trap. I can see how people would be attracted by the monster number surrounding Maple, but got accidentally killed from her rampage. Most of her skills are AoE.
- Iz with her invisible mine.
- Kasumi with her haku paralyze trap.
I guess the other members are doing the event pretty normally though. However, I can see how the weaker player would have a hard time surviving the event.

I think those players were complaining the devs put in a giant crocodile that shoots lasers from its mouth chasing things in the event.
Man, I love Syrup. Looks like Maples been grinding to level the big fella up. All the monster families are really cute! I especially like Wen’s little hat. It was hilarious how all the monsters started to flee from Maple during the prelims. Making all the monsters flee from her is perfect. She’s the real monster after all lol. That plant is perfect for Maple to just grind monsters.
Tsukimi and Yukimi remind me of the bears from Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, they’re so cute! Iz just bombing the hell out of their forest is certainly one way to rack up kills. The girls thought Maple might need help, but it turns out she’s just at an all-you-can-eat monster buffet lol.
Mii and Payne were having a serious duel and then Maple shows up in a giant wool ball inside the mouth of a croc monster she’s seemingly controlling and just firing off lasers lol. The little goofball totally killed the mood! Gotta love Maple, man. Girl is so damn OP the event was kind of a bust lol.

I thought I was the only one, every time I see those bears I think how cool would it be that Yuna show up out of the blue riding her two bears as well.
Meanwhile, I have been thinking of how fun it would be if there was mass-crossver video game featuring characters from various Shōsetsuka ni Narō titles that include crossover conversations involving characters with similar traits (or have it inspired by similar events in their respective stories), with one of said conversations featuring Mai and Yui asking for some bear training help from Yuna.

Whenever they're on screen it does feel like an early preview to season 2 of Kuma Kuma Kuma bear.
This is the perfect example of why I fell in love with Bofuri in the first place, New event, Maple riding a giant alligator from his mouth, while engulfed in wool, shooting lasers and making it do a barrel roll.
Just perfect.

Same here. I started because the concept was interesting and I heard some good things, but I stayed for all of the shenanigans that Maple and Maple Tree get up to. Maple riding the giant alligator has to be one of my top Maple moments in the series so far. She's done so many ridiculous things but I think it was probably the most absurd and unexpected. Especially with how she interrupted Mii vs Payne
For once Maple remembers to not just willy-nilly spill the beans.
A hawk with a little hat is a great pet. The cat is great too, he properly matches Misery's color scheme.
"I won't do anything weird" says Maple as she waves her tentacles around.
Only the person who gets the final hit getting the points is one of those things that sounds good on paper but works out terribly in an actual MMO. It does nothing but screw over people who play support which in turn would push people away from doing so. But then again, that rule in a one-time event only is probably harmless.
I assume the bonk twins must have also picked up the skill to increase the size of their pets.
Everything running away from Maple in terror feels like something that should just happen normally, not as a result of a debuff. And running towards her to attack is something they should never do.
The pets really do cover for a lot of gaps in player abilities.
Pretty much everyone took the embiggen skill, didn't they. Maple and Sally spent so much time demonstrating to everybody how useful it was.
That was a nice fight between Payne and Mii.
There are no words for that alligator Maple combo move.
It's really hilarious that the entire player base saw Maple visible on the map and just knew not to volunteer for death.

Megamorph is **NOT** a skill that players use to make their summons bigger. It's an ability that some summons (i.e. those that could be used as a mount) can learn after leveling up.

Anyways, a new event means new silly bullshit for Maple and friends to do. Monster slaying, PvP, surprise buffs and debuffs after kills, kaiju battles between players' tame monsters, and this is just the preliminary event to see where they qualify for the main event. Maple going full ROAD ROLLER DA on a swarm of monsters and driving an alligator like a tank were definitely the highlights of the episode for me, but Iz bombing an entire forest with magic landmines and the epic battle between Mii and Payne were pretty fun too. Plus, after what we saw of [the fan reception to the event](https://i.imgur.com/qGVvnQW.png) and [the cheap Bethesda interns' response to them](https://i.imgur.com/xxon3tH.png), my whole "the game is generated by an AI and the aforementioned cheap Bethesda interns are just QA but they're bad at it" theory is looking pretty good.
Payne and Mii : Having a serious fight like serious gamers.
Maple : Wandering around as a fur ball wedged in a giant alligator mouth, shooting lasers at random.
Payne and Mii : After seeing THAT, we don’t feel like fighting anymore, so let’s just go home. At that point, we are not even playing the same game as her.
Maple antics are no longer giving headaches only to the developers, but also to the other top players, I see.

