What The Flap?!

achillesdaddy

Did that man just fly his goose across the street?

PunkToTheFuture

Well I just entered a strange realm of jealousy that I didn't think I had in me

lethalchip

This is in Old Town Orange, or "The Circle", in.. you guessed it Orange, California. This guy and his goose are a regular sight if you go there often. There's a grassy patch and a fountain at the center of the roundabout (just down the street from where this was recorded) which the goose likes to run around on.

bloxboy

Went to school here. Can confirm.

Lord_Master_Dorito

Saw them walk by while I was eating dinner there. Can confirm.

QuebecGamer2004

Ate the goose as dinner there. Can confirm

SuperJoe3022

Met the goose there. Can confirm

MrCrudley

Pottstown, PA there's a guy that walks a duck. I saw him walking his duck with a 12 pack of keystone light in the other hand.

potato_nest_69

I feel like this dude is high as a kite and just vibing on his way to drop off a few bags.

Desirai

I love this video

SuperSaiyanSkeletor

Totally don't belong here its wholesome as fuck

chantillylace9

I have a rescued pet duck named Ariel. She wears a diaper and tutu and walks on a leash like a good girl too. She has her own little mermaid themed room. Waterfowl can be amazing (but poopy) pets!

Desirai

That's precious. I have always wanted a pet house chicken to dreas up and take out on a leash. I don't think I could handle waterfowl... the way they get in the water and mud and stuff 😅😅

chantillylace9

It’s definitely a lot to handle, when we rescued her, she had botulism and was completely paralyzed and was not expected to make it. Everywhere wanted to euthanize her so we literally nursed her back to health and now she’s doing pretty good. She had to have some major surgery but she is alive and our little baby girl! She’s almost 2

Desirai

Awwwwww that's so sad she went through that. I'm glad you have taken care of her ❤️

chantillylace9

Thank you so much! It was definitely worth it (although her surgery cost two months of mortgage payments haha).

Desirai

oh I understand how that is. we took in a feral kitten last November with a growth in her skull and everyone said to just put her down. but we found a surgeon that worked with us on monthly payments and just finally paid her off last month. Now she is a terror and destroying my house looool

chantillylace9

I just kept asking myself if I would rather have restaurant dinners for the next year or save her or rather have coffees or save her or maybe we could give up a vacation, and all those answers came back that we would rather have her than those things. You can’t buy love, but sometimes you sure can use money to keep a beloved pet alive, so in that regard, you can buy love and happiness. And it’s always worth it.

Desirai

It is worth it. I will always choose my pet first, they rely on me to take care of them. ♥

the_dude_upvotes

You need to pay your cat taxes and show us pics/gifs/vids

erotic_sausage

all this and no pictures of Ariel in her themed room?

chantillylace9

https://ibb.co/PxwdmQ4 Here is her diaper! Let’s see if these work, this is her room! https://ibb.co/KbKkJcz https://ibb.co/9NbSvCk https://ibb.co/8rgKMMs https://ibb.co/x3zFjg9

"Oh yeah, that's just my emotional support goose!"

the_hell_you_say

What emotion could a goose possibly support? Anger?

uniqueusername5001

Unadulterated visceral rage

jonitfcfan

*Peace was never an option*

kindiana

Don't geese's support aggression?

SacredGeometry25

They especially support territorial hostility and assault

AlmanzoWilder

I took a gander and I agree.

jdbrew

I’ve actually seen this guy before. Orange circle, yeah?

lethalchip

Yes, he's there often.

Almonexger

But have you seen how goose hug people?? I’d start crying :c

dosko1panda

That's a chicken

BlueTickHoundog

I just re-watched the video. The driver got cut off saying "That's actually a chi"...cken. I take back my downvote. ;)

iordseyton

I think he's saying "that's legit" (imate )

Gilgamesh2062

Geese make good "guard dogs".

Swans are better.

Seems legit.

Optimal-Cry9929

Shouldn't there be a limit on what some people can, you know what never fucking mind.

2x4x93

A limit on limits

Brownie420

Yes, they are called laws

wolfgang784

In most areas it is indeed illegal to keep animals considered wild, like a goose, as pets. ( Or racoons, opossums, squirrels, etc) Unless you have exotic licenses and proper education/training ofc. In most of the areas where someone is likely to have a pet goose though nobody tends to give a shit about enforcing it either though. My grandma had a pet swan for example, but she lived in the middle of nowhere so it wasn't a problem. Poor thing got terribly injured somehow and 1 wing was just a skeleton of bone, no skin or muscle or feathers. iirc she had it for around 5 or 6 years. It greatly enjoyed the company of the Canadian geese that would come to the pond much of the year but since it couldn't fly it was alone in the winter. She built a pretty sick house for it though to survive the harsh winters here and the farm cats learned not to fuck with it eventually. Sometimes we would even find it sitting on a pile of kittens in it's house like they were chicks, all using each other to stay warm lol.

Rainstorme

So Geese are generally in a weirder spot because they're also considered domesticated. Like the goose in the video is most likely a domestic breed (Emden Goose) that originated from the Greylag Goose and is the main "livestock" version of Geese. A quick review of a state rule aggregator makes it look like the vast majority of states either expressly allow geese or allow geese as pets with a permit. That said, that doesn't really apply to native wild geese like the Canadian Goose which receive extra protection from the Migratory Bird Act.

wolfgang784

Interesting addition!

JRCIII

My grandpa was part of a fishing club (read drinking club that the owners of a restaurant were in on and they needed an excuse to clear out the kitchen at the end of the year), each year they do a Chinese auction. A Chinese auction for those unfamiliar with the phrase is where everyone brings something to auction off but it is either wrapped or covered, etc. so the people bidding have no idea what it is. As his contribution one year, Grandpa brought a live goose to be auctioned off.

kk074

Exgoose me?

KadahCoba

Welcome to small town socal.

Peace...is an option?

That man's just making a dream come true for a goose that couldn't fly

This guy ducks.

skeptibat

You've never seen a guy whip out his duck in public before?

whatevers1234

This is actually awesome. I used to work with a bunch of Macaws and they all had their wings clipped. So every morning I would run with them through the zoo from their holding area to where they hung out for the day and they’d just pretend to fly the whole way. They loved that shit.

vicebreaker

What in the duck?!

likeinsaaaaw

I mean... I want to like this but shouldn't that bird be free? I'm going to assume it's injured or something and is being rehabilitated.

Silver-Difficulty-13

Looks like he's getting in a right flap.

kinyutaka

I am just glad that no one ran the red, of his goose would be cooked.

IHC_304

I have seen him in Huntington Beach, i was like sure, why not? Man loves his bird.

gorditasimpatica

Man loves his bird so rather than set him free to fly on its own wherever it wants he needs to keep it tethered. There is something very wrong with that.

IHC_304

You must have never owned a pet.

gorditasimpatica

I have, and my pets choose to stay with me, without a leash.

IHC_304

Lol

maciejokk

Have you ever seen a dog

gorditasimpatica

yes... again, my dog stays with me, she likes me and knows she has a family and home I get it that people want to own birds. But in general, when given a choice, the escaped birds I've seen down here in FL, where they can survive outside, have chosen to stay free. If I could fly, I also would do that.

maciejokk

Do you let your dog run free on the busy street?

DarkLasombra

That's a domesticated goose, dude.

April_Fabb

This is neat, but nothing beats [Dali taking his anteater for a walk](https://preview.redd.it/tn7264wdmz621.jpg?auto=webp&s=395801190e57301e25aa7acdb55aa80c60114d96) in Paris.
