Just saw ATAC with a huge SPAC merger on CNBC.
Anyone else in on this?
Anyone having a hard time splitting AJAX units . My brokerage doesn’t know how to handle . There’s slippage if I sell the units and just purchase the commons and adjusted warrants right? How long do units trade for and do they ever just automatically split?
What's the difference between STIC and STIC.U, the Northern Star spac for Barkbox?
>The Beginner's Guide to SPACs
Awesome, I read that awhile ago, it didn't register. This clears it up.
STIC is just a common share, STIC.U is a unit (aka a common share + a partial warrant). Units need to be split by your brokerage to separate the common share and the partial warrant btw.
Thanks-So I'm still in Barkbox if I got STIC, just sans warrant? Edit: thanks, I have more reading to do ha
STIC will get you bark box straight up (if the merger goes through). STIC.U will get you a bark box share and the partial warrant. However, it’s more complicated because you have to ask your broker to split it with a fee attached sometimes.
If you want to avoid the complexities of units, buying STIC will get you what you want.
Under the “Merges, Stock Splits, and More” section of RobinHoods website it says:
>We’ll temporarily prevent you from trading the affected stock while the Corporate Actions Team works to process these changes.
I’ve seen some comments that RH won’t let you trade a stock for a short while after a merger, which is a big deal for messing around with SPACs.
Anyone know for how long? And if you have a stop loss or limit sell or something in place prior to merger, would it work out during the “locked” period or no?
The way it was explained to me by a broker is this:
On the day of the ticker change, your stock stops trading under the SPAC ticker, and you still own the shares; but until the new company delivers them to your broker, you don't technically have possession of the shares, and therefore can't trade them electronically.
You could call in and have a trade executed on good faith, but if for some reason the shares aren't delivered to your broker by the next day, you could be responsible for delivery or settling the value of the trade.
You should always just call your broker and ask these kinds of questions. If they don't have someone who can answer these questions satisfactorily 24/7, find a new broker.
I've only held through 1 merger, but I was able to trade on both Fidelity and RH around noon that day.
Can the MODs pin the wiki at the top of the sub and not just a tiny link in the discussion. I'm sure everyone is tired of the same question over and over again.
GHIV give me a moon for Christmas 🙏🏻
Here's an angle to consider for AVAN. Adidas is interested in selling off the Reebok brand. Might just sell it to a private buyer, but a SPAC deal might be on the table too. Now the AVAN promoter is Adidas' biggest shareholder so I don't even know if this is feasible given conflict of interest. But go ahead and speculate :)
Tis the night before Christmas when IPOB will mooooon tomorrow!
Hsa account that you can trade stocks in? I've never heard of that
Been downvoted every time I brought up this ticker but volume has been picking up bigly on SCVX. Target sector cyber security; team heavily experienced in the field & includes fmr. Director of Nat'l Intel Senator Dan Coates. It seems an announcement is coming any day now.
It's likely simply the fact that there was one of the most damaging hacks in history.
Not to mention it came to market in March so its one of the older SPACs at this point. It's due.
These days, if you're a lizard who was recently pretending to be in public service, you can start a SPAC in addition to the usual corporate lobbyist gig.
Good observation. I’ve noticed the same too
gimme some GIK GAINS this week!
This this this
Would it be worth it selling a CC on GHIV? I only have 100 shares, is it worth the small premium
This, on Thursday I bought to close some Feb calls I sold about a week before, premium was already nearly 50% lower than when I sold, all while shares have appreciated. Last week was a bad week for SPACs, premiums took a hit pretty much across the board
Can’t wait to get up in the morning and watch PIC bounce around like a ping pong ball. I’m hoping for a rocket, but the profit taking will be for real.
I’m excited but tempering my expectations. I fully expect premarket to be up 20% then around 10%+ by open then start going down then back up towards the end of the day. Par for the course for PIC. XL, on the other hand, will do much better. Cant wait.
Agreed. I think it’ll do well after merger.
Hopefully it stays above 18 by market open
If it doesn’t, it’ll be back there by noon, I think.
I’m hoping for a dip so I can average up
What dip are you a buyer at?
I don't even own PIC but I'm excited for you guys, gonna be interesting!
It’s kind of fun to watch ones you aren’t in, just to see what it does
Looking for THCB's District Attorney
What's a District Attorney? Is that how warrants work?
yes call them for a court date to pick up ur warrant
Hope everyone has a great week. Let’s make some money this week 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
How will the stimmy effect SPACs?
