Need to catch up on the first hour I missed ๐ฌ but that was a pretty good show overall. Will probably watch Collision or DDT in the meantime. Happy Wrestling everyone!!
Tana rubbed his sweat on a towel We are completely back
He really is incredible ๐
AISHITEMAAASU
Me too Aishitemasu, Tana.
See you all Tuesday folks! With some big matchs, with the semi being Umino/Tsuji and the main event Okada/KENTA
See y'all Tuesday? Whenever the fk it is next, see y'all then folks
now it is time to watch Collision, cya
Omg Tana watch your knees ๐ฌ
If that's how he destroys his knees I wouldn't even be mad
Gedo actually let the samurai dad beat Naito and Tana last year and probably felt that was too strong so he had to reverse that this year.
Lol Nakashima, do you even New Japan?
I don't know how many G1 Main Event air guitar solos we have left, so gonna enjoy this one
๐ฅบ
Guitar solo!
Send 'em home happy, Tana! See you fellas on Tuesday.
NO SHOUTEN KAI= NO WIN ITS JOEVER.
How can you not like this man?
So HENARE, Ishii, Mikey and Coughlin are out after tonight show if I'm not mistaken. Goto isn't completely out yet since he still got 2 big matchs with Cobb and ZSJ but it's not looking good. Same with Shane who still got a big match with Cobb.
I think Goto's alive until last day. Haste will have to save ZSJ with the Cobb upset.
No "G1 no G wa Goto no G" this year :(
This match was knees vs ribs, knees won
Happy Cake Day!
**Go! Ace!**
Get stem cells Tana
steam cell + a full year break. also give him vacation to Guam or Bali after fixing whatever his body needs. thankfully with the border opened, NJPW can afford his absence now.
Shutdown German getting kicked out of mustve given Miyahara somewhere an anuerysm.
Crowds haven't been super good this g1. Sort of flatish but tonight is really good. Best gate at this venue of the pandemic
Me doing a "walter white yelling in car meme" whenever goto doesnt combine all his cool asf brutal moves in one shot to finish the opposition and instead does a pin for every signature despite it never actually ending the match.
It's sad because Goto got to have one of the best moveset in the world and none of his signatures ever finish a match. And no offense to the GTR but out of all Goto's moves it's the one I find the least fitting as a finisher
Its akin to falling and hitting your head/upper neck and back on the top of a solid surface (an edge of a table for instance) so its good enough for me.
Sure but like the Ushigoroshi is basically the same thing except Goto do it from a fireman carry position. It's just compare to the rest of his moves it's just seem weird to have this one as a finisher
Tana being a housecat messing with Red Shoes
Hope Tana don't smash Goto's jaw this year
Day 10, "Dream team" are still terrible NEVER 6 MAN champs
Lol like just bring the titles out my guys no shame it that
I'm still hoping that Lil Kazu did convince management to have new belts made and that's why none of them have the Openweight Tags
Go! Ace!
LOVE Goto and Tana is Tana but hope this isnโt too rough
Controversial but I like draws as long as they mix in guys getting pipped at the post like kaito v sanada
Feeling like the Eddie vs Finlay main event will be the one to decide a lot in C block.
**_YES BOY!_**
Good match, but the draw was flat. I'd rather they had a winner.
I'm feeling this leads to Tama winning C-Block with Shingo in 2nd
Weird choice for a draw but that sure didnโt feel like 20 mins
That was great. But I still don't like the overused of draw, I like it when it's a exceptionnal thing, maybe once or twice in the tournament, but it's like what, the 5th one?
There has been 3 I'm pretty sure and one double count out
I think there was Narita/Umino, Narita/Tsuji, Umino/Kaito, and sure Kidd/Kaito was a double count out but it's still considered a draw by New Japan, and now Tama/Shingo.
See normally I think a no contest is lame? But a time limit draw in a tournament where EVERY point counts really brings some great tension for me
These dudes used to going 30 minutes in G1, not surprised in storyline if they aren't quick to adapt
In kayfabe I got no problem with that, even if in reality most G1 matchs were under 20 minutes most of the time. But outside of it I just like to have a winner at the end, but again, it's not a big deal, just not a big fan
I wanna see the chances of EVIL going past the block matches now.
Good stuff. For people who do star ratings, you gotta add at least half a star for going all the way in the heat.
incredible match
I wanna see these guys go again!
Really good match lads
This is not a match I expected to draw
SOOOOOOOOOO CLOSE!
1st draw outside of A block
AWESOME MATCH WOW
This tournament Is crazy gruelling at times
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Maybe having the G1 in the fall instead of the summer was a good thing.
