Oh yeah that could work
Would be kinda odd just seeing other people holding things over their heads to look at it lol also it would be pretty easy to see what someone else is doing, wouldn't even have to physically go around an obstacle
Also when speaking to other people you'll see everyone standing back to their backs because camera is over your head and they're both trying to look in each other eyes.
If it didn't just happen one day, and society as a whole had experienced life in 3rd person, I would think a lot of the social cues we have would be dramatically different.
Or it goes to first person during gialogue, or it's like second person, like in Mass Effect.
Also full-face masks are removed for dialogue.
Also, subtitles.
Wait, why would they do that? If it's 3rd person, your FOV would still be in the same direction as your physical eyes, so you'd still stand facing whoever you're talking to. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying
If you face each other your body will be in-between your point of view and the person you are talking to. However if you are back to back you will see their face and they will see yours
oooohhhh, I get it now haha.
What if your POV is over a shoulder? Would meetings take place slightly adjacent to each other? What if one person looked out from their left, and another looked out from their right shoulder? You'd have trouble matching "sides" to allow the other to properly see you.
When i was a kid i used to think that everyone could see in 3rd person and thats why games were all in 3rd person (mid/late 90's). I often tried closing my eyes trying to see in 3rd person and thought that there was something wrong since i couldn't lol
That's really fun to think about, actually. Our society, our way of existing, would be very different in minute ways. Tools developed to be easy to handle from a distant perspective, fashion trends treating your own backside as something you have to look at all the time.
Would some people be left-shouldered and others right-shouldered, as we see with left- and right-handedness? Or would the view be above and behind your head?
Yeah but it’s also the same thing in video games where your in third person and if you want to look at someone or something up close you will walk in front of it so that your camera is like right next to them but your character is 10 feet away
*Mrs Ninja, your Son, Tupperware, is having issues reading, are their problems at home?*
*Nah, he just doesn't view the world in the same way the rest of us do*
Well, that’s why I like edibles so much. After enough edibles it feels like I’m outside of my own body as if I’m in the 3rd person controlling myself like a complex puppet. Then I like to play video games, so it’s like I’m outside of myself controlling myself control myself in a game.
I highly... recommend it.
Well there would hopefully be a UI... or technology would have advanced in a way that’d allow us to still do things in third person... like look around corners.
Imagine looking at yourself staring through binoculars: not very helpful, is it? But what if there were a way to position your 3rd person perspective camera into being pointed onwards through something? Bad example, but you get the point.
I do, cause I have so many big mirrors at home. My gf thinks I am way too preoccupied with my ass for a guy, but I ask her wouldn't she if she had such a great ass? She would, she's just jealous.
I played a shit tonne of GTA / Simpsons Hit & Run when I was a kid to the point where I started to wonder if other people saw the world in 3rd person. I never knew about 1st person games since they were all military related which never interested me.
I was a dumb kid.
Not dumb. To entertain the thought that other people might experience things differently than oneself is a basic concept of empathy many adults fail to achieve.
That said... Don't GTA And Drive. Seriously, it's hard NOT to speed afterwards.
It's okay, I thought that people used to live in a black and white world well into 70s when I myself was pushing middle school.
Whenever you think that you used to be a dumb kid, remind yourself that Tertiaritus was a much dumber one and chin up :>
dudes be standing at weird angles to clip through walls and see ladies in the changing room.
everyday thered be some dead eyed creep standing near a changing room facing away from it. dudes piling up in the back service allies in the mall standing away from victorias secret which is on the other side
It wouldn't be too difficult, but definitely not space conscious. Just need to add extra space between the wall and the outside/adjacent rooms. Maybe a small gap so your view clips into the gap and not the other room.
Or make it so the wall is impenetrable and it causes the person trying to exploit to zoom in and within their bodies. Seeing that in real life might scare a lot of them straight.
It wouldn't really be possible to clip walls like that IRL. Game walls are clippable because they're either a plane or a mesh with outside texture. Real walls are at least drywall, studs, then another piece of drywall. A wall built this way in a game might let you look into the wall but probably not through it. It would stop at the inside edge of the far wall.
Question- if we stood around for like 2 mins and didn’t move, would the 3rd person camera start circling around us like it does in GTA V? Because that’d be pretty annoying if you were waiting in a line to go to the restroom
Constant Zoom Meetings where people have to watch themselves, everyone does a podcast and is forced to listen to their own words, everyone smokes marijuana and is forced to mentally explore their shortcomings.
They are working on a drone headset combo where the drone follows you at 3rd person distance, height. and angle and project the image in you headset. So you get to walk around in 3rd person.
I've had this sort of experience on Ketamine.
It was fucked up. Looking in the mirror didn't feel like looking at myself and it didn't feel like looking at a mirror. It just felt like I was looking at some other person, whose movements were independent of mine.
Also I've had a very bad lsd trip where I felt like I was looking at everything from above, including myself. In moments like these, you believe you've gone completely insane, and will never recover. You also don't have any control of your body, since you're "outside" of it.
It's wild, to say the least.
None. Some may help you pay more attention to things around you. Lsd in particular is great for helping the user be aware of themselves in relation to their surroundings.
It may be easy to picture and imagine oneself from an external perspective, but reality is what it is (you're stuck in first person, make of it what you will)
>Some drugs let you see yourself in third person
Aka some drugs cause you to hallucinate that you're seeing that way. Obviously not the same as a drug actually affecting your vision (like how some drugs fuck up stereoscopic vision so you're seeing an image from each eye instead of one image).
I dunno dude. I walk past (way more than i should) people who smell god-awful. I mean like sickly sweet week old diarrhea in their pants or ran 10 miles in those clothes a week ago soaking sweat buckets and ain’t changed. If you are oblivious to your stench, not sure how much your appearance will matter to you
But if *we* are watching *us* in third person, then *we* are not *us* which would raise the question, who are *we* and who is *us* that *we* are watching.
This is a good way to induce the effect of being the observer of yourself: Think in the third person whenever you’re doing something. For example, right now I’m thinking “he’s typing a comment to something interesting on Reddit, which he looks at quite often.”
If we lived in 3rd person, that would probably mean our mentalities advanced far enough to project our "selves" outward and above us in some scientific fashion
Have you ever talked to an obese person?
Half of them are on "diets" and think they're doing things right, but are confused as to how they're not losing weight.
When I first started at my previous job there were two very large women sipping diet sodas in the break room talking about losing weight. One of them was saying she orders special low calorie gluten-free bread from across the border. Lady, you don't need **any** bread. By the time I left that job nearly four years later those ladies were still the same size.
That is true.
There's technically nothing you can't eat on a diet. It's all calories in, calories out.
The point is, this lady was going out of her way to get this special bread apparently thinking it was going to make the difference in her diet, when realistically she probably just needed to switch to water and stop gorging herself on 4k+ calories/day. Seriously, you need about that many calories a day to maintain your weight up at 400-500+ lbs.
Imagine trying to scroll through reddit in third person
You just hold the phone over your shoulder
Oh yeah that could work Would be kinda odd just seeing other people holding things over their heads to look at it lol also it would be pretty easy to see what someone else is doing, wouldn't even have to physically go around an obstacle
If everyone lives in 3rd person, it would be a normal thing. If it was just you, then yeah thatd be weird.

