Cunderwood2020

Why the fuck was the cop trying to get the guy to stand up right after he hit him with his CAR.

usherluvr69

“Sir, are you alright?” NO mofo you just hit me with your car!

Beach1107

No....I was in the road in the way of your car.

illuminutcase

Cop was at a stop sign. He's supposed to yield to pedestrians. You're not allowed to just plow through them.

woahmybad

i mean i could be wrong but it seems like he’s looking at the laptop while he’s doing the turn too

Sykotik

Please don't drive.

genuinecelticknott

There’s a test question about this exact scenario in the DOT driver education manual. One of the answers is to proceed through the intersection because you have the right of way. Spoiler alert: that’s the wrong answer.

Wildlandman52

Trying to pull his hand to help him up, could be doing more damage. Don’t police usually have some knowledge, or trained at least as first responders.

Gummymyers124

Seriously, I saw him touching the dude and i’m like wtf are you doin. Get your hands off him, man. I was even more worried he’d try to just pull him up to make him stand up

tropicalapple

The last thing he was saying was "C'mon man, let's try to sit up" dude's probably a little concussed, give him a minute

88keyed

No fooling. A fractured rib could end up puncturing a lung... to exacerbate it.

p_cool_guy

Because he's trying to get him up and walking away so he can say he's fine. If he happens to collapse later that's because he must have gotten hurt somewhere else.

For anyone not familiar with this completely manufactured condition, which exists solely to justify deaths in police custody or when a taser is involved, here's a two part expose covering its history and usage. https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/episode/part-one-excited-delirium-how-cops-81965684/ https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323/episode/part-two-excited-delirium-how-cops-82245525/

It takes more training to get a license to cut hair

Abandonsmint

Imagine a barber giving such a bad haircut it KILLED the client and then just like, moving to another branch of great clips

Abandonsmint

*accidentally perms wrong person's hair and shaves the dog on the way out*

yungchow

Or not even gettin moved most of the time

Yer_Out

>Don’t police usually have some knowledge You can’t just throw easy ones out like that

[deleted]

I'm not trained as a first responder nor have I ever gotten any medical training, not even cpr. I know full well that you don't try and pick up an injured person who is not in immediate danger and you always call for an ambulance as soon as you see someone getting hurt as it's easier to call off an ambulance than have one get there sooner. It's basic elementary school knowledge

Kroto86

Nope, they are put through 21 weeks of training before out on the street. None of it seems to be common sense training though.

memorygardens

Yo, in America you go through more training to cut hair then a cop. Just saying

alanmm88

About as much knowledge as the guy crossing the street not in a cross walk area.

-Motor-

This was years ago but... A friend was riding his motorcycle on a neighborhood street (25mph speed limit). A police officer approaches from a cross street and runs the stop sign (no lights on or siren), t-boned my friend as he was driving by, and issued him a citation (put the ticket on him on the gurney) as the ambulance took him away for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

snip_nips

did he take it to court or pay the fine?

sadchompipe

Had a cop pull out on a left turn from a perpendicular driveway, no headlights or anything. I was on the country road at night. An oncoming truck's headlights did not permit me to see him, the only thing is there's a lot of deer so I was super alert and could perceive a slight difference in the darkness almost subconsciously thoughtsomethingwas there on the side of the road. As soon as the truck passed by the driveway, the cop pulled out to go in the direction of the truck and I had to fully slam on my brakes to avoid T-boning him. Luckily didn't impact. Dude looked into my headlights as I was braking but he just drove away while I sat there watching my life pass before my minds eye.

stephsationalxxx

Almost happened to me. I'm an RN and during the height of the pandemic I was leaving my shift after watching/listening to people suffocating to death, begging for their lives for 14 hours. I was a block away from my parking spot when a cop almost t boned me after blowing a stop sign and proceeded to pull ME over. I was not having it that day, usually I'm nice and patient with cops, but I obv did not have that in me that night. I gave him such attitude especially when he told ME to be careful next time. I told him I had a dash cam and he left right quick.

