IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Kick-Off with Cody Rhodes making his way to the ring, and asks Jacksonville what they wanna talk about? Cody says this was his home during the pandemic and they made a lot of good memories together so how about they make some more tonight. Before that however he wants to talk about Backlash, the biggest most watched about Backlash of all time. He wasn't able to enjoy Puerto Rico as much as he wanted because he had a beast in front of him, Brock Lesnar. What he discovered what Brock was made of because it was all over his fist, he realized Brock can be beaten because he did just that. The night after Wrestlemania Lesnar took his focus, but now his focus is crystal clear and it is the World Heavyweight Championship. Cody exits the ring and has the tournament bracket thrown up on the screen, multiple world champions, some of the biggest superstars on the planet. Cody says he'll fight like hell the same way he did at Backlash until he hears Samantha announce him as the new World Heavyweight Championship, and tells Jacksonville to let the tournament begin! Seth Rollins makes his way out for his match and smiles at Cody as he walks past.

  • Damian Priest is interviewed backstage, he says Bad Bunny did his thing at Backlash but his name will live on after the street fight because it took an entire island to beat him. Priest says by himself he will take down Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura, and at the end of the day we'll see if it's him or Finn Balor taking home the World Heavyweight Championship to the Judgement Day.

  • Ludwig and Giovanni are backstage announcing Imperium's arrival and say next week The Ring General Returns. They approach the tag champs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and demand their attention but Sami tells them to come back in 5 minutes because they're busy. Ludwig asks if he meant to disrespect them because next week when GUNTHER shows up they'll be out numbered. Owens asks if they're GUNTHER's henchmen and wonders why everyone has henchmen these days. Sami says while they dealt with the Usos and Roman for months, they'll be dealing with IMPERIUM in one night.

  • During the second triple threat match Cody hits Miz with 3 Cross-Rhodes but when he goes for the pin he is pulled out of the ring by Brock Lesnar who lays out Cody with an F5! After Balors win the match Brock follows up with another F5 through the announce table and demands a mic. Brock asks Cody what he wants to talk about and looks straight in the camera and demands it to look at his face with a massive stich in his forehead and a blackeye from Backlash. Brock grabs Cody and says he wants to talk about himself and demands Cody look at his face and asks Cody if he wants to take credit for this. Brock says he wants a fight at Night of Champions and asks Cody's lifeless body who's the coward now. Brock walks off as officials check on Cody. As Brock is leaving he looks at the World Heavyweight Championship on the stage and laughs.

  • Backstage Cody is limping on as he is helped to the trainers room.

  • After their match Rhea hits Dana with another Rip-Tide and slaps the Prism Lock on her again until Nattalya comes down to the ring and stares down with Rhea. Dom whispers in Rhea's ear and they leave.

  • Zoey Stark is interviewed backstage, she says she's amazing at what she does and has complete confidence in what she does. She finds Nikki Cross backstage and says this is exactly why she's going to succeed, there's nothing but weirdos. Zoey says this gives her a great idea and wants to beat Nikki in her first Raw match. Nikki says she wants to play and Zoey takes that as a yes.

  • Backstage Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville are going backstage getting people to sign a petition, first they have Xia Li sign before finding Johnny Gargano, Candice, and Indi Hartwell. Chelsea says this petition is about righting the injustices in the world, namely getting them a rematch for the women's tag titles. Indi says she doesn't know and looks off-screen to ask Dexter what he thinks and he gives them a thumbs down. Chelsea and Sonya storm off as Johnny says he's happy they're all a family again.

  • Rhea Ripley and Dominik are interviewed backstage, Rhea says she welcomes the pressure of being the number one draft pick when she hears laughing from off screen. Dominik sees Xavier Woods and Akira Tozawa laughing and Dom tells them to have some respect when Mami is talking. Woods says it looks like Dom got his fit from the lost and found but if they have a problem they can settle it in the ring tonight. Rhea accepts on the behalf of "Dom-Dom" and Woods says he'll see her out there.

  • Trish Stratus makes her way to the ring. She asks the fans if anyone has seen Becky Lynch and says she's really worried because she's been missing for a month. Trish says she has used all her platforms and tools to try and find her, and once she is found everyone can say Thank You Trish. Trish says Becky will be found in some dark corner of Iowa with her dumb daughter, but she won't be coming to Raw because this is now Trish's show, her spotlight, and no one is going to steal it. She doesn't care if she is Becky Freakin' Lynch. Becky's music hit but Trish starts to laugh and says everyone is so gullible and dumb, as gullible as Becky was when she thought Trish was her friend. Trish tells a story of one time her daughter wanted a doll as the crowd starts to chant for Becky. She says it's funny because her daughter wanted to name the doll Becky Lynch because how she looked up to her. Becky's music hits again but Trish says they already did that joke but Becky appears in the ring behind Trish! Trish turns around and Becky hits her with a right hand and follows up with a Bex-Ploder, sending Trish to the outside. Becky gets on the mic and says if Trish wants her she's right here, and the man has come around to kick her ass.

