Pssst... Mong Thu Cafe

The restaurant in SF that most reminds me of eating in Vietnam. My favorites are: * Banh Uot Cha Lua — fried shrimp pancakes with emulsified pork sausage and rice sheets with a bunch of herbs * Chao Long — pork (all kinds of parts) rice porridge, perfect when cold/sick/hungover * Bun Mam — funky fish broth soup with pork, shrimp, rice noodles * Banh Mi Xiu Mai — pork meatballs in broth/sauce with bread on the side They also have banh mi as well a pho ga, duck and bamboo shoot noodle soup, etc. always on the specials menu.

Wow! Can't wait to try this... this place was not on my radar at all. I'm assuming the picture is of the Banh Uot Cha Lua?

Ya, that's the Banh Uot Cha Lua (not my photo though).

This place is great. Small, family owned, friendly. Food is great and cheap. The Bun Mam is super pungent and funky. [https://imgur.com/a/hKUvOu4](https://imgur.com/a/hKUvOu4)
