my mattress

SomberJack42

I was going to say Sealy Posturepedic.

NomenclatureBreaker

I mean that’s what a cold wallet is in the end - but worse - despite the fancy name & and a hefty dose of denial. At least my mattress won’t lock me out forever if I forget one password. 🤷🏻‍♀️

[deleted]

Ahh yes what un regulated casino to choose

mimmoon16

Never buying magical internet coins again after losing everything on voyager

Noartisan

Some lessons are learnt the hard way. Congrats on your awakening. Some ppl will convince you that crypto is the future, mainly because their interest and gains rely on keeping others in, and convincing them that it has value so they can cash out. It's a negative sum game. I find it truly bizarre, yet interesting to observe.

Former-Cod-2431

Smh... just keep them only on cold storage. Crypto isn't the disease its the cure, these bad exchanges are the cancer.

SpokenByMumbles

Why? Fundamentals shouldn’t have changed. Everyone has been preaching self custody since forever. This has been an expensive lesson for me too but if you believed in crypto before, losing coins you failed to protect shouldn’t change that.

rwoj

> Fundamentals shouldn’t have changed. exactly. there are no fundamentals that make any shitcoin worth investing in.

SpokenByMumbles

I feel like I’m talking to a bunch of bots here. Everyone seems to be upset that they lost their shitcoins on the exchange. Was nobody investing in BTC/ETH?

brotherRozo

Absolutely, people are confusing shady lending practices that’s infected pretty much the entire Defi spectrum With Ponzi schemes in general And I Champion the death of this over-inflated, over-leveraged, era of crypto, knowing it will be here for centuries in its fundamental form I have some money on Voyager in jail right now just like the rest of y’all, as well as some other exchanges that I know I’m at a risk to lose, but everything that gets sent to my soft or hard wallets, well I plan on having them for a while

[deleted]

ME_CPA

What fundamentals of a Ponzi scheme do feel have long term success? What has doing your own research taught you?

SpokenByMumbles

What I learned was don’t hold my crypto on exchanges. What projects were you investing in? If BTC, and you had it frozen because it was on an exchange, I’m sorry you lost it but that’s on you. Voyager’s failure should not impact fundamentals here.

definitelynotacopper

Define “research”. What “research” should we be doing that would count as due diligence?

ME_CPA

Idk basic stuff like taking the hour to read the actual user agreement you sign before handing a Ponzi scheme cash?

DeepReefSaver

Thanks for your input Mr FUD troll. Very helpful. Are you enjoying yourself? Maybe your comments say a lot more about you than us. A lot of us small, retail investors made a lot of money on Voyager and other exchanges. I regret nothing even if I am losing a couple Gs now, which is still not definite. Have fun missing the boat.

barsoapguy

The vast majority of participants in ~~Ponzi~~ ~~scheme~~ lose all their money . Some come out ahead but not many .

ProperStandard3

She is an idiot. She keeps talking nonsense and ignorant stupid crap. Says a lot about her.

DanceAlien

Hahahhaa

ME_CPA

You’re going to lose everything.

ProperStandard3

Stop misleading people and talking stupid ignorant crap. You are the one who did not read the actual user agreement based on your comments. You apparently here just to talk crap to make yourself feel better. Says a lot about you.

ME_CPA

Sorry huh what I can’t hear you over the sound of my atm spitting out my cash…

barsoapguy

Lord Soros would be proud .

ME_CPA

Praise be

thebrowneye3

If you believed in crypto before, and your beliefs were proven wrong, you shouldn't change your beliefs

pumpkinfarts23

Yeah, the fundamentals are just as stupidly terrible as they always were. You invested in a scam. Own it and stop hurting yourself.