  • Cody Rhodes is icing his ribs in the trainer room as Sami and Kevin check on him. Zayn wants to know what is going to happen and Adam Pearce tells him nothing yet.

  • Jinder Mahal introduces Veer and Sanga as two men who have conquered continents, they have waited for their moment to strike and from the shadows they emerge to shake the very foundation of Monday Night Raw.

  • Shinsuke Nakamura is sitting backstage when Miz asks if he has nothing to say, and says that if he agreed to have his back they'd both still be in the tournament and tells him to give Miz-kuke Nakamura. Shinsuke says Miz is right and Miz is his opportunity and next week it'll be the Miz and Shinsuke Nakamura, one on one an it is going to be awesome.

  • Chelsea and Sonya are looking for more signatures when Liv and Raquel approach and say they'd gladly sign since Chelsea and Sonya only had to women up and ask for a rematch. Liv signs but Sonya says they weren't expecting to face Liv and Sonya since they're betting on Damage CTRL winning on Smackdown.

  • Cody Rhodes is interviewed backstage, he says obviously he doesn't feel good about not getting to be the first World Heavyweight Champion on Raw in a tournament that was his to win and he doesn't know what to say. What he does know this is the second time Brock has attacked him from behind for no reason. Cody thinks it may be because Brock's grip on the main event scene is loosening bit by bit. Cody says if Brock wants to fight then against his better judgement he accepts the challenge for Night of Champions.

SHAMELESS PLUGS

GetEatenByAMouse

I just watched the highlight video of the KO & Sami vs Imperium Match. When Kevin kicks out Vinci Hits the mat in frustration and yells at the Ref "Das war drei, alter!", so basically "that was three, dude!". To hear this military style man yell "Alter" is stupidly hilarious to me. Generally, it's weird for me as a German to hear German in the WWE. The only other time I heard that was when Cesaro was doing his whole 4 language thing.

Uknewmelast

Dude Trish is such an amazing heel omg

Reindeer-Timely

Just an absolute asshole. And she adds so many subtle jabs. Had me cracking up.

VeniceRapture

I'm ok with Seth winning the title, but man I am pretty tired of convincing myself Finn comes out looking great in every match he loses.

GobiasACupOfCoffee

God I wish WWE would give us PiP during Dom's matches so we could watch Rhea cos she is sensational. Every reaction is on point. She's living the match as it's happening in front of her. She's more entertaining than the match itself (which wasn't even a bad match). She doesn't only sell moves, she sells absolutely everything.

wibble17

I want the Way to keep being the annoying family to Austin. Have Candice bake him cookies, Indi shows up to support his matches etc. it can be a slow burn storyline with the Way always letting Austin know they will be there for him.

LewaLew12

I think that might be the only way to save Austin's character. Give him a redemption arc.

FlyVidjul

Jey Uso's turn has been going on longer than the fucking Ross and Rachel will they, won't they bit? I get long term storytelling but it's been about 6 PPVs in a row now Jey has been like "YO DAWG THIS AINT IT!" with a conflicted look before he proceeds to beat seven shades of fuck out of Sami. Just pull the trigger already. It feels to me like they caught lightning in a bottle with Roman's heel run (which they have, it's largely been pretty good) but it now feels stale and in the meantime, they've pretty much had him beat every credible threat possible. There's no one in the main roster that would be a legitimate contender I can think of at the moment that Roman hasn't beaten already in his current reign. AJ, KO, Finn, Seth, Cody, Brock, Drew, Lashley, Kross. I'd like to see Solo maybe go for the IC belt and screw Gunther out of it and put him in to take the title from Roman. Although it's hard to see Gunther as a face but he's a genuine threat that hasn't already been beaten. WWE have really written themselves into a corner with this one and other than the predictable Cody winning MITB and cashing in, who else can really take it?

disappointedknees

once someone is beaten (by getting cheated) it is impossible for them to win a rematch. this is a well known fact.

Switchc2390

I disagree. Jey has been slowly coming to realize he’s on the outs. It’s Roman, Heyman, and Solo with the USOs on the outside of the bloodline looking in. I think its been great slow long term storyline building. He never openly showed any contempt at all towards Solo until now. He never felt the pain that Solo is more loyal to Roman than them despite them being brothers and Roman not until now. I do think this could have been built quicker if Roman were on TV more but part of that adds to it for me. The big boss doesn’t show up everywhere.

