This happens to me all the time. As others have said you've punched too closely... It happens. What works for me is lightly spraying the back with water and ironing with a towel (bc I use acrylic yarn) over the piece. Usually that softens it to flatten it out.

frogclownfizbo

Is that before or after you put glue over it ?

colorsick

That would be before the glue. The glue will be the final action to set it.

thegoodpunch

As someone mentioned, the punches are too close together. If you’re displaying the loop side, punch the back so there is at least half-the-size of the yarn size stitch between rows. And if your making something to hang, you don’t even need to glue anything. The stitches are well secure.

ohhmagen

Oh wow!

olivfrog

from what i know you can prevent this from happening if you apply glue while its still in the hoop/frame

ohhmagen

Ahh!

I had the same issue on my first few pieces….I think I was forcing too much yarn into such a tight area

ohhmagen

Probably am haha!

felharr

Based on the back, you don't need to punch that close together.

RavenousVageen

If it’s acrylic yarn be careful ironing, you can melt it. A towel/fabric between the iron and your yarn can help prevent melting

felharr

Oh yeah I should've mentioned that, I forget not everyone knows exactly how to iron lol, yeah a piece of fabric between is definitely recommended.

ohhmagen

Brings me back to sewing class. The smells.

ohhmagen

Such a helpful tip!

felharr

Iron the back or put something heavy on it.

ohhmagen

Oohh

ohhmagen

I took my first piece off the hoop and this happened! What did I do wrong if anything? Was it too tight or…

frogclownfizbo

With your next piece try putting glue in while it’s in the loop and wait it to harden this might help
