afasttortoise

he was right next to the fucking ropes lmao come onnnnnn at least drag him

YoungCubSaysWoof

“He’s a bastard, he’s a bastard, he’s a BAAAAH-STARS, yes he is!!!” I love UK songs at shows!

SeanOuttaCompton

Does the art for fighter fest look like a snickers ad to anybody else or just me

SeanOuttaCompton

Me and some friends are gonna binge watch the first season of SpongeBob and I’m trying to make it a drinking game. The rules so far are to take a shot ever time there’s a moment that has become a meme, there’s a gross out close up, or there’s a random live action bit. Anybody have any other ideas?

Stealthy-J

If you laugh out loud, take a shot.

stevecollins1988

Anyone know if the Universal Studios Sound Stage where they tape Dark sells merch at all?

bluesub989

I liked that REV Pro announcer. She gave me real PRIDE FC vibes. That was dope.

ResolveEmergency863

I'm desperate for an AEW UK tour. bring it to Newcastle. I'll be the first ticket sale. That crowd in Sheffield was so hot.

justambrose

Props to Taz and Excalibur for making the trip to Japan and UK for those matches. I hope we’ll get to see more of this situation. For example, Moxley’s matches in DEFY against Tom Lawlor would’ve been a great match to include in Dark. After the match, Mox called DEFY friend of AEW so I think there must be a working relationship between the two companies at least.

Gone_Away26

Taz's commentary alone makes me want h dark each week! But this week was an exceptional episode having the two big matches that matter more than just buffering w/l records. I hope they continue the trend! Even the regular dark matches have been getting more competitive and given more time recently which I really enjoy as well.

Looper007

I don't know about big star, but I think he's someone who be perfect for this era of ROH.

Dogsareweird

ANGELICO IS BACK

elguitarro

That PAC chant was great. I love how UK crowds just come up with fun random chants on the spot. Here's hoping AEW has a show over there soon.

t0m0m

I want you Pac, I want you Pac, I want you Pac for good.

ziggylcd12

It was a great show to attend anyway. Aussie Open v Oku & Mills was a really good semi main event too. The chants are probably my favourite part of the whole experience haha

ledhendrix

Not really random. They're all football standards.

thelaughingwiseman

He's a bastard, he's a bastard, he's a bastard yes he isssss 🎶

galactabat

All-Atlantic, Private Party, and JAS!? Sign me up!

thelaughingwiseman

AEW really needs international venues in hot spot arenas. Such fun and unique audiences.

thelaughingwiseman

That RevPro crowd is super dope. Made the whole match entertaining

jblough

Just got done watching it, great match, and now I want to find more RevPro matches

inverseflorida

RevPro used to upload full matches on Youtube, don't know what happened to that.

LandonKidatrea

At 23:15-24:31 Excalibur joking about Bear Bronson being an "otter" made me laugh. But I really lost it when Taz followed up on that comment at 23:47-23:54. For people who don't know, "bear" is a term used for chubby, hairy, masculine gay/bi men. An "otter" has a lot of body hair, much like a bear, but is smaller in frame and/or weighs considerably less.

dontbesouritsanewday

Came by to say roughly this. Excalibur knew exactly what he was saying

sleigers1

OMG give me Tazcalibur doing their own commentary on full Japanese shows. Doesn't matter what company.

CorbinHive

If QT Marshall grew out a mustache he’d be the biggest heel in all of wrestling

strismystr

Taz and Excalibur during BC vs PP was an all time segment tonight

Looper007

I hope that match showed what a special talent Miyu Yamashita is. I think she's someone AEW should bring in straight away as a big deal as a heel, give her someone who can talk for her (Stokely Hathaway would be perfect) and just let her have great matches with the best talent they got. She'll get over overtime and become a top babyface. She'll end up the women's version of Takeshita but it's important for AEW to make that happen. I've seen a lot of people say Thunder hasn't looked better for a while after seen this match. I said it before, put her in there with anyone who's a great talent and you get great matches from Thunder. But her in there with talent who aren't quite on her level, I don't think she's a Shida or Riho levels of carrying talent not on her level to great work. That's why she can look not so great at times. Be great to see these type of Darks every once and a while, it just makes them must watch. Plus look at the comment count on here now, you are lucky to get 200 comments even that for Dark or Elevations these days.