GreatScott0389

He hasnt beaten Seth

Achillor22

Also, just because you beat someone a couple years ago doesn't mean you just never wrestle them again. We just did a story out of the Charlotte and Rhea rematch. That kind of thing happens all the time. Especially for a character like Roman who doesn't win clean.

CreativeOrder2119

WWE raw is in decline the belt will pepper over the cracks but the booking is not good and sideways for most except Seth Rollins.

LocoToro87

Just a couple of quick takeaways: What an awful, awful crowd. God damn. I am not trying to compare it to Puerto Rico, but by America standards that was one of the worst by some distance. Trish is wonderful as always.

FlyVidjul

I get why a crowd might be shit for RAW tbh. The pacing is all off. They have someone come in and make their entrance and have them standing in the ring for 5 minutes during an ad break before the next person comes in for their entrance.

cenasmgame

Bro, there was an ad break, and interview, and then the opponent came in. That was weird.

solarpowersme

Y'all, if you're not familiar with JD Mcdonagh's work in NXT, let me just tell you that you're in for a huge treat. That man's storytelling and character work is absolutely crazy. As long as they let him continue doing his thing, mark my words, he's going to be one of the highlights of RAW. Not seen a lot of talk about his call-up, but he's easily the call-up I'm most thrilled about and so will you guys be very soon. Oh, and he puts on absolute crazy matches with some stellar in-ring psychology. He's compelling in all the right ways and it really sets him apart from the so many other workrate type dudes who tend not to have a defined character besides being good wrestlers.

Thatsquacktastic16

I was saying to a mate of mine to look out for JD and I've only seen him in one ep of NXT (I don't watch a lot of NXT) - he made that much of an impression on me, I'm so excited to see him on the main roster

leakee2

Jordan Devlin was a much better name imo

ThongOfVecna

Solid show. Happy to see Zoey get a match immediately since she really shines in the ring. I know the biggest knock on her is the character but damn, I'm happy as long as she gets some minutes in between the ropes.

FlyVidjul

Zoey looks solid in the ring. Hope she gets a good story. Haven't watched any NXT since black and gold so don't really know much about her but she looks like she has a lot of potential.

TropicalVision

Sucks that they won’t give Priest the ball and a chance to elevate him in the title scene. Should have had him at least go to final if they won’t let him win. He’s a million times more of a leader in that faction than Finn.

Achillor22

Whoever goes to the final from Raw is winning it and there's no fucking way that's gonna be Priest. Especially not over Seth, Finn and Cody.

TropicalVision

Yep that’s why I said it sucks that they won’t give it to him…

Achillor22

Nor should they. At best he's in the mid card title picture but there are a bunch of people I would put over him in that too.

NewK_ID

Damien is a workhorse and he just had what is no doubt the biggest match of the year (in terms of eyes on it, especially outside of the IWC). He will be fine and im willing to bet he will be involved in the main event scene soon

InevitableMap6470

Damn. I was there last night and the place was loud as hell. Did watch it back and some of it did sound a little off.

_strawBGYN

Watched Backlash on Sunday and came back to WWE viewership. Glad I’m back after this week’s Raw. Gotta catch up on some storylines.

Dontuselogic

Would rather seem Finn got a run

5astick

Trish is horrible on the mic. Absolutely horrible. I’m sick of her already.

majickz

I think you meant to say "thank you, Trish!"

Coldone666

Great episode, very enjoyable, just flew buy.

GobiasACupOfCoffee

How? Balor is being set up to be the first number 1 contender when Seth Rollins gets the title. There's no one on Raw now with a better claim than him, other than maybe Cody Rhodes but he's going to be busy with Brock and is a babyface anyway, it would never be babyface Seth vs babyface Cody. Mark my words, Finn Balor will be Seth's first major feud with the belt. Priest was made to look strong tonight while carrying a kayfabe injury. The result from Backlash isn't supposed to make you think Bunny could beat him in a regular match. It was a street fight in which Bunny used loads of weapons and Priest had him easily beaten but got cocky, like a heel does, and paid the price for that. It was a one off. Dom is meant to be a goober, but he's Rhea's goober.