After Cramer pumped pic Friday, many spacs were up nicely ah. Hcac, ipob and pic merging soon hopefully positive catalysts.
Already priced in
Unlikely to have a major impact. Futures are slightly red but tech is up a little. Stim is too small to excite the market
I hope this week will be better than last. With HCAC and IPOB finally merging, hopefully that’ll be a catalyst for other SPACs to go green 😭🙏🏾
I hate to say it but historically there is a reason many here caution to not hold through merger. Could ve wrong though ofc
I’m still every bullish on Canno. I believe they will be a good investment. Yes it might dip once they merge but I’m willing to bet it’ll rebound to $25+.
u/karmalizing can you mod me so I can start banning these retards like u/anthonyein97 and deleting these self-promoting threads the minute they pop up? I’m on here like 16 hours a day.
Or mod spacymcspacspac or whatever his name is, he’s always here too. And u/alwaysblamescanada and u/reactup
I'd use my powers to ban Obi and all his alt accounts
lol what?? hows that relevant to spacs or why is he even talking about that kinda stuff on r/SPACs
He's not. He just doesn't like THCB and this guy's pulling the race card
so dumb. just gonna block that dude for thinking not liking a chinese spac is xenophobic, cant imagine being around someone like that in real life probably that dude who posts political bullshit all the time and goes to womens marches and makes it his whole personality lmao
Just because someone like u/SPAC-ey-McSpacface is here often doesn't mean he's qualified to be a mod.
And me lmao
Spacymcspacface is a wet blanket, him having mod powers would be a miserable idea. Lol
Yeah we wouldn't have any torlek threads debating how to define a superrocket-lottery-blockbuster-tsunami spac. What a loss! /s
He adds character to the board.
And it's still better than most of the trash posted here these days.
When would be a good time to sell IPOC? Wait post-marger or in new year?
Depends on price after merge. Hedosophia doesn’t lock up PIPE. If it runs up like OpenDoor, there might be a root of concern.
Why sell? Its a growing business, I believe it's a good investment in years time
Isn't the merger in the new year for IPOC?
Don't fight CNBC pump. Check out the list IPOC is with.
Whenever a name is mentioned next to Disney, Alibaba, and Amazon, just fucking buy it for the ride. I never understood why this didn't run up but now it is a good entry bc Chamanth is done with IPOB. His next push will be IPOC.
Any idea why IPOC is being mentioned alongside those companies?
I actually liked their investor presentation. They are using tech to reduce paperwork, cost, and time for doctors and patients. It is literally a win win so not sure why there was limited excitement here. The Ontario Teacher's fund just bought a bunch of shares as well so this is going to get some street cred along with Chamanth doing his thing.
I'm no IPOC hater, I'm leveraged to the tits in it, but I will say there is a very solid bear case against it.
I can't seem to find the link, but it was a medium article so it wasn't from a big source like CNBC or anything. That said, the actual numbers the guy was referencing in the bear case all checked out. His whole thing amounted to the idea that most of the IPOC investor's presentation on clover was really twisting the numbers to make it seem way bigger than it is already. So based on that he was saying their high valuation was mostly based on their potential to disrupt the industry with their proprietary software/whatever the fuck it is.
The problem that the bear case pointed out was that in general health care programs are extremely reluctant to adopt new practices, and that's even true when the new practice is a proven upgrade. Even worse, Clover is a poorly rated Medicare system as is, so there wouldn't even be a financial incentive for anyone new to use their software as of right now.
Why am I still invested?
Because honestly I don't give a damn about this company long term, I think it has enough potential to generate hype, and I think IPOB is currently setting IPOC to pop to at least $20 underlying by Jan 8. That all said, because the company itself is super suspicious in the short term, I will not be holding anything through merger. I have a bad feeling about what will happen once the ticker flips and people do more research than "oh Chamath SPAC, get me in there!"
I just got a massive booklet from BFT, I don’t want it
The most annoying thing in SPAC trading. I don’t even get why we legally need paper copies
I got one too, poor trees😪
There's something called a Recycle Bin and it doesn't only exist on your PC.
Do you want it?
SoftBank to File Its First SPAC on Monday
> SoftBank will file to raise between $500 million and $600 million through a public offering of a special purpose acquisition company, Axios reported, citing multiple unidentified people familiar with the plans.