Known-Ad7468

Miyu Yamashita would be the best wrestler in the AEW women´s division. But she ´s also the ACE of TJPW. It´s the same deal as Takeshita. Ultimately they are destined to be top stars in Japan. Maybe Takeshita really wants to be a star in the US but I don´t see it with Miyu. She seems to be really faithful toward TJPW. And I ´m sure Rossy and Stardom would love to sign her one day.

Looper007

Never say never. Maybe Maki Itoh and Takeshita for sure will end up in AEW in the future full time, but I agree a lot of the bigger names in TJPW are very loyal but you never know. Same with Stardom, I'm sure you have talents that will remain loyal but you could have one or two who might want to try out in America and live there and I'm not saying it be in AEW. A lot of Joshi's from interviews recently really want to try out overseas.

TrillOGee

Here are the backgrounds about the non-AEW wrestlers who debuted on this week's Dark: Conan Lycan: Played Football at Hudson Valley Community College (Troy, New York) in 2015 & 2016, where he was a Linebacker. Trained under Seth Rollins & Marek Brave at the Black & Brave Wrestling Academy. Only been wrestling for a couple of years. Known for competing in SCW Pro in Iowa, where he held the Iowa State Championship. He also competed in AAW Pro & Game Changer Wrestling. Mila Moore: Former WWE PC Trainee. Signed with the WWE last August during Summerslam week. Before WWE, she trained at the D-Von Dudley Academy. She was with the WWE for 8 months until her release this past April. She never made her in-ring debut & was supposed to work under the name "Mila Malani." However, she did appear as an extra on a few NXT 2.0 episodes. Since leaving WWE, she competed in 2 matches at Coastal Championship Wrestling (Florida). Overall, she competed in less than 10 matches.

Looper007

I think overtime and with WWE only giving these Performance centre talents they sign these days 6 months to get good or they get the chop. You'll see plenty of Mila Moore types on Dark. Be great to see one or two come good and prove themselves.

fluffywolfe

Ah, I see why Moore was so green in there. Great look though.

AGINSB

He is only "A" bastard? No, he's "The" bastard.

trippysmurf

You could tell that match was something special when half the TJPW roster was watching ringside.

Heerokun

Those are seconds. It's their job to provide the wrestlers with support, protect the audience when things spill outside and lead cheers to pump up the crowd

happensq

I already saw that TJPW match and funny enough it was my first TJPW event to watch, did not expect Rosa to be there. Really liking Miyu to be honest, she’s good! Cant wait for their championship match!

AGINSB

To the guy in the front, FTP

harrier1215

So does Shota get a lot of Tanahashi comparisons?

No-Economics4128

Aesthetic, move set also relatively similar.

El-Drunko

Shota is definitely part of their next generation and they've got a lot of hopes for him.

harrier1215

Dante Martin has so much potential but needs to fix his facial expressions. His only emoting looks like he just needs to take a dump.

LargeEdith

Fantastic match between PAC and Shota, but the poor TV production really took me out of it.

thelaughingwiseman

I honestly liked how raw it made the match feel. It was like a Bourne movie with shaky cam lol

jblough

 i loved it!!

Toa_of_Memes

It’s not really tv tho, RevPro is more akin to a super indie iirc

LargeEdith

I should’ve used the term video production instead. Semantics aside, it sucked.

AGINSB

Nice to see Angelico back

thelaughingwiseman

I need to see him fight Bryan Danielson

Dr__Hillbilly

For someone that doesn't follow but is aware of Stardom and TJPW, can someone compare them using American promotions as a comparative?

Heerokun

Stardom matches are similar to American indie wrestling in that they go pretty fast with lots of flashy moves few submissions or rest holds and less focus on selling. Its the video game where the character doesn't change ability or attack until they hit 0 HP and just drop (IE someone hits a finisher.) Booking wise they're more like WWE. Lots of non-finishes in an effort to keep people looking strong. A few people at the top at any given time and everyone else muddling around in midcard faction squabbles. TJPW is more similar to 70's~80's territory wrestling. Lots of character, everyone with a unique look and moveset. Very few people share moves outside of simple things like bodyslams. There's more focus on selling and in ring storytelling but less flash. Everyone is mostly friendly with one another with the goal of making the promotion bigger and better but just with different ideas on how to do it. For many, the fun of the promotion is about watching the wrestlers to which they attach learn and grow. But that can be a long process so some fans will inevitably get frustrated.

pat_speed

Stardom is your peak WCW before attitude, really good wrestling and cool characters, some of the best wrestlers and peak of the style in the area. TJPW from what I gather is TNA at there peak, not as much focus in the mainstream, but dedicated followers and shocking high number really good talent come from there, even if it's not the most popular

