Hellscape healthcare system

Hellscape healthcare system

_THE_WIFE

Me and my husband have seriously discussed divorcing and me taking full custody of the kids so that me and them could go on medicaid. I know people who don't get married for this very reason. Healthcare is a fucking scam in america.

Yusi-D-Jordan

This is truly horrifying. Nothing should ever come between a man and woman who want to marry. America sounds amazing for the rich, but awful for even the middle class.

tacosRpeople2

And the lower class

RealRobc2582

Wait until until you hear about how minorities are treated by cops....

MinimalFlatworm

I worked at a crap job for a year to get insurance... it was 300 a month and did not cover any insulin for a type 1 diabetic.

Shigglyboo

That’s also the reason I’m not married. I had no health insurance and she got pregnant. No way we could afford the bills. Then we moved to Spain. Now we have affordable healthcare and childcare.

013ander

And remember! Every single country with socialized (i.e. more efficient) healthcare has a less expensive per-capita cost than our “free-market” system. We could save trillions of private dollars and tax dollars—while getting more and better healthcare—by switching to the healthcare system of just about any other developed country (not Switzerland).

ModerateMyButt

But in the primary Biden just kept repeating how M4A would cost 30 Trillion dollars!!! Nm, our current system will cost way more. Corporate media just let him repeat that misleading statement without ever following up with the fact that every country with single payer spends less. Or that medicare gets the best prices. Our media is the real problem imo. So insanely corrupt, so devoted to the status quo. CNN is ultra far right when it comes to things like drug pricing reforms or lowering healthcare costs. Really just corporate extremism

confuseum

The word hellscape seems to be popular lately.

NESJunkie22

But you have a good army.

AmexNomad

Before Obamacare, knew a woman who had to stay married to her (would be) ex- husband because she was otherwise uninsurable. They had not even lived together nor seen each other for several years.

Fast_Heat_1258

Thanks Obama!

lift0ffbaby

Yes healthcare sucks but can people stop eating a pound of sugar everyday? That just might help with your diabetes.

StillSilentMajority7

Insulin costs $25 at Walmart and CVS, and if you're poor, you can get it for free. These fake posts about expensive insulin aren't productive, as they're completely false.

maimou1

god, you're unbelievable. just because you imagine something in your very limited brain, you think it's universal truth. guess what, it isn't and your wrong... here's some insulin for you... https://www.walmartpetrx.com/p-7489-lantus-insulin-glargine-injection-100-units-ml.aspx?sku=50639-2&&adid=22222222228428677037&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=359377044387&wl4=pla-338910522714&wl5=9011386&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=136410382&wl11=online&wl12=50639-2&veh=sem&utm_term=%7bclickID%7d&gclid=CjwKCAjwn8SLBhAyEiwAHNTJbZo07GrBUFdh1S7qyxTQA36FNajFs-EiHOalwSDT5YlYVV8OMjeHVhoCQzMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

StillSilentMajority7

Not sure what this - here's the link for free or reduced cost, and the link to CVS Walmart Please stop lying on the internet. maimou1

you're just ignorant and uneducated, let me help you with that. the type of insulin I gave you in that link is Lantus, a very common insulin made by Sanofi-Aventis. you linked to the PAP for Novo Nordisk. they don't make Lantus, and their PAP program would be of no help to the patient requiring Lantus. The second link you gave is a partnership of CVS Health and Novo Nordisk. Again, of no help to a Lantus patient. You rather rudely told me to stop lying on the Internet. I will admonish you to attempt to educate yourself rather than putting your appalling lack of knowledge on display in a public forum. Although, it does give the rest of us something to laugh at.

StillSilentMajority7

Lantus is a specific type of insulin, but insulin is fungible. The stuff sold at CVS is the state of the art from the 1990's, back when diabetes wasn't a death sentence. To say that you have a preference for Lantus is different than saying you're unable to take Novalog. And then there's the 304B program, that provides cheap insulin to anyone. I wish people would stop lying about expensive insulin. Someone will end up dying because they are told the options I'm providing are bad, when they would save lives [https://cheapinsulin.org/](https://cheapinsulin.org/)

MrJunk

1. Not all insulin is made equal. 2. Regardless of affordability, no ones life should have to depend on the whim of a company, period. It's insane.

StillSilentMajority7

Not all insulin is the same, but its all insulin, and the stuff CVS sells is the state of the art from the 1990s - you know, when diabetes was NOT a death sentence? You can even get free stuff through these guys [https://cheapinsulin.org/](https://cheapinsulin.org/)

MrJunk

Ok...

Ryurain2

My wifes insulin for the month is over $700 per pen. About $5000 a month if no insurance

StillSilentMajority7

Not sure what to tell you - it's $25 at CVS, and free or greatly reduced if you're poor. Pharma firms learned long ago that diabetics dropping dead was bad for business [https://www.novocare.com/diabetes-overview/let-us-help/pap.html](https://www.novocare.com/diabetes-overview/let-us-help/pap.html)

The only thing false here is you. And by all means, help some poor people out and explain exactly how they can get all their medicine for free. P.S. Not all insulin is the same you complete waste of oxygen.