> It would be the first SPAC for SoftBank. The company is also preparing at least two additional vehicles, Axios said.
This is the top
Do we know which ticker there merging with?
What about them launching a SPAC makes you think there is already a company they are already taking public?
Alight is garbage , another failed Blackstone IPO going public through SPAC
PBF is huge here
yup. going to be pumped on here a ton lol
People still holding HCAC wyd? I'm trying to not be greedy but 😅🥴
What are we doing?
Expecting a good return on investment in the medium/long term.
Not every stock is a two week pump-and-dump.
99 percent of people here are not doing the long game on SPACs. Generally, if you do want to play the long game then it's best to wait until after the merger and after the PIPE lockup before entering anyways.
It’s like people hate money, if they really want to hold long just buy back in at a lower price after merger. It’s not rocket surgery.
I have to agree with you here. Especially if your money went in blind pre target which is the definition of speculative. You'd have to do some olympic level mental gymnastics to go from ultimate spec play to thinking that this is where I want to put my money out of all the companies available to me. Most will never have even heard of the target before but all of a sudden are going to hold it long. Right...
I think we can assume most people holding HCAC through merger are comfortable with them as a long term option and aren't doing it on a whim.
I've read through Alight's website (possible $WPF target) and the only current conclusion I can draw is that their business is a scaffold of buzzwords.
THCB $30 tomorrow?
Are we pumpin or are we dumpin bro, that's I really need to know with THC-B lol
It went up to $17 with no news a couple weeks back. Hold until we see if a DA gets announced, and watch it rocket to the moon. Or drop back to the NAV price if it doesn't happen. Small downside, potential huge upside. Hold.
Give me a grand and I'll send you a crystal ball.
CIIC/Arrival. What we thinking post IPO?
I'm buying and holding long-term as soon as it comes down to a vaguely affordable price.
For a serious, long-term investment: Wait until two months after the ticker change.
Hopefully, the PIPE dump and the warrants dilution will be done by then, just like with SHLL / HYLN.
For more aggressive, short-term swing trading: Buy on the first Monday of the New Year, or during the week before.
Just wanted to share this cause it’s mildly awesome: I sold 12/18 Puts on 6 SPACs on Dec 9th and only got Assigned on 1 of them on Friday - PIC.
When I sold the $17.5P with a break even of $15.75, PIC was $17.30 and it dropped down to $15.32 when I was assigned near close on Friday for a $43 loss per contract.
In AH PIC gained 17.6% up to $18.02 meaning I recovered the $42 loss, all of the $175 premium, and wound up gaining $52 more per contract than if I hadn’t even been assigned. X10 contracts for an AH gain of $2,690. Thanks PIC.
whoever scooped GIK under 11 gonna be real happy in a month or so
How you feel about this tho
Bruh literally every single spac gets that eventually. 100% normal
Show me a SPAC that hasn't been investigated by an ambulance chasing law firm. Go ahead, I'll wait.
Thinking about buying some tomorrow depending on where it opens. I’ve stayed away from EV due to lofty valuations but this one is pretty reasonable. I have concerns about them being more of just an assembler than anything actually proprietary but they are also the exclusive partner for Plug so idk what to think lol
They’re getting investigated rn like a lot of spacs
Eh like I said the deal has a fair valuation to me so I doubt much will come of trying to prove their was a breach of fiduciary responsibility
You’re probably right and could capitalize on this fear
I don’t think this lawsuit is what’s holding the stock back tbh. DMYD has the same thing and is doing fine. I think the problem is as I said above where they are putting EV into Ford models rather than making their own cars
I’m already happy!!! Thought I had enough Gik but got even more. Going to keep loading if I can. All the losers around here all week complaining about it dropping and selling I just wanna say thanks for being so stupid!
Seeing a lot more GHIV negativity after the madness a couple of weeks ago.
Are we no longer feeling as bullish?
Appreciate it's not super sexy but I still see $14 a possibility
Inverse reddit all the time
There are a dozen SPACs that are merging between now and when GHIV is scheduled to close. I'm expecting a lot of that money to roll over to UWM as those other spacs merge and people take profits. It was probably shrewd of them to wait until the end of January so they weren't competing for SPAC dollars.