Skywalker3030

There are no real comparative Western promotions specifically tbh TJPW is more focused on characters and putting on a show, but there are tons of super great wrestlers at the top of the card especially, and they are growing in popularity. They have a ton of awesome tag team matches and 'party' matches in the undercard like the PWG aspect of AEW where they mix indie style fun with great wrestling. Stardom is more focused on the in ring product and the storylines are heavily based on factions, like NJPW or more specifically Dragon Gate. They are the 2nd biggest promotion in Japan at this point, so bigger than TJPW. They still have interesting characters too though.

fluffywolfe

Compare in terms of what? Relative stature within the industry to each other? The difference in offerings?

Dr__Hillbilly

Both of those would be great. I couldn't put the right words together to clarify

fluffywolfe

Hmm... In terms of stature within joshi, Stardom is WWE and TJPW is... AEW, I guess? There's no clear cut no. 2 joshi promotion, so the comparison is a bit hard. In terms of style... Stardom is like mid-2000's RoH while TJPW is like Chikara.

Dr__Hillbilly

That's perfect, makes a ton of sense! Thank you!

jeanlucpikachu

Taz and Excalibur watch wrestling podcast is my favorite time of the week, hands down

hackmastergeneral

That exchange where Taz was "I lapsed into play by play, sorry", and Excalibur says "one day Taz, you will learn the rules of the booth" and Taz just absolutely busts up was pure gold

Tan_servo

I honestly think they should drop the name Dark. It invokes thinking it’s “out of the spotlight” and insiders know it means “Dark Match” it’s not truly dark as it’s being filmed and edited. so the name hurts the viewings I think

qwertythe300th

#"EVERYBODY #ROCK YOUR BODY RIGHT #PAC IS BACK, ALRIGHT!" Get AEW to England now. Not even to mention the "He's a Bastard" chorus. What a match!

Dust_Silly

Is he Original?

Bob8644

THAT'S THE WAY UH HUH UH HUH I LIKE IT UH HUH UH HUH

awholewhitebabybruh

He was not feeling that. Fucking hilarious.

Shadow_Log

Super hot crowd for the PAC/Shota match. The introduction alone was awesome

Old-Task5977

PAC is just on another level.

Known-Ad7468

He really is. He has everything, wrestling, charisma, character work. They should have called the title the All PACific Title.

Lo_Key90

Such an excellent episode.

NachoMan-SandyRavage

UK crowds & chants >>>

SeanOuttaCompton

It would be so cool if the Atlantic belt continues to highlight the indie scenes in various regions- imagine if Takeshita took it to Japan, Penta took it to Mexico, Angelico took it to South Africa. It would be so cool to see venues of different shapes and sizes across the globe

plzsnitskyreturn

Buddy to Australia please and Kyle O'Reilly to the Pacific Northwest

El-Drunko

Honestly I'd love to see Buddy come defend it in Melbourne City Wrestling against Adam Brooks; teacher vs student, the former ace of MCW vs the current ace.

insomniainc

Definitely need more episodes like this, the Ex and Taz magic school bus journey of worldwide wrestling(name super pending) must continue.

GeneralFookNuts

For those asking PAC asked after this match that TK should send a proper challenger for him for the July 23rd Rev pro show Meltzer said his opponent at that show “is a big name”

Dust_Silly

Goddamn, I'm going to that show, that's dope

linny_456

PAC's next defense is going to be in Dublin on July 22nd against LJ Cleary. Would be cool if he immediately backed that up with another defense the next day.

fluffywolfe

Oku?

fluffywolfe

Mox vs. Takeshita's gonna rock...

TheresAlwaysOneOrTwo

I'm happy that was on Dark, I, 100% would not have seen it otherwise.

insomniainc

Did the video switch or did they just tack on the control center? As that's real smart

Doctormilhouse

When I describe Dark and Elevation to my friends, I tell them it's like when WWF had syndication on weekends. Lots of squashes, a little angle progression to set up future matches, nothing critical that can't be recapped. But every once in a while, you get a couple really, really good matches.

A fucking weird asshole eDrone from Wales that has never actually been able to troll anyone.

Bob8644

No one answer this LOL

kaichou_dp

WWE Fan who has a big hate boner at AEW was laughing when i saw him in the chat LMAO Man hate watching Dark and spams like a man child

fluffywolfe

Man took time off from watching NXT 2.0 just to spam hate? Wut?

kaichou_dp

Spamming AEW WILL FAIL like a child while some ignore him and some just made fun of him on his childish acts

otaner14

Great Dark. I hope this wasn’t a one time thing and we continue seeing AEW title matches across the world presented by AEW.