Busy-Investigator-65

What this is really about is a cop trying to get the victim to get up as though nothing happened. The officer makes no effort to get medical assistance. He wants to pretend it never happened...

Deathzone0072

He tells dispatch to send an ambulance. But I agree that he was clearly trying to lessen the damage

Rudy_Ghouliani

Should have told him to walk it off like a little league coach

DukeOfYorkshirePuds

Rub some dirt on it!

[deleted]

"Send a supervisor.... .... ...and an ambulance."

GenericUsername488

hmmm maybe we should make it illegal to drive while distracted by a phone or in this case a computer.... oh wait.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GenericUsername488

that sounds like some bull shit to me. had a civilian done the same thing they would have caught a charge for sure. I just hate the double standard shit. if police can drive while distracted then everyone else should be able to aswell

GenericUsername488

yeah that's real fucked up. I guess the word accountability is a made up word huh.

Daelynn62

When they accidentally hit a school bus its harder to brush off.

MertDiesel

To swerve and neglect

Jon_Boopin

*old man gets hit by car* "lol u ok dude?"

tallestmidget220

What an asshat trying to move him out of the street so he doesn’t look bad, potentially causing more harm to the person he ran over. Accidents happen but fuck this officer

bigchicago04

Major “don’t tell mom vibes”

Thatsfranksbuttsmell

i bet you the dude got arrested for jaywalking

absherlock

They're gonna charge him (the victim) for damage to the cruiser. Maybe even hit him with aiding and abetting since the officer was on his way to another call. Fuckers.

Gabrielredux

Jaywalking and interfered with police

absherlock

Officer'll go out with "injuries in the line of duty" and collect disability.

Beach1107

Although I do believe pedestrians have the right of way, but only if they are in a crosswalk. How do you protect drivers from people randomly walking out in front of moving cars??

Beach1107

So the guy was standing in the middle of the street, you’re saying?

absherlock

Are you asking as a hypothetical, because that isn't the case in this instance. First, both of that man's feet were on the ground when he was hit. Second, cop was making a right hand turn, so he should've been looking to the right and seen the guy.

Gabrielredux

Full pension and hero award

nelsonwehaveaproblem

Failing to yield etc, what /r/ABoringDystopia.

SeorgeGoros

Add resisting arrest.

me_brewsta

Don't forget to drug test him too so that his whole family can be dragged thru the mud.

FutureTyrant

Suprised he didn't try to arrest him too

WingsofSky

You shouldn't even try to move the injured party. Doing so could cause more damage or even death.

Xonox83

"Can you sit up?' Obviously not fuck wad

dcd120

do cops get issued an unlimited get out of jail free card to carry around in their wallet when they get hired

Theretired-pornstar

what a dream to be paid this much

PulseDance

Ouch

TheRiceDevice

CHA-CHING!

angryfromnv

And he arrested him for jaywalking right

Diarrhea_Exfoliation

Cop was definitely at fault here, but that dude was also jaywalking. There's no crosswalk there, so there's no cause to be watching out for pedestrians. Both people fucked up if you ask me.

Iltempered1

Probably gave him a ticket for Jay Walking afterwards.

Spazyk

Technically the man was jaywalking.

[deleted]

["Arkansas law requires drivers to stop for pedestrians at any marked OR unmarked crosswalk – that includes street corners in small towns where there may be no traffic signals or lights."](https://www.taylorkinglaw.com/mythbusters-pedestrian-traffic-laws-arkansas/) It's [literally a question on the driving test](https://www.dmv-written-test.com/question/pedestrians-crossing-at-corners-have-the-right-of-way_7wXaBVrg.html).

Spazyk

My apologies, I avoid the south. I follow Northern laws. Arkansas code 27-51-1204. Learn your real laws buddy.

[deleted]

Ah well, no reason to break the trend of victimblaming anyone hurt by a cop then. Good to know when I hit a jaywalker with my car, folks will be quick to say it was their fault. Ah but I'm not a cop so probably not.

