As a litmus test, it's always good to look up a person or group's takes on Ukraine before judging their quality as a leftist:

https://www.derfunke.ch/htm/de/deutsch/international/russland-putin-ruft-teilmobilmachung-aus/#more-21088
https://www.derfunke.de/rubriken/theorie/3049-die-nationale-frage-in-der-ukraine
TLDR: muh both sides, no war but the class war, stop funding the war in Ukraine, no mention at all about what Ukrainians think of the kerfuffle, Ukrainian leftists should hate capitalism more than they hate the Russian army.
God the left in this country is so fucking garbage I hate it
Ukraine has become a solid litmus test of one's progressive conscience. Shit takes on Ukraine correlate without exception to shit takes on every other progressive issue, in my experience. They're all fucking reactionaries larping Soviet nostalgia.
Under the Theory and Tactics tab on the Wikipedia page for them:
The International Marxist Tendency adheres to Orthodox Trotskyism, emphasising the education of cadres of workers and youth.[13] In particular, the organization claims the scientific socialism of Karl Marx as the fundamental basis of its political and philosophical theory. It adds other authors to its theoretical corpus, mainly Lenin and Trotsky, but also Friedrich Engels[14] and Rosa Luxemburg.[15]
The IMT is a revolutionary international organization whose objective is the overthrow of the capitalist system and the establishment of a socialist society,[16] without social classes and without State, where production would be managed collectively by, and for, the benefit of all. However, the organization's position is that in this process, there will necessarily exist a transitional workers' state which the working class will democratically control: "While the capitalists need a state to maintain class rule, the workers need one precisely to end it."[17]
One of them tried to recruit me actually. Basically they want to influence Die Linke in Germany and Labour in the UK and then split of to form their powerful Trotsky simp party and overthrow capitalism. Very self aware people, you see.
The guy was so proud when he told me about it: "We need a party. Die Linke is no real party, there's no unity of action here, there's too much discussion, too many different opinions. But the proletariat needs a party and we're going to create it"
Psycho
So I checked your comments because I was curious and you only made two comments in that sub but they were deleted:
> Also, only having one party to choose from is bad since changing it would be far more difficult than if there were more. Representative democracy is better.
and
> I believe that china heavily regulates it's media that it owns to control the people.
That is liberalism, apparently?? Don't know if I should laugh or bang my head against the wall.
Or maybe they simply banned you for commenting here.
I know a guy from this organisation. He's a lunatic pretty much. Also an antifeminist because "no struggle but class struggle". Also a creep around women. He always gets in a fight with our eco-socialist and our union workers about theory (he's a big Lenin fan).
So stay away from Der Funke. If you want to find a leftist community in Germany go for Grüne Jugend or [solid]. They have their problematic personalities as well but most people there are pretty fine.
You may not believe it but I also met a lot of rather sympathetic peope at my local chapter of Die Linke. Just try to get in touch with people irl, the German online left consists of MLs, Wagenknecht stans and lunatics.
I'm also seeing another one for something called international socialist militant League which is the other thing that comes up when I look for Der Funke
They published a paper called Der Funke from 1931 and 1933. I assume today's Der Funke is a reference to that.

I have been to talks by IMT groups here in Canada, and personally they give me cult vibes, I can send you a link to the specific one I went to just dm me if you want it.
Well there was a direct attempt at discrediting all of philosophy that came after Marx and they claimed Marxism ‘completes philosophy’ as if one current of thought can somehow encompass and explain the entirety of the human condition and all the existential questions we have about the world.
They also went against the concept of ‘formal logic’ which was really strange.
To me it felt like they were trying to create a grand narrative religion out of marxism (I am a Marxist btw so don’t think I’m biased against marxism) that encompasses all of human thought and makes all other thought obsolete (kinda like how some extremist Christians say the only book you need to read is the bible).
There was other stuff but I need to go back to the notes I took.
What were their thoughts on Lenin and Trotsky then? I know a guy from their German org and and he literally simps for them. He also gets into fights because of this a lot because no other leftist outside of Der Funke likes those two

Wow, I read everything you linked. Based.

> Orthodox Trotskyism uh boy. *Run*. Edit: Of course there's a section about "Splits". Of course.
One of them tried to recruit me actually. Basically they want to influence Die Linke in Germany and Labour in the UK and then split of to form their powerful Trotsky simp party and overthrow capitalism. Very self aware people, you see.
Next level leftism is when you make leftist splintering part of your plan.

Democratic centralism moment
I mean it's not like it doesn't happen but the planet Jesus....
Yeah that sort of stuck out to me too....
As about their views on the USSR and the War in Ukraine. You’ll either be banned or see if they’re Tankies or not
They'll tell you all of USSR was Stalinist and Lenin was a saint.
Yeah it's simple and effective way to find out if a group is worth it.
And I was just perma banned from (reddit: socialism) for "Liberalism."

They temp banned me and then shifted it to a permanent one.

They are Trotskists and MLs, tend to be pretty cringe.

What gave you cult vibes?

They have pins with Trotsky’s face on it, and they quoted him several times in the speech. So they are all over him.
damn, they're simps for a guy who's been dead for a almost a century, pathetic
For a failure he has been dead for almost a century too.
