You’re literally so gorgeous

Georgia_peach7

Thank you so much 🥺

metswon2

Yea, i'll second this.

G0ldenyell0w

Did your skin purge?

Georgia_peach7

Yes it did. It happened in the second and third weeks and calmed down in the fourth. You just gotta stick it out. I’m glad I did because now I don’t break out at all.

G0ldenyell0w

Thank u. Did u use Differin every night ? Ps: Also did you use Differin only on the affected areas or all over the face?

Georgia_peach7

Yes. I used it every night. This is probably why I had some purging. I’m just impatient with results haha. So I preferred to have a decently rough purge for two weeks rather than having mildly irritated skin for a longer period of time. Some people do it every couple of nights, but I just wanted my skin to adjust quickly. If your skin is getting irritated, a lot of people use a method called the sandwich method. You apply moisturizer first and then let it sink in before applying differin. Then you wait for that to sink in and follow up with another round of moisturizer. So you have some options. 1. Just throw yourself into using it every night and trust the process. Probably experience a rougher purge but your skin will experience the benefits faster. This is what I did. 2. Slowly introduce differin into your routine, using it every couple of nights. Maybe this will reduce purging but it will take longer for your skin to get used to it and reap the benefits. 3. Use it every night but use the sandwich method to reduce irritation. You might just have to play around with it and see what works for you.

and_a_side_of_fries

What is a purge

Georgia_peach7

When your skin is adjusting to active ingredients in a skincare product it can sometimes cause breakouts. This is because all the breakouts that are under the surface of the skin are brought up because exfoliants and retinol speed up the cycle of skin shedding dead cells so the acne gets worse before it gets better

samsohcool

did you use the sandwich method?

Georgia_peach7

No I didn’t. But if you try it and your skin gets really irritated you should try the sandwich method

QueenTitanium

I love this insight. I didn't want to use it every day because I was scared by everyone's testimonials. But it does make sense that its dragging out the process. Plus it's winter here on the east coast and I'm not going outside anyway. I may try and up to every night and just skip use on a night if I feel overly irritated. I'm a huge proponent of the sandwich method. I've been using this on my second try getting back into differin this year after taking a 3-4 month break and it's done wonders to prevent the intense flaking. I ended up taking a break because it was annoying experiencing the purging process for so long. Im gonna try upping my differin use and check back in. 1. Moisturizer 2. Differin 3. I put castor oil on my eyebrows and eyes (i have a dry eye problem) 4. Then put aquaphor or some other heavily moisturizing petroleum based cream around the mouth, lips, and forehead where i was getting extreme dryness previously. Pretty OD for most people but dry skin is not fun.

Georgia_peach7

Oh I just reread this. You’re supposed to use differin all over the face. It’s not supposed to be used as a spot treatment. Even if you don’t breakout everywhere you use it on the entire face

Slycat2209

What a glow up! I am so happy for you! Congrats! 🎉 I've been using Differin gel for a week now at night + washing my face with benzoyl peroxide cleanser in the morning as I do get cystic acne sometimes but mostly whiteheads. Hopefully I'll see an improvement soon.

Cass_attack7

I’m starting to do the same! But this morning I woke up, washed my face and was then faced with extremely irritated skin: red, dry, itchy, and felt like my whole face was burning when I applied creams. Do you have any recommendations on how to keep it clam after washing off the Differin?

Slycat2209

Hi, so I've been starting off using using Differin once a week and using the sandwich method which is applying moisturizer after cleansing at night, adapelene/Differin, and then layering another moisturizer over Differin after 15 min or so to prevent irritation. My skin has been purging I get tiny whiteheads and pimples around my chin where I usually don't get them. I plan to up the usage every week until my skin gets used to the product for every day use since my skin is particularly sensitive. Burning means your skin barrier could be compromised. I recommend a hydrating toner or moisturizers that are fragrance free, contain either niacinimade 2-4%, oatmeal, and centella asiatica. These 3 ingredients help calm down skin irritation/redness. Also cutting out excessive exfoliation unless a derm said to use a chemical exfoliant in the mornings can also help. Sorry for making this kinda long hope this helps you <3

Cass_attack7

Thank you so much for this!! All good for the long comment, I appreciate you taking the time to write this and share your experience and passing on some great advice :) I think I need to look for a new moisturizer, so I’ll take your recommendation and hope some Black Friday deals will help me find the perfect one 🙌

Slycat2209

Of course no problem! Glad to help! Hope you're able to find a good moisturizer! ☺

DisneysTheOwlHouse

Differing gel makes my face peel should I keep using or stop when it is peeling?

Georgia_peach7

Also, I responded to someone else earlier in this thread that some people use the sandwich method. Put moisturizer on and let it sink in before using the differin gel. And then 10 minutes after the differin gel, follow up with another layer of moisturizer.

