In S1E6 (Hooty's Moving Hassle) Gus says that that is the first time he ever pranked someone (and now he's got a taste for it) so it's pretty safe to say that Gus learned it from Luz.

Fun fact: Since I was 5, I've had dreams about Freddy Kruger chasing me. The first time, he got me before I could beat him... The next time, it was the exact same dream, and I knew exactly what do to. Every time since, I have beaten him like he owes me money, except for last time where every other horror monster was chasing me, and he decided instead to help me and give me a drink. I think he's sick of getting stabbed with a burning sword.

Both tragic and hilarious, Luz helping her adopted sister sleep well. And regarding her original nightmare, no wonder Vee didn't want to go back to the Boiling Isles.

There’s literally nothing for her back there after all and at this point she’s arguably more human than demon

The only possible thing back there is the other basilisks, I guess. And they might not even still be alive.

There was the Greater Basilisk that attacked Hexside back in the first season but I’m pretty sure she’s dead. Not sure if there’s any others still hiding out on the isles though (Vee did say a few managed to escape at least but we don’t know what happened to them afterwards)

Even if there are still basilisks left and they are still alive, they must have terrible memories of the BI too. Best for all of them to live in the Human World.

Who knows? Some of them may have found places on the Isles. It is hard to say. Everyone deals with trauma differently. Some just wanna leave it all behind, some are just happy to have it stop, and some even fall back on themselves and end up inflicting pain onto others(aka "The Inspector" from The First Day)

They both found places where they belong and people who they belong with. They found what makes them feel… whole.