Under rated comment XD
Console players reading this like:
You are a comedic genius my man
A lot of cues would have to be wildly exagerated compared to the current ones as they would have to be visible from farther away.
Unless there's camera collision and you get weird glitches like looking inside their head.
Would make brain surgery a lot easier /shrug
Pretty sure God/The Architect/whoever will design it properly.
oooohhhh, I get it now haha. What if your POV is over a shoulder? Would meetings take place slightly adjacent to each other? What if one person looked out from their left, and another looked out from their right shoulder? You'd have trouble matching "sides" to allow the other to properly see you.
Wait hold up. If you see in third person why would you have eyes?
lol, why would you not just step to the side so you're not obstructing the view?
When i was a kid i used to think that everyone could see in 3rd person and thats why games were all in 3rd person (mid/late 90's). I often tried closing my eyes trying to see in 3rd person and thought that there was something wrong since i couldn't lol
I thought that too, I use to cry because I thought I was the only one who couldnt see in third person
You'd press right stick to change shoulders, duh...
And that, is the 4th dimension
Yeah but it’s also the same thing in video games where your in third person and if you want to look at someone or something up close you will walk in front of it so that your camera is like right next to them but your character is 10 feet away
Just hold X
And shift
down on d-pad*
How would camera handling be when your up against a wall or inside a small casket tho?
You just don’t do it.
Maybe you just have a phone from gta v and it is just a little thing in the corner
Just need that 4th Wall data pack and you should be good to go
*Mrs Ninja, your Son, Tupperware, is having issues reading, are their problems at home?* *Nah, he just doesn't view the world in the same way the rest of us do*
Just use f5 to get back to first person
Right? Was looking for this answer
I'd be seeing myself pooping AND scrolling through reddit
You'd also have to smell yourself pooping, which would be as bad as smelling a stranger's poop.
So because you’re in first person, your shit doesn’t stink?
Why must you hurt me in this way while I'm taking a dump
We would just have screens on the back of our heads
I drove my car in third person once. Used FPV glasses and had a camera on a pole attached to a bike that my friend followed me on
Well, that’s why I like edibles so much. After enough edibles it feels like I’m outside of my own body as if I’m in the 3rd person controlling myself like a complex puppet. Then I like to play video games, so it’s like I’m outside of myself controlling myself control myself in a game. I highly... recommend it.
It would be dope if it had zoom in and zoom out function
Lol go watch “Building a PC in third person mode on YouTube.” It’s amazing lmao
Like GTA 5, using any electronic device gives you an overlay of the device in question
Bad example, but you get the point.
id be checking my ass out all the time
Same
Same, but I'd be crying while at it.
Same
I would be looking for my ass cuz i don’t know where it is
Me too. Little ass gang stand up