F1XII

100% agree with you. My anti investing friends think im nuts for thinking to buy the dip at sub $17BTC after inflation and recession ruin us more. Lost 25% of networth in Voyager but thankfully kept some in Blockfi which is now in cold storage. People saying they aint going back to crypto almost releives me in a way knowing we might be close to a bottom.

rwoj

the sign of a great con is one in which the mark comes back for seconds

F1XII

As long as Bitcoin hasnt gotten hacked, literally nothing fundamentally changed about BTC. Its the exchanges that are the issues.

rwoj

> Its the exchanges that are the issues. yes, without the fraud of tether or any of the other exchanges bitcoin wouldn't be worth anything at all. as you say - the fundamentals have not changed.

barsoapguy

How can there be a bottom when Mt Grox doesn’t drop until Aug .. potentially 150K bitcoins cashing out all at once , will absolutely wreck the system .

F1XII

Nice. Rhanks. I actually havent heard of this story. Good to know that August is the date.

Fun-Airport8510

I lost around 10% ($40,000) net worth in Voyager scam but most of my net worth is in my house which is paid off.

wildup

Wait until bigger idiots to accumulate over time. I'll give it 5 years. It's a never ending cycle.

beard156

Coinbase, Robinhood hot potato to a ledger nano x

Saffirejuiliet

Same with the addition of FTX.US for me

beard156

I haven't looked into the fees of FTX swaps directly to ledger. Have you?

Saffirejuiliet

Not yet, but I heard it was announced. I will definitely check it out soon.

psxndc

Hadn't even considered Robinhood. What are the rates/spread compared to Coinbase (I have both)? Regardless I plan to transfer each month to a cold wallet, but need something to use to DCA BTC and ETH first

beard156

Robinhood zero trade fees, typical transfer fees. Just a handful of coins. But reoccurring buys is nice.

psxndc

Awesome. You just saved me from spending the weekend trying to figure out Coinbase Pro's python API (so I could automate DCA through them and pay lower transaction fees). Thanks!

beard156

If you're an ADA fan, no dice for Robinhood. But BTC, ETH, LINK are in there. It wouldn't hurt to diversify across the two. And just eat some fees on coinbase. Not financial advice but in these markets bitcoin typically dominates, more bleeding expected for all other coins over the next couple months.

psxndc

Eh, I've been burned by enough alts to only be interested in BTC, ETH, and Algo. I know ALGO isn't on Robinhood, but I wasn't DCA'ing into it anyway.

wobblyunionist

Solar panels lol

AnalEmbiid

Stop using damn exchanges and get a wallet.

Ordinary_Soup_1789

Coinbase.

fuzion98

This. And Coinbase wallet is self-custodial meaning only you have the private key (seed phrase). Plus you can audit their balance sheet.

YoungMaleficent9068

Just looked coinbase wallet up. That shit is horrible. Whoever told you that this is a sensible wallet is absolutly mad.

fuzion98

What does that mean? What’s wrong with it

YoungMaleficent9068

They do know the keys almost certainly. From all i can see.

fuzion98

This is the separate app called Coinbase Wallet. They definitely can’t see the keys because it is generated locally and stored on your phone’s Secure Enclave. If you are talking about an wallet address on their exchange, yes they have access to that. They have an integration where you can link Coinbase Wallet to your Coinbase account which makes it so they can redirect someone to use the wallet when trying to trade unsupported assets on a DEX (like uniswap). https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/trading-and-funding/buying-selling-or-converting-crypto/link-my-coinbase-wallet-to-my-coinbase-account

kamicosey

We can buy on coinbase and transfer to coinbase wallet right? Guess I gotta figure out how to do self custody now. It’s safe even if CB goes under right?

Ordinary_Soup_1789

From what I understand Coinbase wallet is safe even if Coinbase goes under. Yes you can transfer for a small fee to Coinbase wallet.

barsoapguy

This time you had better read the TOS

Ordinary_Soup_1789

Underrated comment of the century

blue_eyes_pro_dragon

I’m sorry but this is wrong. We are also unsecured debitors for Coinbase as well.