Wooo!
Dude fk performing in that heat. Take it home lads
Tama getting his tits out for the lads! And maybe cooling himself down a little
He instantly looks soooooo much better without the shirt lol
Manifesting a Shingo win ๐
I swear I forgot that tmdk were a thing in nxt and they released one and tried to make the other a singles guy
Not really. They tried to make Shane Haste one of MVP's Aussie buddies, then a member of Antifa, and finally a Crocodile Dundee singles guys.
Went NXT first went live on USA Shane was a midcard guy where he was The Worst? Or something like that before he and Duke Hudson were briefly Hurt Business Version 0.
Mikey actually chose to leave to be closer to his family. Shaneโs with one of the gals from Smosh so he lives in the US
Yeah when Mikey got released Shane got a short run as a single wrestler, but then I think they tried redoing TMDK with who I think was Duke Hudson? And then of course Shane end up in Retribution as Slapjack
Yeah at the time he wrestled under his real name Brendan Vink (on the Aussie indies Vink wrestled as Elliot Sexton and actually was a member of TMDK back there)
LOL at Fujita.
Shane Haste looked strong in basically every match of the tournament, even in the Goto one where he lost in 3 minutes
It feels like the vets of D Block are bored of wrestling each other again but they feel excited to wrestle Haste and Coughlin.
To be fair Naito, Zack, Goto and Tana were already in the same block last year, and they must have wrestle each others many many times. So I could understand them being a little more motivated when facing wrestler they haven't really wrestle before
Fun match
Love a ZSJ win!! That was a good fun match!!
Really good match
Very fun match. I didn't know a lot about Shane before this New Japan run but he's definitely gone up in my estimation as the tournament has gone on.
While weโre all talking Hasteโs tattoosโฆ that one on his abdomen is distressingly close to Roman Reignsโ logo ( I think itโs actually the Berserk logo?)
Yes, he also got a Fullmetal Alchemist tattoo on his forearm.
The brand of sacrifice or something like that
It's uhh very hot out there. Both these guys looked fucked and zsj has njpw level conditioning. I suspect that's why the show is paced quite quickly
Itโs 33C at almost 6pm, which means itโs likely worse in the ring. Canโt be fun for them.
I never noticed til now that Shane has tattoos in Aurebesh.
I thought that was a Jedi symbol he had but couldn't quite tell
Holy shit Shane has an armpit tattoo? Fkin hell
Haha Nagata burying Shane's slaps there
โHowโs your neck cuntโ ๐
Innit
Shanes pretty good I reckon.
Fujita didn't want to pick a side but he doesn't really seem to appreciate Zack getting beat up
This has been a joy
I missed everything before the Naito win, can someone tell me if my pickem of Cobb getting Yano'd came true? Did the True Ace finally get his 2 points?
Yes, the Yano curse has striked once again
https://preview.redd.it/o24iek9ad2fb1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5db9945c40c42080af5e6bf7c55260a0e7802a70
Still the best picture ever. And since that day, Mox have been avoiding Yano
Kevin never passes on a chance to bury NOAH, does he? "And they've got stupid fucking tour names, too!"
Fujita torn between cheering for his dad or brother
Fujita missing out on the hat
The battle over the sweetest boy.
Ichiban Sweet Boy doesn't want to pick a side, what a really sweet boy
Fujita getting in some excercise
Fujita a real ride or die lol
So Fujita did run back to follow Zack
Fujita ๐
Fuj running back to zsj
Fujita gonna stand in the middle of the ring so he doesnโt pick either side
My most anticipated match tonight coming up. Is ichiban sweet boy gonna run back to come back out with Zack?
first time watching an EVIL match and i can definitely see why he's so polarizing on the internet
The frustrating thing is that we all know EVIL can be fucking great because he used to be, but ever since he started this House of Torture gimmick 3 years ago, he's been dogshit.
Man people keep saying this and I always just remember him as a mediocre dude who wrestles like a big man despite not being a big man, looked like he raided someone's emergency halloween costume supply, and had a shit finisher. Like he was easily the least interesting guy in LIJ and the most goofy looking, including Sanada's dumb skull mask and beard era. He's never been up to the NJPW standard when it comes to pretty much anything IMHO.
As the Subreddit's last remaining EVIL fan, I am obligated to tell you to shut your lying mouth.
I got your back
Hey, I would never begrudge anyone liking anything - I'm glad you're an EVIL fan and he's lucky to have you! Very lucky...
Polarizing implies some people like him.
โ๏ธ
Audibly laughed at 4 in the morning at Togo running in for Dick Kick City.