Everyone is playing WoW meets New World, while Maple is playing Saints row 4 meets Disgaea.

And so the eight event begins, this game has so many events so frequently, I've never experienced an MMO like that either. Most fantasy thing of this series. But first, cute level up montage.
How nice, a large swarm of monsters heading to Maple, RIP to them lol. Fun to see the rest of the guild flaunt their might in the series. I will never not laugh at Maplezilla/Eldritch Horror Maple and people's reactions to her. Oh hey, Maple got eaten for once, maybe. And fun, two other guild leaders fighting and their pokemon battle. What an entrance Maple. I love her and her silly ways. In a way, she now has two pets. Good for their guild, all passing. I like Syrup on the table, being all cute.

I know it's a bit unrealistic and I agree with you, but I do really think it's cool how they're all friends and ultimately they all just want to have fun with each other. It's fun having a series where no one hates each other
I was describing this show to a friend the other day and used the common joke about Maple being a war crime, and upon seeing the killing fields she set up, I feel like that has never been more accurate.

It's nice to see how much fun Maple has goofing around. And I was surprised by ~~Kanade~~ Kasumi the Yuri Slayer; I thought she was gonna save them from the monster, but *she* is the monster.
I'm kinda disappointed we didn't see a breakdown of who killed the most monsters. I mean, I assume it's Maple, but I'm curious how many more she killed vs. everyone else.
Maple is really smart, since she moves slowly and can't keep up with monsters, she brilliantly uses the trap to lure monsters to her.
Also, Payne and Mii are having a serious 1-on-1, then Maple crashes the fight in the most goofy way. lol

It was great how Mii and Payne saw Maple and then looked like they weren't playing the game to it's fullest.
Remember how last episode the devs specifically said to be careful about giving monsters insides, because Maple will jump right in? Someone didn't listen, so Maple jumped right in.

I can confidently say that was something I did not see coming at all. I mean I know Maple gets a little wild and things can get pretty absurd and silly, but that was like a whole other level lol. Love that goofball!

I remember a comment in season 1's discussions that said that Maple is uncounterable because you can't counter something you didn't think of. Payne hits like a dark souls boss is predictable, Miicovers everything in fire is predictable, but Maple's fuck you, I turned a monster into my vehicle so I can do drive by shootings is so out of left field you don't even know what's happening before you die. In other news, turns out taunt traps are terrible against maple because she just farms it for points. whoops.
Seriously. You take your eyes off of her for five minutes and she either has just gotten five new abilities that are insanely overpowered through some absurd means, or she found some way to take advantage of the system that absolutely no one but her would've managed. In this case, they took their eyes off of her and she managed to turn the alligator into a vehicle and she was able to shoot lasers out of its mouth. It's insane what she does, and barely any of it is even on purpose.

Suspicious looking flower emits pollen that attracts monsters when you whack it. Maple: It's free real estate. If we're gonna see Chrom transform into Ceruledge, we need that transformation sequence with that montage music. I can't decide what Pokémon Iz's is supposed to be. They laid down a shit ton of entry hazards that practically killed anybody that simply enters the battlefield. Like Stealth Rock + Spikes + Poison Spikes. Foretress maybe? The devs didn't put a stomach on the crocodile but they forget Maple is now a tentacle alien monster so she can possibly possess and control a monster. The funniest part about it is Mii and Payne were having an epic battle but Maple's random appearance just totally killed the mood.

I can imagine some players walking in the direction that Maple's in, then they suddenly see her pop up on their map, and they instantly start running the other way. You'd need to make sure you're super far away to avoid any of Maple's shenanigans, and even then, Mii and Payne were still interrupted by her.

