Best i've seen them. Saw them 2016 twice, they where good, but with John back it really seals the deal. Anthonys vocals where brilliant tonight. Brought my SO along to this gig, its her first time seeing the Chilis, she loved it, glad they put on a show.

EmiAndTheDesertCrow

I think this is the best Anthony’s sounded live for years

00Mark

+1 on Anthony's vocals. I'd warned my mate that he can be a bit ropey live, and he absolutely was not. John was on 🔥🔥

-Regex

Couldnt agree more, was absolitely perfect, glad you both enjoyed it as much as i did!

JordanMeBaby

UNIVERSALLY SPEAKING

nucleargloom

I've been humming it all week, mildly doubting they would play it - but when the opening started my jaw dropped and I entered a state of total euphoria! Fantastic performance tonight and the crowd was decent also!

JordanMeBaby

Yep exactly the same here. Had it on whilst I was making breakfast, thinking about the slane castle performance and how cool it would be to hear it firsthand. Just a wonderful evening

nucleargloom

Glad you had a good time brother/sister - see you next time!

JordanMeBaby

Yes same to you!

4Y4ChctXyXwX5AVwNMk9

Just got back home now and it was absolutely incredible. They were just unreal. Perfect setlist too.

OsbornRHCP

I think it's one of the weakest set lists they've done personally but I'm glad people loved it anyways. The crowd looked a bit... flat? I was in Barcelona and the crowd were pretty wild all over the place, but from the footage posted of Manchester it looked very static

4Y4ChctXyXwX5AVwNMk9

It did in places. I think I got quite lucky with my spot just on the outside of the golden circle on John's side. Big mosh pit going on for pretty much the entire gig which was fun.

OsbornRHCP

Yeah I was hoping it was just a quiet part of the crowd being filmed - which makes sense as mosh pits probably don't make for the best place to record! Jealous you got to see Universally Speaking and Suck my Kiss. Seriously considering going to the Sunday gig on my own

Bugsmoke

Go on your own lad, have a belter

DeadbeatUK

It was, they were like statues other than maybe ‘Snow’ and ‘Give It Away’ where they came alive briefly. I’ve never felt so alone shouting the lyrics to ‘Suck My Kiss’ in my life! During that song I had 2 lads behind me snorting coke and 2 girls in front of me taking fucking selfies 🤦🏼‍♂️ I moved 3 times too to try and find an atmosphere!

jonmaddock

Absolutely unreal last night! Spot on vocals and performance! Wow what a vibe from everyone

JordanMeBaby

I was to the right of the sound booth in a mosh pit. It was absolutely fucking lit. My dad was in the golden circle and he said the crowd was really dead. Loads of people just filming and remaining quite static. He said he would have preferred to have been general admission for a more active audience.

Beyondeath_

Heh, we were directly on the other side of the booth about 2 rows back and while it got a bit rowdy in patches it was fairly calm on the whole. Dunno if it comes down to half of us being old boomers that can't really go the full 90 mins anymore

GhostNoteZ0

From his work on the album and the videos ive seen this tour Anthony is the best hes ever been imo

YamperIsBestBoy

Just a couple more days! Found some cheaper tickets. Just gotta make it to pay day…

Dangerbadger

Last night was a dream come true. 20 years of listening to these guys and I finally saw them live. However, I think this concert has leaned me into never go standing in stadium again as it kind of ruined my experience.. I think I would've had a much better time seated. I should've moved over to the unreserved.. Really really sucked that I feel they ended their set early just for A$ap to play 2/3 tunes too.

-Regex

Was in the same boat as you, wanted to stay away from the field so ended up vip in the hotel. Watched the ebtire gig from our balcony!! Not sure about the set, was still a 16 song set with a 2 song flea handstand encore man! Brilliant!

CharacterPudding8

It was a good gig. Definitely disappointed in the short set and lack of a John solo.

VeterinarianNo5862

I believe 19 songs is the most they’ve played per night on this tour. They’ve done it 5 times and last night was one of them. The others have been from 12-18. Most consisting of 17. So can’t really grumble about a short set!