Except for Rhea

Karmeleon86

Jobbers? Finn just won a match in the World Title tournament and Damien was just in a co-main event spot on Backlash. That term is used way too freely. Tozawa, Elias, Boogs, Dana Brooke… these are jobbers

[deleted]

[удалено]

FlexasAandM

yes, there is a such thing as a co main event. UFC and every MMA organization has co-main events. Boxing has Co-main events. Every real combat sport has co-main events. So WWE, who is a TV show- scripted combat sports organization can sure as hell have a co-main event by simply saying they have a co-main event.. since that is a legit thing. But also, your comment is kind of funny. "there is no such thing as a co-main event". Are you head of WWE creative? Because if WWE creative says "this is going to be called a co-main event then in the universe of WWE it is a co-main event. i am not sure who you think you are. Also judgement day are not jobbers they are all ex champions...

[deleted]

[удалено]

FlexasAandM

It's literally just what they call it and it's a concept that exists.. It's not "marketing" I was gunna watch the show all the way through even if otis vs veer was the surprise last match on. You seem to just be wrong about things. A co-main event is a concept in sports. I am sorry that you don't watch any and presumably never played any. And if WWE wants to call the pre show match a co-main event.. then that is what it i since they make show... you just get to choose if you are going to watch it or not.

Karmeleon86

Lol, seems like you don’t know what marketing is.

Elfamoso14

Ali get a Win, i'm a happy man

Business_Delivery436

If brock attacked cody for no reason then why do we give a care about either of them if neither is going to beat roman anyway? Great booking wwe!

FuckBarry

Can you imagine how good Brock vs Sami for the title would be? God I want that

Cymraegpunk

You know what happens when brock comes up against a fan favourite that's been recently given a chance at the top of the card. It's not fun at all.

Business_Delivery436

They should nickname brock the eraser because he erases any momentum guys have

cleeseula

Cody Rhodes says, "Thank you" to the interviewers on Raw. I respect that.

[deleted]

Its the small things in life

AonghusMacKilkenny

So... who is Roman gonna face at NOC?

Achillor22

No one.

Beezy812

Nobody that has any shot of winning.

TenThousandFist

I'm guessing Jey Uso.

AonghusMacKilkenny

I'd be down for that

FuckBarry

Probably Seth

BlueLuxin

Seth has his match locked up already

FuckBarry

For the new world title you say? Oooooooooaahhhhh

davek1986

YEAH! But then again Roman fear LA so probably not

Eremenkko

AJ would be cool

AonghusMacKilkenny

Wonder how they'll build that story up in just a few weeks

garryl283

AJ challenges Roman. Roman spends 20 minutes walking to the ring to say he's gonna smash AJ. Roman smashes AJ after Solo interferes in the match. AJ goes back to doing whatever.

DidierCrumb

+Jey makes a conflicted face

Cymraegpunk

Also the good brothers are there.

Dazzling121

I’m hoping that after Seth Rollins wins the world heavyweight championship he’s attacked by a returning heel drew McIntyre

AonghusMacKilkenny

It's cute and all having these wholesome moments with the Garganos and InDex but will the causal Raw viewer get it? You need to have Indi working with people who are actually over.

[deleted]

They love running video packages, wouldn't hurt to run some for the Way. You could even have a Miz TV segment where they go over their history.

acleverusername19

You are right. I hope that this will be the start of featuring them and giving them time to connect with the viewers. Also, i think they were talking about Ciampa returning soon, could be that Johnny wants to team up again to form DIY but the rest of the family disagrees.

throwwawayyy688

The Sami Zayn hype has unfortunately definitely cooled down, but it would've been near impossible to keep his crowd reactions as loud as they were a few months ago. But do you think there was a way to keep Sami Zayn as popular as he was in February over a longer period of time?

AhmadA96

One of the main chances of really making sure that Zayn and Owens stay relevant, I think, would be some sort of Tag Team open challenge. Especially if they’re allowed on both brands, there just aren’t enough credible teams on one brand to really make their reign memorable. And if they really want to cement themselves in history as something of importance being the ones who took the titles from the longest running Tag Team champions of all time, and arguably the greatest Tag Team of all time, they should be telling everyone that they are willing to defend it on free television, unlike previous champions, and open up the gates for anybody who’s willing to fight because that’s what they’re about, rather than being about impressing some henchman. This could even force people that aren’t currently in tag teams to join forces and try to go for the gold. Might even find some new teams and new chemistry through it. This could keep them busy far through Summerslam.

alltheworsttoyou

Actually have him be successful in The Bloodline falling. He never needed to win the (or any) title, he needed to be the impetus for their demise. When it became clear that wasn't happening and, at best, at some point Roman was going to kick out the Usos before just continuing on, Sami's entire arc basically had its legs cut out from under it.

shamusfinnegan

Having Zayn be the reason Cody won against Roman would’ve been legendary. I don’t care about clean wins, especially with someone who just returned. But that was the ending. Now it’s past its expiration

Kevinmld

But people said a tag title run would be as good as beating Roman at Mania.

