I'm a QC native myself! Feel free to hit my inbox I tend to be out and about having a fun time

JadedJesterr

Not sure if you're a facebook user, but this is a QC FB group for people in their 20's to meet up and socialize. There's a Discord too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/qc20s

Elliyos

I'm one of the admins there and in the Discord server! Thanks for the boost :)

JadedJesterr

Look up the QCH3 on Facebook, they're a "drinking group with a running problem" that my parents are apart of. Basically a bunch of people get together and go on a hash run which is very much like the game fox and the hare. The hare makes a trail with chalk and everyone else follows it. There's optional drinking, fun games, and every year they have a charity event where everyone dresses up in red dresses to raise money for 1 or 2 charities. They're very friendly and are accepting of lots of walks of life (queer, trans, etc.) And they're generally really cool ppl. They're all roughly around your age too(except my parents but they're cool too) (Edit: spelling, grammar, and additional words)

Special_Baked-goods

Oh and because you're a dad there's also the family friendly group called the sippicups. Similar concept as the adult one but less drinking and more kid oriented.

Start going to events and outings. Theres a comedy/music show this weekend called the HALA- see if either of those is your jam. Maybe geocaching, burlesque or catching a band? Gym membership? I know it sucks to go alone, but the entertainment scene here is really friendly, so that might be a place to start.

Sorry don't really have anything for ya as far as groups go. (I live about 40 miles from the qca but its my closest "Big City") What are you interested in doing with the fellow lads around the area? Any hobbies or sports your looking to get into or already take part in? Bringing the kid with at all ? That may change what u do while socializing but if anyone gives ya a hard time just tell em off. BTW I'm with ya on the no friends train lol. I moved from my home town 16 years ago and stopped talking to 98% of the people I used to know. (Mostly due to their drug use or them only calling when they needed my help) The other 2% I've slowly lost touch with just due to life moving so dam fast and never having time for myself. I don't think I've actually hung out with a "friend" for more than 30min or so in over 5 years. I also had my kids when I was younger so it makes it harder to hang as now they have kids too but theirs are 1-8yr and mine are 13 and 15 lol. I don't gota really parent my kids as much anymore though so I got more free time for myself just as everyone else lost theirs lol. Do u like hunting or fishing? Shooting pool? Play any video games? (Thats about all I do now days that way I can at least talk to a couple of work friends while we play for 20-30 min)

Maybe_once_more

Same thing. I didn't fall in with the greatest crowd from highschool and since I decided to be a better person and good dad I've had to distance myself from them and the rest have lost touch or are just now having kids and getting busy. I do play video games and shoot pool. Fishing not so much as I don't eat fish and hunting I've been interested in but idk if I can handle the field gutting required tbh.. I play on ps4 mainly although I have a decent pc to play on console is just more convenient for me.

ConstructionNew1212

Join pool leagues. Just one night a week.

Most churches have groups like this and I can promise you from first hand experience they can be a party and not just bibles and Jesus.

Maybe_once_more

Yeah I'm just unfortunately non religious

[deleted]

Unitarian Universalists?

BadassToiletNinja

What is this and do we have it in the quad cities?

[deleted]

It’s a progressive church that doesn’t adhere to a specific faith, there’s one on Eastern in Davenport.

Scurvypoopdeck

"...they can be a party..."

Sufficient_Trouble32

There are some good clubs but ive noticed alot of them are people in there like mid 30s and up but you never know till you try. Not many friends here either, i usually end up biking/hiking/ rock climbing by myself.

Separate-Army-9105

Hey what’s wrong with people in their 30s? We need friends too 😂

BornDyed

>Hey what’s wrong with people in their 30s? We need friends too I just turned 50. I somehow find good times here in the QC regularly. Considering I'm from the west coast Bay Area and have also lived in Tampa, NY and Austin..... there are still ways to find enjoyment in a less burgeoning environment such as the QC. There are places to go and places to avoid, too numerous to name. Since I was once a newbie here and had the luck and benefit of having a local show me the ropes, I feel pleased to offer the same. DM me here.

Zervonn

Where do you do rock climbing around here?

Gunslingering

Seconded

Maybe_once_more

I donthe biking and hiking either by myself or with the kiddo. I dont hate doing stuff alone I just wouldn't mind company sometimes

Supermanhatguy

QCA has some of the best disc golf in the Midwest. Leagues most nights in the spring, summer, and fall. Check out Chain-o-holics on FB if interested in meeting people. Pm me and I can easily get you and your kid a full set of discs for free.

Sufficient_Trouble32

There is palisades state park but i dont actually trad climb I just boulder ( i have a few hidden spots lol)

Fit-One4553

There is a Rotary After Hours club in Rock Island that is solid. DM me for details.

annarchisst

I game frequently.... Almost every day.. PC. Got moved to KS 5 years ago for a job, then moved to quad cities for another. So I am kind of in the same boat.

Maybe_once_more

My pc isnstill packed away i have nowhere to set up in my current living situation atm.. so I'm confined to my ps4 for the time being. Im looking to get a desk once I clear more junk outta here tho

annarchisst

I hear good things about the steam deck. V2 was announced. Depends on your standards, and game library. I will be checking out V2 even though I got a monster cpu atm.

BadassToiletNinja

PeanutTheFerret

Don't know if you like board games but there are a couple of pretty nice board game meet ups each week at the local game stores. Kid friendly, but it's mostly adults in your age range. Everyone I've met there is super nice and it's a pretty welcoming environment.

plotdavis

What stores? I'm a huge fan of strategy games and i might be living in QC at some point

PeanutTheFerret

Nerdhq and games+1 are the ones I know of :) nerdhq has open games on Thursdays, and games+1 has it on Fridays.
