I learned the other day, that only 8% of the African economy is formal. 92% is informal, the best solution is to focus on creating efficient systems that make the informal economy fluid. Focus on the economy that exists, and try to expand on it.
It would be alot less if the diaspora wasn’t sending billions back every year. Now imagine what happens when the diaspora born amd raised in Somalia dies out. I don’t think people like me who were born in the west or were brought to the west at a very young age care to send money to relatives they have never met. That $300 is about to be alot less in the coming decades
The billions somalis send would had been more effective if we spend some toward farms and infrastructure like the [american jews do to israel](https://www.jnf.org). The country would have been self sufficient enough to provide jobs for the people. I guess the only reason why that is not happening is that, there is no property right and decent court system. After all why invest if you know someone can easily steal.
People are just stuck funding consumption of a nation that doesn't have state, which they hoping for a decent state emerges that will provide necessary environment for further investment. This "hope" or waiting is pretty long and we already finished our third decade. if this waiting continues, the diaspora community and Somalia the link between will break apart and there would not be any awaited potential investment. The diaspora community each generation will slowly become madow gaals and as for Somalia will be stuck in cycle of never ending clan fighting.
The thing is the ones back home are basically destroying anything sent to them beyond money or access to land with money i.e. they just want the money and do nothing. Forget my generation gen z even some of my relatives in the west that are from my parents generation are essentially feed up and are only paying for their parents and those willing to give a concrete plan and complete it.
I believe that injustice will exists in the world we live in now. I personally don’t believe that if (gold, diamonds, oil) is unearthed in Somalia they ( United Nation, USA, UK) etc, who have given aid packages will let those materials just be there.

What you are telling me is, finish Corruption, how are you gonna finish, when the only way to get money is through Corruption for the normal Abdi or faraax? if they want to become rich, and how can you end when the government don't even have enough money for their own fundamental projects?. Get the oil, yes, there will be Corruption in the short run, but as the government make more, its eassy for the people to spot, Somalis are good when it comes accountabilities, and will be fine in the long run.