It’s hard to be bullish when everything is going up except for this. That being said as a guy with no GHIV, I’m bullish on this but can’t sell my current positions.
Yeah it's unsettling but HCAC done this before and look how that turned out.
Either way my average is 10.90 and I'll be surprised if I take a loss pre merger
Thoughts on DMYD? Started a speculative position at $13 - should I buy more? Seems to have huge potential considering the future growth prospects of online gambling in the US (I’m from the UK so gambling has always been popular here compared to the States).
I bought at 14$. It’s a great long term investment but I am worried about the potential shorterm pullback. Hopefully there is none and this is 30$ by merger
I think it's going to 20 within 1-2 months
That’s where you cost average
Ipob looking good? I sold at peak but am considering getting back in
I wouldn't, you're probably better off getting in on a play that hasn't popped yet in the same timeframe.
Think of it this way, even if IPOB has potential to hit $50, you'll make just as much money, if not more, by getting in on a SPAC that is at 12 right now that could hit $20. Not to mention, there's half a dozen SPACs that are probably more likely to hit $20 in the next month than IPOB hitting $50 post merger.
Recently SPACs post merger have been extremely coin flip on going up or tanking: see LAZR vs DM. One popped, one died a sad death. As a result I think you actually have lower risk AND higher potential gains by going in on something like IPOC or GHIV who have announced mergers within the next month and are still below $13. IPOC might gap up at open tomorrow, if that's the case then you'll have to decide based on the level it gaps up.
What is the next move after HCAC?
There’s a whole host of good $10 options. VSPR NPA THBR etc. if your risk tolerance is higher, OAC DMYD are good picks too imo.
+1 for vspr, npa, thbr, and dmyd. All of those are excellent short term plays and imo dmyd is a great long.
What do you think about SNPR? I don’t know if I’ll be patient enough to leave it in there
It moves to the right !
$PDAC get in early and watch it fly when a target is announced!
yup the team here is really good. just waiting on their target but know it will hit
I’m just adding little by little, treating it as a savings account. At 1K shares right now
It will take a while to find a target.
why do you say that
Possibly but possibly not... SPACs are going crazy lately. Look at STIC... I’d rather not miss the train
What's your reasoning?
Targeting a green company aka climate change/alternative energy. One of the directors ran Obama’s clean energy program while he was a president. I’m sure him and Biden worked together a lot already. Large trust and chilling at NAV.
Honestly, its probably more likely Biden has never spoken to that person in his life.
For dopamine junkies this week gonna be pretty insane with the mergers of PIC and HCAC. Never look forward to weekends anymore
With my Longhorns playing like shit, I don't look forward to weekends either. Can't wait for the market to be open. Got in on PIC and IPOC (big) on Thursday and had a nice run up on Friday. And then, Cramer pumped up PIC so it should be awesome. Only thing that would make it perfect is THCB DA.
Ahhh the ever elusive THCB DA...hopefully by the end of the year...that would be amazing
At least you don't have to play Clemson for the 3rd time in the playoffs. Not looking forward to that one. I digress.... I don't really know how to time selling these two. And yes, I would definitely like to sell PIC and at least 75% of HCAC.... I have the worst timing. Still make profit but I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly.
I might hold pic through meger. Cramer pump along with green government coming. Don't see much downside from this price point.
Thank you for your help and opinion. I always welcome the help.
If only the longhorns had this luck in their games. I’ll be pissed af if A&M falls half assed backwards into the playoffs, this was the perfect year for texas to make the playoffs
You guys dodged a bullet. ND gonna get crushed. Unfortunately....so are we. Don't like our chances against Clemson.... again.
The thought of Aggies potential having a playoff spot and Sooners winning their 6th big 12 makes me want to vomit. On a side note, we are now a basketball school.
In the stimulus package that is about to be voted apparently they want to limit Fed support and require approval from congress for future intervantions.Does anyone have an insight if this will have any impact in the stock market and spac market?
Republicans want the Fed to have less capability to provide liquidity in 2021 than they did in 2020.
I'm not too familiar with the details but any tying up of Fed market intervention into the gridlock of congress would be perceived as a negative for markets.
Sounds like they've reached a compromise that allows some wiggle room for the Fed going forward, which is good news. I usually prefer a split Congress, but McConnell is so determined to have nothing get accomplished under Biden, I am now thinking that Dems winning both GA seats would be a positive. 50-50 split in the Senate, so no-one can go too crazy, but McConnell not in charge, which would improve SPAC prospects...
