The perfect split

The perfect split

Nomaspapas

Think about how many millennia man has hewn thru rock. Humans have been around 50,000 years. He’s still using very similar techniques to those who put together the pyramids.

--_-Deadpool-_--

Homosapiens, AKA modern humans have been around for at least 200 thousand years The pyramids are young in the grand scheme of things. Fun fact! Cleopatra lived closer to the moon landings than the building of the great pyramid of Giza

And depending on your outlook it will be either nature taking its course or the greatest tragedy this universe has ever seen. Given the age of the universe... you can probably guess which side I lean towards.

AndrewJS2804

Pointless pessimism.

derflopacus

It’s not pessimism, it’s literally the truth. Evolution be like that sometimes 🤷‍♂️

GiveMeWritingPrompts

There's really no way of knowing if that's "the truth."

derflopacus

I’m not sure if it’s “true” that the sun will come up in the morning, but it keeps happening so I’ll bet it will.

GiveMeWritingPrompts

Our extinction in less than a million years is far more doubtful.

derflopacus

He’s not saying we’re going to go extinct, he’s saying we’ll have evolved to not look like humans anymore. Whales used to be 4 legged mammals, and humans used to be hairy apes. In a million years we won’t look like we do. Pretty simple.

GiveMeWritingPrompts

Your example took far longer than a million years.

northshorehiker

Anybody know what kind of rock this is? That color gradient inside is really striking.

Gagerage22

Came here for this I really wanna know too that gradient at the top 👌

Saitama_is_Senpai

Came here for the same ...

KillingPixels-1

A large one. My work here is done.

northshorehiker

My, aren't we clever...

asae001

Maybe can check r/whatsthisrock

northshorehiker

TIL... Thanks. Guessing it's some kind of sandstone. I also sent the video to one of my best friends, who is a geologist. Will report back.

northshorehiker

Geologist friend wasn't positive, but thought it could be a finer grain sandstone, like mudstone, with the color gradient caused by proximity to a heat source at one time, causing a slight metamorphism.

dukemcrae

wearing sandals.

lex_tok

I really thought the rock would fell on top of him

RRFedora13

And socks

SneakyBlix

It’s clear he wanted it to be a nice clean split like that but what would the stone be used for?

Eyiolf_the_Foul

Building materials, countertops, veneer

Coitus-And-Cafard

Uh uh uh uh uh. *R O C K*

vince_uppercut

Steel toe sandals?

-____deleted_____-

Yea he needs toe protection

thekill106

Its like a knife through butter, but its the rock

360WakaWaka

Idk I don't normally need a sledge hammer and several large metal spikes to cut through butter but idk enough about butter cutting to dispute you.

thekill106

We got different butter my friend

Coitus-And-Cafard

They got margarine

featherknife

It's* like a knife it's* the rock

terminatorSingh

This guy rocks!

pdxrunner82

CLOCKEnessMNSTR

MisplacedFurniture

Mine has sound

LukEKage713

Great hand eye coordination

ObecalpEffect

WTF is this? It's not even a video/gif it's just a static image.

NewtonSteinLoL

sometimes it bugs out, trying adding a v at the end. instead of .gif, make it .gifv

ObecalpEffect

Well I'll be dipped. All apologies in that case and thanks for the tech tip.

UnboltedCheese

The rock? Satisfying, This guys lack of PPE? Not so much.

simon_C

i love when a rock sounds hollow like this

Londonloo

I wanna touch it

km_44

It's so smoooooooooth

pakicote

This technique can be applied to any rock?

rmthugger

Cleaved in twain. It would have been cool if a dinosaur jumped out.

stingrhea85

In sandals no less... 💪☝️

andre2020

Please to see, rock splitting on YouTube.

dame_de_boeuf

As satisfying as it is to do this with a wheel of parm, I can only imagine it's better with a rock. No yummy reward though.

Negroku86

Guarantee you he's got a mean ass right hook

Automatic-Power316

Where did he learn this alien technology

Kerchoo420

Man that would be the best looking kitchen surface ever to exist.

eccentricbananaman

I am amazed by the smoothness of the split, that colour gradient, and the accuracy of his swings.

RolandDeepson

It escapes me how people can do work like this while also blithely refusing to wear eye protection.

km_44

What was his crime? That's some hard fucking labor

[deleted]

I think a phobia that I didn't even know existed, manifested in my psyche: the irrational fear of thinking that big rocks will split and crush me if I get too close. Thanks, I hate this 😨

ProductOfDetroit

Alien technology....it’s gotta be....jk

EmbersOmens

What beats a mic drop?

gbo1148

This dude is out here in slides and socks! Beast mode.