The developers should have seen that one coming. When the task is to kill as many monsters as possible, just the trap that draws in monsters is a huge advantage.
Did I catch it right that *not dying* also gave a bonus? Might as well just seed Maple into the second round at that point. This was clearly a battle for #2.
They were on the right track with giving Maple the debuff that made monsters run away. Even if you don't die, you can't rank high if you are too slow to catch anything. But they F'd up with the pollen trap. Even if it was made to overwhelm players like Payne or Mii, they should've figured Maple would just abuse it.
Yeah, that was actually a smart debuff. She could've still easily get a ride with Sally though in order to help catch them, though. But it was still a step in the right direction, but then they immediately reverse it by leading every monster right to her. Guess they didn't intend on her getting both, but at this point, there's absolutely nothing that's impossible for Maple to pull off
If I were to guess, maybe that cloud that taunts monsters is also poisonous (because it's purple?), and since Maple had poison resist she could use this cloud?
It's a Fairy/Fay or Spirit type it seems - it's like a Klefki. It's a utility monster.
My sympathies to the game devs, game balance is hard, especially when the game is that big. I can't get over the damned tentacles, more than that I can't get over that Maple LIKES them. She constantly has them out and treats it like the best thing ever, I want a fraction of her ability to be entertained by EVERYTHING.
It’s also hard when you have someone like Maple just wrecking shit. She’s so damn OP, she’s throwing off the balance of the whole game and nothing these devs do seems to work lol.
Maple’s exploration luck is just too impeccable, you can’t really design a counter to that what seems to work are the pets, which is probably the devs passively buffing everyone’s power level and the “no-stomach” monsters. Goddamn they nerfed the shit out of Maple

And since Maple's unbalance isn't actually that harmful (presumably Maple Tree is still at the level of Flame Emperors and Holy Swords, although the new event will update that leaderboard), they don't have many reasons to adjust their designs for her. In fact, I'm starting to believe that they're having fun. They seem to design encounters that are balanced but also have that one gimmick that Maple will be to find a way to overcome, and they love watching her do that.
Just make her the last boss and shove the entire game server on her.
Plus, at this point, Maple has so many different abilities that it is hard to nerf her. Taking away 1 of her numerous OP abilities won't diminish her that much. But, the nerfing process might cripple another player's build.

Agreed. Maple is truly one with the moment and grateful for all the good in her life. She reminds me of Gol D. Roger. That being said, it's honestly not that hard to train yourself to do. If ya get too caught up in thoughts you can't see how damn amusing everything really is. LSD in my 20s opened my eyes to enjoying the utter absurdity that goes into each moment.
Knowing her, Maple probably just thinks those tentacles are cute. Although from a practical point of view, having six arms/appendages instead of just two is quite useful.
It'll be funny to see her "try and use them" IRL though. Like that one dodgeball scene.
Not super relevant, but I wish we had some more IRL stuff. But I did really love the scenes where Maple was accidentally doing game stuff in her classes, so it'd be cool to get some more of that

The problem is that the devs are hidding rare stuff as an exploration reward and characters have unlimited skill slots. IRL that would get everyone to a wiki and within 5 minutes having every single ability.
the biggest "fantasy" in this anime is not how magical and amazing the immersion is, is how there arent 20 wikis that detail how to get every item and tables for drop chance and interactions
There was a quick mention in the past that Maple's build is not possible anymore since a couple small abilities she got right at the start were patched to have different acquisition triggers. Honestly this is all that is holding my suspension of disbelief right now. I don't get how the entire Maple tree doesn't have both atrocity and machine god in their arsenal.
Might be wrong but I remember reading a comment about how machine god actually sacrifices your gear, being stronger depending on how good the gear was but since Maple gear auto repairs and gets stronger whenever it does it's just means machine god and her unique gear are a perfect match
That's not specific to Maple, I think. All "unique series" type armor have that attribute if I remember correctly. I don't think the bonk twins and kanade have them, but I'm fairy sure the rest does. Chrome's is even indestructable.
IIRC, all unique series are indestructible, but Maple's is the only one that gets stronger the more damage it has taken
Ya, maple is the only one thus far that we know of whose gear get destroyed and reform to be stronger each time which synergize really well with machine god and cause that to scale up. Other wise, Atrocity and Machine god are kinda shit skill that is more of a desperation move, Atrocity turns you big and now u get to be a bigger target while Machine god just sacrifices your gear, imagine u have a Unique or Legendary or even a Myth gear and u sacrifice that ? God damn, that would be months of effort gone away unless u somehow have a dupe.
All unique gears are indestructible but maple has another passive which strengthens the gear Everytime it gets destroyed... Indestructible here more refers to how the item(s) don't just vanish into nothingness if reduced to 0 health
Well truth be told we aren't sure what other gear has that attribute. So it is possible that Maple just got really really lucky in getting the perfect matching gear and talent.
I think the devs are more focused on creating an interesting world, with lots of unique interactions and experiences. They are clearly really good at that part, so it's understandable that they wouldn't be so great at creating a tightly balanced combat system, but I don't think that was ever their intention.