Ordinary_Soup_1789

When I asked in the coinbase sub they said wallet was good because we hold our own keys. Edit: I dont claim to have the corner on truth. I will stand corrected.

blue_eyes_pro_dragon

So here is the general info: https://fortune.com/2022/05/11/coinbase-bankruptcy-crypto-assets-safe-private-key-earnings-stock/ Coinbase wallet might be a different product where you do hold keys, but it’s unclear exactly how it works. Legally when you get money to Coinbase you are unsecured

fuzion98

Not on wallet, that’s a self custody solution.

YoungMaleficent9068

Looked it up.. horrible. They just openly lie to you about passphrase and key. 100% they can take your coins any time anywhere

Ordinary_Soup_1789

Keep in Coinbase wallet?

YoungMaleficent9068

Im damn sure they have the keys aswell with the coinbase wallet.

Ok_Mongoose5169

Lmfao WRONG

YoungMaleficent9068

Closed sources 🤡🤡 cant tell anything really. Seems like they send you the key and you put your pathphrase. Complete snakeoil garbage. Sorry to let you know

Ok_Mongoose5169

I think they just changed it for the better a few weeks ago. I can't auto transfer between my cb and wallet anymore. 😕

YoungMaleficent9068

Prestigious_Window34

Gold, saving money up for housing crash, I recommend reaching out to hard money lenders in your city. Buying an AMG because if losing my money taught me anything you only live once. (With them stopping production of V8 I also hope it’s an investment) I’m looking into dealing with a real financial advisor too. Someone I can go see if my money disappears, and the mattress like someone else mentioned.. lost over 50k in voyager I will be smarter. Took all my money off Robinhood this morning they will not Rob me too lol

manticor225

I recommend Series I bonds as well, if you're looking long term.

visoleil

Can I ask what you did with your holdings on Robinhood? Did you cash everything out or transfer your coins/stocks? I have some things on there too and was wondering the process.

Prestigious_Window34

I am cashing it out, into my bank..I am finding a traditional broker and placing the money with them since I’m a long term holder, I don’t need instant access to stocks.. I may do TD Ameritrade. But I couldn’t recommend anything specific at this point

visoleil

I’m in the same boat, although I didn’t lose nearly as much - sorry that stinks, man! I’m in for the long haul too. I think I’ll put the big stuff on a cold wallet and to hell with all the garbage alt coins I have left. I feel partially “done” with the whole crypto thing at this point. Good luck!

Quantx2792

Gold? Yikes. It doesn't even keep pace with inflation on a macro scale. Barely managed to put in a new high and got immediately sold off. When accounting for inflation, gold has been a terrible buy for over a decade now.

Prestigious_Window34

You should always have around 5-15% of your portfolio in precious metals IMO.. plus I’ve brokered a deal with my gold dealer to where I can return anything at market value - 10%.. I know it’s not enough for inflation but you would have to kill me to take it from me. Unlike cash in banks. If your portfolio is only 10k then 5-15% isn’t even a Troy oz.. so at that point it is not recommended

Quantx2792

My problem with anything more than a 5% allocation is that for over a decade PMs haven't just bled to the SPY, they've been absolutely slaughtered. Against BTC, PMs aren't even in the same conversation. If I start to see a meaningful reversal against the SPY or against BTC, maybe I'll reallocate but at some point you have to say what's the point of holding this asset class when: #1 it doesn't keep pace with inflation; #2 it bleeds against SPY; #3 it bleeds against BTC: #4 it's expensive to properly secure and very hard to move meaningful quantities. Paper gold is a trash meme. Physical gold or bust and that is a real headache to deal with when your talking a 5% allocation of large sums of money. Personally, I'm really over PMs.

Trader_MD

I’m struggling with the same question. Some say FTX, but why do I want to give them money when FTX/Alameda/SBF we’re all intertwined in the Voyager fallout?

Sad-Conference-9438

Feel the same way. Started to open account last night and stopped. Trying to decide between Binance.us or Ftx.us

Trader_MD

I think any of these bigger exchanges who step in to support the return of Voyager customers crypto have a great opportunity to earn our loyalty. In the meantime, watching BTC go up only pours salt in the wounds knowing we may not get it back.