UmpireAJS

If Dark can be a compilation of AEW wrestlers having great indie matches and Elevation can be replaced by RoH programming, I think we are set. The only cherry on top would be Live Rampage.

el_sh33p

PAC basically let Shooter have that whole match up until the last couple seconds. That was fantastic.

fluffywolfe

Ooo, Dark transitioning into Control Center? I like.

BullBuchanansTie

That was such an awesome match. The atmosphere was incredible. They knew when to let the crowd reactions linger and take their time going from spot to spot.

thebankruptcy

If I ever go to the UK, I kinda want to go to a match. That's some weird fun crowd energy.

fluffywolfe

Dark should be "The World on AEW" more often.

Artifice_Purple

That was a great match.

[deleted]

Shooter and Yuta tag team?

Artifice_Purple

I don't hate that one bit. Yes!

LeoIunti

Killer episode this week

idontknow1001

I would kill for a Shooter AEW excursion.

Lilpostmelon

Dope match

TidalPawn

PAC incredible as usual. First time seeing Shooter, definitely a fan now.

kcq244

Holy shit, aew needs to run the UK, those shows would be so hot

Skywalker3030

there's a reason why Danielson said that in a perfect world he wanted his match with ZSJ to be in the UK the atmosphere would be unmatched

bayleysgal1996

Great match, Shooter did a great job and Pac was fantastic as always!

TheKareemofWheat

That was a great first defense.

DragonBallKruber

That was the best episode of Dark I can remember

times_zero

Very good main event. Nice submission finish.

No-Leopard-2039

Really good match. It could have gone an extra few minutes and I wouldn't mind.

RustyToasty

What a gem of a match for free on YouTube.

crion_jb

Hanging Brutalizer is a hell of a finisher.

insomniainc

Jebus that match was fantastic

ArgieGrit01

That was awesome

Pylons

That was really, really good.

ShadowGiantOut

PAC is a unicorn.

exospheer

i think have excalibur and taz doing commentary for oversea matches is a great.

fluffywolfe

Standing Brutalizer!

No-Leopard-2039

The 3rd act of this match has been so well built up.

el_sh33p

JESUS this home stretch.

ArgieGrit01

Shota uses Mox's finisher? That's really cute

fluffywolfe

Just a crisp sequence of moves from Shooter!

el_sh33p

PAC is putting this kid *over* tonight, good lord.

Pylons

I gotta say, I thought the production on this match would be much worse.

No-Leopard-2039

The dropkick to the top rope is such a great desperation move.

[deleted]

Can we get Pac defending in PWG?

fluffywolfe

So we can see it half a year later.

UmpireAJS

Just go to UK for two weeks TK, instead of going to random East Coast and Midwestern towns.

insomniainc

That's inevitable. TK has spoken of doing a show at craven cottage for a while now.

Doctormilhouse

One day, all these random banger matches will be behind a pay wall of a streaming service.

el_sh33p

![gif](giphy|thUM5CWFPNoLS)

Lo_Key90

Best to enjoy em while they're here

insomniainc

So I doubt that this is the case but if this title was created specifically so pac could do stuff at home and then they aired on dark I got no issues with that at all if it's gonna produce matches like this.

jblough

I think since AEW is hot in the UK, the Atlantic Title is a goodwill/brand building type thing, and tonight proves it worked. A really great match!!!

ay1717

It’s a title belt that comes with its own travelling camera department budget

fluffywolfe

No need for a camera budget. Most of these promotions have their own video recording.

el_sh33p

I fuckin' love how many moves he borrows.

fluffywolfe

That Trent tribute was awesome!

RustyToasty

UK wrestling is the fucking best and I'm still pissed WWE fucked up the scene so badly.

el_sh33p

This is my first taste of it and I already agree with you.

ay1717

Bastard Driver to the Bastard Edit: inverted bastard driver

malren

Is this the best Dark ever? I think it is. This has been broadcast TV worthy IMHO

No-Leopard-2039

Strike exchanges LOOK SO MUCH better close up...

ArgieGrit01

Man there's 14k people watching on youtube. Anyone who watches Dark regularly could tell me how many viewers they usually get?

UmpireAJS

Usually less than 10. Also Dark threads top out a high 400-ish comments. We are probably going to cross 800 here.