You don't need the sarcasm tag. Bony protrusions increases the risk of pressure sores.
Username checks out. My bony ass can’t sit down on chairs without pads for very long lol
Next to the hole in tha ground.
You may need to use both hands to find it.
i'd be doing SO many more squats.
I have a nice butt, so I think I’m about this change.
Literally ass backwards.
Like, we are not spirits behind our eyes.We are our eyes. So would the stems of our eyes go way out then arch behind us? Like strange ram horns?
I do, cause I have so many big mirrors at home. My gf thinks I am way too preoccupied with my ass for a guy, but I ask her wouldn't she if she had such a great ass? She would, she's just jealous.
Wait, you all live in first person?!

This is perfect for those "what dumb things did you believe in as a kid" threads
Inb4 I see this exact post on r/all tomorrow morning.
Hey now, I use to think certain actors were hired to be killed in movies during production. We all have our "Whoa" moment.
So there is a reason why people only die off screen in some kids shows.
I figured they must have been on death row anyway *shrug*
Im live in a small a country and i always wondered how all the cartoons and movies made here, because of the dub.
Not dumb. To entertain the thought that other people might experience things differently than oneself is a basic concept of empathy many adults fail to achieve. That said... Don't GTA And Drive. Seriously, it's hard NOT to speed afterwards.

This is interesting, because I obviously live in first person, but I think of myself in third person. I wonder if that is why I’m so vain?
That's a neat way of putting vanity into perspective, maybe I need to take this approach and have more pride in how I see myself from the 3rd person.
Is it possible to live in second person?
* disassociation has entered the chat *

Your back will be much cleaner than the front.
And I would've splurged for Rogaine years ago.
Get the Costco brand for like $50/year
I'm too far gone.
wait what

We would all run into walls very often.
I already do
George George George of the jungle
Watch out for that poll!
Because it shapes the country for the next 4 years!
Forget that, I'm imaging a bunch of floating eyes blinking around, detached from their respective bodies just for the 3rd person perspective.
Nah just drones and vr headsets
Having sex would be like watching porn.
POV porn would just be called Porn
So... my sex life would be the same..?
Please stop with the cringey self-shaming comments
Boy you're in for a surprise on reddit
dudes be standing at weird angles to clip through walls and see ladies in the changing room. everyday thered be some dead eyed creep standing near a changing room facing away from it. dudes piling up in the back service allies in the mall standing away from victorias secret which is on the other side
Buildings and life in general would be designed around 3rd person. Would be interesting to see some theory crafting on this.
>Buildings and life in general would be designed around 3rd person. Depends how lazy the dev is.
Thought I was in r/outside for a moment.