Martymations

If it's helpful, Binance.US has zero fees for BTC trading pairs.

cpjr48

For trading, staking, rewards NONE. For 5+ year HODL using FTX or Coinbase and transferring my BTC and ETH to Ledger Nano X

gemini and a trezor

AceHoops

Can’t use Binance in my state, so I’ll primarily be using Kraken for trading. Also have Coinbase for CB Earn, Gemini for my Brave Browser BAT wallet, Atomic Wallet for coin storage (when possible).

zKarp

There's an btc atm at my local hole in the wall gas station. Sometimes that seems more secure :)

LatinxSeaman

Guns and Real Estate from now on.

ritualzzz

Self custody is the only way. Get off the exchanges and hold your own crypto.

psxndc

Using? Coinbase. Trusting? None. Current plan is to DCA into BTC and ETH each week and then once a month, move that month's purchases into my Ledger.

Counter_Proposition

Binance US ...but I am starting to not trust ANY of them after this + the Celsius debacle. :(

Human-Copy-3328

This whole debacle has taught me that I need to start a homestead and barter

This is the way

CryptoGirlDad

My mattress and for added security have my gun on standby . Fuck the argument of inflation rather lose 5-10% than what the exchanges did. Getting fucked by inflation is like getting a 5” dildo up your ass but w lubrication it sucks but manageable .. What Steve and Celsius did to their customer is like getting fucked by a 16” horse dildo no lubrication Steve smiling at us while sticking it up our asses telling us it will be good for us and don’t worry your blood coming from asshole will serve as lubrication fucking animals

ME_CPA

Why didn’t you read their user agreement and do proper due diligence? Nobody scammed you. You just didn’t do your own research first. Nobody to blame but the person in your mirror.

RestlessRebelNC

Excuse me. What is your purpose here and why are you so concerned about what WE do with OUR money/crypto? Move along

ME_CPA

Because it’s hysterical?

CryptoGirlDad

You clearly don’t understand the meaning of sarcasm … Thanks a lot Captain Obvious

Subara

Gemini. I trust them to hold my coins until my deposits clear. After that I promptly move things to cold storage. Been enjoying their credit card too. Earning sats every day.

shiestyblue

What’s sats? Been hearing a lot about it recently

Rostiff

100,000,000 sats = 1 BTC

Subara

Sats stands for “satoshis.” They’re just fractions of a Bitcoin.

AngriestSquirrel

Tastyworks who uses zero hash as their crypto custodian

Scooby_Doo43230

I use donut and DimeFi for interest.

Zoey1234100

Binance

Pionex us and bingx

jmmdp

Decentralized exchanges like Tinyman or AlgoFi. Use your own private wallet so your funds aren't locked up and at risk of something like what happened to Voyager

SomberJack42

Parking Cash in Ally savings account at 1% until the dust settles. I have a bit of crypto in Coinbase. I’m not a crypto trader, I’m a stablecoin interest earner. BlockFi does me no good since it’s halted in the US. I’ll keep my eye on Genesis and get back in when I’m comfortable.

Bang021

FTX

Crontasktics

Crypto is too volatile with the way the economy is atm. We have coins and exchanges just robbing people left and right with zero repercussions.

Ftx and Coinbase. I was lucky in that I got nearly everything off Voyager except a few hundred bucks in random shitcoins in the weeks before they froze everything. I should have gotten that few hundred bucks out too but my main priority was withdrawing the thousands of dollars quickly. Ftx gives 8% staking rewards on everything like BTC and ETH

Moved everything off Gemini and onto my trezor!!!

Financial-Apricot-75

The main coins I buy can be purchased from Uphold so I'll stick with that.

Only binance, cz is going to be the warren buffet of crypto one day.

Dracian

FTX, CDC, and Kraken.

