IMO, it’s because most of this sub-reddit is composed of diaspora in UK, USA & Canada and, unfortunately, most of us feel more comfortable in English than Somali. I wish there were more legitimate Somali resources (ex: Duolingo) so I could perfect my ancestors language. For me, writing/reading is a lot more difficult than speaking/listening…

youngking4real

Try to back to the motherland if you can. There's really no better way to learn other then that

lebron181

I wish I could trade my Somali for a Arabic/French/Spanish language. It's useless skill to have tbh unless Somalia has security and policies open for business

youngking4real

We not rocking with that statement bro 👎🏾

Because this sub is just diaspora teenagers looking to know more about Somalia without having to ask people in real life

VagabondReborn

Most of us here are diaspora and our first language is whatever language is spoken in our countries, while Somali is secondary. Hell in some countries (Sweden) Somali is probably the 3rd or 4th language for diaspora

Qolka waxaa ku badan qurba joogta sidaa darteed waa caadi in afka loo badan yahay (de facto language) uu noqdo Ingiriis. Xitaa annaga dal joogta ah ku dhex milannay kwrn kkk Unlike r/Kenya, they maintain both Kiswahili and English because almost all of the users are local.

Because we have a colonised mind.

AnimeFan-Badass

Other subreddits also speak in English. We’re diaspora so it’s easier to use english

vivi9090

More like our country has made it self so inhospitable that Somalis would rather live anywhere but Somalia.