Looper007

400 is pretty generous to be fair, in recent times you be lucky to get over 200 for either a Dark or Elevation thread. It's really gone down in the last year in terms of people watching those shows on here. In it's first two years or so Dark threads used to hit 800 or over on a regular basis. And this is the first one I've seen in a long time reaching 800. Usually Darks and Elevations 10k viewers watching live and around 250k to 300k by the weeks end. You might get the rare case of it doing near 500k depending on if a big star appears on it.

fluffywolfe

Long Darks have more. Still remember that time Dark beat NXT's comment count, 1.1k to 1k.

exospheer

not 14k

insomniainc

Wow this has not felt like 90 mins. Crazy good episode.

bayleysgal1996

Besides being really good in general, this is also a really *fun* match

ChairmanLaParka

That “he’s a bastard” chant really needs to become a thing, stateside.

ay1717

Please don’t make PAC laugh on camera, i’m sure the bloody aftermath will violate the Geneva convention somehow

godlikeGadgetry

I absolutely adore the UK Crowds so much, and try to sing along with them. This crowd is no exception

No-Leopard-2039

This is the most over Pac's bastard gimmick has been ever.

Pylons

It wouldn't be Dark if Taz didn't sing at least once.

SeanOuttaCompton

Are british fans always singing or are they trying to fuck with the taping by triggering a copyright strike because tbh either one is funny

Entire-Weakness-2938

British folks sing at a lot of sporting events—especially soccer. Lots of home crowds have a song about their home team, among others. These songs are not always family friendly 😂

UmpireAJS

| Are british fans always singing Yep

RustyToasty

They're always singing, it's a staple of britwres crowds.

BullBuchanansTie

"He's a bastard, he's a bastard, he's a bastard, yes he is!"

UmpireAJS

Englishman Jones

el_sh33p

Man, American audiences gotta borrow that chant immediately.

fluffywolfe

He's a bastard, yes he is!

RustyToasty

GET IN TAZZ!

times_zero

These UK fans are great.

exospheer

Shota is going to be a massive NJPW star. Can't wait for his redebut.

RustyToasty

Shooter appealing to my unreasonable attraction to Mox and Tanahashi all in one.

No-Leopard-2039

I really wish Pac does the G1 one year. So many dream matches.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TidalPawn

14.5k now.

SpaceWhaleScrubber

This 90-minute runtime is making me nostalgic for the pandemic-era marathon Dark episodes, all it's missing is Taz and Excalibur losing their minds at 3am (and the giant florida roaches I guess)

fluffywolfe

We got a comment count to match too, lol!

ScornOfTheMoon

Yo that drop kick was fucking CLEAN.

ArgieGrit01

Lovely dropkick

ay1717

I know Shota’s his son, but the love that Mox gets across the industry warms my heart

No-Leopard-2039

Damn, Shooter's shoulder roll made me tingle.

SeanOuttaCompton

Dojo excursions are basically rumspringa but for Japanese wrestlers

BirdiMania

Shades of Moxley.

RustyToasty

Shooter did the Wild Thing Wiggle!

Artifice_Purple

It took a few seconds for that hold to make sense in my brain lol.

fluffywolfe

Shooter trying to use the same submission as Julia Hart, but PAC kept his hands clasped.

ay1717

>*Shota Umino does submission hold that defies limbs and camera angles* Excuse my language but what the heckaroonie is that

el_sh33p

What the hell was that? Some kind of Crucifix Cobra Clutch?

slowmo152

I miss English crowds.

Subrick

Was this crowd just singer “Shooter let me go” like the sea shanty in The Lighthouse?

insomniainc

Yes yes they were

insomniainc

Shooter is such a star in the making it's not even funny.

MC_Lutefisk

hot damn Rosa v Yamashita was a great match. Yamashita's really fun to watch - her kicks are stellar

Pylons

This is a great match.

DragonBallKruber

PAC has always reminded me of the Hound from Game of Thrones. Super cut throat in promos/mannerisms and makes everything in the match look like it would kill the average Joe

bayleysgal1996

Pac's got some moves. And ill intentions for Shooter.

RustyToasty

Dancing Jordie Jones over here.

el_sh33p

Man, PAC is like a whole different guy here. It's fascinating to see the contrast between this version of him and what we usually get.

No-Leopard-2039

Pac is going to wrestle for a very long time. He knows when to pull the trigger and when to stick w/ a more grounded offense. And his matches have become more interesting as a result of it. It's no surprise Tana gave him props (along w/ OC)