Isoturius

He was always going to cool down.

oblivion2g

I think that Zayn needs a solo face run against monster heels. He's a positive gutsy character that needs adversity to be popular. He can be matched against Strowman, McIntire, Sheamus, Gunther, Lashley as heels.

NewK_ID

After a few more months of working i feel like Omos v Zayn could produce a few good matches

Jasvinder_SINGH

I thinn wwe ruined the whole bloodline situation, it was perfect to finish the story at WrestleMania It's not making any sense now , every show ends the same way every roman match ends the same way Now only sami or ko heel turn could get that hype back to sami Zayn .

Mwrp86

I thought my guy JD would debut today

ramsz16

Kevin Patrick just isn’t that guy. I actually can’t watch because of how cringe he is

Thatsquacktastic16

KP is good as a voice over guy, but as an announcer? I'd take the Ultimate Warrior over him

nightly_lotus

It's hilarious watching Graves want to slap KP after he tees him up and KP whiffs for the 100th time

rebelx

He ends his sentences with a weird inflection/sound and just doesn't sit right with me. It's not the accent since I really enjoy Wade but just something about how KP enunciates the end of his statements. Sounds off

AhmadA96

Agreed. It sounds like he’s out of breath or trying to make it seem like he’s saying something of importance.

markjones88

Kevin Patrick sounds nothing like Wade. Wade is British.

rebelx

I'm not saying they sound alike just that they have accents. I should have made my post more clear.

lambofgun

theres like a weird breathy kind of finish. like he uses more air than he needs to say everything

rebelx

Yes, exactly this! It is completely unnecessary and he does it on just about every sentence he says!

AonghusMacKilkenny

So much of his commentary is just him shouting the wrestlers names "Seth freakin' Rollins!" "Johnny Wrestling!!" And that's it. He does play his part in putting stories over.

lambofgun

he just says what's happening in front him from a broad standpoint, and nothing else. hes really bad

radiokungfu

He doesn't really have a character. Graves just makes fun of him and he states what's happening. I wish he had more of an opinion on things and try to actually combat Corey but he literally always lays down and just sounds lame as shit

LolCremers10

Him and Wade don't have anywhere close to the same accent.

TopazJazzrazz

Quick! Reddit started another Anglo-Irish War. Place your bets people

Achillor22

Judgement Day. The OC. Alpha Academy. Street Profits. Imperium. New Day. Strowman and Ricochet. All of them could be tag champions. Plus there are a dozen others for them to beat up on. The tag division is pretty strong right now. They just need to utilize it.

bigheadsociety

I reckon the only ones that could take the belts off Owens and Zayn without it feeling lackluster would be the Judgement Day

NewK_ID

Street profits are one or two wins away from being built as a credible threat (if they arent already) and could have a good feud across a couple of PPVs

Tornado31619

Street Profits just lost to them. Besides, they’re a spectacle tag team. They don’t get stories for whatever reason.

bigheadsociety

They're a great tag team but have basically had zero storylines, so them in a face vs face fued doesnt work imo.

solarpowersme

> I'm ready for Edge to retire. How do y'all say these things so casually and how is this so upvoted? Absolutely gross. Man's a fucking legend that we never thought was going to return due to his shattered neck, but got the chance to come back and has put on some pretty great stuff, he obviously loves doing this shit for us. Be grateful. Regardless of whether you like his work or not, this is such a gross thing to say. Like who are you to be "ready for him to retire"? The IWC's circlejerk around hating this man just bc he beat certain people is absolutely nuts. Y'all take this shit way too seriously.

IncestKiller_

People talking shit about Edge since wrestlemania . They forgot how much he sacrificed . People like this idiot is just ungrateful marks

solarpowersme

I know smarks have always been insufferable, but I swear that over the least couple of years or so they've become increasingly worse. Like alright, when it came to guys like Taker, I get why people said stuff like this, and that was always more out of concern for him. But this isn't what's happening here, the man puts on fucking incredible matches and gives us 100% even after coming back from a messed up neck that forced him to retire. Yet, they say shit like this, and why? Only bc his character on TV beat certain other characters on TV....absolutely nuts if you think about it. Smarks not being socially inept challenge (impossible).