LilithX

I don't trust any exchange. Don't keep large sums of money on these exchanges.

rollindudeman420

Don’t use a exchange bro. Goddamn did you not learn? Buy yourself a ledger and go from there. I bought the nano s last edition yesterday and should get it next week. Will never use a exchange again and def not to store anything on

Odinsblood1980

I was a huge Crypto.com guy before Voyager. I went back there with a lot of my coins. I also use CB, Gemini, Trust Wallet, and ThorWallet DEX.

Repulsive-Ad3460

Why don’t you use any of the top-tier exchanges?

Odinsblood1980

I'm American. I can't use Binance or FTX. I was't impressed with either US versions. So, I haven't bothered. I've used Coinbase/Pro for 99% of my swing trades. Trust Wallet I stake BNB. ThorWallet I stake Rune/ETH. Gemini, I use thier credit card and hold some BTC. Voyager was for good interest on USDC, but they just shit the bed. Crypto.com was my first and I'm comfortable with their app.

Manicred321

Crypto.com is Chinese/HK I wouldn’t trust those guys. Their yields were bigger than voyager once even, if u dunno where yield comes from ur the yield!

Odinsblood1980

Voyager is Canada and look what happened. Trustworthy? Nope.

brotherRozo

They are a giant to fall as well! Definitely big money behind it so probably easily bailed out

Repulsive-Ad3460

Ok

brotherRozo

Yeah FTX, Binance, Kucoin, all the good stuff really sucks in the US

wegotsumnewbands

Gemini?

Repulsive-Ad3460

wegotsumnewbands

They’re on the list? What am I missing?

Repulsive-Ad3460

Yeah they’re 11th. But by all means, do your thing

sammie1874

Midas.Investments isn’t a bad one. I mean if you’re going to use an exchange at all, I would recommend using one with high yield. If you want, DM me and I can send a referral code and don’t mind helping you understand the platform. They have some pretty cool stuff on there. Like mutual funds for crypto that rebalance for you.

barsoapguy

I see someone hasn’t learnt their lesson yet .

sammie1874

You’re replying to the wrong person.

NerdFarming

No, they're not. You're talking about chasing yield. That's the whole reason Voyager and Celsius collapsed. How do you think they are paying you 5-12% when interest rates have been basically zero for a decade? It works in a bull market, when prices are rising, but not when things turn bearish.

sammie1874

Yes, they are. I’m not chasing anything you fucking dipshit. I don’t use exchanges anymore and this person asked for one. Yield has nothing to do with the success of an exchange. Voyager went down from loaning. Not yield rates. Get your shit together and quit assuming I use an exchange. I never said anything about that.

NerdFarming

"I mean if you’re going to use an exchange at all, I would recommend using one with high yield." You understand that the loans help generate the yields, right?

sammie1874

Research it. They don’t loan which is why they are having no issues right now. You’re assumptions are so incredibly wrong about yield it’s crazy. You’re just blowing smoke out of your ass at this point. They are CeDefi and i really don’t care if anyone uses an exchange. But you’re acting like you’re educating me and you’re not. You clearly haven’t done any research on this platform so quit replying. Loans are why the platforms suspended trading. Not yield…

VIP-Trader

More coins on crypto.com if anyone needs a referral DM me

StoopitTrader

I will probably keep using Gemini but I saw a video this week where they were saying [FTX.US](https://FTX.US) has pass through FDIC insurance. Ideally, I want to be able to keep cash in the account and have it be safe and then trade and move to cold storage. Not sure if any exchange fits that requirement.

barsoapguy

“Saw a video “ 🤦‍♂️read their TOS .

StoopitTrader

Video was going through their TOS, but yeah, DYOR. They were running through what had pass through FDIC and what didn't.

MaladjustedCarrot

Lol crypto is a fucking joke. It’s over!

Wysiwyg777

A bank backed with federal insurance

[deleted]

Diversity is key. I will trust Coinbase to the very end but I still spread all my money out between various exchanges and banks, plus cash in the safe and hard metals. If you lost all your money in voyager Im sorry but you’re an idiot for trusting any one place to store all your assets. Tough love is telling you you deserve it, and you learned a lesson.