Spazyk

It could have been anyone turning the corner. The POC officer exited his vehicle to check, calm down. No one is victim blaming.

[deleted]

It could have been, but I suspect folks wouldn't be pointing out the jaywalking quite so enthusiastically if it was someone not a cop. >The POC Is that supposed to mean Person of Color? Why does that matter here? If it was supposed to mean Piece of Crap, well yes, he should watch where he's driving so he doesn't run over pedestrians.

Spazyk

Well I am what you call a Libtard and I like to be PC.

[deleted]

I don't call anyone a libtard, I just don't get why the cop's race is relevant.

rambunctiousopossum

"Sir, you ok, can you sit up?" "Nah, you're a cop who just hit me, I'm gonna lie here so it looks worse for your dumb ass"😄

Ryansahl

For the trifecta of errors, I thought the cop was going to sick the dog on him.

Brutumfulm3n

Don't text and drive, but playing on your lap top - that's cool

dirtymoney

Gave the guy a ticket for jaywalking didnt he? SOP for when you fuck up as a cop is to blame your victim.

SillyGooseTY

I dont want to be disrespectful and racist to the man hit, but crossing the road where there is no zebra is idiotic from his part. The cop isnt fully at fault because who would expect a person to practically jump out of nowhere.

illuminutcase

> The cop isnt fully at fault The cop is 100% at fault. [Arkansas law requires drivers to stop for pedestrians at any marked OR unmarked crosswalk – that includes street corners in small towns where there may be no traffic signals or lights.](https://www.taylorkinglaw.com/mythbusters-pedestrian-traffic-laws-arkansas/)

tallestmidget220

Bro if you do accidentally hit someone, the last thing you wanna do is move them. He’s totally at fault and acting like a guilty piece of shit by trying to clean up the scene to make himself look better as opposed to showing concern for the dude he ran over. First call was for a supervisor, not medical assistance. Tells you everything you need to know about his mindset and is indicative of the problem with policing in America.

[deleted]

You can see his hand scrolling a the laptop... meaning he’s looking at it. You can also see the cop reacting after he hit the person and his body cam have the person in view way before his reaction. Distracted driving.

illuminutcase

> The cop isnt fully at fault because who would expect a person to practically jump out of nowhere. Yes... no one would expect a guy standing at a corner to cross the street. And totally not the cops fault even though you're supposed to yield to pedestrians at stop signs. Definitely ok that he was clearly on camera messing with his computer when he hit the guy.

SillyGooseTY

pedestrian was illegally crossing the street but alright....

illuminutcase

Nope, cop was 100% in the wrong. Even teenagers know this.

nelsonwehaveaproblem

I know why you think that, it's super intuitive to think that, but you are just wrong. It doesn't work like that. You're driving the car, you are responsible for making sure you don't drive into people and/or things, even if those people and/or things jump out in front of you.

illuminutcase

That and pedestrians have the right of way when crossing at corners. [It's the law](https://www.taylorkinglaw.com/mythbusters-pedestrian-traffic-laws-arkansas/).

Abandonsmint

Self report Andy over here

Fred1751

Shooting ppl is suddenly frowned upon so he was improvising

yuffie2012

I see $$$$

WatIsSep

.....how?

yuffie2012

Seriously? Cop hits a guy with his car and you’re asking how?

WatIsSep

Cop hits a guy jaywalking. Yeah, I am.

yuffie2012

It’s called a lawsuit.

WatIsSep

Bet that’ll go well.

Humancinnabon

That guys gonna get a LOT of money from a lawsuit

AnImEiSfOrLoOsErS

This old dude attacked the police car it is on video! /s

Philosopherski

The cop was more concerned with the trouble he got himself into then the person he just hurt. He had to remind himself "Oh yeah and also an ambulance" when calling dispatch. If we looked at all the collisions in which cop cars have been involved in I bet we'd see a startling amount of laptop use right before those accidents.

yuniwa_

That’s across the street from where I grew up in Little Rock

Probably the luckiest thing that has ever happened to that man.