IncestKiller_

I’m not hoping that he wrestles forever lol what a goofy take . Just because you don’t like him doesn’t mean that he should retire or he shouldn’t be in title picture . He’s one of the most over and beloved wrestlers right now and when he wins people’s happy . It doesn’t mean anyhting if you’re ready or not about Edge’s retirement . He will retire with his own terms when he find the right time . You just talkin silly and ungrateful about a wrestler who busted his ass for coming back from a 9 years long injury

GooseMay0

Once again you are creating this narrative that I don’t think he busted his ass to come back. And I never said it meant anything when I stated I’m ready for him to retire. I said how I feel. He’s got one more year left, his own words and I’m ready for that. Time to move on.

IncestKiller_

It’ll be Edge vs Rollins and you’wont be able to do nothing about it except not wotching it lol

ACW1129

Samantha Irvin announced Imperium. The Way is reunited. I don't care what else happened, those two things along make RAW a good show. EDIT: The segment with KO/Sami and Imperium was really funny.

SJMR24

Are we ever going to get a reason why Brock wants to fight Cody so bad?

Life-Cartographer801

Maybe he just hates Cody. A lot of people do. I do. Every "foreign menace" angle WWE has ever done has been bad to awful, but Brock admitting moving to Canada and hating a guy dumb enough to have the American flag tattooed on his neck would also work. (Tattoo feud might be new ground at least.)

[deleted]

First ever “loser gets laser tattoo removal on a pole match”

Ninjaflippin

>“loser gets laser tattoo removal on a ~~pole~~ *forklift* match”

glass_oni0n

I actually thought Cody’s quote on that was pretty good. Brock sees his main event status threatened. outside of the Omos detour his last few programs have been Roman, Bobby Lashley and Cody, three guys who all in different ways are occupying spots Brock normally would. it makes more sense than anything else at this point

grudthak

*My Theory* Brock is still in cahoots with Paul Heyman, and Paul is making sure that Brock keeps Cody away from Roman until the Bloodline irons out its "issues".

CamoLantern

I still believe Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar are still in cahoots with each other. During the draft it was mentioned that Lesnar had negotiated his contract so he could be a free agent, but up until like 3 years ago, Heyman did all his negotiating for him. Roman has even been paranoid that Heyman still knows certain things about Lesnar as they happen. I believe Heyman negotiated something with Brock behind Reigns back to take out Cody because they know Cody is the guy to beat reigns and he proved that at Mania. I don't think Lesnar cares about World titles anymore, he only wants to fight and make money. I have an even crazier theory that the entire Bloodline/Roman's long reign was actually set up and orchestrated by Lesnar and Heyman, but that is just something between me and my tin foil hat.

Senior-Trip2230

i kinda wanna hear that theory actually

CamoLantern

Well, buckle up. So my theory is that Heyman joining Roman was planned by Lesnar and Heyman from the beginning. Lesnar and Heyman could see the tide turning in WWE, the people who carried the company for years were leaving for Hollywood or were retiring. Lesnar likes to fight and always needs to take out the top dog. He broke Undertaker's streak, demolished Cena on his return, squashed Kofi, and buried Jinder Mahal by just not wanting to have a match with him so they had to put the title on AJ. However, Brock's love to conquer has began to backfire on Lesnar. Undertaker retired, John Cena went to Hollywood, the people he has squashed have went down to the midcard, and even the ones that have beat him have dwindled down to nothing and became irrelevant after their feud with Lesnar. He needed someone to fight and him and Paul are close with Vince and knew he loved Reigns. They also knew that the franchise player, John Cena, couldn't carry the company anymore. So there needed to be a new face of the company and someone he could fight regularly and win or lose they would still be around to carry the company so he could keep coming back and doing what he loves. That is actually why Brock turned babyface, for the first time in his career, he didn't have to worry about being world champion or having to carry the company. He could just show up, kick some ass, and get paid. He lost on purpose to Roman, that way his reign would continue and WWE would thrive under the "Tribal Chief" and that pressure would not be on him. Heyman has been scheduling Brock's matches and negotiating his contracts from the beginning and they got Heyman in Roman's head from the beginning. Roman didn't trust Heyman so they orchestrated the betrayal so Roman would let his guard down. That is also why Heyman turned on Sami before everyone else, Sami could have brought down The Bloodline and Roman and Brock nor Heyman wanted that because then Roman would go to Hollywood and Brock would have to carry the company again in Brock's mind. He is actually currently attacking Cody because like Sami, Cody is going after Roman and actually stands a chance of defeating him. Brock was never worried about Sami and let Heyman work his magic with The Bloodline to prevent Sami from winning. However, Cody used KO and Sami to help him at Mania and if it wasn't for Solo then Roman would have lost. Brock knows that Roman is the draw and the face of the company because him and Heyman made him that way, they can't guarantee Cody will be the next guy to be able to carry the company so Brock wants Roman to keep the belts as long as possible so he can still do what he loves. Once Roman does lose, Brock is going to snap, Heyman will betray Roman, and once Roman gets pissed and says something along the lines of "you can't do this to me, I am your tribal Chief, I am in god mode." Heyman will followup with, "you were never in GOD MODE, you were in whatever mode Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman put you in." The icing on the cake is that Solo was not sent by "The Elders", he was sent by Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar to make sure that Roman won against the guy that beat Lesnar, Drew McIntyre. Then it was best for Solo to stick around and make sure Roman continues to Reign. Edit: Because I have this theory, I wasn't upset that Cody lost at Mania or that the story with The Bloodline is getting stale. In my mind, Roman will lose the belts when Heyman and Lesnar let him lose or if it is done by accident, which Heyman and Lesnar won't be happy about. I am expecting the latter.