DisneysTheOwlHouse

Thank you 😊

Alarming_Thought_403

You should use a think balm or an occlusive. I personally like using the aquaphor balm. It keeps my skin moisturized and helps a lot when I get dry skin. That’s why I used when I started and I also switched to a gentle cleanser. Hope this helps you!!

Alarming_Thought_403

I meant thick lol sorry

DisneysTheOwlHouse

Thank you I will try this!!

marufissexy

Woww, you look stunning. I purchased differin earlier today and just used it a couple minutes ago. Hopped on reddit and boom I run across your post. My skin right now looks exactly like yours on the left, and the fact that maybe I can achieve similar results in a month is so uplifting. Thank you so much for sharing your progress and giving me faith.

dearestnee

You're glowinggg! Does it help with scars?

noeatdick

stop,you're prettyyyy af

WaifuCoco

you’re so pretty omgggg 🥺 But I know this is about differin but literally this makes me want to apply my tret every night then. I’m up to 3 times a week with literally ZERO irritation. I only wash my face in the am when I use tret. But I do like to do a morning ice roller massage and rice toner. 🙄

Georgia_peach7

Hi! I didn’t use roaccutane. I used an over the counter retinol product called differin gel. It’s a 0.1% adapalene treatment. You can find it at most drug stores. No prescription necessary

Jer_ro

Oh, i see. I thought it was isotretinoin. Because they have similar ingredients i guess 🤷‍♀️

Admirable-Ad-6548

Which one ?

Georgia_peach7

The 0.1% adapalene gel. It comes in a pump. Here’s my routine as well if you wanted to know: 1. I wash my face with the inkey list’s oat cleansing balm. If I wear makeup (I rarely do), I’ll take it off with micellar water before using the inkey list cleanser. 2. I use the differin gel 3. I moisturize with first aid beauty ultra repair cream. I do this every night. I don’t wash my face or anything in the morning because that dries out the skin and is unnecessary for most people. I put on sunscreen every morning. I like the epionce ultra shield spf 50. It’s important to use sunscreen especially while using retinol like differin gel. Also, after working out, I just rinse off the sweat with water. The only time I wash my face is at night.

sofkha

This is a solid routine, I recently stopped washing my face in the AM too because my skin is dry/acne prone/sensitive.. would you say your’s is also dry? I’ve been thinking about buying inkey list’s cleansing balm too. You have a really gorgeous face btw! Great results 😻

Georgia_peach7

My skin was pretty normal and I didn’t break out that much. I started experiencing dry skin and breakouts when I went on birth control and that’s why I started differin. I had to change my routine because birth control changed my skin. But yeah, I’d say I lean towards the drier side now. It might also be because differin is quite drying. The inkey list oat cleansing balm is definitely good for dry/sensitive skin.

josh194491

So u leave the adapelene on ur face all night and all day cuz u arent washing ur face in the morning?

Georgia_peach7

I never thought of it that way, but yeah I guess. Although it’s definitely absorbed into the skin by morning so there’s really nothing to wash off. Plus differin makes the skin feel pretty dry so you probably won’t want to wash it more than once per day.

Admirable-Ad-6548

Thanks girl

bananaplaintiff

Love it!

Cass_attack7

This is really interesting advice! I would not have thought to keep the Differin on in the day. I legit had such a bad reaction to washing my face this morning… skin was really dry so I put some moisturizer on and then added the Benzagel Acne Gel, but about 20 minutes later it felt like my whole face was burning and it only got worse. Had to go have a shower and just let the water get off all the products. So would you recommend not washing your face in the morning? Did you have any bad reactions from keeping the Differin on all day/ night? I guess it would help speed up the purging and healing

sweetultraviolence

Virtual_Minute

On a side note you are STUNNING

sydundid

Great progress! Your skin looks great!

pinkrabbitunnie

hi! can i ask if you purge on the same area for multiple times? i've been using differin for quick some time now and my acnes keep popping up near my jaw/chin :( and how do you prevent acne scars/marks? thank youu <3

Georgia_peach7

Hi. I purged mostly in my t zone, which is where I break out normally. I feel like the pimples were spread throughout my t zone rather than being super concentrated in one spot. As for scarring, differin is supposed to help with that over time. I would recommend the good molecules brightening toner and their niacinamide serum as these have helped me in the past (before differin) but I don’t know if you should really incorporate more products when using differin. Also, it’s really important to wear sunscreen everyday as this also helps prevent scarring

pinkrabbitunnie

Thanks for this! How long did you use differin before it stops purging? 😅 I have hormonal acne so i'm sometimes confused if its because of purging or hormones xD

Yuiiski

Was you on Accutane before using differin?

PM_ME_heartwarmth

I legit just went and bought all the things you listed that you use. Here goes nothin! Lol

volleybow

Are you single