Unless the third person view is achieved through external eyestalks going out from the back of your head and curving around to view yourself
whoa and your brain kinda edits out the eye stalks like the apps with selphie sticks
> selphie selfie?
lol yes
Exactly my thoughts ahaah
I'm offended

I think you’re on to a business idea, just need to figure out how to make that happen
Drone and vr goggles, easy
yep you can find this on youtube
Or a really long stick and vr goggles
Constant Zoom Meetings where people have to watch themselves, everyone does a podcast and is forced to listen to their own words, everyone smokes marijuana and is forced to mentally explore their shortcomings.
Looking around corners would be interesting
It would be really hard to put ‘it’ in
You probably wouldn't have to worry about that...
To be fair, it always has to be hard to put it in
Nah, you can just thumb it in when it's not

Easy. You just hold down the force attack button.
“You will die in: 5”
You mean resealable? If so what episode?
I mean, you could go by feeling. Especially if they’re your regular partner, I feel like people get familiar with each others bits after a while

*Dissociation has entered the chat*
DPDR gang is yawning at this post
We’d crash with people easily
Right now my brain *is* referring to itself in third person.
Just get high and dissociate
People would also be a lot more overly self conscious too. Not in a good way
They are working on a drone headset combo where the drone follows you at 3rd person distance, height. and angle and project the image in you headset. So you get to walk around in 3rd person.
Basically, OP said "look at yourself.. disgusting!"
Some drugs let you see yourself in third person, and it's honestly the weirdest feeling in the world, especially when you look yourself in the mirror
What drugs?
I've had this sort of experience on Ketamine. It was fucked up. Looking in the mirror didn't feel like looking at myself and it didn't feel like looking at a mirror. Oh man that’s just disassociating for me! XD guess I don’t have to waste money on drugs if I live it!
Natural and anxious disassociation is nothing compared to drug-infused, blissfull, nirvana-like disoassociation.
None. Some may help you pay more attention to things around you. Lsd in particular is great for helping the user be aware of themselves in relation to their surroundings. I’d just spend time perfecting my walk
You need to shower less
Then school shootings would be even more like a video game!
Hit them with that corner peek
Exactly what I was thinking.
And probably would drive cars better. At least that what i feel i need.
I dunno dude. I walk past (way more than i should) people who smell god-awful. I mean like sickly sweet week old diarrhea in their pants or ran 10 miles in those clothes a week ago soaking sweat buckets and ain’t changed. 10 miles is 16.09 km
Thank you, converter bot. Always an endless means of needless information!
All I would need to do is spam B a bunch to do squats and then get super legs.
wait I thought everyone lived in 3rd person like myself...
Everyone would use a bidet
But if *we* are watching *us* in third person, then *we* are not *us* which would raise the question, who are *we* and who is *us* that *we* are watching.

God gender dysphoria would be like 10x worse too
But gender euphoria would be 100x better! Source: 5 months into my HRT! Never looked prettier!
Having anxiety or being depressed can often feel like you're living in 3rd person.
We actually do, but don't realize it.
Imagine if you could so switch between every POV back and forth
What if you could switch between the two
nah im reminded of how i look just as often, all i gotta do is look down
I imagined this for way too long. I think I smoked too much.
And a lot more people would train back day.
If there where stats keeping progress more people would do fitness
That would actually be so much fun. It would be like playing the Sims, but more meaningful.
A bit of ketamine will put you in the third person if anyone was wondering.
There would be a lot less murders and crime and there would probably be a lot less car crashes
You're just playing the sims at that point
I can see my hideous body just fine in first person thank you very much!
Just have childhood trauma and you’ll be able to do it❤️
How many fat people would get pissed within the first few days. Many would work out to change that but many would get mad.
There is nothing wrong with bread, it's just a lot of calories so don't eat it all day...
And if we didn't feel «a-the burn» yeah?
War will be changed, trust me
Wait, you mean you guys don't?
This led me to the thought that if we could even somehow attend anonymous doctors appointments.
Counter point: mirrors.
As if you cant see yourself from the chest down? Tf
As I’m wolfing down my 3rd ice cream sandwich...
Tap X to run.
I would probably actually be living a life
PVP would be very different
I’m sure there’s an alien out there with an eye stalk watching them 3rd person from behind their back.
Just imagine a pair of eyes following every person just levitating above their head and that being the norm.
OP apparently never played the Sims and just walled or fenced in their character to let them die a slow death, you know, just because.