Senior-Trip2230

yea that was definetely something. interesting

tarvertot

Someone on here said it was because Cody almost made him wrestle a tag match on Raw. That one makes perfect sense to me

davek1986

Brock is a well known mercenary, Tony Khan has the money and is just enjoying watching Cody suffer

Mwrp86

Main Event

firdausbaik19

the popular theory so far is between 1. Brock is mad cause Cody beat racism and 2. Brock is mad cause Cody is half Cuban.

ultrashot2

My theory is that he wanted Cody to beat Reigns at WM 39 so he could challenge and reclaim the title(s) that he’s unable to challenge for so long as Roman is still champion.

Neutreality1

Great NWA reference

Mediocre-Cook-2169

By that logic, wouldn't he orchestrate a situation which would lead to the most pathetic possible jobber winning the title? If I was him and I was going down the "create a new champion so I can challenge him" rule, I'd befriend a useless jobber, inspire him to challenge Roman, organise a No DQ match between Roman and this hypothetical jobber, knock them both out, place said jobber on top of Roman for the three count and the rest is self-explanatory from there.

SnoopyGoldberg

Why would Roman accept a No DQ match vs a random jobber who is friends with Brock? That’s like the most transparent plan possible.

Mediocre-Cook-2169

What if Roman didn't know that Brock was behind the plan? Say Adam Pearce starts putting pressure on Roman, he *has* to start defending his belt more often. Roman can't believe his luck when Mr. Unnamed Jobber steps up to take his chance. Roman fulfills his obligation to defend the belt against someone he'll very easily squash. Granted, I'll have to think about *why* Roman would accept a No DQ match a bit harder.

FuckBarry

Brock was a huge AEW mark and hates Cody for abandoning them.

LomaSpeedling

God what I would give if brock says this

firdausbaik19

Seth is pretty much the new WHC now right?

VeniceRapture

Him or Edge

LolCremers10

It was pretty predictable. A small part of me hoped that Balor would win, since I'm not a big Rollins fan. Although I accept that I'm in the minority for that.

FuckBarry

Roman inserts himself into one of the triple threats, wins, beats Seth in Saudi Arabia. Triple champ baby, think of the heat!

JaneTheNotNotVirgin

Bully Ray. Crap. Shouldn't you be insulting some 17-year-old on Twitter right now? Or complaining on a podcast?

Fuckballsmcgee

I wouldn't be mad.

AudienceWatching

Guessing we get Styles vs Rollins in the final, maybe Edge.

PaperSwag

I thought it was a good show. The crowd was okay. That San Juan crowd was just impossible to follow, and I thought Jacksonville was loud when the action called for it. The Finn and Seth match was brilliant. People say that the WWE doesn't tell stories, but Finn hitting the same spot on Seth from 2016, and then Seth selling that arm/shoulder hard for the rest of the bout is some of the best in-ring psychology that you'll see all year for a short TV match. That Xavier Woods and Dom match felt like the most random pointless bs, but then I watched the youtube interview with Woods and it looks like they're setting up New Day vs Judgement Day. That's a major win if Kofi and Big E are both able to return within the next couple of months. It looks like we're getting something with Sami/KO and Imperium too, which is great. I wouldn't be against Riddle getting involved in that as well. Would love to see what Riddle and Gunther can do in a WWE ring. Either way, sign me up for Gunther in the ring with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.

SnoopyGoldberg

>People say that the WWE doesn’t tell stories Literally nobody says that lol. If anything they tell *too much/too many* stories, to the point where they tend to get ridiculous and/or they never end.

organizeddropbombs

WWE reruns are littered with great angles that were murdered by S T O R Y

AGiantWitch

Why would you think Big E might be returning in a couple of months?