Attention PIC holders, you’re in for a treat this week. Cramer put the spotlight on it and when it becomes XL and analysts are able to get a full picture of their revenue potential, the stock will do very well. One of the few that will continue to go up post merger.
Will it go above $22 ?
Thinking there will lot of profit taking at $20
There will definitely be a lot of profit taking at $20, but it should eventually get up to $25+ once it becomes XL.
So you recommend holding through the merger? I only have 20 shares so it probably doesn't matter to most people but it was one of the first things I bought as far as SPACs.
20 shares? Yeah, you may as well hold them. I have close to 14,000 and I’ll def sell a few thousand if it goes above $20 but then hold the majority of them through the merger.
Thank you! I have gradually gotten up the nerve to buy more with each investment. I've done pretty well and transferred some of my SPAC proceeds to other stocks (NET @ $30!). Not comfortable putting that much in however. Someone once told me make a price target and if it hits it sell around half or all of you want and then delete it from your watch list so you don't fomo in again later. I've made some good gains but HCAC is by far the most I've ever owned and I'd like to time it just right. I'm not sure about how I feel about all these EV startups. I know they're good premerger but after that I feel like it's anyone's game.
Sold IPOC 22.5s on Friday expiring January 199% IV... I mean free money (or a double up in a month) but jeez that IPOC option chain is all bullled up
Good move. The merger date is Jan 7 and it's win-win whether it hits your strike or not.
According to a Reuters report, Foley Trasimene Acquisition Corp., is in talks to acquire a Alight Solutions, a benefits administrator business, with a valuation of more than $8 billion.
This is big news involving a proven and successful business with clients in 188 countries.
GHIV is such a clown fiesta
Just be patient, it will grow, it's still early. January is where it will happen. Money comes to those who are patient.
Hopefully before the 15th when my calls die
Why does no one care about BTWN
It's not confirmed yet
If no one cared the price would be $10 not $13.2.
I just dont see much mention of it
theres been a ton of threads on it. is there any new news?
Maybe because it doesn’t have a 100% chance of merging?
Can’t they search for other targets? It is Thiel backed after all.
There's no point in complaining something isn't being pumped enough when it's already 30% overvalued and there's nothing legitimate to talk about yet. It just split, give the price time to drop and the spac time to find an actual target and then we'll have something to discuss for real.
Not complaining. Just wondering why there wasn’t much interest even though Tokopedia is the rumored target. This sub is super gay going back to wsb. Pce
Should I buy SPCX ETF? It’s a new etf based on spacs, this thing could be gauranteed gains if you just leave your money in there. I could just leave it up to the pros instead of trying to time the market and be wrong every time
I bought some in my HSA account. All the holdings I saw were pre-announcement and it sounds like the goal is to take advantage of the predictable spikes in SPAC prices.
do they remove a company after merge? or how does this work?
Yeah, it looks like they do. Probably pre-merger actually. Lots of their holdings still trade at a considerable premium to NAV though, so it's not exactly a risk-free investment.
I m think of parking extra cash there..Too bad I don't have extra cash
Just checked in on it. Here are their holdings: https://www.spcxetf.com/spcx-holdings/
I like it as a way to have exposure to pre-announcement SPACs. May open a small position and just want how they perform. I guess the question is how do they exit these? Right at a pop? Merger? Some of both?
WHere did it mentions they get exposure to pre announce SPAC ??
Look at the holdings
Will definitely need to know before investing.
If you owned shares of $LCA on or before October 29, even if you don't currently have those shares, please vote FOR the merger. If you need assistance voting your shares call MORROW SODALI LLC, the company's proxy solicitor @ 877-787-9239
Joey B is going to make me jump back in SBE Monday lol
How do you guys find info on new/up and coming SPACs? What’s the main dd source?
I hope people make serious DD on it and post it here
YouTube, reddit, twitter and people say this https://spactrack.net/activespacs/ but I don't know how you pick out the winners from the list
You're literally looking at it
We need a Cramer-friend index, as it seems he talks about SPACs that his friends are involved in.
Vspr coming in hot
Is SPAC Insider just a huge ripoff ? $1k+ per year? Anyone been in there?
Not worth it. Read the headlines then find the SEC documents for free on your own.
No, try it for a month it’s useful