DeadbeatUK

It did feel like it was all over far too quickly and they were there for the pay cheque though let’s be honest. They did sound good but it felt like “let’s get this shit over and done with and get out of here”.

VeterinarianNo5862

I read there was a time limit due to noise in the community also?? Can’t be booming tunes out of a stadium at all hours. Apparently that’s why asap has to bail so quick

doctorforce

I was planning on making my own rant post about last night. The lads were amazing, but that's got to have been the worst crowd and atmosphere I've been part of with such a massive band. People all around me talking throughout the set. Fair enough you've paid your £90 to get it, I've no problem if people don't want to pay attention to what's going on, but don't ruin it by shouting to your friends when others are trying to listen to the music. I know this happens in almost every gig, no matter the type of music, but last night was ridiculous, at least where I was. By far the best worst crowd, but the best performance I've seen of RHCP ♥️

Effective-Setting712

The guy next to me said he didn’t even like them and was just there for the crack. He had his back to the band and just chatted and pissed about with his mates all night.

doctorforce

That's the thing, I've gone to see bands I don't know / not really a fan of, but I'd never stand there shouting over the music all night. It really distracted me last night. The first time I've seen RHCP with John, and I've got groups of people all around me shouting to each other. I hope and I'm sure others didn't have the same experience as us, must have picked bad spots

Effective-Setting712

Unless they play arenas I don’t think I’ll bother again? Stadiums are to big and you need to get right to the front to get a good experience.

doctorforce

Yeh, I really don't blame you. The problem with Old Trafford (where I saw them) as a venue is that they have the 'golden ring' where tickets were around 50% more than normal. That's the only way of getting as close as you like to the stage. The sad thing is, if they play Old Trafford again, I would 100% pay for it as the other week was ruined for me, for the most part.

The band did sound good though.

Broken_Pinata

Thought it wasn’t the best set list and never have I paid that much for a gig for such a short performance time. Not sure whether A$AP not showing up for his slot had an effect or what, but pretty disappointed

-Regex

I have changes id have made to the setlist, but what they chose and how they played it definitely did not disappoint. They were all smiling, the crows energy was strong. The show was brilliant

Broken_Pinata

Yeah set list just wasn’t one for me! Thought it was way too short a gig too, especially given the money - I think it was probably the most expensive gig I’ve been to that isn’t a festival. A bit disappointed but who cares.

EdwinJamesPope

1 hour 40 considering the energy output is a fair length. Quality not quantity.

Broken_Pinata

Given it was a 90 quid gig I expected a few more tunes but oh well. It was great to see John and as a casual fan I thought they played great!

-Regex

I wont lie, was very much in awe and nevrr really counted songs. The fsct they played enough for me to lose count was a winner haha!

Broken_Pinata

Awesome - glad you had a great time!

areallyshitusername

100% agree.

pametca

wE MisS jOsH :((((

FlyAwayonmyZephyr1

IM SO FUCKING EXCITED

-Regex

You should be, dont let anything else tell you otherwise

DeadbeatUK

Honest opinion, the band sounded good but the set list felt very short and the crowd for the most part was fucking shit. I moved 3 times and was either next to young lads snorting coke or selfie obsessed girls. The crowd were mostly like statues too until they played ‘Snow’ and ‘Give It Away’… I’d seen them twice before in 2003 and 2004 but times have changed a lot since then I guess.

Ashleybjones

I thought it was a solid 5/10 compared to the Barcelona show

-Regex

Theyve all been great, italy and machester felt as if theyve clicked back together, i wouldnt have changed a thing based on the smiles of the band

Sports-day-4-fatties

I went to both and agree somewhat. We got into the arena pretty late and managed to get an okay spot, but the croud near me was dead and really brought the energy down. Spanish croud was unreal and I think that was the main difference for me - you win some and you lose some.

ImThatJemeh

I agree with this, the crowd picked up for the second half of the set but the first 8 songs the crowd near me where completely dead. Dont think half the people knew any of the songs. But thats what you get with the big bands i suppose