Match 6 already, do they have to be out of the building early?
Shows are usually between 2h30 and 3h30, today's show is probably on the lower end but I don't think it's not abnormal
I'm all for shorter matches especially in NJPW where they can get carried away imo. Going through the card this quick was a little surprising is all.
The only time I root for EVIL is when I got him in the pickems. It felt so wrong cheering for Ishii getting kicked in the dick
That should be a fun one
Ishii has LIJ EVIL's number but HoT EVIL has Ishii's number.
You can always count on EVIL to turn chicken salad into chicken shit.
I know it's for the show, but at one point I feel that if EVIL start grapping the referee in a headlock they should just DQ him It's always a bit sad because I always got a bit of hope in EVIL match when he start wrestling as a bruiser just to at the last minute do some cheating
Same old shit.
#MASSIVE HEAT
Red Shoes wouldnโt have counted that pin.
Okay Dick running in just for the Bobby Hill was kinda funny
Lmao
Boring as hell. How many years will we have to endure the same exact EVIL match?
I unironically really enjoyed that.
EVERYTHING IS ISHII
My internet has decided to go slow as shit for 5 minutes there
Once again Dick Togo proving that he's the brains of HoT. Sadly, he has to deal with incompetence.
Is EVIL bleeding a bit?
Yeah looks like a graze or something?
EVIL you just spat on that shirt
Can't stand evil anymore if it wasn't live they are straight skips Whole HoT has to be one of the most boring factions in wrestling today
Oh no Marty!
EVIL wiping his armpits THEN his face is a choice
Dick Togo just bulldozed over Ishii and the ref. Let's make this a Dick Togo vs Ishii match.
EVIL owes Dick Togo his life there because Ishii was about to kill that man after surviving all that cheating
Evil getting heat! I think he's losing this though.
Did EVIL just wipe his own spit on himself?
Aichi reacting to the heel shit
That was actually a great ref bump.
i just started watching Japanese wrestling and bought NJPW World a couple days ago. Naito had been my guy so far and Ishii seems like a beast to this day
Naito is as cool as it gets.
NJPW fan for 20 years here. Welcome aboard!
Ishii throwing that chair into EVIL's face will live rent free in my head until the end of time.
LOL was that the first time EVIL has missed that?
How in the hell did EVIL just completely miss
Lmao that chair to the face Wrestlers are crazy
Man down!
Kevin's like "They keep fucking up my shit but I kinda don't mind because I hate EVIL" ๐
Reminder that HoT EVIL managed to get a bad match with Ishii, at Wrestle Kingdom of all the places
To be fair they also put on a rematch which was far far better.
Sure, but it also would have been difficult to do worst

EVIL could fuck up a wet dream.

I know it's the point, but EVIL does a very good job of looking evil.
Oh joy it is Evil
Enjoyed this match! It was nice for this Naito to show up for Coughlin
Alex coughlin much like Kevin knight is pretty inexperienced but there is a level of athleticism there. They both have some work but certainly a good baseline
Naito bumping for the newbies in his block. He's helping them look strong. Although, we all knew that Coughlin is a strong boi already.
It's been an hour and we already had four matches
It's a shame he didn't fully counter that into the jackhammer, would have been a sick way to end the match.
Naito is a master at working a Japanese crowd.
Haha my wife's least favourite thing about njpw is back on the menu Spitting
English commentary with Kevin Kelly featuring Oskar Leube not on headset but trying his best
Naito wrestling like the heel that he is.
Very strong man
Coughlin surprisingly patient. LOL.
Damn it. The one day this is on at a reasonable hour I lose track of time and miss the first hour ๐
THESE MY DAWGS FOR REAL
Naito gonna show Alex how to destroy a belt. But hopefully not the STRONG Tag, it's too new!
This guy hates stairs
In terms of potential blocks winner C block seem to be the one with the most plausible possibilities left
Eddie getting to beat up a (former) PC boy. It feels like Evolve all over again.
I mean Mikey was a 10 year vet before heading to NXT.
It was actually kinda fun hearing them call that as the match was going.
I love that. Any blow can end the match at any time. That's the essence of Strong Style.
Nicholls got picked up crazy by that camera + mic "you right? watch the enzui"
Yip. Very obvious. Eddie prior to that said "enzui aye"
Eyyyy Eddie!
WITNESS ME
I'm not sure a resthold-centric match is the way to go with this crowd.
Holy fuck that suplex.
jesus
So for ZSJ/Haste, does Fujita have to follow Shane, then run back to follow Zack?
BASED ACE FINALLY GETS 2 POINTS!