StillSilentMajority7

Here you go. And you're right, it's not all the same. The CVS type is what was sold in the 1990's - back when Diabetes wasn't a death sentence [https://www.novocare.com/diabetes-overview/let-us-help/pap.html](https://www.novocare.com/diabetes-overview/let-us-help/pap.html) [https://cvshealth.com/news-and-insights/press-releases/cvs-health-launches-reduced-rx-savings-program-to-give-patients#:\~:text=Novo%20Nordisk%20will%20participate%20in,%24100%20for%20cash%20paying%20patients](https://cvshealth.com/news-and-insights/press-releases/cvs-health-launches-reduced-rx-savings-program-to-give-patients#:~:text=Novo%20Nordisk%20will%20participate%20in,%24100%20for%20cash%20paying%20patients).

Bingo. People love to debate way down into the weeds over semantic points of economics, politics, culpability, etc when talk of healthcare comes up. To me, the only conversation should be over how to make America the best UC system in the world. Instead, I found out my niece skipped months of her fucking leukemia meds bc after insurance, coupons, and the such it was still costing hundreds a month. She didn't want to ask for handouts bc she lost her job, so she just suffered. The fact she uses fucking *coupons* just... WTF is wrong with us?? It hits me hard that my fellow Americans have become so irrational and lend themselves to such selfish, short sighted and destructive belief systems. Especially when it's such a blatant repeat of history we've battled before and now watch as we backslide and fight the same battles over again whether it be labor rights, wages disparities, healthcare, human rights - fucking all of it . I've encountered so many people that would die to protect a billionaire's "right" to step on their neck and kill them JUST to spite "those lazy poor people" and "libtards" rather than demand moving our country forward for everyone's benefit. To make our country the #1 country they picture in their mind it to be when it's so damned far off. Idk. I'm rambling. Regardless, we need to do better in this country. I expected these issues to be a thing of the past by this point in my life. Instead I'm seeing us slide further into hell. It struck home when I asked my 72 year old father - a good man, a veteran, and a machinist who worked harder than anyone I know his whole life - say that he's distraught that he's going to leave this world so worse off than the one he inherited. He even told me he, like so many other rural folks out here, voted for Trump "to send a message to Washington" out of frustration of how corrupt we've become. God, did he regret that real quick too. I gotta get back to work. Late night here. Take care stranger, thanks for reading my rantings.

MrJunk

This is the most sane thing I've read in ages. You're fare from anything I'd consider rambling. Sorry to hear about your family member. I hope you can take comfort in knowing that because of her sacrifice, the mega wealthy can continue to hoard such intense amounts of wealth, that it's destroying the fabric of society. Taking one for the team! (Apologies for the dark humor. The situation itself is not remotely funny). Have a good one!

moosewhippets

I appreciate the reply. We're absolutely gonna disagree on a whole lot of topics based on a quick glance at your comment history (dear God man, trolling is the lowest form of self destruction. Consider backing off of it for your own sake) (and yes yes, I know I have no room to talk on that point) But, you put up when you could of shut up and I respect that. My mother suffered with diabetes and it absolutely contributed to her death. My uncle also has had it his whole life. And countless others I know, especially the older I get, are finding themselves dealing with it in various unique situations. I'll share this info on a couple local Facebook groups and let the rural wives club take care of the rest. I'm a local business owner so I hear a lot of what's going on with our community, and damned if medical costs aren't half of what our folks are stressing over. 90 days of free insulin won't solve a whole lot, but it'll definitely help a couple people I'm sure. Again, appreciate the info. Have a good one. P.S. Reagan was a good man in his own right, but fucked our country and was a terrible President. ;)

StillSilentMajority7

Again, diabetes is a scourge, but the myth of people dropping dead because they can't afford insulin just won't die on this sub. You can get it for $25 at CVS, or nearly free, if you let these people help you. [https://cheapinsulin.org/](https://cheapinsulin.org/) As a small business owner, you must appreciate that the pharma firms learned long ago that people dropping dead for not being able to buy your product is bad for business.

AdmirableVanilla1

I trust astrology to guide me, too! /s

theattack_helicopter

This isn't even relevant WTF?

AdmirableVanilla1

Just an overriding antipathy for pseudoscience

theattack_helicopter

Doesn't matter if someone is stupid, they don't deserve debt for getting sick or injured.

AdmirableVanilla1

I agree with you.

ChiefWamsutta

He's recounting a story that is not about him or Astrologer interests. Your logic is flawed.

AdmirableVanilla1

I was hurt by homeopaths and never fully recovered. Never again!

ChiefWamsutta

Oh, okay.