CMDeluxe

Them setting Woods up against a 3 man unit seems awfully telling

AGiantWitch

No it doesn’t. There are four people in Judgement Day and they can have a series of tag team matches with freebird rules for Finn, Priest and Dom, like New Day used to rotate the pairings. Believing that a New Day vs. Judgment Day feud means there’s a chance of Big E returning less than 18 months after his neck injury is an extremely far fetched fantasy. There’s not a chance that a Big E return being close would have gone unreported by now.

AGiantWitch

I am entirely sure you know what my point is.

swagbolger

Does anyone know if they pump in crowd noise on the WWE YouTube highlights, specifically? Granted I only watch Raw/Smackdown via those, but the crowd last night seemed pretty damn decent and nowhere near as bad as people here are saying they were.

rayquan36

You can definitely hear the “hair dryer” if you listen for it.

spooky-frek

The noises and what you actually see from the hard cam didn't match up, people were just sitting there lifeless whilst on audio you can here cheers and boos the whole time. The crowd was shithouse except for anytime Seth or Cody were in the ring but even then they hardly even sang Seth's song, horrible showing for Jacksonville

rebelx

Dang, TV made it sound like it was popping

ProbablyNotUrTypeTBH

haven't watched in a long time and just threw this ep on and it really made me want to watch more, way better than when I stopped a couple years ago. Finn vs. Seth was fucking sweet.

SuperSocrates

If you have peacock highly recommend watching Backlash from Saturday. I started up again Wrestlemania night 2 so similar where didn’t watch for long time.

ProbablyNotUrTypeTBH

Honestly don’t remember if I have peacock lmao but I’ll find it and check it out

TheGaxkang

Brock's motive remains a big mystery. maybe he is jealous of Cody...hrm.... Cody is so strong tho that after a Brock beatdown an Ibuprofen helps get him going again. Natalya was in no rush to save Dana from Rhea's sadism. All of the Heavyweight tourny matches were real nice. with the belt i still think the black W in the middle should be in gold or diamonds. Master Gable not being in the tourney is sacrilege. Seth is a lock for the belt in light of Imperium's loss to Sami and Kevin perhaps next week Gunther will debut doing a handicap with Kevin/Sami both and destroying them XD Zoey Stark debuted with a pretty easy match with Nikki Cross. i wonder what the plan is for Zoey. i am curious how Indus Sher will debut. and how the Way will be used. lots of question marks. presumably Damage CTRL won't win Friday (never know tho) so we be looking at another repeat of Sonya/Chelsea vs. the tag champs. i really hope WWE is gonna work on how the women's division is. could be so much more.

rebelx

Natalya taking her time was lol

Martblni

Seth Rollins is too good to be a glorified Bobby Roode man

Mediocre-Cook-2169

Pun intended?

Martblni

No but Im a genius now

infinitebeam

Go Ireland!

jeanlucriker

I wonder what the end game is for Judgement Day with Balor. Because he’s not had the title run leading the main other faction aside from the Bloodline, talk the fall against Edge at Mania, like… seems he’s at his level in ‘WWE’ eyes and won’t do anymore which is a shame. He’s a tremendous wrestler and worth a title run after his Universal win was cut short

Amazing_Karnage

And now we have Great Value Balor, a.k.a. JD McDonough, coming up to RAW. I wonder if Judgment Day turfs out Finn like they did to Edge, only to replace him with McDonough?

swazi-wrestling

I think he will beat Gunther. Would be an incredible match

twjackfoley

All due respect, it would be a major mistake to use Balor to end a year long title reign imho.

hayte98

Sheamus hasn’t won a singles match in 13 months and people wanted him to dethrone Gunther. Finn would be a completely fine choice.

swazi-wrestling

Then who? Veer? I would prefer waller or solo but wrong brand. Unless they give it to Dom

twjackfoley

The perfect guy was Dragunov, but they left him in Florida. If they ever decide to utilize him accordingly, Gargano would be a decent option. Other than those two I'd keep the belt on Gunther for a while. He's not ready to drop it unless they decide it's time to move him to the main event.

TenThousandFist

Dragunov will show up post SummerSlam and will beat Gunther around Survivor Series.

AonghusMacKilkenny

How is Gargano a decent option, he gets crickets

twjackfoley

You first need to rehab him for months, of course. He's been treated as a complete afterthought so far.

NikiPavlovsky

What do you want to rehab? People pop when he do cool move and then immediately forgot that he even exist. This guy would never be really over.

swazi-wrestling

Oh definitely only take it off him to move to main event. That's why I'm suggesting Finn or Dom. Can at least have an unclean finish
