Regina is not gonna get any work done at this rate.

Quick_Championship16

What is Regina mean? I Ask.

Party-Cranberry-9325

Regina is Marcy’s canon middle name.

lucasnarita

Marcy's middle name has been revealed to be Regina Her full name is Marcy Regina Wu

omg-marcywu-dead

Halfawannabe

Also means Queen. Not really relevant but you asked.

reisolate

And the capital of Saskatchewan, which is what us Canadians know it for.

Yeety_Mcyeet_face

I thought that was pronounced differently

reisolate

It’s the same word, named in honour of Queen Victoria.

Quick_Championship16

And Thank You for Ruined everything!

Halfawannabe

Remote-Ad-3309

I wonder what Sasha's middle name is?

WE1RD0_W0RLD

Don’t trust me but I heard from someone that it might be Alexandra I’m not 100% sure so don’t rely on me

AquaAquila24

Sasha is a short version of Alexandra's name so absolutely not unless her name is Alexandra Alexandra Waybright, which is just dumb. There are popular headcanons of her being either Brunhilde or Elizabeth. I honestly prefer Brunhilde.

Astral_Fogduke

...Sasha is short for Alexandra? First time hearing that.

AquaAquila24

It can be used as a short for both Alexander and Alexandra. It originated from Russia

AilanMoone

It's Russian. In Russian they use "-sha" affectionately. Alexander - Aah-lick-san-durr Alexandra- Aah-lick-san-druhh Becomes "Aah-lick-sah-sha", Alexasha, Alec-Sasha, Sasha. In English, we'd use "-dy", so the names would become Alexandy and become Andy for short. Edit: extra clarification

TaisDoubt

can you rationalize to me then... why do Stefan's get called "Chefo"?

AilanMoone

It goes back to Greek. >“Stéfanos / Stéphanos (Στέφανος)”, meaning "crown, garland, wreath, honor, reward, any prize or honour", which in turn derives from “stéphō ‎(στέφω)”, meaning “to put round, to surround” They came from the same word. Stéphō became Stéfanos / Stéphanos, which became Stefan/ Stephen. If you switch the "s" with a "c" it becomes "Chepho" which got corrupted in to Chefo. Source: [Name Doctor](https://m.name-doctor.com/Chefo/)

TaisDoubt

well that is interesting. Currently i am not wondering about any others names really. I find it weird how Nikola and Nikol are switched from the usual formula of female names ending with an "a" but i think it comes from Greece too, from Nikolaos specifically.

AilanMoone

Indeed, that _is_ different.

AilanMoone

Any other names you wanna know about?

Lil_Dino546

It isn't dumb, is cool i would love to be called "Alexandra Alexandra Waybright", or any other name that just repeat it self

AquaAquila24

you do you, but I doubt Sasha herself would appreciate that. Kind of defeats the whole purpose of middle name.

Gilpif

What even is the purpose of a middle name? I’m not from an anglophone country, and I still don’t understand them.

AquaAquila24

Middle names serve much the same purposes they always have: they're a way to keep family names going and thus preserve relationships; they're a way to try something new or “put old names out to grass” without cutting the cord entirely.

AilanMoone

It could be used for emphasis. She gets in trouble in her first name gets said twice.

WE1RD0_W0RLD

If her middle name is Bruhilde I can understand why Sasha did the things she did in season 1 and 2

AquaAquila24

XD

Da1NOnlyTargetstrike

wait Sasha is short for Alexandra? I have a friend named Sasha whose name is short for Alexandra, and I never put two and two together

AquaAquila24

It is, or at least it originated like that, though some people might just be Sasha, but most of the time it's either Alexander or Alexandra.

theembodimentoffat

I've heard of Brunhilde too. Apparently it's a German word for "warrior"? That would really fit Sasha.

AquaAquila24

It's a very old German word for "ready to war", so it fits Sasha's Twitter account XD.

theembodimentoffat

Nice.

TaisDoubt

elizabeth kind of does not make sense... Both German and Slavs (since it really is not specified country exactly) have different traditions and ways of changing the middle name. Now i do not remember very good how the German way was (for sure simpler and closer to the english but still had some rules i think) but i slav's middle names are usually formulated by the father's name. if your father's name is "Ivan" your middle name would be "ivanov" (for a boy) or "ivanova" (for a girl). Depending on the country people may use your middle name to refer to you in different levels of formality. As far as i know Russian's specifically often use any of the three names when refering to someone. The third one, of course being the more formal one which you would use towards your boss, a random stranger or really anyone who you do not know good enough. Sasha's middle name being Elizabeth just... does not make sense in the way names work for both Germans and Slavs.

AquaAquila24

This name came from TV Tropes so some fans might confuse it for the official one (my friend did), but then again, Brunhilde came when someone tried to edit both Wiki and Wikipedia once and neither name had any actual source. But indeed, Elizabeth sounds like Sasha was actually British instead of German-Slavic (I'm Polish Silesian so it's as German-Slavic as you can get somewhat)

DolphZigglio

The only answer she's ever given is "The last thing you'll ever say."

AquaAquila24

Brunhilde\~

TheLastEmuHunter

u/AquaAquila24, please respond if you are alive.

AquaAquila24

💀

et-ATK

Huh.

AquaAquila24

(read the entire thread)

et-ATK

I said huh because you responded (meaning you were alive) to say that you were not alive

AquaAquila24

(It was a skull meaning I died, you ruined the joke)

et-ATK

I know. I responded huh as a statement.

Chicca_the_Chicken

The middle name didn't persuade her, it's the cuddling that's the deciding factor

ascendocatto

tbh whenever i hear it i just hear doug lawrence going "look, regina, enough with the bullsh*t" (you can go to a "spongebob voice actors cursing" compilation for context)

RelanTheGuy

*I understood that reference*

et-ATK

*I understood that reference*

HamilWhoTangled

All I can think of is Regina George from Mean Girls. The stage musical version, in particular. *My name is Regina George, and I am a massive deaaallll-*

Aptremi
