Comparison between my s7 and s7max, it does make a little bit of a difference on our carpeted bedrooms. Nothing crazy different though.

eternallatake

Thank you. Should I have to turn on the Max+ function on S7 MaxV to have a difference or does it make difference on balanced mode too ?

Kinematic9

Balanced feels exactly the same.as it is on the s7, you do have to turn max on. I do believe you can program routines to use it automatically though.

eternallatake

Damn if S7 MaxV also not gonna vacuum the dirt next to/beside my carpet upgrading to it doesn't even make sense then, cuz I don't care about the AI camera. What do you think, what would you do in this situation ? Should I upgrade ? Maybe it's because of my carpets being too high and no bot can vacuum the dirt next to high carpets idk. If it's gonna vaccum on Max+ mode I can upgrade though. u/Kinematic9

Kinematic9

If you're thinking of upgrading solely for the 5100 suction, I wouldn't. The reason I did is for the dock as it will make the mopping here much easier especially at night.

eternallatake

They don't even sell the Plus or Ultra dock here so I was gonna upgrade for the suction yeah. Have you ever heard the Deebot T9 ? Would that be a better choice then ?

Kinematic9

I've heard of it but don't know much about it at all. Bummer on the dock but I'd say keep the S7 and wait until the combo is available to upgrade if you're still interested. I'd have kept the s7 if the dock remained the same.

Short answer, yes, because even when set on a lower power, it will still have more suction than the s7. However if your concerned about carpet performance, nothing will beat a Roomba. The new j7+ is a great machine too!

I respectfully disagree. I just replaced my j7+ with the s7maxv. It does a much better job with suction. I think the only roomba comparable in suction power would be the s9.

PhilosophyCorrect279

For suction absolutely, the Roborock is one of the strongest in the market, I won't deny that. But for pure carpet cleaning, while the Roborock does very well, it still won't match the carpet cleaning of the IRobots, if that is your main concern. For hard floors the Roborock should easily do better. For mixed use it should be perfectly fine. What I also meant was simply that, you will have more power available if what you already have isn't enough, and that it's lower power will still be stronger than the older one. It would mean that if you run your S7maxv on half power, it will still have more suction at half power than the S7. For example, my old robot maxes out at 2000pa. Our new robot is slightly higher at 2500pa. At normal/medium for the old robot, it's only using 1000pa. For the new robot at medium, it's using 1250pa. Not a huge difference, but it does seem to help In areas the other struggled a little. Either way, both machines are great and I wish you best of luck!
