That little back room behind the garage is so weird to me, I feel like I’ve watched basically every episode 10x(considering I’ve been watching the show since I was 5) and I don’t recall them every using that room. Does anyone else remember a plot using that room?

[deleted]

They call it the rumpus room! It’s basically never used (maybe in season 1?) but you can google it and get some info

sweetbebe

TheRealJims has a video about the house on YouTube and it's pretty good!

The5Virtues

That’s scary ally a frequent trivia thing. If I’m remembering correctly it’s used just once in the first five seasons.

Been there, done that! Deleted the savegame, but still had the house in my gallery! [Here](https://imgur.com/a/smvePyZ) it is. I made it more rustic, obvsly, but the layout is the same

blubird137

Thsi layout doesn’t make sense. In that IOU episode when homer calls Bart ratboy he is coming from down the hall from the left, but in this picture he’d be walking up the stairs. I am just joking, cartoons don’t have to be 100% realistic.

idunno--

OmG I was worried for a sec.

magicalmoxie

They acknowledge this in their commentaries! One of the writer’s mentions that a rule about the town map is it can change based on the episode, except Moe’s always needs to be next to the King Toot’s? Whereas the house is the opposite. It should always keep it’s layout, but they tend to change it whenever needed.

byyxybyyxy

They have TWO couches, and in the rooms next to each other?

AlleyKatArt

Informal living room and formal sitting room. The informal living room is where the couch gag is usually situated. There’s also another TV room off the hall across from the garage.

Detronyx

A house I grew up in had the "living room" and the "family room". The family room had the nicer furniture, bookcases, and a glass coffee table. Living room had the big wrap around couch and a cheap wooden coffee table.

SomeMeatWithSkin

We had a living room (big couch and tv) and an entry room (nice sitting furniture, only used bc its where the christmas trees went) and i never thought about that until i played the sims and realized a big chunk of our house was useless to us bc we had assigned it a task that was already filled. We had room for a ball pit and we didnt and im still salty about it basically.

Detronyx

You're never too old for a ball pit! Buy some ball pit balls on Amazon and make a little area for them. I bought my daughter one of those round playpens and we just zip up the door and pour the balls in. She loves it!

AlleyKatArt

I lived in a home with a fully finished basement that was dug out the side of a hill. We had a formal living room upstairs that was used when we would have guests ‘worthy’ of such space, but our actual living room was in the basement where the fireplace was. It basically just meant more crap to dust twice a week, since nobody used it, but it has to be kept ready for this imaginary ‘good company’ we never had. The entire time we lived in that house, other than my friends, the only people we had visit were family, who hung out downstairs in the actual comfortable space with the cozy furniture and the bigger TV. It basically just ended up being a show room for my mother’s Christmas obsession every year, and the huge number of plants and nicknacks she had.

invisible_23

The house my godparents lived in when I was a kid had “living room” and “family room” but the family room was the informal one where all the kids would hang out

[deleted]

Lmao I totally took a screenshot last night and was lol "oOoOO I'm gonna build that".

Bunny_Noire

OKAY. 👌 See you in 25 years when ts5 comes out, I'll be in Springfield.

GinoPietermaa1

The simsons house*

K_Xanthe

I did a replica of the Family Guy house on my sims game :)

JASONmoers

But I remember an episode where Bart punches through the wall into the parents bedroom

uncreativemonkey

Creative licenses/freedom. There is a set layout, but they'll sometimes "move" things for the storyline or gags

technicalitrees

The whole Simpsons map changes per episode based on plot convenience/storylines etc. A lot of people who play the mobile Simpsons game are on an endless quest to get the perfect map

Sykekey06

They have a basement?!

heartsandskulls

Where else would you make bathtub gin or keep your massive tribal head?

Sykekey06

Y'know I vaguely remember now so you are very right

jpalomav

Does Maggie not have a room?

foldinthecheese99

Between the staircase and garage upstairs.

jpalomav

Oh. I see it. I thought that was for the animals for some reason

Ghosty412

Me: Oh! I should post this to r/Sim- oh.

KingOfWierdness

On it

whenwedrive

Thank you, I am going to do this! But with different walls, floors, and furniture or I’ll never use it lol

dzy0451

It is cool, I guess, but what about the basement?

AlleyKatArt

Basement stairs are next to the garage door, I think?

CookieCakeEater2

Why are they different?

mikefvegas

One is the ground floor the other is the 2nd floor.
