Tonight would have like a new chapter for AEW regardless. But they chose to take that and turn it into a positive, by setting a clear path forward: Starks and Takeshita both got star making performances. Moxley is moving into a role where he'll work with upcoming talent and help elevate them. MJF's next major feud is more or less confirmed.

Excellently put. It really does feel like a PPV where we'll look back in a few years and recognize that tonight was the transitioning point for those young stars into the main eventers of the future.

Both shows this weekend exceeded my wildest expectations. Congrats to both WWE and AEW.

I always liked OC but never really thought he could get past the gimmick and be a world title guy. This run really showed that he absolutely could carry a world title and do something special with it

Every year there's been some minor development added in his character. Every year his seriousness % increases little by little. This was the first time tonight we saw him do the lazy sloth kicks, then turn it up into rage mode and actually try to kick in someone's head. He's added a few touches in his character to keep it fresh but still mostly the same of why we loved him when he first got exposed in AEW. Tonight I think we all knew he was gonna lose to Mox, but he showed the fight and heart in kayfabe to not be considered a pushover and taken as a joke. Mox is that mental hurdle in AEW you have to get over because he is AEW's cerebral assassin of mindgames. He made Hangman dig deeper to beat him in the chain match at Revolution. We saw OC reach new limits mentally tonight to try and beat Mox, and that was great storytelling for his character. Because Mox was the same ole Mox, and perplexed why it wasn't a walk in the park to beat OC. So Mox got a taste of why OC has been through 31 title defenses. And now OC got a taste of what he needs to do to push himself to outlast someone with the mental strength as Mox if he wants to get a world title run.

The gimmick is a gimmick. The dude is talented as hell in the ring. He is a wrestler first and a gimmick second.

I hated every part of that match. I'm sorry. I know I'll get downvoted. But I hated it. It destroyed the fun innocence of the OC character. He fought his ass off cool. But the dude had his lane. And all for what? Losing? At least you could have an arc that he left the games to elevate to a whole new status. Meanwhile, if there's anyone on the roster that doesn't need this title belt, it's Mox. Not to mention you had SO MANY heels go over tonight. This PPV needed to end off with some cheers. But it just kinda hit with a thud seeing OC not get the hero arc.

Nah, it rightfully establishes the tiers in the company. OC is an other-worldly competitor during his run, but, eventually he hit a wall. And then despite surviving some matches, he came across the final boss. And we havent yet seen how he returns...if he returns back doing low-midcard nonsense, then yeah, it was a waste...but if he returns to face whichever guy goes mega-heel in the eventual MJF/Cole breakup, then we've seen exactly his motivation to reach that next level. Sometimes even dominant champions lose because of the wear and tear; OC was murdered a week ago in Stadium Stampede and barely survived Penta...eventually it adds up

you crazy for this one. oc had an incredible title run and looked a million bucks tonight, and you really believed it took such a monumental succession of wars and and still on top of that there needed to be a legendary killer like Mox to put him down. He was put over massively tonight.