Maple finally turns into a world boss, to no one's surprise.
They should just make an event where whoever does the most damage to Maple wins. \[edit\] I think people are misunderstanding my idea. My idea is that people compete to see who can do the most damage to her, not beat her. Also, each person's damage would be count separately. Mii and Payne teaming up would each only count as the damage they specifically did.
The eventual winner: the terrain.
Payne can do it but Maple doesn't have the HP to sustain much that pierces her defenses.
Yet. With her luck a new form that negates piercing is around the corner.
But according to the description of that kind of Event. It would be the type of event where the Boss monster has Practically Infinite HP, to test the waters of the damage threshold everyone is capable of reaching.
Realistically speaking, if both Mii's and Payne's clans join together in an all out assault against Maple alone, without any assistance from the rest of the Maple Tree members, I don't think she stand a chance.

Absolutely, that's what I was talking about, the sole thought of Maple losing is ridiculous.
Remember that they have to basically kill her twice, dealing at least a thousand damage (atrocity form) through her absolutely insane defense stat of 10k+. For reference, Mai and Yui have STR of less than 1000, despite only putting points into STR. Payne probably has more STR than them, but it cant be that much higher. And Payne lost last time when he had an environment advantage, because Maple couldn't fly around using Machine God inside the cave. Machine God Maple has *already* has soloed Flame Emperors, and Atrocity Maple already beat Payne's guild. Sure, theyve gotten stronger, but so has Maple.
Why would they make an event where everyone loses?
The Devs need to find some way to beat maple and they decided to crowd source this to the players.
I was rewatching the last episode and realized just how obviously the evolution event was tailored specifically to Maple and Sally. So, the event was unlocked by Maple activating wooly and playing with some sheep. Sheep which took her directly to the event. Something that she obviously would do, and only she would do. The second clue to the event was a diving/swimming section, which is Sally's specialty. It involved knowledge from the library which only Kanade could solve, and could solve easily. Again, geared toward Maple's Tree. The second key was guarded by a variation of the exact same monster Sally & Maple fought to unlock Oboro & Syrup in the first place. Again, mimicing their previous battle. The final key was guarded by a knockback monster which, again, is kind of tailored to fighting Maple. All on top of the fact that no one else could evolve their monsters any time soon anyways. The entire event was basically built for Maple & Sally. Likely to thank them for play testing the monsters in the first place, and also to make up for the fact that they couldn't get any new monsters of their own on the new level.
If I didn't know better I'd say Maple put all her stat points into luck, not vitality.
Maybe she spec'd her stats IRL to LUK, while putting all her stats in-game to VIT?
It could also be that evolution key guardians and events are tailored according to you and your pet. Maybe we would see the twins fighting that tree again, or Chrom fighting those pirates to evolve their pets.

Man, I love Syrup. Looks like Maples been grinding to level the big fella up. All the monster families are really cute! I especially like Wen’s little hat. It was hilarious how all the monsters started to flee from Maple during the prelims. Making all the monsters flee from her is perfect. She’s the real monster after all lol. That plant is perfect for Maple to just grind monsters. Tsukimi and Yukimi remind me of the bears from Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, they’re so cute! Iz just bombing the hell out of their forest is certainly one way to rack up kills. The girls thought Maple might need help, but it turns out she’s just at an all-you-can-eat monster buffet lol. Mii and Payne were having a serious duel and then Maple shows up in a giant wool ball inside the mouth of a croc monster she’s seemingly controlling and just firing off lasers lol. Meanwhile, I have been thinking of how fun it would be if there was mass-crossver video game featuring characters from various Shōsetsuka ni Narō titles that include crossover conversations involving characters with similar traits (or have it inspired by similar events in their respective stories), with one of said conversations featuring Mai and Yui asking for some bear training help from Yuna.

