I don't trust the .ru though

I understand where you're coming from, but it's been .ru since the beginning and there's never been any issue. Believe me when I say that if there was any issue with it you would hear of it. This website is probably one of the most used one among players. Also, there is no registration or items sold through the website, so no critical data is stored. Trust me, "Russia" has better things to do at the moment than stealing some browsing data from a bunch of Warhammer nerds. If you REALLY don't trust it, you can always just make a local copy of what you need, every now and then, but it pretty much goes against the idea of having easy access to always up-to-date rules, imho. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

The reason it's in Russia is that the courts there don't give a shit about copyright law meaning that it's one of the few places where a website like this can be hosted without legal trouble from GW

Due to the way 3D printing works you get a very uneve surface. It will essentially have hundreds of grooves between layers of filament. Resin printers will have less pronounced layers but they're still there. If you want an even paint job for a filament print like this (at least I'm assuming it's filament) you gotta sand it all down to even consistancy. Which will take lots of time.

Super important for cosplay making too. People always say "well the paint will hide it" they are always wrong. If you don't go through the effort you will absolutely regret it!

If you have the patience to do lower layer heights on a resin printer they're all but gone. Still there for real but just not visible other than a few spots. Cuts down the overall effort for a near perfect print. At least for larger stuff like cosplay (idk how well it would work for minis. Wouldn't wanna try it on infantry sized stuff but knights may be fine) some will just paint liquid resin over it and have it and cure it and that helps a lot as well.

Sandable automotive primer helps a lot with this.

I printed this on an ender 3 that i bought 2 weeks ago, i cant help any further though as i only got into 3d printing as well

Yeah, the ender 3 is like 200€ and i think i saw a video on yt explaining how you can get almost resin like quality with a filament printer

You definitely want one of the resin ones IMO - my setup was 150 bucks. With my first liter of resin I went ahead and printed 450$ of figures.

Whoa, how many hours/print sessions did this take? And did you use 100% infill?

I printed it in 6 sessions, in about 42 hours and i used 10% infill on everything except the upper body where i used 5%

Now you have to ask…. How many of those could you print for the cost of a single GW knight? On a side note, with a little 3D model work, you could improve that.

Well, the total cost of this one is around 5-6€, an official model is about 120€, everything unpainted of course

I guess the thing that annoys me is the idea that it doesn't matter if the model looks bad, it's just a gaming piece. Some of us actually like the hobby side of things and would rather have the real thing that looks nice over a cheap, bad-looking 3d print that's just there to act as a gaming token.
