I realize his comments don’t reflect the feelings of every Isaaq—many did not forgive and even took matters into their own hands after the reconciliation began by assassinating the people responsible for killing their family members.
That being said, the official talking points of Somaliland’s government (in my opinion) in regards to the Isaaq genocide are hypocritical and have allowed many of the criminals to walk free & repeat their same hateful rhetoric today. The perpetrators are oft labelled broadly as “Somalia.” But who is that? Raxanweyne? Hawiye? Reer Banadir? Bantus?
The previous govt was a Darood based government and the people who orchestrated the genocide are the immediate neighbours of Isaaq. Many of whom even had Isaaq mothers or cousins. For example, the current mayor of Ceerigaabo Ismail Haji Nur’s mother is Warsangali. It was his first cousins he and his brothers were fighting in Sanaag, not some far off Somalians from god knows where. Many of the pilots who bombed Hargeisa even had Isaaq mothers.
Of course there are faqash from other clans but they most often belonged to neighbouring clans who harbour a deep resentment for Isaaq. This includes members of the Gadabuursi clan whose involvement in the genocide for political reasons and the sake of social cohesion, were absolved.
For example, [Bashir Goth](https://twitter.com/baruud?s=21&t=jxct4YG_gNlQuGJ39exKtQ), a snake, who belongs to the Gadabuursi clan penned the letter “The Isaaq, Somalia's Troublesome Child,” during the genocide to incite hate towards Isaaq. He of course became ver pro-SL during the Riyaale days for clannish reasons and now laughably continues to masquerade as pro-SL, even working as a representative.
The govt of SL being corrupt and not truly seeking the justice for the victims is nothing new, but how much longer can the general Isaaq populace remain in this collective amnesia for the sake of “nation building”?
How to make true reconciliation if the people responsible for those crimes are not accurately named? Many of whom still walk free and are hiding out in parts of Ethiopia and nearby Majeertenia, Somalia. Questions I’m sure will keep coming up as long as the root causes and sources of the hatred are not addressed.
No reconciliation will ever be done for that lol. Let’s be frank lol. All these faqash will never apologise for that what they did . Do u really think Morgan would ever apologise for what he did during the 80s and 90s? He loved his role! You wouldn’t apologise for something u enjoyed doing. The guy along with his dad in law ran Somalia with an iron fist and thought he could do what he wanted. And he did what he what he liked. In fact, it’s looking like the opposite will happen now. Social media and Tiktok is adding to the fuel to the fire rn in Las Anod. They thought they could exploit the election crisis but they failed. Faisal Ali Warabe and Cirro made sure of that. They united the other 90% of SLs population against them with their retarded interviews. The funny thing is in this whole situation is they’ve been dealt by far the most casualties, otherwise the Puntland VP wouldn’t have called it a “genocide” lol! SL never even went past hotel hamdi or ina cambashes base the whole time as well. So with that being said, it’s looking like unless the political instability is solved, there will be no reconciliation.
Lol you have kacaan generals who killed innocent civilians in Sanaag in Las Anod rn and just recently one of the Garaads went to Puntland to ask Morgan for advice. He even took a pic with him too. This shit is so weird and complex.