This is the perfect example of why I fell in love with Bofuri in the first place, New event, Maple riding a giant alligator from his mouth, while engulfed in wool, shooting lasers and making it do a barrel roll. Just perfect. Btw, I love Mii when she talks with her real voice.

For once Maple remembers to not just willy-nilly spill the beans. A hawk with a little hat is a great pet. The cat is great too, he properly matches Misery's color scheme. "I won't do anything weird" says Maple as she waves her tentacles around. Only the person who gets the final hit getting the points is one of those things that sounds good on paper but works out terribly in an actual MMO. It does nothing but screw over people who play support which in turn would push people away from doing so. But then again, that rule in a one-time event only is probably harmless. I assume the bonk twins must have also picked up the skill to increase the size of their pets. Everything running away from Maple in terror feels like something that should just happen normally, not as a result of a debuff. And running towards her to attack is something they should never do. The pets really do cover for a lot of gaps in player abilities. Pretty much everyone took the embiggen skill, didn't they. Maple and Sally spent so much time demonstrating to everybody how useful it was. That was a nice fight between Payne and Mii. There are no words for that alligator Maple combo move. It's really hilarious that the entire player base saw Maple visible on the map and just knew not to volunteer for death.

It's an ability that some summons (i.e. those that could be used as a mount) can learn after leveling up.

Monster slaying, PvP, surprise buffs and debuffs after kills, kaiju battles between players' tame monsters, and this is just the preliminary event to see where they qualify for the main event. Maple going full ROAD ROLLER DA on a swarm of monsters and driving an alligator like a tank were definitely the highlights of the episode for me, but Iz bombing an entire forest with magic landmines and the epic battle between Mii and Payne were pretty fun too. Plus, after what we saw of [the fan reception to the event](https://i.imgur.com/qGVvnQW.png) and [the cheap Bethesda interns' response to them](https://i.imgur.com/xxon3tH.png), my whole "the game is generated by an AI and the aforementioned cheap Bethesda interns are just QA but they're bad at it" theory is looking pretty good.

Payne and Mii : After seeing THAT, we don’t feel like fighting anymore, so let’s just go home. At that point, we are not even playing the same game as her. Maple antics are no longer giving headaches only to the developers, but also to the other top players, I see.

Maples spell is the ability to make the turtle fly not the megamorph... Megamorph is skill learned by the turtle... The stomach are supposed to be death traps for slow tanks as explained back then in season 1 hydra boss...

Megamorph is a skill that the summons learn, not the players themselves.
The fighting inside a monster stomach is not that new. The Leviathan from Devil May Cry 3 is a perfect example.
Nice to see those 2 sisters Sally defeated during the 2nd event are still around (only to be defeated by Kasumi in a similar manner)

lol I like her just leaving her tentacles out. They sure are taking that fine. They are also sure nice to show their tamed monster off to Maple. These are not the kinda competitive MMO players I know lol. You know, she still cute af with the tentacles. And so the eight event begins, this game has so many events so frequently, I've never experienced an MMO like that either. Most fantasy thing of this series. But first, cute level up montage. How nice, a large swarm of monsters heading to Maple, RIP to them lol. Fun to see the rest of the guild flaunt their might in the series. I will never not laugh at Maplezilla/Eldritch Horror Maple and people's reactions to her. Oh hey, Maple got eaten for once, maybe. And fun, two other guild leaders fighting and their pokemon battle. What an entrance Maple. I love her and her silly ways. In a way, she now has two pets. Good for their guild, all passing. I like Syrup on the table, being all cute.

I was describing this show to a friend the other day and used the common joke about Maple being a war crime, and upon seeing the killing fields she set up, I feel like that has never been more accurate.

I loved this show. Maple is amazing, she pits such a huge fucking smile on my face.
I'm kinda disappointed we didn't see a breakdown of who killed the most monsters. I mean, I assume it's Maple, but I'm curious how many more she killed vs. everyone else.
Maple is really smart, since she moves slowly and can't keep up with monsters, she brilliantly uses the trap to lure monsters to her. Also, Payne and Mii are having a serious 1-on-1, then Maple crashes the fight in the most goofy way. lol
